Where will you be when the fireworks go off?
Serena
Nothing like being the only one standing at the altar to make you want to move somewhere new and start all over. That also means no more men - I'm going to be all business, all the time. The perfect opportunity comes to me via a friend - I love my Spar Island girls - and I end up going for a dream and buying my own bakery in Milltown, Colorado, just in time for the town's big fireworks celebration.
And everything is great until he walks in.
Nate
I thought the fireworks show and the various fires were the hottest things I had to deal with after coming home to Milltown. That is until I met Serena, who just bought the bakery that's right down the street from the firehouse where I'm working. Calling her a distraction is an understatement.
And her buttercream frosting isn't the only thing that melts in my mouth.
It won't take much to light this fuse. #flirtclub #fireworksseries #Bighotbang #toohottohandle #HEA
Her Firecracker by Laney Powell is part of the Fireworks, Flirt Club series. All of the books are by different authors and it’s a great way to find some new to you authors.
Serena May thought her future was all set. Until her wedding day when she was left at the alter. She knew she had to get out of the town she was living in and start fresh. The perfect opportunity arrived when a cute little bakery was put up for sale in Milltown, Colorado. It’s been Serena’s dream to own her own bakery so she’s all in, including the promise to herself that she’ll steer clear of men. But she certainly hadn’t planned on Nate!
Nate Devine spent twenty years in the Navy, most of which was as a Navy Seal. Now he is retired, has been in Milltown for about six months and is a firefighter. He was ready to settle down but hadn’t met anyone who interested him, until he set his eyes on the brand new bakery owner. It’s an instant connection, at least he feels it. He hopes she does too. Because she just might be the one!
This is super short and sexy and super sweet. Serena’s bad luck in the past was just getting her in the right place to meet the man she was supposed to be with.
Plot: After being left at the altar, Serena has moved to a new town and started a new business. She's also sworn off men. Then Nate the firefighter walks into her bakery. He'll have to work hard to convince her to give him a chance though.
Commentary: Cute enough and fits well into the series. Nice proposal and HEA. Nothing out of the ordinary, storywise, but no complaints.
After being left at the altar Serena decides no more men and it's time for a big change. Serena moves to Milltown where she buys a bakery and in walks Nate. Loved the way Nate and Serena's love story unfolded and how perfect they would be together if they could just get over past hurt. The writing is great, the story is sweet and their chemistry is on fire. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Ok. I said cute only because of the last page of the book. She said a phrase she hated. Read the book, it will make sense. Nate is a retired Navy Seal and currently a firefighter. Serena is a baker who bought the local bakery. Nate was instantly interested in her, Serena not so much. Just read the book you'll enjoy it. You'll get the whole idea of why she holds back. :)
The first time Nate spots Serena at the gas station he tells a spark. Then When he officially meets her at her bakery the spark gets a bit bigger. Serena has been burned by her Ex fiance so is gun shy of the sparks she is getting from Nate but it is hard to resist the sexy fireman. This book is a really fun read.
Serena moves to Milltown to start a new life. Nate came home after he retired to join the fire department. It was lust at first sight but it took them a bit to click. She’s been hurt and left at the alter and fears he’s a player. Nate is hotter than sin and not used to dating. Once they work through their issues they get their HEA. Cute proposal!
“I’m older than you, and I’ve never had a serious relationship. I could be a complete crap at this. But I figure no one is perfect, and the best kind of relationship is where you can make mistakes together, and still be okay.”
Serena moves across the country to reopen the Milltown Bakery 🎂 in Milltown, Colorado. Nate is a retired Navy SEAL and now a firefighter in his home town of Milltown. When the two meet there are 🔥 fireworks. A delightful story of love 💘 in a wonderful small town!
Serena is moving to Milltown to take over the bakery and start over from being left at the alter. Nate is a firefighter, recently retired seal. Sparks got but can they last
After being left at the alter, Serena was done with love. Until Nate. Nate was gorgeous and a firefighter. When things start reminding her of her past relationship, she pushes him away. Good thing he doesn't go far. Loved these two.
Very cute short story and a great addition to this series. I enjoyed this love story because the author built the romantic connection over a few days instead of insta lust, jumping in the bed 10 mins after they met. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

This was a one-sitting enjoyable story. Nate and Serena's story is a sexy, romantic insta-love. It's a heart-warmingly, well-written and paced story. Nate and Serena complimented each other. Her Firecracker is romance deserving of your time.
What's not to love about a retired Navy Seal turned firefighter, nothing! This story has a well-developed plot for being a novella length insta-love story. The main characters are both likeable from the beginning, and I enjoyed the story.
This was a sweet little story about overcoming the fear that heartbreak leaves. Nate is so cute and thank goodness Serena gave him a chance. Very cute.
I thought this story was cute. She was stood up moments before being married to the wrong man so she soon decided to start over somewhere new - her best decision ever!
I really enjoy Laney Powell’s books especially the continuation of the Spa Island Girls! This time we are following Serena, who was jilted at the alter a year previously. We jump through time quite quickly at the begging getting her back story and the bare bones of what has her so heartbroken and reluctant to ‘trust’ again. She has decided for a completely fresh start in Milltown and has bought a bakery to live out her dreams. She has no intention of meeting a man; she just wants to make a success of her new business and live happily ever after. However, she hadn’t banked on Nate, the sexy firefighter and overall smooth talker. I really enjoyed how the story built up slowly. Serena holds onto her beliefs that she doesn’t want another man in her life to shatter her hopes and dreams. And this is what she is convinced will happen if she lets Nate in, after all, isn’t he just another player? She soon realises, though, that she can be happy with her new life and let Nate in. This book really plays with the emotions; it is on tenterhooks at one point whether we will get the happily ever after that we really want for Serena. It is very well-written!

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is a story from the Flirt Club, a group of authors that release a series about a common theme, this one is from the Fireworks series about a small town called Milltown on July 4th. In this book, Serena is moving to Milltown to buy the bakery and start over after she was left at the altar. Serena meets Nate, a fireman who was retired from the military and recently moved back to Milltown himself. When Nate saw Serena, he wanted to be with her and he knew she was the one from the beginning, but Serena didn't seem interested in him at all. Serena was attracted to Nate, but she didn't want to be in a relationship. When there was a minor fire at the bakery, Nate and the rest of the firemen arrived and Nate assured Serena it would be okay. Serena baked cupcakes as a thank you to the firemen and when she brought them to them, she saw Nate. Nate felt a connection to Serena and kissed her. Serena wanted to be with Nate and give him a chance. She was drawn to him and Nate thought she would finally be his, but she was still scared. I liked this story. I liked Nate and thought he was a good guy who wanted to be with Serena and was willing to earn her trust. Serena liked Nate, but she was so hurt in the past, she was scared. Good one.
