Blessings, Georgia is such a comforting place to travel to. This small town is full of nice people who are ready to help each other and lend a helping hand to the people who need it the most.
Cathy Terry left her life in Las Vegas behind after her divorce. Her ex-husband was an abusive and dangerous bastard. He's involved in some shady businesses too. After her ex-husband threatens her life, she knows it's time to leave Las Vegas and she decides to head south. When she gets to Georgia, the town of Blessings looks like the right place to spend winter.
While going for a jog, Cathy injures herself, and thankfully, Duke Talbot witnesses her fall and he's there to help her. This is a new experience for Cathy, who has been doing everything for herself. She couldn't count on anyone else for a long time.
Duke is a farmer. He shares living space with his brother and his brother's wife. He has not had time for love or to find a wife. Nevertheless, the more time he is around Cathy, the more he starts believing in happy endings.
Once in a Blue Moon is surely a great addition to this wholesome series. I like how we get to revisit the past characters' developments.
The Blessings, Georgia series is a sweet one. It might be too sweet for readers but not for this one. I need some sweet in my life from time to time, particularly during 2020.
Cliffhanger: No

Sharon Sala has me enamored with this series. Blessings, Georgia is the place I would relocate to if it were a real town because not only is it thoroughly described as a beautiful and peaceful place to live, but the townspeople are one of a kind. There’s just something about these god honest people with hearts of pure gold that get me every time. I could read these books repeatedly. If you enjoy a cleaner romance book (sex scenes are basically fade to black), with wholesome characters who have values and kindness in their hearts, then this is a must-read series. I honestly cannot get enough and always look forward to being back in Blessings.
In this one, readers will meet Duke and Cathy. Duke hasn’t found the woman for him and prefers to stick by his brother and sister in laws side. He works, goes home, sleeps, and repeat. Cathy on the other hand has come from riches but she’s running from her past that is ultimately coming back for her. When she gets to Blessings, she believes it’ll be a place to just pass through. She has no idea what this small town has in store for her, especially when a man named Duke saves her after a bad fall.
As with the other books in this series, there’s a TINY bit of suspense (so tiny you wouldn’t even consider it suspense at all), and insta love with wholesome characters. These are GOOD people and their hearts are so pure that is becomes refreshing to be after all the dirty books I read! I highly recommend this one and all the books in the series. They are among my top favorites of all time.
Cathy Terry is a very smart woman. Divorced for less than a year, her last interaction with her ex-husband resulted in a threat for her life. She carefully calculated what it would take to disappear. Granted enough money in the divorce settlement, Cathy made wise decisions...decisions that led her to Blessings, Georgia. She traveled for quite some time, but with winter approaching, she decided she needed to stop for awhile.
Cathy rented a house, and before long, she realized that Blessings is a wonderful place. Not only does she finally feel safe, she loves the people in the small town. One day while out jogging, she falls and hurts her ankle. Duke Talbot saw her go down, so he rushes to her rescue and ends up escorting her to the hospital. One look in her eyes and Lucas was lost. However, he sensed a strong wariness in her, so he knew to tread carefully.
As Cathy recuperates, she not only benefits from Lucas's kindness, but that of the wonderful townsfolk. Their kindness is not something that she is used to. Meanwhile, her ex begins to go to any extremes necessary to find her, and to end her. So, Cathy continues to draw close to Lucas unaware that her ex Blaine is desperately searching for her. There is another side of Cathy that shines through the pages of this book, and that is almost a separate story. This all blended together to make a remarkable book in a beautiful series.
This wonderful book in the Blessings, Georgia series is a wonderful addition. Although I only have had the opportunity to read two previous books in this series, this story did perfectly well as a standalone. There are a bevy of characters interspersed in this story, and no doubt, they all appear in previous books. As a matter of fact, I easily recognized a few people from the stories that I did get a chance to read.
I was able to read this book in one sitting and enjoyed the mix of romance, friendship and intrigue. I am definitely going to stick with this series, and look forward to book #11, Somebody to Love, which is set for release in February, 2021.
Many thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
Everyone needs a town like Blessings, where most everyone is kind and helpful and truly care about one another.
I think people looking to change their lives somehow end up in Blessings. That is the case for Cathy who has left an abusive ex-husband and looking for a fresh start in life. She has quite an interesting background and some crazy skills as you will find out as you read this book.
Duke has lived in/near Blessings nearly all of his life and while he is happy, he hasn't found that one woman that would complete his life....until he comes across Cathy after she has taken a tumble while jogging. He is a goner soon after that moment.
The romance is sweet and not too rushed. There are some very touching moments in the last part of the book as Cathy sets out to make a difference in the town. You'll have to read the book to find out what exactly she does and how it is received.
This is a great series and I highly recommend it for anyone that likes small town southern fiction.
Once in a Blue Moon is the second book I have read in the Blessings, Georgia series by Sharon Sala. It is the tenth book in the series, but it is possible to read the books without reading the others in the series and still understand what is going on. I think it would be helpful to have read from the beginning, but I have read one of the earlier installments, so I already had the gist of it, and knew what to expect. I have previously read some of Ms. Sala’s romantic suspense books which I thoroughly enjoyed so this type of writing style from her was a bit different. I guess this is what you might describe as cozy romance with a tiny bit of suspense thrown in.
The basic premise is not uncommon; woman leaves wealthy abusive husband and seeks anonymity in a small town but finds a whole new unexpected life. This was not a poorly written story, but it was a little too tame for me. I prefer books that are a little on the edgy side and this was too sweet, too neatly wrapped up and the drama with the ex-husband was almost non-existent. In this book as the other I read, the two main characters fall in love almost immediately upon meeting and declare their love. I love a good romance, but this is a turn off for me, lust maybe, but not love. I know there is a following for this type of book and I’m sure they will enjoy it. I do appreciate Ms. Sala’s expertise at her craft and look forward to her next romantic suspense novel. I gave this book three stars. I thank NetGalley and the publisher, Sourcebooks Casablanca, for the opportunity to read this book.
Once in a Blue Moon is a warm, lighthearted tale that takes you back to Blessings, Georgia and into the lives of Cathy Terry, a young woman on the run from her powerful, dangerous ex who isn’t content to just let her walk away with all his secrets, and the dependable, hardworking rancher, Duke Talbot who’s been too busy taking care of everyone else to find the time to make a family of his own.
The prose is fluid and smooth. The characters are kind, caring, and supportive. And the plot is a feel-good, uplifting tale with a sliver of mystery that’s full of life, love, friendship, community, family, romance, love, and intrigue.
Overall, Once in a Blue Moon is another sweet addition to the Blessings, Georgia series by Sala with its small-town charm, endearing characters, underlying thread of suspense, and reminder of how important it is to find a place to call home.
Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Short, sweet, and safe, this is what I've come to expect from this author and series. It's never anything exceptional, but it doesn't make me mad and it's nice to visit with the nice folks in this small town again.
I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I did but I did. I read it in the matter of about four hours and I very rarely read a book in one sitting. The heroine Cathy is a BAD ASS! I loved her. She left her scumbag, emotionally abusive and probably more husband whose this big rich guy in Vegas. Having grown up off the grid in Alaska, she knows how to disappear, live off the land and fend for herself. She basically hikes from Colorado to small town Georgia and only planned on being in the small town for a little bit before heading out to hide out somewhere else because though she divorced this loser ex, he threatened her because she basically knew too much according to him. But for small town romance reasons, the town and its charm and friendliness eventually grows on her. Little does Cathy know, her ex has hired help trying to find her which adds a suspense element to the story. Enter in Duke and this is their romance. I really liked how things were handled in this book. Bottom line: people don’t want to be associated with asshole people! It was the wrap up to the suspense in the story I wasn’t expecting! I was rooting for Cathy. I knew she could hold her own but you really want her to get her HEA, which aside from Duke is honestly just, peace. But we also see her pay it forward, pay the blessings forward. It was a really good read. Now, could I go to small town Georgia and it be no big deal as a woman of color? Having lived there for 7 years..I’ll say No but this was a nice, fantasy and escape for a few hours. The tone felt safe, it felt very ‘we have each other’s backs’ here. But there was also this awareness of, None of the characters in this small town in the old south, look like Me. Is that because that’s not what is seen when the author takes a look around for inspiration for fictional small towns, or is there no Want to include diversity and be inclusive?
After a tumultuous marriage and acrimonious divorce, Cathy fled her ex-husband to try to find a peaceful life for herself. That’s where the small town of Blessings and the super-cute, super-nice rancher, Duke Talbot come in. As the newcomer in Blessings, Cathy is reluctant to make new ties. When Duke comes to the rescue after Cathy has a bad fall, it pushes her into instant ties with the town denizens, filling her life with new possibilities and new chances.
I liked Cathy. Her decisions left me in awe. To leave everything behind, venture out in the unknown without knowing what you’ll encounter takes a lot of courage and I admired her for it. She was a good fit for Duke, a man who shouldered responsibility and strove to do what was right. Duke was so endearing, he charmed me straight away. I loved his relationship with his brother, Jake and sister-in-law, Hope.
My only complaint with this story is that it veered away too much from the romance between Cathy and Duke to focus instead on the lives of the townspeople. I would have enjoyed the story more if the focus had been on Cathy and Duke. I did love the addition of little 8-year-old Melvin Lee though, which enhanced Cathy and Duke’s relationship. He was a sweet little tyke and his manner of speaking was so cute you couldn’t help but love him and feel for his situation.
It’s been a long time since I last read a Sharon Sala book but I still enjoy her writing and the dashes of humor always leave me smiling. This book is part of a series but can also be read as stand-alone.
*Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher, Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Setting: small town Georgia (maybe an hour from Savannah) Happy sigh .. just finished this book. Duke Talbot and Cathy Terry. I feel like Goldilocks and this read was JUST right. Thanks author for a most satisfying read.
I loved this book. It was easy to read and easy to get pulled into the story. I had hard time laying the book down. The love story is heart felt and warming. It is a true HEA. It is not a mushy love story but one of true love..
I found myself popping these like popcorn. Kettle corn to be exact. There is just enough salt to balance the sweet. Big cast of characters, often reads like an old skool soap opera in places complete with side stories, scandals and some frankly unbelievable coincidences or things that happen too conveniently. And yet still manages to hold attention.
Maybe 2.5 stars? Like the previous book in this series, this story is more a study in small town interactions than anything else. But without some drama, it's not very entertaining. The story begins with some cattle rustlers doing crime and getting caught. Is that important? Nope, but we sure spent a lot of time on it just so we could have a character put up a camera that just so happens to take a photo of something else that leads to something else that leads to something else. But none of these things are related, they just coincidentally make the plot move forward? It's sus, sis.
The story has the usual flowery love corniness that is par for the course with Blessings, Georgia and there's no real conflict here that isn't immediately solved without any difficulty at all. If you love this kinda stuff, go for it. If you prefer Sala's romantic suspense, this is going to be a waste of your time.
A woman hiding from her dangerous ex and a man who has always placed himself last to care for others find a special kind of something when they least expect it. The small town full of hope out in the Georgia countryside works its magic once again on a new romance pair and I got comfortable for the heartwarming tale.
Once in a Blue Moon is the tenth of the Blessings, Georgia series of standalone romances. A reader can enjoy the books out of order, but fair warning that each one updates on the lives of previous couples.
Cathy Terry grew up off grid in the Alaskan Wilderness and then made a huge mistake when she married a wealthy Vegas casino owner who abused and cheated on her only to threaten her life when she divorced him. She put those early skills to the test and went off grid once again only to surface in a little Georgia town where she planned to winter before hitting the trail once again. But, when an injury forces her to accept the help of a big, generous rancher and other town members step up to help look after a stranger, she isn't so sure about moving on. Duke is everything her ex was not and he makes her feel like something special.
Duke Talbot took over the family farm when his parents died and set aside his plans to hold down things while his younger brother finished school. He has been content to look after the farm and his family while appreciating the community he calls home, but it is only when he catches sight of pert, red-headed Cathy Terry jogging through town that he feels a spark and a desire for something more. Knowing that she's skittish around men and tends to keep to herself, he is cautious and gentle when he offers to help her while her ankle heels and while she adjusts to the idea of staying instead of running. For the first time ever, he plans to go after something- rather someone- just for himself.
I have loved so many books in this series with the theme of a stranger coming to town who is in need and the Blessings people rising up and helping them. I have no idea if there is really a town out there like this, but it is nice to imagine there is.
Cathy Terry is on the run from an ex who has enough wealth to have her under surveillance and tracked because he fears she knows enough about his bad dealings to turn him. It was a good strong suspense element in the story. But, it was also neat knowing she had a background of living off-grid and living out in the wilderness. Her skills come in handy when a few exciting incidents crop up. There is even a side story of cattle rustling in this one that affect Duke and his brother's herd. I liked that the romance was surrounded by all these other activities and situations.
The romance was on the sweet side and felt slow-burn even though time-wise it wasn't that long. Duke is around forty and Cathy is also beyond thirty. They are mature adults who know what they want and communicate this well taking things step by step and facing things together whether it's Duke's over-protectiveness or Cathy's impulsiveness.
Overall, I enjoyed this one, but I did have a couple niggles. There were some meandering moments and a few times where the story would go off on a new tangent and wrap that up with me wondering what it had to do with anything other than an incidental side story. The biggest tangent was toward the end when the author did this rapid check in with several families around the community like this was the final story, but based on that last tantalizing sentence about a stranger coming into town on his bike, I don't think it was. I had a couple moments when I thought the book was wrapping up only to have it just keep going with another thing that strung out the end. It did finally arrive and was adorable.
Then there was a spot in the story that seemed to come out of nowhere when Cathy chose to get judgmental toward the rest of the town for a specific neighborhood being neglected. I'm not down on her for seeing a need and wanting to do something about it. That's actually great and shows a big heart. But, here's the thing. The problem was an absentee landlord from another part of the country. I didn't like that she was shaming the locals who had proven time and again that they did not deliberately neglect any kind of need they came across even to strangers and newcomers like herself. She'd gotten millions in alimony after her divorce and she was able to throw that at the problem. Again, that was good and generous, but those people she tried to shame weren't loaded like that and did pitch in where they could when they understood the issue. It took me more words to describe my issue than it took up in the book so this really wasn't a big thing in the plot, but it stuck in my craw.
While there were drawn out moments at times, this complaint is not about seeing the series regulars showing up throughout Cathy and Duke's story taking turns playing important roles. I like the little check ins as Duke and Cathy encounter all the people in their usual places and at their usual activities.
In summary, it was a sweet heartwarming story taking place over the holiday season in a setting I adore with characters I found engaging. I can recommend this book/series to those who like gentle pace, adorable cast of small town characters, and a romance with a pinch of spice.
My thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the complimentary copy of Once in a Blue Moon by Sharon Sala for the purpose of reading and reviewing prior to publication. My opinions are my own, and no one has influenced them.
I have now read quite a few books in this amazing series. At first, it took a bit of time to get used to Ms. Sala’s writing style, since so many characters have a point of view, and it changes quickly and often. Now that I have adjusted, I no longer find it distracting. In fact, I enjoy it.
Once in a Blue Moon is a delightful romance that kept me engaged from the first page to the last. The plot is so unique, and the characters are real, both are heartwarming and touched my heart. This book has a bit of it all. It gives a great feel to small town USA and the endearing characters in Blessings, Georgia. Once in a Blue Moon even has a bit of suspense, which I’ve come to expect in Ms. Sala’s books, and a wonderful love story to enhance my reading experience.
Cathy Terry’s character is spunky, a true survivor. Her ex-husband refuses to leave her alone, so she takes matters into her own hands and disappears, hiking across the country and landing in Blessings, Georgia. I loved her surprise when she meets the citizens and her amazement when she welcomed with open arms. As the survivor of an abusive husband, she deserves to find her soulmate.
Duke Talbot is a true southern gentleman and a charming hero who touched my heart from the first scene. His determination to get to know the mysterious Cathy quickly endeared him to me. He’s such a protector, going out of his way to embrace a stranger in trouble.
The romance between Cathy and Duke is sweet, and the attraction is strong. It centers the love scenes more on the emotions and not the physical aspect of making love. I enjoyed their love story and wanted them to have a lovely happy ending!
If you like small town USA stories with an endearing set of characters, along with a great romance, then you will love Once in a Blue Moon as much as I did. Each book in this series is better than the last. Although Once in a Blue Moon reads as a stand-alone, I strongly suggest reading the books in order to capture the essence of this wonderful and quirky small town. Happy reading!
This is one series that I hope continues for a very long time!
Cathy Terry did the unthinkable, she divorced Blaine Wagner. Blaine is a billionaire with a name that is well known. The day of the divorce, Blaine's parting words were one of a threat. Knowing that her every move was being watched, Cathy devised a plan.
Her plan got her to Blessings, Georgia, where she hoped to stay for the winter. Cathy stayed under the radar, until one day while out running she fell and Duke Talbot witnessed the fall and takes her to the hospital. Once Cathy is ready to be released, through the grapevine that she needs a ride home, Duke offers again.
Duke Talbot lives with his brother and his wife. Together, the brothers work their parents' farm. Duke the older of the two, has always been one to look after everyone. He can't help himself, but to continue to insert himself into Cathy's life.
Just as Cathy has caught the Duke's eye, he has caught Cathy's. What has started out as friendship, quickly becomes something more.
As Cathy begins to feel more confident, she makes a run to the next town and runs smack into an old acquaintance. Cathy knows that word will get back to Blaine, but she hopes he has decided to move on and let her be.
The people in Blessings are starting to know Cathy, so when a man shows up at the B&B and asks questions. Rachel Goodhope becomes suspicious and decides to make sure Cathy knows someone is asking about her. Cathy is sick of running, and decides she's going to take matters into her own hands, unsure how it will unfold, Cathy begins driving around to locate and confront the man, who can ruin the life she has rebuilt.
I love revisiting the town of Blessings. A town filled with good people who care about everyone else, and easily welcome a newcomer into their folds. Feels like being with old friends while reading.
I received an ARC from NetGalley via Sourcebooks Casablanca and I have voluntarily reviewed this book.
This is one of those series that can be read as standalone stories in pretty much any order. I have read all of them so far and always enjoy a visit to Blessings, Georgia. Each story has someone ending up in Blessings either looking for something/someone or they are running away from something/someone. Blessings is a haven for these people and the other residents welcome them with open arms. In this story, Cathy Terry has run from LasVegas after her divorce. She knows that her ex-husband would just as soon have her disappear than worry that she might let out some of his secrets. She ends up in Blessings for a few months to regroup, but the magic that seems to happen when someone injured or damaged shows up, is about to make it her new home.
There are several things happening in this story from cattle rustling, stalking, poverty to love, caring, forgiveness, community and generosity. There is a poor section of town where the residents are not only poor, but their homes they rent are falling apart around them. Cathy wants to help and sets her mind to it. Meanwhile her ex-husband hires a PI to find her and let him know where she is, so there is some stalking and some suspenseful moments. Of course there is romance as there is in all these books. This is a light read, with a happy ending. This is a faith based story so there is some talk about God, scriptures and church although it is not a major part of the story. I enjoy this uplifting series, as it always makes me smile. Amy Rubinate has narrated all the books in this series. She has a pleasant voice and uses her tone, inflection and expression to give the characters voices as well as to make the story more enjoyable. I do enjoy the books she narrates.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
It was lovely to be back in Blessings, Georgia. Once in a Blue Moon is the 10th book in the series and you’d think I’d be getting tired of it by now but I still love it and look forward to every book and spending time with these good people.
We see divorcee Cathy Terry, stopping in town for the winter after walking out on her life after threats on her life from her ex-husband. When she falls while out jogging, local farmer Duke stops to help her. This is where Terry’s introduction to how the good people of Blessing look after their own begins. And so does a budding romance between Duke and Terry.
Terry is a strong woman who came from humble beginnings and married a millionaire but she is right at home in Blessings. Duke is a big overprotective farmer with a history of staying the wrong thing to women and seeing him smitten with Terry was cute. He treats her like a queen and I loved that.
Aside from the sweet romance which is central to the story, we deal with accidents, cattle rustling, a rabid animal, shootings, a viral video and much more. There is never a dull moment and the story flows well and is so entertaining. I loved Once in a Blue Moon. This is another great story from Sharon Sala.

This is a lovely little romance not only between Cathy and Duke, but the town of Blessings as well. The banter of the residents make you feel like it’s a real place with real people that have known each other for years. I liked Cathy and Duke right away, enjoying how they just knew there was something between them and no need to fight the attraction. The physical part of their relationship was behind doors, relying on the romance and friendship, so it will appeal to a wide range of readers. At times it seemed a little too sweet, but the suspense kept it from going into syrupy territory. This story can be read as a stand-alone.

Once in a Blue Moon by Sharon Sala is a beautiful story. Cathy runs away from an unhealthy relationship and ends up in Blessings, Georgia. Cathy has several experiences that help you get to know her and the town better.
Duke meets her after he sees her take a fall. Duke is awkward and adorable. I loved how he was open and honest with her about his feelings. Such a breath of fresh air in a romance.
I have not read all of the other books in the series but you fall in love with the town’s characters and want to go back and read their story.
I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a heartwarming story. It reminds me of books by Jodi Thomas. Although not a Christian book it has some christian references.
Sexual content- kissing, physical scenes are behind closed doors. Violence - shooter, abusive ex husband
This author always entertains me, whether it be a small town romance or a suspense. This one was a bit of both. I love the town of Blessings, never known small town life myself, perhaps it would be a blessing and a curse...no secrets. Going to this town is like putting on comfy slippers, whether you've read them all or just a few, each story stands alone. I do love revisiting past characters though, seeing their journeys. Cathy and Duke are great characters. She's on the run from her ex and he's just an all round good guy. Rabid coyote, possible hit-man, small town gossip all make a very funny and entertaining tale with of course a happy ending. Loved it, bring on the next one.
Once in a Blue Moon by Sharon Sala features Cathy and Duke taking us back for the 10th visit to Blessings, GA. A sweet romance with a HEA ending. Well written with reliable characters told with a touch of humor. Updates on family relationships, neighbors, and the community is like visiting old friends. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Thinking it is time to go back and reread some of the previous books, I'm not ready to leave Blessings, GA just now.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
Welcome back to Blessings, Georgia!!!!! Sharon Sala has written another amazing book in this addictive Sweet series. Once In A Blue Moon is a fun-filled romance with the perfect drama incorporated, in her exceptional writer’s dialogue. Duke and Cathy’s romance, unexpected adventure, and HEA are what fans have come to expect from such a talented author. Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks for the advance copy. My thoughts and opinions of this book are solely my own.
This book was way longer than it needed to be. Unnecessarily long. It could have ended on page 245 and than had a short epilogue, but for some reason the author just kept writing. It actually could have been a lot shorter then that as it had a bunch of side stories for a bunch of different people who never really played into the greater story at any point.
The kid with too many siblings and his mom who kept pulling him out of school to help her...no point! The cattle thieves? Nope! No point. Guh, just...why are these things in here if they don't add to the story and how did they get pass the editor??? How the the additional 50 some odd pages after the marriage proposal get pass the editor???
This book could easily be 100 pages shorter by cutting out the extra junk at the end and sewing it up all pretty in a Epilogue. I mean, that shooting scene? Completely unnecessary add in to try and continue to hold the reader's attention. I digress. All those side trips to cover random people who don't have anything to actually add to the plot? Cut it. 100 pages gone, easy.
Anyhow, this book played on many of my pet peeves. Cathy is supposed to be this woman who had basically been trying to get away from her ex husband for the past 11 months. The story says that he verbally abused her, and hints once or twice that maybe he might have physically abused her as well. But this woman has no issues or hang ups about getting into a fast, hot and heavy relationship with some guy she just met because she fell down on the street? Seriously?
In two weeks they go from complete stranger to randomly making out, out of seemingly nowhere, to having sex (okay fine, I guess), and then to engaged???? Come on. I mean, even two normal people with no hang ups would be considered crazy. At a week and a half he's showing her the house that he wants to buy and fix up FOR THEM. THEY HAVE ONLY KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR ONE AND A HALF WEEKS!!!! If this happened in real life, I sincerely hope that girl runs the other direction cause good lord... Insta-love in a romance is a bit...awful. Insta-love of one person who was abused, to me seems a)unhealthy or b) completely implausible.
Moving on... I also found the dialogue kind of clunky in places. It didn't seem...natural. I also felt like there was a lot of telling rather than showing going on, if that makes any sense.
Conclusion
I do not understand how this book rates so high. It's got some clunky dialogue, completely unnecessary chunks of random peoples lives that have nothing to add to the story, a hhhhuuugggeee amount of unnecessary writing after the way too soon marriage proposal. These people knew each other less then two weeks before Duke was buying a house he wanted 'them' to live in together AND SHE WAS COMPLETELY ON BOARD WITH THIS. They were engaged in two weeks. Eeew. I like some realism in my romances please.
Let's never forget all the complaining I did while reading this. lol
Modern day romance set in Blessings, Georgia , a small town close to Savannah. A woman finds herself in the small town due to the kindness of strangers. The book was an easy read.
Cathy Terry is tired of running from her ex-husband who told her to watch her back. She leaves Vegas to Colorado to hiking to Blessing Georgia where she meets Duke Talbot who rescues her after she sprains her ankle jogging.
This book is part of her Blessings,Georgia series. I don’t think I’ve read anything by this author before and I think I’ve been missing out! This book was so good! Cathy is a kick ass girl who is trying to get away from her ex husband and lands in this quaint town. She meets Duke and sparks fly to say the least. The story was good and kept me up lastnight to finish. Definitely recommend! Thanks to Sourcebooks for the copy
Another excellent book in this series!! Highly recommend.
I've read each of the books in the Blessings, Georgia series and they keep getting better. The stories are all sweet, mostly wholesome, with a bit of excitement added. In this book, Cathy Terry, recently divorced from a Vegas high-powered casino owner, arrives in Blessings and rents a home there. Cathy is a jogger, and during a run she fell, injuring herself. Duke Talbot witnesses the fall, and swoops in to get Cathy to a hospital.
This fateful fall begins the story of Duke and Cathy. Of course, there is some suspenseful times when Cathy's vengeful ex-husband tries to find her, as well as a couple of other pulse-pounding encounters. I don't do spoilers, so you'll just have to read this excellent novel to find out the rest of the story.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
Seldom do you run across a heroine as strong as the one Sharon Sala has written in Once in a Blue Moon. Cathy is determined to start a new life and she knows how to go about it. She leaves everything she has and everyone she knows to hike alone across the country to escape a powerful and abusive ex-husband. When her old life starts catching up to her, she fights back to keep the life and love she has found in Blessings, Georgia. Duke doesn't believe a life including love is in the cards for him--until he scoops Cathy up off the ground and into his arms. He embraces the strength she portrays, but is right there to protect her when she needs a little help. Awesome hero. I was drawn into this book right from the first page. Great story telling by Ms. Sala. I was given a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
