It’s argued that the recent search for Bigfoot officially began on September 21, 1958, when journalist, Andrew Genzoli of the Humboldt Times, featured a letter from a reader about loggers in Northern California concerning large footprints they’d found at a work site. What began as a fun article turned into an almost instant national sensation and since stories of the elusive creature have poured in, not just from California and the Pacific Northwest, but from around the world.
BEYOND THE BIGFOOT features personal eyewitness accounts and terrifying encounters, many taken from the transcripts of the popular podcast, iNTO THE FRAY. These stories are unique and scary. They will leave you wondering what this creature is and will no doubt give you pause before you cross the wood line and enter the woods.
This book is awesome! I decided, like an idiot, to read at bedtime. What a mistake! Had a rough time sleeping because of how reading these stories made me feel, chills on my neck and everything. For anyone looking for a great read, pick this up! Hopefully, Shannon comes out with another book with more stories! Definitely worth the read. Way to go!
Oh for goodness sake. Not what I needed to read as we contemplate a camping trip! I’ve read a few books on Bigfoot, some fantasy, some, like this one, “eyewitness accounts.” And there is one question that keeps growing bigger for me. How is this mocked as pure myth and fantasy? A giant apex predator/north American wood ape acting the way a giant apex predator/ North American wood ape would act if it were real? I don’t see the outlandish part. I’m also not saying I’m an outright believer, but I definitely don’t see the fantasy here.
This is the first book in what will hopefully be a new series about Bigfoot and Dogman encounters. These stories were shared with the author on her show Into the Frey. Thanks to her listeners for sharing their frightening encounter stories and I hope more will continue to do so, as these are my favorite type of Bigfoot book. The stories are told in the witnesses own words and there are some good ones here that have changed lives for certain. I'm definitely looking forward to more books. The audio book is out and perfectly complements the text. Narrators have soothing voices.
Shannon LeGro host the premier podcast for stories of high strangeness, and she presents in this book some of the more shocking encounters shared with her over the years. These encounters will keep you up at night. As always, Shannon presents them without judgment or criticism. She lets the eyewitnesses speak for themselves. This adds a layer of legitimacy you don't get with other hosts. A truly remarkable collection of tales by a truly remarkable host. Thank you Shannon.
This is a well written easy to read collection of stories about Bigfoot. I really liked the two stories, dogman on temple road and scarface. All the stories were good but I really enjoyed those two. A quick run read interested in the idea of Bigfoot
Generally I like Shannon LeGro and her podcast "Into the Fray". I think she has covered the topic of Sasquatch/Bigfoot in an interesting and honest way. However, I'm not crazy about just hearing sighting stories of paranormal creatures, I like an interview process to help me make up my mind on the believability of the interviewee, that's why I prefer someone like an Art Bell or Ian Punnett (RIP to both) who are willing to question their guest. This book is just filled with encounters of bigfoot told by various people, which is fine, I'm willing to look past my own wants.
But then the book is also filled with multiple stories of the cryptozoological creature Dogman, as well as Bigfoot/Sasquatch, which for me, takes away from the subject matter at hand. Being generous and saying you believe in both of those creatures, well I won't judge anyone who does, but they're clearly two different creatures/animals with different behaviors, so conflating the two together just didn't work for me and honestly hurts the research of both subjects.
Too many “suddenly” as though hardly any of the story tellers thought through what they were doing. There are the typical prohibited places, and as usual, the warnings are ignored launching the story tellers into grave danger. Of course, all escape the dire circumstances. If these folks know where the hot spots are, they should round up like minded believers (like me) and head to the hot spot. I know Big Foot hunting is an individual pursuit even when groups are formed. It still comes down to the individual, and it is nearly always self funded. I don’t doubt that something happened to the story tellers, and I applaud their willingness to share their experiences. However, the accounts seem fantastical. Legro shares her experience with the unknown as an example of the emotional impact it has on an individual. All and all, the collection is worth reading for readers who are interested in the subject.
I liked this, although some of the people sharing their stories acted so stupidly that it's hard to understand that kind of behaviour. Human curiosity is an odd thing that people need to get a handle on sometimes. Essentially, if Bigfoot creatures do exist, and it's a big IF, they clearly don't want to be discovered. Who could blame them? They'll either be shot by humans for social media attention, glory, money, etc. Or end up dissected in a lab or behind bars in a zoo. They really should stay away from us and in turn, we should leave them be and have respect above curiosity.
This was an enjoyable read, considering the book delivered exactly what was promised.
A collection of short stories, eyewitness accounts and anecdotal tales. Easy enough for anyone interested in the subject of cryptozoology to read, and short enough to finish in a few hours. It will keep you pretty entertained; and might give you a few chills...
Great Read for fans of Bigfoot, ITF, or just a wonder of the unknown
Wonderful eyewitness encounters skillfully put together by Shannon and her team at ITF. I highly recommend this for anyone who has asked the question “but what if they really do exist?”
Interesting printed companion to a well known podcast. Narratives of individuals who have had brushes with the paranormal and cryptid experiences such as Bigfoot.
