Chock full o’ red flags: “do your own research”; “detoxifying”; ”my friend David Avocado Wolf.” And privilege! Even the basic-maintenance regimens she recommends can run into a hundred or two a month.

I have a yardstick by which I judge skepticism-worthy sources: on topics where I’m well informed, does the writer know what they’re talking about? Yes. Her section on entheogenic mushrooms was disappointingly short, but it was accurate. On medicinal (non-psychoactive) mushrooms she covers a great deal more than I can vouch for, but her information is all consistent with what I do know. And, importantly, Sansouci is unfailingly careful to state that all these treatments should be in-addition-to medical care, not instead-of. She is no science denier, she’s simply trying to compile and share information that has been underground for most of our lives.

Unrated, because I’m too cannabis-ignorant to assess this content. That said, I will be buying my own copy (this was a loaner). For reference to help me learn more about cannabis, for lending out to loved ones with certain medical conditions. I’m a skeptic by nature but I‘m also deeply curious; that curiosity led me to discover entheogenic mushrooms, which transformed my life for the better. What else is there for me to discover?

This is a great resource for anyone and everyone who has interest in exploring the world of medicinal plants. Jenny Sansouci makes learning about the healing magic of cannabis, CBD, and mushrooms very accessible. Her passion for and expertise of each topic really shines through, and her personal experiences to these plants and their healing properties helps the reader feel connected to her journey.

Jenny provides plenty of extra resources for both continued learning and product shopping. There are also quite a few recipes sprinkled throughout the book that I can't wait to experiment with!

A wealth of information! I love this book. It was a fascinating read. If you are curious about medicinal mushrooms and cannabis, then read this. There was just enough scientific detail and every day advice. Jenny did a great job presenting the information, making it interesting, and encouraging readers to experiment and consult their physicians to find what is right for them. You can feel her genuine passion for the plants and fungi, as well as health, come off these pages. Thank you for sparking the same in me!

Instructive and easy to read, it is a perfect guide for people willing to use mmj but without a weed background.
It’s written for people in the US in states with legal mmj, so some parts around weed doc, dispensaries and legislation are less interesting for someone outside the USA (as I am). Also a 1/4 of the book is only for cancer patients.
But I enjoyed the other parts of the book! I was nicely happy to see I’ve done my research good and that my weed infodump is on point. It was also an interesting read as the author really don’t enjoy THC effects and the book is really helping for avoid it and/or its bad side effects. The focus is really on medicinal use and finding what works best for oneself.
The mushroom part of the book is about medicinal mushrooms and is really similar to Stamets theories (the dude in Fantastic Fungi), and ofc I was super interested in the research around neuropathic pain and repairing damaged nerves (as someone with SFN), I’m definitely gonna try it. The part about psilo was a bit short but still good.
Also I liked the recipes inside, I’ve already tried shiitake bacon this afternoon and it was amazing.
Overall a good starter on mmj and shrooms!

"In a world that's feeding us endless processed junk food, pills, and chemicals, it's an act of rebellion to use natural plants and eat natural foods." - @jennysansouci, The Rebel's Apothecary

This is the first book I've purchased that has over 300 reviews and still has a 5/5 star rating on @amazonkindle, and let me say it's extremely well deserved. Jenny became extremely passionate about the healing powers of cannabis, mushrooms and CBD when her dad got diagnosed with stage IV prostate cancer. Two years of chemotherapy and her dad's use of the medicinal properties of these plants subsided all chemo side effects and he has continued to maintain stable. Coincidence? Maybe. But studies show there is some empiracal evidence to this.

Jenny takes you on an educational journey on how to use these plants with and without being intoxicated. She also introduced other healthy consumables Mother Earth has shared with us:

- If you're going to smoke cannabis, use a dry herb vaporizer.

- Buy shiitake mushrooms over any other grocery store mushroom.

- CBD is extremely underregulated. Always search and ask for lab reports from companies offering CBD products or get a lab test done yourself.

- Cook with turmeric, cayenne, garlic, ginger, and/or raw honey more often as they all have natural anti-inflammatory and immune boosting properties.

This is not a book that I ever thought I would put on my 'to read' list but, as it happened, I read it and it was pretty good! There were nuggets of information that I have never thought about (like what type of mushrooms you should and should not be buying at the grocery store) but will remember forever. I listened to this book on Audible and the narrator was easy to listen to and the whole book was worth the time. I recommend!

Incredibly accessible information on a complicated topic. There is a broad spectrum of entry points for adding new supplements and routines to improve overall wellness and combat specific issues.
I will come back to this resource many times in the future. I’m also super excited to try some of the recipes!

This book is amazing and changed my poorly educated mind about the miraculous healing of Cannabis. I was already stoked on Medicinal Mushrooms, bur learned even more. I love how approachable her information is and how easy her voice/words are to follow when talking about such deep topics. I had an easy time digesting the information in this book and felt very uplifted by it. Thank you Jenny.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

"The Rebel's Apothecary" by Jenny Sansouci was a pleasant surprise for me, as it isn't the type of book I typically reach for. However, it turned out to be a treasure trove of valuable information.

What struck me most about the book was its depth and the wealth of knowledge it contained. Sansouci delves into the history and intricacies of medicinal mushrooms and cannabis, shedding a light on their potential health benefits. Her exploration goes beyond the surface, making the subject matter accessible and fascinating for readers of all backgrounds.

The thing that sets this book apart is the evident passion and care that the author has for the subject matter. In a genre where many authors merely scratch the surface of their topics, Sansouci's genuine dedication to the healing properties of mushrooms and cannabis is refreshing. It's clear that she wants to empower her readers with valuable insights and practical knowledge.
