I am still surprised that Aliya Bukhari's books are not on GoodReads.
Deewar-e-Shab is quite similar to Khwab Saraye in its grandeur, the canvas of the story, the number of characters and sub-plots it deals with it, and the pain and anguish they endure.
If I have to compile a list of my top ten, Deewar e Shab will surely make its way into it. I've read this novel not once but twice. The story is beautifully woven. No character seems to be useless. If we talk about it's narration, it is phenomenal!! Deewar e Shab's narration can be cited as perfect example of Urdu's grace. Aliya Bukhari has really used beautiful words that add to the appeal of the story. This novel is about 1020 pages long but nowhere does it seem to be dragged. I will definitely recommend Deewar e Shab.
