An inspirational romance, heavier on the suspense. It is also about love, loss, letting go and opening your heart again.

This was a good, solid read for me. It's part of Harelquin's inspirational suspense line, but the God Stuff is pretty light and (best part of all) I don't get any hackneyed sex scenes while the characters are on the run. The suspense is cat-and-mouse style with someone out to frame the heroine, and does it have anything to do with her NSA fiance' being killed overseas? The overall theme of the romance is grief - how we process it, how complicated it is etc. It takes a while for the suspense thread to weave around, but it kept me guessing and I liked the couple. Also, while part of a series, it stands alone well.

Driven by guilt and loyal friendship, he holds back the feelings he's flooded with when he's around Lucy. It's a race against time to find the impersonator & killer before it's too late!
Sometimes I just wanted to shake Jordan up because he has a real chance at love, but he rejects Lucy's affection all too often! I can understand he doesn't want her to feel like he's replacing her late fiancé Brandt, it's only been a year since he was killed. Lucy is understandably still grieving him, but her faith is what helps her slough through everyday. These two work together to bring down the impostor, along with Jordan's team of experts. Never did I suspect who it was! I love when an author can dupe a reader right to the very end of the book.
Knife-edge danger, high-stakes tension, and breath-stealing scenes will have you flipping pages faster & faster, Shackelford packs a punch in 224 of them!

Can they find the truth before she is blamed for Stolen Secrets?
WOW! Now this, this is what Love Inspired Suspense is made of! Stolen Secrets had me from page one to the very last surprise at the ending. And the setting for the final showdown with the villain? Well, let me just say it was one of the most unique that I've ever read in a Love Inspired Suspense novel. Sherri Shackelford sure kept me guessing with all of the threads, red herrings, and plot twists! To be honest, I almost suspected one character of being the villain even though it was impossible!
I read Sherri Shackelford's first Love Inspired Suspense book last year and I loved it! I missed her second book, which I'm going to have to remedy one of these days. And now, with Stolen Secrets, I am totally hooked!
Can you tell how much I enjoyed Stolen Secrets? Well, I'll tell you, I pretty much didn't put it down all afternoon/evening and finished it in pretty short order. How could I stop reading? I had to know what came next and if Lucy and Jordan would finally figure out that the only thing keeping them apart was themselves. Sherri Shackelford sure put them, and readers, through the wringer, including a scary stint in a cemetery! Have I gotten to you yet? If you love thrills and chills try this book...

I read for the romance and less so for the suspense, which is why I always long for MORE romance when I read Intrigue, or Inspie Suspense. Great suspenseful read. I really enjoyed the author's previous book, and didn't realize at first that the main guy in this book had been in the previous one.

Woohee -- intensity +++! Lots of action and intrigue and dodging danger while falling head over heels in love. Another unique suspense plot from this author with so many rabbit warren trails to follow that my sleuthing armchair got quite a workout! Love this unconventional heroine -- from looks to decor preferences to her pet of choice -- you don't see someone like Lucy in a Love Inspired novel very often. And Jordan is a kinda alpha nerd hybrid. :-) Absolutely love the distinctive flare Sherri Shackelford brings to the Love Inspired Suspense line.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Stolen Secrets. I really enjoy Sherri's books especially her suspense. This story is well written, action packed, and full of adventure. Sherri also wove her faith throughout the story as in a fine tapestry. It also takes place in Omaha Nebraska; I really liked that.
National Security Agent Jordan Harris is to meet Lucy. She was the fiancee of his friend that was killed on a mission. Brandt had shared letters with him and he had formed a crush on her. Now he is to meet her in person. He has come to give Lucy the engagement ring that Brandt had made for her. He has a speech all prepared but when he meets her she is wearing an engagement ring that is identical to the ring in his pocket. What is going on? As he talks with her he becomes aware that something is wrong. She tells him she thinks someone is impersonating her. As they are talking a car drives by and a gunman shoots out the windows where they are sitting in the coffee shop. He promised Brandt to protect her. Can he keep his promise?

What it’s about - Software engineer Lucy is stalked by hacker and cronies, and is rescued by NSA agent Jordan.
What I liked - I liked the recognizable Omaha landmarks. I liked some of the very surprising plot elements (two rings, an engagement party). I liked the generally mature and sensible characters. I liked the somewhat well researched technical elements of the plot.
What I disliked - I couldn’t overlook how the characters decided to let the bad guys think they were boyfriend/girlfriend, then proceeded to do all kinds of things inconsistent with that cover story (such as tell potentially untrustworthy coworkers they were just acquaintances). The romantic element was characterized by tedious self-psychoanalysis and, by my standards, lacked depth and nuance. There was too much romance and not enough suspense for my taste, confirming that this is a genre and publisher that I don’t generally enjoy.
Who might enjoy this book - People who love Omaha. Fans of Christian romantic suspense.
I rated the book as 2 stars, but I'll add one in recognition that this just isn't my genre of choice.

Jordan and Lucy's story kept me reading quickly until I finished! I love this author's books! The characters are always interesting and realistic. I especially enjoyed these two main characters this time because they were somewhat opposite types but went together well, proving the theory that opposites attract! Lucy feels that someone has been impersonating her at work as a software engineer to steal classified tech secrets and it's really making her nervous! Jordan works for the NSA and is helping Lucy to set a trap for that person. Jordan is kind of a straight-laced person and Lucy is...not, but she helps Jordan see that loosening up a bit is just what he needs! As they stay one step ahead of danger, they find out that perhaps a life together would be just what would make them happy! I definitely recommend this book!

Reading this book felt like watching a TV episode with spies and secret agents. Not quite long enough for a full movie, but resolved in about an hour ;) It's no wonder I liked it since two of my favorite shows are The Mentalist and Burn Notice. The element that made this book different is the theme of faith as Lucy and Jordan work together to solve the mystery. The reason Lucy trusts Jordan is that he was the best friend and coworker of her fiance who was killed in an explosion. Jordan struggles with survivor's guilt, especially when he develops deeper feelings for Lucy. There is romantic tension and plenty of suspense to keep the pace of the book moving forward to the climax and resolution.

Lucy Sutton works as a software company and has her identity stolen along with classified information that she was working on. Jordon Harris of the National Security Agency who is trying to keep her alive and find out who actually stole the information. This is a story that kept me reading until the end and had a surprise ending. Of course, we have the romance that shouldn’t be. I recommend this book to anyone that likes suspense and intrigue.

Definitely a bit of an unusual premise but an enjoyable read overall. I really liked that Lucy marched to a different drum, she was a fun and likable character. Good read and now I want to go back and read Emma’s story!

I enjoyed reading this book that was full of intrigue, suspense and emotion.
The main characters were developed well and I loved both their easy flowing and hard emotional conversations. Lucy Sutton, the young computer programmer is being impersonated and her life put in peril. She needs to figure out who is trying to steal the government secret information related to her project. She has her own unique lifestyle and she has also been grieving the death of her fiance Brandt.
Jordan Harris is the National Security Agency officer assigned to uncover the mastermind behind this evil plot.
Woven throughout the book the emotion of grief is dealt with. Lucy is wondering how long can she keep grieving her fiance Brandt and Jordan feels grief over the loss of his partner Brandt during an overseas mission.

Love Inspired Suspense is filled with courage, danger, and faith, and this story does not disappoint. The characters are well-crafted. I enjoyed getting to know Mr. Nibbles as I delight in the special touch animals add to a story! Both software engineer Lucy Sutton and National Security Agency employee Jordan Harris have feelings of guilt and grief. Will they find out who is impersonating Lucy to steal classified technology secrets and, in the process, move past their guilt and grief. You’ll be taken on a page-turning adventure trying to predict the conclusion!

Sherri Shackelford's latest suspense is a fantastic page-turner that had me on the edge of my seat!
Stolen Secrets has a fresh new storyline with someone trying to frame software engineer Lucy Sutton for stealing classified technology secrets. National Security Agency employee Jordan Harris comes to the rescue and together they try to solve the mystery. Lucy and Jordan are such interesting characters and have really great chemistry.
Sherri's witty humor shines throughout the book, Jordan meeting Mr. Nibbles had me laughing out loud. I was guessing at the outcome of Stolen Secrets right up to the very end, but Sherri outwitted me. I loved it and can't wait for another Sherri Shackelford suspense!
