I was given this as a present from a friend and to honour her, I will read it with an open mind. I am a freethinker but have been struggling through a chronic skin condition all my life except for a few years back where I stopped using western medicine to treat it. Therein came the ordeal of going through TSW. I have been cycling through flares and breaks since I started and It can be so frustrating when there seems to be no end in sight and quality of living is severely affected.
I have attended a healing service at New Creation Church before and watched one of Joseph Prince's sermons on Youtube. I was not very comfortable with how the people behaved. So passionate and devoted, it was intimidating what a powerful influence could do with such faith. Another thing was my wondering how they could believe in this so strongly and give up control to something they could not see.
This book is a collection of excerpts and quotes from the bible about healing. The general message is to tell people not to give up but I feel it would be more rewarding if the reader actually practiced the faith. I did get some of the stories and context having attended catholic school through primary and secondary levels, as well as being exposed to bible stories and movies.
The pros are that this book is a quick read, not wordy, colourful and small so it is easy to bring around. It looks like it would bring comfort and community to someone who practices christianity but for someone who is not, it is just a book of quotes.
