SEAN

I’m the heir to the Donaghue Irish mob family, and my father insists I find myself a suitable wife and get ready to settle down. Father wants me to marry a nice Irish girl, of course—preferably one with connections. But I have something different in mind.

I’ll pay someone to marry me. A fake wife. Someone pretty. Someone from the wrong side of the tracks. Someone who’ll grind my father’s gears. And as soon as I inherit, I can divorce her and get back to living my life on my terms.

When I meet my new wife-to-be for the first time, I’m stunned. She’s all red hair and curves and force and fire. She has a snappy retort for my every word, and she aggravates me to no end. Fake wife or not, she needs to be tamed, and I intend to have her my way, no matter what it takes….

BRIDGET

My parents have both passed away and I’m living a humble, solitary life, working a menial job in a mediocre neighborhood in Ireland. That all stops when some old “friends” of my father show up, threatening to out my da’s deathbed secret—a secret that could get me killed, or worse.

I find out about an Irish-American guy who needs a wife to keep up appearances. The terms sound simple enough: play the part of wifey in public, and do whatever you want behind closed doors. And the money could go a long way toward paying off the medical bills left behind after my mother’s death.

But when I finally meet Sean, he’s insufferable. Arrogant and haughty, so sure of himself and his opinions. He’s also incredibly, painfully hot, with icy blue eyes and dark hair and a charming smile. As irritating as he is, I find myself wanting him, even if this is just a business transaction. Because that’s all it is.

Right?

Maura Rose is a long-time lover of the written word with a penchant for cooking (and eating) copious quantities of Eastern European food. When she isn’t busy wrangling her two adorable children or spending time with her patient and eternally supportive husband, she can be found cruising the back country roads of the California county she calls home with the music cranked up to full blast and singing along at the top of her lungs. It is during these moments of solitude that she dreams up most of the plots of her spicy romance novels.

This was a pretty short irish mob story not dark at all pretty good book.. also this is a new author for me :) I might check out some other books.

I felt bad for Bridget her father is dead and his old "mates" wanna use that and blackmail for her to work for them.. saying her father was a rat.. and well.. you know how mobs feel about rats... but she takes a deal her cousin tells her in the states that has her being the bride of a Irish mobster Sean.. a fake one.. and boy she calls him out in the first minutes 🤣🤣 and the banter between the two was funny and hawtt!!! She didn't take his bs and stood her ground.

Seannnn!!! He was a good alpha sharp, protective and charming and he got annoyed whenever his Bridget would sass him back lol.. he was surprised how she got along with his dying father, and the family business...even if she annoyed him he started to fall for her.. he was going to make sure no one hurt his wife.. i love it!!!

My only problem with this was it was short.. wish it was longer :( hopefully the next book has them making a appearance.

No ow/om drama, no cheating, Dramaish, slight secondary charas, sexy times, no virgins (didn't talk about her past mentioned he dated in his but nothing serious.)

Sean + Bridget

✔️ Mafia Romance
✔️ Marriage of Convenience
✔️ Strong Sassy Female Lead
✔️ Both experienced
✔️ HEA

Well, it was just an okay read. I loved the fact that this book had a strong female protagonist who knew how to hold onto her ground when the male protagonist was being hotheaded about something. Their bickering was too much fun to read. But something was missing. Like I believe they had chemistry but the falling in love part wasn't executed nicely enough for me to actually believe that they were indeed in love. I couldn't really say it was insta-love either but the timing was sorta fast. However, lust was definitely there though. There wasn't any intense violence.

This is a novella with no actual full story but oh how I wish it was. It has all the elements for a good story.

Strong female heroine, Irish playboy polyglot turn mafia boss, missing younger brother and a murder plot. All good base but no story.

This book takes place over approximately two months and though I know it's a short period of time, with the exception of the declarations of love and solved murder plot, everything else made sense. Hell, even the murder plot made sense. It's all just about time frame.

I loved the flow of the story and I enjoyed their honesty. About business and family. I just wanted time with them as a couple and individuals.

I wanted to learn more about Irish pagan medicine and see Sean and his father repair what was broken by the death and abandonment in their family.

So much to explore. It's a shame the author couldn't be bothered to give us a full novel.
