I've binge-read this author for 13 books, I think. After this one I'm taking a break. One of the things I really enjoy about this author is that she writes short books that can be read in a couple of hours, but the story feels complete. This series, however, does not fit in to that. The first one (Colton's story) was good, but started what I thought was going to be a series ark about a war between the bears and wolves. Then the second story furthered this with Simeon's (sometimes it's Simon, so I'm not really sure) pack being more aggressive. However, the third started and suddenly this war between the bears and the wolf pack was over without any description as to what happened, just that the other wolf (Drake?) took over. Like, what? Then this book had some seriously deep elements (PTSD for both hero/heroine) but didn't take the time to develop the relationship, give the reader the experience of understanding what was going on with the characters...when it was over I was like, wait that's it? Too quick of a resolution and too much glossing over of such serious topics.
The P.O.L.A.R series is great, though! And the Hell's Corner series.
Military Bear's Mate is a paranormal romance by Candace Ayers. Ms. Ayers has given readers a well-written book loaded with outstanding characters. After years in the military, Tucker's bear is restless. Olivia has survived a nightmare and moves into her father's old house to try to live with her PTSD and anxiety attacks. Tucker and Olivia's story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I enjoyed reading this book and would be happy to read more from Candace Ayers in the future. Military Bear's Mate is book 3 of the Kodiak Island Shifters Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Boring and too simple for such a serious problem. Never understand a woman, or man, allowing abuse to be continued against them. A good pan, kitchen knife or anything really, can be used to defend yourself and if you are stupid enough to stay after the first time you are abused, then you should expect nightmares. Lacking communication and a completed ending. The troublesome wolf from books one and two was never dealt with in this book. Funny that in the beginning Tucker talks about Liv STILL having her lush figure but he hasn’t seen her since they were children. Just didn’t connect or care about these two. Olivia is basically a coward who gave up and expected to die. Tucker had to save her. Read in the box set through Kindle Unlimited.
Very good book it is the third in the Kodiak Island Shifters series this series is just getting better. Olivia Harris and Tucker Sterling are both having problems one with PSTD and the other with their bear . How do they over come them? This is a book you do not want to put down! I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is book 3, Tucker the eldest of the brothers reunites with his long lost childhood best friend Olivia. Turns out, she was his mate, even back then, before he ever knew. After many years, Olivia is different, her life has been very traumatic. Things come to a head, one night, and life will never be the same...for either of them.
Tucker and Olivia's story is the end to this series. For me it was just O.K. It left questions unanswered, such as the war; how was it settled? This part had been present in the previous two stories. Also, this story was too short. It was too bad that the plot was not developed more for a better and more satisfying conclusion.
I loved this story! Having purchased the three books in the set, they were quick and easy to get through. Good character development and a sweet HEA for a short book. I wish the stories could have been a touch longer or at least have a spinoff with the wolves in the story. That way we could catch a glimpse of what the bears and mates are up to in the future.
Tucker finally found his mate his long lost childhood friend. But this wasn’t the same girl he grew up with something was wrong with her. Thru patience and love Tucker gain her trust and his mate. The dominant side of her in the end threw me for a loop. Tucker is no wimp. Good/great read.
This story brings up the very real and extremely debilitating disease of PTSD. It is something our warriors/ soldiers deal with to often, but is also something which could affect anyone who has gone through a traumatic event. Well done.
I read all three books and I have to say it was hard to put these down till I was done. If you like these kind of books I highly recommend them. Very good reading.
A bear shifter and a human, both with PTSD. Tucker & Olivia shared a past when they were younger, so when she moves back to Port Ursa after she found out she inherited her estranged father's home, she never thought she would run into a Grizzly bear that calmed her PTSD. Little did she know that bear was her childhood friend Tucker. But when Olivia's past catches up to her, Tucker has the biggest decision of his life to make. Tucker & Olivia's story is so heartfelt & irresistible.
This was an ok story there could have been a lot more to it and I am still trying to find out what happened with Simeon that they mention in the second book but never again.
I enjoyed this short story better than the second one because more thought was put into it. While it takes place over a few days, Tucker is really concerned about Liv and her feelings.
I’ve always enjoyed her books but these ends so unfulfilled! Would have liked to know what happened to Simeon and Eric. Disappointed at all the ending of these 3 books.
I really enjoyed this entire book📙 series. It was filled no with family, loyalty, drama, action, romance and love😍.What romance reader doesn't love💘 a HEA!
