Aya's finally connected with Bucho in both heart and body! Their lovey-dovey life together has finally started... or so she thought! Bucho's nephew suddenly shows up?! He even said he's going to stay a while... He's a little cheeky, but she just can't hate him. Who would've guessed, he's now going after Aya?!
This is the type of manga series that appears to get better and better with each volume. I am actually surprised at how much I've enjoyed the past couple of volumes opposed to the way that I was feeling last year about the first volume. This is such a sweet volume. The declarations of love make it even more endearing. One of the highlights of this particular volume is that Bucho's nephew comes to stay at their house. He's weird towards Aya not only because he may be a little bit of a jerk, but also because he's trying to protect his uncle. What is so interesting is that no matter how much he attempts to criticize and hurt Aya, she still stands strong and is determined to be the best partner to Bucho. Things work out for the best, but it was interesting to realize that there is actually an age gap between Aya and Bucho. It explains a lot of things regarding the way they interact as characters. Overall, this was another good installment into the series.
I am very glad that this series doesn't continue to dwell on the problematic getting together that these two had. Each volume is getting sweeter and sweeter, while also remaining steamy. We are getting to know our characters much better, and I am excited for the continuing volumes!
This volume was the first time the characters started feeling more fleshed out to me. We learn Kamiya’s first name is Akira and that he’s a whole 12 years older than Aya, which would put him at 39. I was a little surprised since art-wise he doesn’t look much older than her, but then I suppose that's hard to convey in manga drawing since details in the face aren’t generally focused on. I suppose small differences like 10 or so years would be really hard to portray since 40-year-olds aren’t exactly riddled with wrinkles or anything.
Highlights of this volume include Kamiya professing his love for Aya again, this time outside of sex and telling her he wants them to date with marriage in mind. The main plot, however, focuses on Kamiya’s high-school-age nephew Hiroshi inviting himself to stay with them for a week while he checks out universities.
Hiroshi is...a hard character to like at first. He both insults Aya and comes on to her at the same time. He’s not exactly portrayed as a love rival...more like an insolent brat. He crowds her space and kisses her hand, while alternately telling her she’s unattractive and that he can’t believe his uncle is with someone like her. I guess it was supposed to be something like a school boy pulling on his crush’s pony tail or something? Maybe? Also, warning, they do see each other naked and both times are Hiroshi’s fault .
Basically, Hiroshi’s a bit of a sh*tstarter. For Aya’s part, she’s just determined to get Hiroshi to like her because she wants to get along with Kamiya’s family. And he does get better, but only just barely. He leaves at the end of the week on friendly terms, but “jokingly” tells his uncle that he needs to stake his claim on Aya before someone (i.e. him) steals her away.
The most interesting part of that exchange is that we learn that Kamiya has had romantic feelings for Aya for longer than the start of this series, but he keeps it a secret just how long. Also, we still don’t find out who the mysterious Izumi is - his ex-wife, maybe?
Anyway, I would have rated this volume higher, but Hiroshi was annoying and I don’t know why such a big chunk of this volume was dedicated to him since he only appears briefly one more time in volume six.
I was bored over Boxing Day and I decided to waste money and get this on Kindle as it was on sale. All in all a bad decision on my part as Volume 2 was a perfectly decent ending to the series and this volume was not needed.
This wasn’t bad - more unnecessary. There is something here about putting up the hero's nephew for a week who creates some mischief, but not really. If you've watched / read romance manga before you can pretty much predict all the story beats here - meddlesome relative, insecure and naïve heroine who is "trying hard" to be worth - etc etc.
Mostly average - but mostly I am salty that I paid for this. If I had borrowed it from the library I actually wouldn't have minded this too much even if it is filler.
So this one shows a bit more of her boss's "sadistic" side, but I'd say its just a tad controlling but he doesn't mean it maliciously. His nephew shows up and proceeds to just be a nuisance. He's worse than a mother-in-law, I sweat lol But our girl rises to the challenge to meet her bf's family approval, even in the form of a nephew who shouldn't have a say. The nephew tries to pull some moves but shes not interested haha
The nephew coming to visit was… interesting to say in the least. He seemed a bit - mischievous- in some of his interactions. The overall flow of this volume was fast as was with the other volumes. It works tho - sorta. Parts of it did make me laugh tho, so it was cute.
Loving this consensual and story where the woman is into it and even initiates stuff! Story is still a little light but enjoyable. I like the hints of her being his pet kitten still. I wouldn't mind more of that.
But I am knocking this down to 3 stars cause his nephew was weirdo with all the nudity.
2.5 I’m trying to get myself to be ok with the weird dubious consent/ embarrassed of intimacy/ crying trope thing but I don’t love it. Also the nephew part of this was just extremely weird and unnecessary.
Actual 3.5 - Probably the least favorite in the series so far. The nephew was a little prick and consent was questionable more than once. On to Volume 4!
The storyline with the nephew...have to admit I really didn't care for that too much...but otherwise really enjoying the story and looking forward to more.
