The Magical Christmas Do Over

Listening time 5 hours 11 minutes

Thrown together by fate, three women get a second chance to fix their lives when they are given magical cookies that allow them to go back in time and do-over one Christmas from their past. They say once in a blue moon you get the chance of a lifetime, and this was that blue moon

A strange Christmas letter appears and the forces of nature begin to pull three very different women into a Christmas adventure they could never imagine. Macy Kennedy is a hot-headed powerful lawyer in Manhattan used to getting her own way, but this Christmas nothing goes as planned. Her fiance dumps her via a text, and her dreams of a true love and a Tiffany diamond ring crumble around her . . . again. It seems as if things just couldn't get worse when she receives one last Christmas card with news she never expected. Now, she is forced to go back home to the small town of Kissing Bridge she has avoided for over thirty years. She bribes her loyal secretary, Samantha, a sweet pretty girl with scars she never talks about, and the firm’s maid, Naomi, a woman with a secret gift, to drive her through an oncoming blizzard up to the small mountain town to accomplish the sordid ordeal.

Kissing Bridge is a rural snow town high up in the mountains, full of kooky neighbors, magical cookies and Christmas obsessed locals. Little can they ever imagine, that a rare mystical blue moon hangs high in the sky on this Christmas Eve, and magic lives in this enchanted mountain town full of love and friendship. Miracles happen every day in the adorable town of Kissing Bridge, but nobody expected this.

An adventure of a lifetime awaits, when three friends get a second chance to go back in time and change their lives forever.

4.5 stars rounded up - and I wasn't given a free copy to review. This is a sweet tale of three women who get that chance we all want in life - a do-over. Each one realises the mistakes they've made and work to fix them, although things don't go easily. While this is essentially a Hallmark movie in print (or on audio), the characters still deal with some serious issues. The story is lighthearted but not trivial. And there's the odd reference here and there to God, which I liked. Overall I really enjoyed this - and Jennifer Jill Araya was excellent on the audio.

Reviewed at Heart Full of Christmas

If you are a fan of the Christmas movie classic It’s A Wonderful Life… then you’d enjoy The Magical Christmas Do Over. It’s practically impossible to say very much about the plot of this engaging story without giving away spoilers. So, I’m going to have to go with trust the cover description and talk about the emotional response this story gives me.

Macy, Samantha and Naomi will have quite the adventure when they brave an oncoming blizzard in order to reach Kissing Bridge, a small, quirky town in Vermont. If you’ve read any stories in the Love on Kissing Bridge Mountain series then you’re well aware of the Landers sisters and their almost magical talent with food… and cookies. That talent will come into play once again.

At times The Magical Christmas Do Over is difficult to read because of the emotions, my reaction to one character and the reality that these three women face every day. I say that because there was a moment when I almost put this book down and was ready to walk away. For anyone else who might feel that way after the first two or three chapters I urge you… don’t stop, keep going, you will be rewarded with a fantastic story once you begin to see how it plays out. I was charmed, appalled and caught up in the lives of Macy, Samantha and Naomi… I believe you will be as well. There’s a lesson to be learned in this emotional Christmas story… I’ll let you discover what that is. I loved my time in this world and would definitely recommend this story to any reader who believes in second chances, the magic of Christmas and the strong love of family.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

I absolutely adored this book. It’s funny, moving, magical and uplifting. Three women get a chance to relive a Christmas from the past and that makes all the difference to the dead-end lives they’ve found themselves in. Macy, Samantha and Naomi have good hearts but have all allowed themselves to be backed into corners they don’t wish to be in. But thanks to a blue moon and some extra-special cookies it’s time for a new beginning. A beautiful, sweet story but with grittiness here and there. It’ll make your Christmas.

Fun Story

I really enjoyed the story. I think this was my favorite Kissing Bridge book out of all of them. I loved the story idea of going back in time and making one different decision in your life that would change your whole life. This is a Sweet, Magical and Mystical, Time Travel story that is also set at Christmas time. I borrowed this book through Amazon Prime's Kindle Owners Lending Library for December.

A perfect snowy kind of read set in a quirky little Vermont town. Sound like a perfect place to visit. I wish I could narrow down the reasoning as to why folks love Christmas so much ... the awesome foods, desserts, moments with your loved one, memories, it is all just so amazing ... well i just loved this read. so perfect ... well represented book cover. well done.

This was difficult to get into, since I saw nothing redeemable about Macey. Once I got into it, I enjoyed it okay. The fairy-tale ending was nice. The hard thing about this book for me was the head-hopping. The POV between the characters switched so often, just a few paragraphs apart. I appreciate the need for information that different perspectives can bring, but I felt a little dizzy bouncing around too often. Otherwise, it was a nice Christmas story of redemption.

Although it ignores the fact that if we change the past, we change our present and future, it is a lot of fun to see how a chance for a do over changes the lives of several young women.

Christmas charm

Linda has written a lovely book to warm your heart. The Landers ladies bring Christmas Joy to three sad people in a very creative way. The plot splits into three story arcs and then magically comes together to leave you feeling happy and very "Christmasy " with humor and love for all the characters. Fun, happy read.

An Adorable Second Chance Romance Novel That Will Leave You Laughing, Crying and Clapping is exactly what I was doing throughout this story. A combination of It's a Wonderful life and my favorite Hallmark movies, this takes three women back in time to their worst Christmas and gives them the chance to do it over! With the mix of a blue moon and some magical cookies, each gets to visit a pivotal time that could change their lives. Macy gets to find out the reason her mom was not part of her life, Samantha finds her siblings and herself in an abusive home, and Naomi finds her special talent. Each story will bring you tears of sadness and joy as they go through their stories and how just a few little tweaks could change their lives. It is a true lesson to us as we listen to this gem of just how the one decision can make a ll the difference! It is a joy to have heard this story during the holidays!

Through the narration by Jennifer Jill Araya, I was able to live through each character. I could feel each emotion, and there were a lot of different ones in this book. Her voices for all the characters gave each such a different personality and spirit. I loved her ability to incorporate both adult and children into her narration without making it feel forced. A very enjoyable listen, it is one you will not want to pass by.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book.
The author really did a great job writing this beautifully heartwarming and bittersweet story. It had me feeling so many emotions throughout and was a perfect Christmas listen. It is a reminder of all the things that are important and what makes the holiday so special. I enjoyed each of the character's past Christmases and seeing how they had been changed. It is a charming piece of work but also has some sad aspects.

The narrator did an outstanding job bringing out all the emotions in this performance. I already liked her as a narrator before in Death By Crockpot and I feel like she did an even better performance in this book. She did a good job keeping character voices consistent throughout and keeping the listener engaged. I enjoyed this performance and look forward to more from this narrator.

A cute, cozy little Christmas story that takes place in Kissing Bridge... a small town that I fell in love with when I read Linda's book, Death by Crockpot. This story has some of the same cast of characters (what, you didn't believe me when I said, small town? LOL).
Yup, the sisters are back to baking, and this time they've cooked up a batch of Magical Christmas Cookies, and just in time for three of the newest visitors, to their holliday-bedecked town...
So go ahead and get this lighthearted tail of Holliday fun. I loved it, and I think you will too!
I listened to the audio version and Jennifer Jill Araya proves again that she is right narrator for the job...

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The Magical Christmas Do Over by Linda West is full of second chances and hope. I so enjoyed this sweet listen with its small town charm and values. The magical season of Christmas is the perfect backdrop for this story. The author wrote great imagery in this story, and lets one explore the possibilities of doing over some choices. Jennifer Jill Araya performs this book flawlessly. She adds the right emotions and has distinguishable voices for the various characters. I found myself pondering the what if's, and realized how important family and friends really are. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will most definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Three women whose lives were miserable are taken to the Christmas town of Kissing Bridge and they time travel back in time to fix the tragic wrongs that broke them and caused their present woes. The time travel occurs after eating some of the Landers sisters "magic" cookies on Christmas Eve during a Blue Moon.

This was so good and cozy just like a Hallmark Christmas movie - it would make a great movie, too. Loved all of the characters - the real message of this story is love while you have the chance and live with no regrets!

Fantastic entertainment reading

I got so caught up reading that I did not want to put it down. I loved how it explained the plot by giving the reader a vision into the beginning reason for the cookies and how each ones story went from there. Some times you want to laugh and cry at the same time. Unexpected ending.

Truly enjoyed this fun novel. What a wonderful concept to be able to go back, look at, and do over a part of life to make you a better person, find the love of your life you missed, and just remember all of the good things you may have missed in a family member. "Oh if only I could"!

Looking forward to reading more from Linda West!
