Der Brief an die Fakultät ist gut. Lese ich da ein wenig Race Realism heraus? Von wegen, die Chinesen an der Fudan sind den westlichen Kollegen in der Intelligenz überlegen? Solch eine Beobachtung hatte ich auch in Münster und München. Die Asiaten (Vietnamesisch und Chinesisch) waren sehr streberhaft und klug. Das war schon sehr auffällig. Die hatten noch nicht mal Tiger Mütter. Die waren einfach besser in Sprache und Mathe als die Deutschen Schüler. Schon krass. Wie muss das dann erst an einer chinesischen Eliteuniversität sein! Hammer!

This was written in 2003 and it is unrecognizable from the global China-bashing and hatred that is going on in the West in 2020 today. Those were better, more positive and prosperous times and intellectual curiosity about China, not this sinophobic warmongering from Washington, Berlin and London. Shanghai was so innocent.
