Rate this book
The W&A Guide to Getting Published provides the would-be published author with expert knowledge on securing a book deal – from preparing a manuscript for submission, to finding an agent, from working with an Editor, to effective self-promotion. It considers all stages in the 'selling' of your idea and manuscript and gives up-to-date information on how the publishing industry functions and how authors can best navigate its mysteries and complexities.

Each chapter provides practical, how-to advice on what to do, where to seek additional help, what costs might be involved, cautionary dos and don'ts, and useful case studies.

This guide considers all publishing formats (print, digital and audio) and markets (fiction, non-fiction, children's and books for adults) to offer all-round support for the budding writer.

Excellent book with a lot of information. A little overwhelming, but that's because it's so jam-packed with everything you would need to know about the subject. Chapters are well laid out, and easy to read and understand.

Glad I have it to refer back to as and when needed - I'm sure I will be plenty! Highly recommend for writers who wish to be published either traditionally, or self-pub.

This book outlines the publishing process in a way that is accessible and easy to understand, and the industry insights, diagrams and case studies all make this an engaging read. It illuminates all of the considerations which you need to address is you are submitting your work to an agent or publisher or planning to self-publish, covering everything from first drafts, editing and submitting, to book design, printing, distribution, marketing and publicity. Having a greater understanding of the process, and what it will need from you, stops you going in blind and helps you to be more prepared and to have realistic goals and expectations. I feel much more ready to face the publishing world with this book under my arm - as they say, knowledge is power!
