What do supermodels, the Vietnam War, and the right front fender of a 1955 Oldsmobile have to do with marine aquariums? Absolutely nothing—that is, of course, unless you’re hobby pioneer Paul “Paul B” Baldassano and you’ve just published a book on your six decades of aquarium keeping.
Wonderful Storytelling and Advice Based on Experience
Imagine if your Dad or Grandpa was obsessed with tropical saltwater reef tanks and knew them inside and out with a lifetime of experience to share. Then imagine that you liked him a lot and wanted to start your own saltwater tank and he invited you over and shared all his stories and advice with you from his lifetime of experience. Also picture that he’s a good storyteller with a warmth and sense of humor similar to the Grandpa in The Princess Bride.
That’s this book. It’s like a warm hug from Dad or Grandpa with some sound advice and good natured ribbing. Reading it, you’ll feel right at home, even as a novice reefkeeper!
I would recommend this book for all Saltwater Aquarists. It is thoroughly detailed, humorous, and Paul's DIY creations are incredible. He has amazing tips and tricks throughout the entire book. I loved it both as a reef keeping guide, and as a hilarious read. Thank you Paul B!

Paul B is one of the most experienced reefers out there. He's honest, tells you his opinion and you can take it or leave it but know that he has one of the longest successfully running reef tanks in the world. It may not be the best looking but it is thriving. I find his sense of humor hilarious and entertaining even though I typically don't do comedy.
