More engaging than I thought it would be. Written in a casual tone and filled with information. The links to climate change throughout help keep things relevant, and got me interested in the topics I don't usually enjoy reading about. I definitely enjoyed some chapters much more than others, but this down to the content rather than the way information is presented. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get a solid foundation in ecology, a discipline relevant to all sorts of scientific fields.
This textbook utilized many real-world examples, making the more complicated ecological concepts easier to grasp. I enjoyed it very much and think it's an excellent book to use for an ecology class.
