At forty, Tamika Boone never imagined she’d become a walking cliche. Yet, the morning after a particularly drunken Christmas party, she finds herself waking up in a man’s bed. A man who happens to be her sexy employee, Carson Hollister.

And Carson’s fifteen years her junior.

What was supposed to not go past the drunken party turns into an agreement—they continue a casual sexual relationship for twelve days until Christmas Eve. After that, they part ways. No feelings and a clean break.

Easier said than done.

Carson has no problem agreeing to the arrangement…except, in those twelve days, he’s planning to make Tamika fall for him. For him, their Christmas after-party hookup was nothing short of divine intervention; he’s wanted her for years but always kept a professional distance.

He can give her what she thinks is the only thing he wants from her—screaming mornings, steamy evenings, and erotic nights in her office, his loft, his car…wherever. But, when it’s all said and done, she’ll realize age truly is nothing more than a number when it comes to what he can do to her body, and what he can be in her life.

Warning: This standalone novel 30K contains graphic language and sexual scenarios. For mature readers only.

Enjoyed the book but

Didn’t like the ending. I liked that there was character development although the book wasn’t really long. The author managed to touch on the unfairness of how men and women are treated not only in the workplace but also in relationships. It being a holiday romance, I was expecting a hea not a hfn ending. For instance, she talked about wanting children and having frozen her eggs. What are her exact plans ? I really disliked her leaving her job. It made me feel that although she stood up against ageism, she caved on the women can’t have it all. She could have stayed on as Chairman of the Board or even as CEO. She could have just kept the aspects of the job that she enjoyed and delegate the rest to a COO. Basically, work smarter whilst taking time for herself.

Good book. Would have been great if it had an actual ending. It felt like it just stopped in the middle.

Either way it was an enjoyable read. The sex scenes were hot!

Tamika and Carson

I enjoyed this book about a reverse May-December affair. Carson and Tamika were great together once she got over the age issue and realized that age is just a number. The board, after hearing about the affair, wanted to fire Tamika but she reminded them that her name was on the building. Truly, Tamika hadn’t been fulfilled in a couple of years so she decided to retire…with her money….and Carson. Carson wrote a book that’s doing very well in the UK and it looks like he and Tamika are in it for the long haul with Carson determination to get Mika pregnant.
The only thing I would have like is an Epilogue to let the reader know, unless there’s going to be another book, whether they get married, have children……how their life turned out, whether together or not.

Not disappointed

I love Carson. Especially since he looks like Damon from Vampire diaries. He was confident and determined to get what he wanted. He was also all man. He didn’t allow his age to dictate who he was, or his friends.
Mika got on my nerves at times. She acted like she was 60 and not 40. She was beautiful and successful but not fulfilled. I like how the author exposed the double standards of society. Men can do it and be praised. Whereas, a woman do the same thing and she’s shamed.
It’s a steamy, hot sexually powered read. I recommend it to any that enjoys K. Alex Walker. You won’t be disappointed!

Happy reading!

Tamika and Carson

Carson didn't care that Tamika was his boss or that she was 15 years older than him, he wanted her and not just for kicks and giggles. I love how he took a chance and went for more than the twelve day holiday fling they agreed to. Once Tamika let go of the age gap she was ready to take a chance also. They make a great couple. Now I can't wait to see if Carson's best friend OB can get his act together for Sam who deserves the world.💝💝

3.5 stars. It was an ok read. Tamika just didn’t come across as that “boss chick”. I know the author wanted her portrayed that way but she came across as lonely and semi-desperate. There were quite a few funny scenes and I enjoyed the developing feelings between Tamika and Carson.

Seduction Sans Romance

(FYI, this review may also include some spoilers. Reader beware.)

As an additional disclaimer, I greatly enjoy K. Alex's writing. However, I realized that I did not enjoy this book as much for the exact same reason that I did not care for Fated. I felt that both books suffered from the same problem - a lack of romance. The genre that I intentionally read is romance that centers Black women and allows us to be loved, soft and happy, without the struggle love. I love to read smutty sex scenes, but I don't like when a book centers fucking instead of romance, and that is what Seducing the Boss read as to me.

In other reviews of K. Alex's work, I talk about how there's typically two parallel stories happening within the novel. I believe that the two stories in this novel were 1. Carson's pursuit of Tamika 2. Tamika coming to terms with what it means to engage and have feelings for Carson despite their 15-year age difference. Much of the reason that I didn't care for this book is because of Tamika. I felt like Tamika almost blocked herself from receiving her own blessings. I appreciate Tamika's hesitancy about giving Carson a real chance especially considering that she had done that before with a younger man and the way that the previous situation turned out, as well as her own insecurity related to her age versus his age. With that said though, Carson's behavior and even his nervousness (which I found very cute and charming) related to trying to impress her showed me how committed he was to her. I feel like had Tamika not done what she needed to do and ultimately overcome, she would have blocked her blessings of a good man.

I found Carson to be a saint with his patience for Tamika. I love what their relationship meant for him in the sense that he had unresolved issues with his mother (abandonment). Tamika making an intentional choice to choose him, especially choosing him versus her business was huge for not only their relationship, but some of his attachment wounds and healing those wounds left by his mother. One downside of this book especially against the other two books in this series is that this story was a lot shorter, so you didn't really get enough of the romance between the two of them as much as you got their fucking. I would have loved for this book to have been extended to further dive into those areas with more background given to the circumstances of Carson's mother's abandonment, current family dynamics their impacts.

Enjoyed reading this one, but even saying that, my mind still cannot get past that 15 year age difference. I know it said she looked fantastic for her age, but I also read O.B.’s story first and it was a year or more later and she still was not talking babies. I know women today have a first around/close to 50, but at that point you looking at possible birth defects. Then, you have to think about pre menopause issues, so I am glad this was fiction. Also, she came across as a hoochie, as all she and Carson did mostly, was have sex. I just could not get what other level they connected, unless it was the literary side. I know I am being judgmental, but I have an issue with women behaving in a way that does not reflect their mature age. That is one of my words of wisdom to young girls, if asked, be young and act young, while you young. Do not go hard after money, men or a career, then reach 40 or 50 and have a mid life crisis because you missed out on those things that should now be wonderful memories. Then, you make yourself the talk of town by being 45 to 50 years and acting like you are 20! That is a no go to me!

Age ain’t nothing but a number

At least that’s what I try to tell my 42 year old buttoned up self. Xara spoke to me on so many levels. Mines is a story heartache long ago followed by an autoimmune disease called lupus. Dating fell by the wayside to surviving and then my new normal life with this disease. I know how she feels when all you know is to dig in your heels and move forward and push through no matter what you’re told, what people say and or think, what test results say, diagnosis, etc. Who would want me and all this baggage that comes with me?
This story gives me hope. I’m no ceo but I’m trying to thrive, no longer settling for the old life. I want happy and I wouldn’t mind a Carson.
Carson was young but he was ready. I liked that. He saw her and didn’t stop pursuing her. Genuine and good heart.

Great read!

Not what I expected and just too short, but it was good… at least a 4 1/2 star for sure

I live MS. Walker penmanship and although this was a little bit flat, which I believe it’s because it was too short, I do believe it was just not so real after all. You know how some story and characters are relatable or at least somewhat realistic, this was just too far fetched and far from being realistic in any way.
Mika was such a child and Carson was just a very grown, mature man at least in his late 40s.
Also this didn’t really speak to me so I am having a hard time seeing if I will be reading the others in this series.
In any case MS. Walker is still the bomb too 10 writers for me.

Age is only a number

I enjoyed Carson and Mike story .I'm older than my husband by 8 years and when I worked I made a lot more money than he did ,if the man that you're with isn't secure with himself it can cause problems .I'm glad Mila didn't let Carson ave binder her from getting to the heart of who he was .I would have loved to know how their future turned out and it they became a family ,I guess I could come to that conclusion in my mind .Great read an another awesome book by Ms.Walker.I would recommend this book

So Cute

So often ambition can stand in the way of personal desires. People can be so set on goals they lose track of time. Woman more than men can be affected by these longer-term goals due to physical make-up. Sometimes recapturing what was lost may involve happiness with a younger partner. However, society would readily accept the older man/younger woman combo versus older woman/younger man combo. This book captures the less desired combo beautifully.😍

Carson's Determination Won

*****Spoilers*****

Carson was determined he would keep Mika after their drunken night together. With a 15 year age difference and she being the older woman with the successful career with everything to lose, it was a dynamic I can't remember reading but I liked it. For 25, Carson was resolute in his goal of claiming Mika and it worked. It was short so not much to it, chemistry is off the charts and the characters and writing were believable.

Book 1 of 3

This book is pretty straightforward, no major outside antagonists; just the main characters putting obstacles in their own way (as normal humans do). It’s an older-younger couple match with a multicultural twist.

I read K. Alex Walker because of the Assassins and Angel series. I love the characters she builds. The words and thought they have are real and sometimes, oftentimes, hilarious. I often find myself laughing out loud or cheering them on, my favorite line form this book is “Carson, they can’t do shit. My name’s on the motherfucking building.”

3.5⭐️
2.5 🌶

I read this book in between reading the second book in the Angel & Assassin's series because it was putting me through the ringer.

I liked their story, but it wasn't as captivating as the other books I've read by K. It did just what I needed it to do. A low stakes, semi juicy book that doesn't give me heart palpitations.

I like Tamika and Carson, but something about them just seems one note. I like them as an anchor couple for this series.

Short And Sweet

Why is it ok with society for older men to date younger women!? And it's kind of taboo for older women to sleep, let alone date older men?! Hmm 😒... Hypocrite much!
Good for Carson,... he knows what he wants and go for it, and what other's think will be damned!
Meet Carson and Tamika and let them tell you.

Sexy holiday tryst

A blazing two way attraction comes to a head with one holiday party. Drinks flowing and inhabitions are down. Ones sexy smoking hot cougar with her equally sexy hot fifteen year younger employee. There some heat, passion, jealousy, lies, backstabbing, and a twelve day of hot bliss.

Loved this!!!!

Good storyline and subject, very nice to see this topic and the dynamics. Loved how the characters progressed and developed. I just wish we would have seen it play out a little more to see what happens to the relationship, maybe we'll kinda see more in the future book. Just wasn't quite Long enuf to get the progression.

He was working for this relationship

Carson was working to win her over. He was making love to her heart as well as her body. He took her out of her comfort zone and allowed her to have fun. To open up. To get out of her own head. She needed this young man and he proved that he needed her too. Glad I read it, can't wait to see read the rest of the series.

A good read

I love the fact that Carson saw an opportunity to go for the woman he wanted even to the point of accepting how she wanted their relationship to end. It seems Tamika’s ex wanted a foot back in the door and Tamika’s office needed to be soundproof.

Wistful

I smiled so much reading this lovely story. And, laughed out loud. And, swooned. Maybe because I’m soo much like Mika and imagining a Carson coming into my life makes me so wistful. They are pure magic together. Well done, Ms. Walker!

Sweet holiday story

Sometimes you have to stop and smell the roses. Mika needed help to do that and Carson was the right guy to do it. Success doesn't always equate to being happy and fulfilled. Balance at your job and personal life is what it takes to be happy and content!

On point

I loved the straight forwardness of both characters. The chemistry between the two is delicious. It felt like I was reading a real life couple's love story. And the club scene was a first to say the least.

Solid 2.8

This story felt like something was missing to make it great. It wasn't bad, definitely had a lot if nailed action but it lacked something. Depth maybe, you could feel the attraction but believing it was not as natural.

The idea of young man x older woman is refreshing to see in the interracial romance.

However, the book's storyline is rush, flimsy and weak. The ending with Emily is out of nowhere. Walker should've given more foreshadowing.
