I'm not sure if this was rated as a chick flik but it was so much more. No sloppy, sappy satire. Womens friendships are always complicated, because we are so jealous of each other while we are young & in competion for men and family, but this book showed how when we get older how much we need each other to complete our lives happily.
I enjoyed this book enough to finish it but not enough to remember it after a lapse of 2 months. I had to look at the reviews to refresh my memory. Yes, the 'bringing the random strangers together' plot device was novel and interesting but otherwise it was standard chick lit - not that that is necessarily a bad thing but in this case it was a mediocre thing.
I'm really torn as to how to rate this book. While I felt compelled to keep reading, and I wanted to cheer the three main characters on, it had some sex in it and dealt a little with abuse of children and with murder. Those are tough subjects for me. I don't find them entertaining, which is why I read, and I usually avoid those kinds of stories.
Three woman get caught in a robbery of the store they are shopping at. The young gunman kills three people, after the police find them in the back of the store, the three woman become friends. Characters are great in this charming book
For those who enjoy chick-lit, this is an enjoyable read. The story of three women who survived an armed robbery together. Although they began as strangers, they become special friends, living past the nightmare with the help of one another. Sharing their triumphs and regrets, they turn their 'might-have beens' into positive achievements and learn that it's never too late to reclaim what you thought was lost.
Light summer-reading novel about 3 women who became very close friends after a traumatic robbery and shooting of 3 people in which these 3 were tied up and threatened with killing from the young robber. The story continues with how each woman coped with this trauma and how it affected their lives.
