Are you confused by events surrounding the Second Coming of Christ? If so, this simple, introductory guide is the book for you. It takes a breezy approach while looking at a wide variety of scriptures that cast light on the Last Days, the Second Coming, the Millennium, and the end of the world. You won't find much that’s heavy, sensational, speculative, or particularly new or groundbreaking in this book, just a brief guide that gets to the point.
We’ll walk through many of the major events surrounding the Second Coming of Christ, mainly through the lens of the standard works of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: The Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. It also examines some archaeological, historical, and statistical material as well.
Finally, this is a new edition of a book first published in November 2015 and is primarily for Latter-day Saints, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I finished this book last month, but just didn't get around to writing about it. This is probably a great book if you have absolutely no background in what has been written about the last days. I picked it up just to see if anything new or interesting could be added to what I already had read about the last days. I didn't realize that this book was written for a blog, which explained a lot. The author did a good job pulling everything together...information from Revelations along with information from Isaiah and other parts of the Old and New Testaments, in addition to scriptures from the Book of Mormon. But there are so many other things I've read and understood from Revelations, such as pollution that may be involved in the last days (the ocean or certain waters will become 'deathly'). A lot of what the author said was very obvious stuff that has been said before. So it really did not fill the niche I was hoping to fill. I realize that all of this stuff leads to speculation concerning what the authors of the scriptures meant to say, and since we have a completely different world view, our perceptions may not fit. But when you get this kind of book, you are asking the authors to speculate a little bit. The authors of the scriptures were writing about our times, and I'm sure the writer of Revelations for one thing, probably had problems describing what he was seeing...we need to keep this in mind.
I loved reading this book, because it discusses the last days before the Second Coming of the Lord. During these turbulent times (2020 as I write this), it sure feels like the end time is near. Although we don’t know the hour in which the Lord will come, we can prepare for that time by studying the scriptures and writings about that time. This is one of those great writings - which I wished would go on and on and never end, because the information is so important and illuminating. But, alas, I finished reading and highly recommend it!
This collection of blog postings concerning the Second Coming and how to prepare for it, is a wonderful place to begin your own study.. it does t provide any information on the Second Coming that we haven’t had the opportunity to see and I guess that’s the point. The Lord has provided us with all the Sunnis of his return. Have we they eyes to see? We cannot know the time of His coming, but we can prepare. Will we? Or will we “procrastinate the day if our repentance”?
The author gives personal insights to revelation(with humor) that we, ourselves, have access to. Let this be your starting point to make clear for yourself where you will be standing and what you will be watching for. I do not do well in high heat situations; and the air where Christ will be in the sky is where I want to be. Take a deep breath, read the standard works, listen to our inspired leaders, and pray for personal inspiration
To the point, the author shares his thoughts and feelings about the prophecies leading up too the second coming of Christ. Fitzgerald's research and references remind us that we need to know these signs, to be watchful and most of all be ready for the second coming of Christ.
The Lords second coming is to be looked for. The current state of the world and the United States is looking more and more like what is described in the Scriptures. I'm watching and preparing for that day. The signs are there. The degradation of our democracy and Constitution is frightening.
The author reviews the scriptural passages with his comments inserted. Being already familiar with this material, it was a good review. For A person unfamiliar with those scriptures it would be an organized way to learn about events proceeding our Savior’s return.
This answers all my questions about the second coming. I even wanted to know about the two missionaries that will be murdered and resurrected within three days covered in this book.
I enjoyed it. I was enlightened on some principles that I didn't have a good accurate understanding of. I appreciated that the author stresses that these are his own thoughts, yet backs up his points with credible references such as scriptures.
I love reading about the last days and learning more about these things, but this was not a well written book. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
This book explored some signs of the second coming through scriptures and words of prophets. I thought it was a great help in deciphering some of the things can expect in the last days.
Great compilation of scriptures on Christ's second coming.
I enjoyed the way it was set up in examining ancient scriptures and more modern ones. It is good to be reminded to prepare ourselves spiritually, instead of just focusing on food storage and other necessities.
Great book for sure. Definitely loved all of the scriptural references and references from talks. I would definitely recommend to friends and family, as I already have. The one thing I would have liked more, which would make it a 5-star book, in my opinion, is deeper analysis. There was analysis done on the scriptures, or at least what the scriptures mean, but after reading “Jesus the Christ”, I was hoping for something a bit more intellectually enlightening. That said, it was a fantastic book, and the author did an incredible job lining it all up. I will continue to recommend this book to others!
To be honest, I was hoping for more of an in-depth look at some of this information. I was eager to hear more thoughts and insights from the writer but mostly it was just a variety of scriptures and very brief commentary about what each means -- which often simply meant a simple reiteration of what the scriptures said. It ended up feeling a little repetitive.
I have read far better material on the subject, but I did have to give it an extra star for the few times the author did say something that resonated with me as richly interesting.
Brother Fitzgerald makes many good observations as he considers the scriptures that he refers to. Some are more obvious to the average person and some are harder to detect.
