Locked behind the famous Graceland gates, Nichelle must work through a long list of suspects with no time to lose. But the closer she gets to the truth, the more danger she finds herself in.
The house of the King offers many clues, but will Nichelle be able to connect the dots in time to save a piece of history…and herself?
Brace yourself for murder mysteries taut with authentic plots that only a former crime reporter could write—pick up your LynDee Walker thriller today.
LynDee Walker writes about strong women who can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Her books have appeared on finalist lists for the Agatha and International Thriller awards—and once, on the weekly Amazon Charts US national bestsellers list smack in between two of her writing heroes.
LynDee is a member of International Thriller Writers, Mystery Writers of America, and Sisters in Crime. Before she started writing fiction, LynDee was an award-winning journalist who covered everything from ribbon cuttings and high school football to capital murder trials and high level police corruption. Her work has appeared in newspapers and magazines across the United States. She has written more than 20 novels and feels lucky every day to get to play with her imaginary friends for a living.
LynDee's favorite things are family, hydrangeas, porches, beaches, and books. She lives in Richmond, Virginia, where she is working on her next novel when she's not juggling laundry, children's sports schedules, and two very happily spoiled rescue dogs.
I first read the Dateline Memphis when LynDee Walker participated in the Elvis centric Christmas anthology, Heartache Motel, and just bought this standalone copy of the fun and intriguing tale. A visit to the home and museum of the music great to purchase a Christmas gift for her mother turns into a news reports dream. This novella is a great way for new readers to meet Nichelle Clark, crime reporter, and a happy plus for established fans. Less intense than the full-length novels, the book still offers a close personal connection with Nichelle as, on lock-down at Graceland, she tackles the excitement of a potential scoop of international interest and possible danger.
This the Nichelle I love. She is fully vested in life and things happen when she's around!
Nichelle finds herself stopping into Graceland at Christmas time to tour her music idol's home and get a gift for her Mom. A less then stellar hotel, a stolen Elvis item and Nichelle finds herself part of the story instead of just reporting on one.
This was originally printed as a collection by Henery Press with two other cozy authors participating.
Loved it before and loved it now. Nichelle at her early best.
Wherever Nichelle goes she manages to get right into the middle of a story. This time a stop at Graceland to get her mother a Christmas gift leads to being locked in at Graceland due to a missing and very expensive artifact belonging to Elvis.
I'm a big fan of this series and recently finished it. Then I realized that there were two novellas I needed to read. Win for me! I highly recommend this whole series.
I had never read any of the Nichelle Clarke novels, so this was a fun, quick read. I’m originally from Memphis and I’m a journalist. Perfect combo for me. It was cute and suspenseful.
I read Dateline Memphis in 2014 as part of Heartache Motel, a collection of 3 inter-connected novellas by Terri Austin, Larissa Reinhart, and LynDee Walker. At the time, I'd read Terri Austin's Diner series, but Larissa Reinhart's Cherry Tucker series and LynDee Walker's Nichelle Clarke series (it was the Headlines in High Heels series back then) were new to me. I went on to read all of both Larissa Reinhart's and LynDee Walker's books, enjoyed all of them, and recommend all of them.
A little novella gem in the Nichelle series. #2.5 finds Nichelle at Graceland for Christmas on her way to her moms. A theft and a lock in for all of the tourists has Nichelle sneaking around Graceland trying to find the stolen Elvis item and a slew of suspects with no help from the outside except telephone. A short little packed mystery!
A novella set between Books 2 and 3 of the Nichelle Clarke series. Amazingly for our intrepid crime reporter there are no dead bodies, but she instead she becomes part of a pre-Christmas crime scene at Graceland. Enough mystery to be entertaining without the full scale drama we associate with the series this is a nice little breather before heading back into the series proper.
SO much fun! Nichelle, Graceland, Christmas, a mystery and news. A quick read, but jammed packed with LynDee Walker trademarks: shoes, sass, and Nicey in the middle of the action. Loved it!
I love the Nichelle Clarke character. It is a fun story and I like the books better. Her two love interests are also good characters and they don't show up in the Novella
