An award-winning author delivers a compelling sequel to the bestselling The Warning. Buddy Korda calls America to repentance and fights collusion in high places as countless lives hang in the balance.
The was the second book of a two part story. I did not know that when I first started reading it so I was a little confused at the beginning. The story is about a Christian prophet who has already warned the American citizens about the coming economic meltdown. That all happen in book one. This picks up with another warning from the prophet. The first warning became a reality and the prophet had told the people to give their money to the churches. Therefore churches had much money and property. The U.S. government was hatching a plan to tax the churches at a high percent and the prophet was told by God to inform the people that if they returned to God then He would restore their land. The Christians came up with an Constitutional Amendment that would help America return to their Christian heritage.A lot of the circumstances in the book remind me of things we are going through today. Especially the health care situation and the crime. This book will be a fun read for anyone who enjoys Christian fiction.
It would have helped had I read the first in the series, but I didn't know this was a sequel. The book was okay, but I found myself skimming quickly through it to get to the end.
This book was very profound. It is a sequel to "The Warning". It took me to a deeper level of what our relationship with our Heavenly Father is supposed to be. We are much too casual about this, even with all of our good works. We can receive so much more...remember the line from the song "Daughters of God" "reach up, He'll take your hand." Be coming a member of this LDS church has required a commitment to a way of life, but I still think we are too busy scurrying around with our mundane things to get the fullest benefit from our beliefs and testimony, and in the end, it isn't going to count for much. I am going to try and find that special place within myself where I can feel I am taking care of my responsibilities but also know that I am doing His will, instead of just reacting to things around me. This book showed me there is much more to seek for. It certainly is food for thought!
This is the sequel to "The Warning". I didn't like "The Warning" as much as I've liked other of T. Davis Bunn's books. "The Ultimatum" started out better by grabbing my attention and I thought I was going to really like this one. But then it got bogged down with too much government/political details that were really kind of boring. TMI and I was starting to feel like the author was trying to preach a political viewpoint. I don't necessarily disagree with that viewpoint, but it doesn't make for a good read. In both books, I didn't think there was a good character development for any of the characters so I eventually came to not care about any of them but I kept plugging away at it. I've got two more of Bunn's books that I'm going to give a chance to....so, we'll see...
I read The Warning and The Ultimatum this weekend, and neither disappointed. I feel as though I'd had a mountaintop retreat experience, leaving me feeling closer to God, or at least in recognition of needig to draw nearer. Both served to point out to me, through the experience of the characters, the need to LISTEN - to be still and not give God a litany of my own wishlist but to WAIT upon the Lord and listen to what He has to say...now to put it into practice!
I love Christian fiction because it makes you think. Most CF hits home with world topics or reality and they bring circumstances that could easily come to life. This author has done it again. He continued his characters but with a different dilemma but has pulled the reader in making you feel his fear, pain and courage. I do hope to hear from the author again real soon. :)
