A bit older so this book focuses solely on the algebra in a pure sense. It is a time before acronyms like FOIL were around. I like FOIL as people generally remember this throughout life but any deviation from it resulted in problems. For example, when I was a chemistry tutor, some students would ask to see how I multipled out anything greater than a binomial. It doesn't have sections in the more modern texts which often incorporate more geometry (so no focus on parabolas or circles). I did skip over a lot of the logarithm sections outside of the basics as now I would just use a calculator to find log 2.35. There were numerous word problem although one in particular was written poorly which I found out by finding the solution online. Overall, I enjoyed this text greatly.
