This review contains SPOILERS – so be warned!
I don’t know what possessed me to read this crap because I LOATHE cheating tropes and avoid them like the plague! All I can say it was a free KU and I had temporarily lost any lick of sense! So with that said, this is about a divorced couple who have known each other for 6 yrs, married for 4 and divorced for 1. They have a 4 yr old son they both adore. He is a Football star and she is a lawyer. She had a miscarriage and lost their baby girl 6 months before they broke up and was told that she may never again have any kids.
Now for the premise of the story. After losing their baby, the dipshit of a non-Hero cheats on his wife by having a drunk ONS with his Therapist. Apparently his excuse was that he was heartbroken of the loss of their baby and for his wife not giving him the attention this grown up ass baby needed, so he went to a bar, got drunk and f***d his Therapist. Then he sobers up, goes home and tells his wife and she rightfully kicks his ass out and divorces the loser.
A year later, they are sharing custody of their son and their mutual friends are getting married and are in their wedding party. Heroine finds out the dipshit is bringing a date to the wedding and she signs up online to find herself a date so that she doesn’t look like a loser in his eyes.
“Kira said I had a date?”
Emerson nodded. “She told me today after court.”
Why would she say that? I had told Derek that I might show up with one of our teammates’ sister-in-law if his wife arranged it.
But nothing was set in stone.
And if I was to be honest with myself, I knew that there was a part of me that had hoped Emerson would show up alone so I could continue with my New Year’s resolution, which was to convince her to forgive me and maybe remind her that even though I had screwed everything up, we did have something worth fighting for.
Looks like I should probably tell Chelsea Stockton to go ahead and set me up with her sister after all.
So the premise of the story is that he is so remorseful & fighting to get his wife back and that we would delve into why he cheated, right? Yeah..No! He was sooo remorseful & sooo fighting to get his wife back that he was considering being matched up with the friend’s sister-in-law knowing that his wife (ex) would be at the wedding. How is that fighting for the woman you still love?
As for the cheating? Yeah, No to that too. Only thing we got about that is this:
My stomach knotted, and I scrubbed a hand over my face. What I wouldn’t give to go back and redo everything.
Go back and tell myself not to drink so much before bumping into Victoria that night.
To stop feeling sorry for myself and my injury and the worries I had about my career.
To stop letting the pain from the miscarriage and infertility and Emerson’s desire to go back to work again put a stupid wedge between us.
To stop feeling threatened by the fact that I’d married a strong and independent woman who didn’t need me like my patriarchal upbringing had told me a good wife should.
To stop letting the hard things in life put distance between us when we should have been holding onto each other tighter.
One night had ruined everything.
And I’d regret my decisions for the rest of my life.
Ummm… say what????
So you are wondering by now why I didn’t DNF, right? Well, as I said in a another review, a few years back I read an awesome story about a married couple with a kid who also had the husband cheat on his wife and the story delved into the who, when, why and why again for the entire story! This was an awesome story with a very strong heroine who would not forgive at all!
I remember years later in that story that she said “Once trust is broken, once betrayal comes front and center, there is no coming back from it no matter how much you love or want someone” and she never took him back – until it was learned in the end that the OW he supposedly slept with had drugged him, took him home and made it seem they had sex when they never did. That was the only cheating story I ever enjoyed and that I thought was done right, so when in the first 30% or so heroine in this story stayed strong & unforgiving, I thought maybe perhaps it would be another similar premise as the one of that I loved, especially when she said this:
Because he hadn’t been a very good husband.
At least, he hadn’t been a good one when it had really counted—when he’d been presented with the option to choose me when someone else was right in front of him.
He’d betrayed me and all the promises he’d made to me when we’d gotten married.
And I couldn’t trust him anymore.
But alas, No. Authors are not that smart or original these days so what did I expect? For more than 70% or so of the story, heroine is going on dates with other men whom she finds fault with because they never measure up to the dipshit Evergreen. And for the record, it was the heroine who constantly made the first move and pursued him! Did he work for redemption? Nope. Did he seek forgiveness on bended knee and promise her it would never happen again? Nope. Did she tell him that if he ever so much as looked at another woman, she would cut his banana off and chop it into little pieces? Yeah, nope.
Every time I thought things were possibly going to get better, every time I thought there was a flicker of a chance for us to get back together, that stupid night would always be there between us.
No matter how much I wanted it to just disappear, it never would. It would always be right there, waiting on the sidelines for the perfect moment to come back and torture me. To torture her.

“He sounds like he’s been doing everything right,” she said. “He cut off all contact with Victoria immediately after he sobered up that night. He went to therapy. He’s given you space and respected every boundary and request you’ve ever given him. He made the divorce as clean and easy as he could, giving you everything you wanted out of it. Plus, he’s a great dad to Jaxon. Yes, he got drunk and made a huge mistake one night, and you are completely just in having your reservations. But I know you. And I just think that deep down, you do want your family to be put back together.”
And then we come to the part in the story at the 80% or so when she realizes that she will forgive him because, hey the girl is horny and her lady bits are always wet around the dipshit. So as she is about to tell him how she feels, the dipshit says:
“I just wanted to let you know that I’m bringing a date to the wedding tomorrow.”
My heart froze in my chest before plummeting to the earth, and it took a moment for it to remember I needed it to work in order to stay alive.
A date?
Vincent was bringing a date?
And I knew when I looked at him, I probably had the most confused expression.
“I know the last time we spoke, I told you I hadn’t started dating yet,” he said the words quickly, his eyes wary. “So I figured I should let you know before tomorrow so it doesn’t catch you off guard.”
And then of course after this lovely conversation, because again, it doesn’t matter how many times he humiliates & hurts her, she says:
“I think I realized today that I have forgiven you.”
“You’ve forgiven me?”
“No one is perfect. And I know you were under a lot of stress with your injury and I had become distant after we lost the baby.”
“But that still doesn’t excuse what I did.”
She nodded again. “I know that. And of course I wish it never happened. But we all have things we wish we could take back. None of us are perfect. And…” She drifted off and lifted a shoulder, glancing over at me with an almost wistful look. “I can see that you’ve done everything you could to make up for it.”
I’d certainly tried to. But it seemed like no amount of apologizing or groveling could ever be enough after what I’d done to her.
“You had a bad night,” she continued. “Where you drank too much and were more susceptible to being influenced.” She paused. “But no one is their biggest mistake.”
“You’re a good man, Vincent. And you are such a good dad to Jaxon.” She wiped at her eye, and her voice wobbled a little. “And I just think that it’s time for me to allow myself to really heal. A big part of that is to stop looking at the past hurts for validation and focus more on what is happening now. Like right now, I’m sitting in this truck with one of the best men I know. You’re not perfect. But neither am I. And I guess I just want to choose happiness now instead of pain.”
Umm, come again???
The other women in my divorced ladies Facebook group would probably tell me I was so stupid to want to spend time alone with my ex.
But I did.
I wanted to be alone with him.
I just wanted a night where we pretended things had never gone wrong and we were still together.
I didn’t want to go inside and be by myself. I had spent half my nights alone over the past year and I didn’t want to do it anymore.
Yes, Vincent was a babe.
If only my hormones would just agree with my brain right now.

So they finally get together and all is lovey dovey when author decides to throw another 💩 in case all of it so far wasn’t enough. You see, the dipshit now finds out that the woman he cheated with had his baby. A beautiful baby girl that’s she didn’t tell him of but because she is now dead, the baby is now his to raise….
Any reconciliation we might have going for us had gone down the drain as soon as the baby came into the picture.
She had forgiven me for cheating on her. She had forgiven me for betraying her and our marriage vows. But she wouldn’t be able to forgive this.
I had created a baby with another woman. I’d given another woman the one thing Emerson had craved the last few years—a baby girl. And if I knew her like I thought I did, there would not be a second olive branch extended to me from her.
I knew the moment I laid eyes on this little girl that she was mine.
Yes, she had Victoria’s button nose and heart-shaped face. But her eyes were the same dark brown as Jaxon’s and mine, and the way her dark hair was already showing a little curl was just how mine had been at that age.
So I’m thinking now, that this is when the stupid idiot of a heroine had enough of this dipshit and she would say “Hallelujah, hit the road jack and don’t come back no more….” (God, I LOVE that song!😉) Especially when she said:
“That should have been my baby,” she whispered, her voice coming out sounding so tortured that it ripped me apart. And with those words, tears started streaming down her cheeks. “I should have been the only woman you had a child with.”
But yeah, folks, No. She took his sorry ass back and had the gift of his cheating with the face of the OW as a constant reminder for the rest of her life! Lovely.
Now you say, HEA right? Well, did we as tortured readers (well…me really ‘cause I’m the one who read this crap!) believe that there is HEA for this snake in the grass? Well sure. He got to cheat on her, have a kid that he’ll spend the rest of his life seeing the other woman in, avoid a scandal because he didn’t want the press getting a hold of the fact that he cheated on his wife AND a free babysitter for life. So yeah, it worked out real well for him. Her? Not so much. Me?? I am soooo never touching another cheating story ever again. Promise. 😱 The End.

Note to self spoiler
The h has a miscarriage. He cheats on his wife. She divorces him. Takes him back a year later like a doormat.
Finds out at the end that the ow died, had his daughter, a daughter that the h couldn’t have, so doormat h raises the ow kid and takes the the cheater back.
What a happy family. Lucky h!

Hero cheats on heroine the night she has a miscarriage. They divorce and after they’ve reconciled he finds out he has a child with ow, and since ow died, he will have to take care of the child. And his wife agrees to go back with him and raise ow child. Not in this world. Stop humiliating women showing this kind of bs. We are not in 19 century anymore. And even then, women didn’t raise ow children.

There is nothing romantic about books that seemingly just want to torture the heroine as much as possible. Miscarriage, her husband cheats on her, and then he has a baby with the OW as a token to not only rub her face in the cheating but the fact she lost a baby. Might as well just have him stab her through the heart, jeez

The MMC cheated, and the OW got pregnant. She died, and the baby was brought to the Zero after her death.
The MMC and FMC were divorced (I think after he cheated) and had infertility issues.
They got back together, raising the child from the affair, and the FMC is now pregnant with twins.
Yeah, nope, not for me, not in this lifetime.

In theory this should have completely worked for me, it’s my catnip... cheating and remorseful hero, not so forgiving ex-wife, but something didn’t click.

Just didn't work -- and very disappointing because I'm a big fan of football sports-related romance. But if there was another obstacle to be thrown into the mix, you can bet it would have been. Overkill in my opinion. And another case of lack of depth.

It was okay.

They have a son which they co-parent.
But neither have 'moved on' are dating anyone else at the start of the book.
The reason for the he divorce was the husband cheated.
The couple were distraught over a miscarriage, not much detail, and he got drunk and slept with his physio therapist who was also drunk as she was on a break with her boyfriend.
He is really, really sorry.
He has tried to make amends, is a good dad and is in therapy.
Whether you would forgive him or not these issues are dealt with in the book.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
The cheating is in the past, the reader doesn't meet the other woman and there are no replays of his night with other woman.
Neither have been with anyone else since the cheating incident.
I quite liked it.
But for me the end ruined it by being so cliché.

So I'm about to go real harsh on this book, so if you were a fan look away now. This was going ok actually until we got to the part that the ow he cheated with had a surprise baby without telling the H Vincent. Plus, she conveniently dies leaving said baby to Vincent because the ow's family didn't even want her. So this author was obviously delusional when she wrote this. It'll definitely challenge you to see what kind of woman you are for sure. The beginning starts with them already being separated and him having grovelled and asking for another chance, but none of that is on page because guess the author decided it didn't need to be added for the H's redemption qualities. So you won't get a grovel if that's what you're wanting. Also, because they've been separated for over a year you'll the BBS inner monologues from our very fictional h Emerson. Why do I say very fictional? Because there's no way any woman would have not only accepted the weak AF cheating betrayal, but also to add the secret baby and be just dandy with it. Unless this exact story happened to this author and she's got the heart of Mother Theresa. This topic just wasn't taken seriously by the author. Not only that, the public tore into Emerson after their divorce with rumors claiming she was the one to have destroyed their marriage and her husband did nothing to stop the negative image. As long as he looked good right? Seriously wtaf? Was this author smoking something while writing this? I've read some vial cheating H's in books and I preferred them waaaaay more than this beta ass. Sorry, but because I didn't get to read him actually fighting to win Emerson back I couldn't get behind their very bland and lackluster romance. They'll kiss a few times, but that's all you'll get as well because they're working back to each other because they're soulmates. Give me a break. Zero passion. Back to the surprise baby. It took her like a month to suddenly forgive Vincent wanting to all of sudden want to be Evelyn's mom. Which was part of the reason they started drifting apart. Emerson was unable to have any more children. Plus SHE gets down on one knee and proposes to Vincent in the end. Either this author hates the FMC's she writes or she dislikes someone named Emerson. All in the name of forgiveness though right? Guess this author and the 5 star reviewer's must be the better people because there's next to no way this was even believable or had any redemption qualities to it. 😑🥲 Look, I like trainwrecks in books. 😂 I'll read about marriage in trouble and a filthy rotten cheater. The more angst to fill me up 🙈😂. But this? There was hardly any angst, but it pissed me right the heck off with how unemotional the author made the h here. Oh well can't like them all I guess.

I am conflicted, really conflicted. Because this book has one of the tropes i hate the most, if not the most - cheating. I normally just don't read these books because i know i get angry, frustrated and sad putting myself in the shoes of the one who was cheated on. But i guess i wanted to torture myself because after finding out the reason they broke up in the 1st chapter i continued on. It was hard for me but around the time she forgave him for it i also was ok with them being together again. He really seemed to regret everything and to really love her but i always start to wonder why would you have sex with someone else, even drunk like he was, when you love someone else. Even if you were having some marital problems at the time. Like i just never understood that and maybe never will.
Anyways, as i was saying, i got on board with them as a couple. But then came the ending of chapter 35 and i was crushed. Why, why, why did it have to happen? I mean, I realize that can happen in real life too but just as everything was falling into place, we had to find out he actually has a kid with the other woman from the night he cheated. From the one night that ruined his marriage. And when you think his wife had a miscarriage a few months before that night... I just..I don't know. I really don't know what i would have done if i was in Emerson's place. And if Victoria was alive i don't think their story would have ended the same way.

Not your typical second chance romance...
(4.5 Stars) I've often wondered what I would do in certain situations, but it's tough to know without actually being in the thick of things. When Emerson's husband, Vincent, cheats on her, she files for divorce, but they each discover that might have been a hasty decision, because the sparks are still flying higher than the 4th of July fireworks.
Corry does a great job of infusing a steamy clean romance with heartfelt sincerity and regret with this original story. These characters have gone through all the emotions and drag the reader along for the ride too and I appreciated that although cheating is at the center of all the trauma/drama, real remorse is felt and applied. This is one story that was really easy to settle into and enjoy.

I wasn't really sure how Emerson would get passed what happened, but the more you get Vincent's POV, you can't help hoping they'll figure things out. Lots of great tension, emotions, ups and downs. These two have really been through a lot. This is a bit of a roller coaster, lots of fun moments between them and also some sad ones. Definitely keeps you interested to see what would happen next. I did think the end felt a little rushed
Overall, a really enjoyable read. Unique storyline, not your typical second-chance love story between a divorced couple, so I liked something different.

Judy Corry has a distinctive way of writing and can make cute moments even in the most crappy stories .. like this one .. while I couldn't stand Vincent and Emerson, there were some good moments through out the book
So the story is about Emerson who finds out that her husband Vincent has cheated on her (he really did, no misunderstanding there) so she divorces him..then a year a half later they see each other and begin to think maybe they still love each other after all
I guess if you want your wife to forgive you for your cheating ( and actually begs you to have her back ) you have to have:
1) A nice body
2) A REALLY nice body
3) A REALLY REALLY nice body
and that was basically Vincent's formula on how he won back Emerson .. you're welcome

Drunken Vincent cheats on his wife with his physical therapist in a ONS. Emerson and Vincent have a 4 yo son but haven’t been able to get pregnant again so they are sad and stressed. When Vincent confesses she divorces him. Vincent grovels and sees Emerson several times a week at custody changes. The ow is out of the picture. Emerson tries a dating app and Vincent knows he better get his girl back quick now that she’s decided to date. Eventually they are on to their hea but the ow is killed a in a car crash and her sis it’s drops. 3 mo baby girl on his door step . This throws a wrench in their reconciliation for a few pages until Emerson decides to be the babies Momma and they get their hea.

I never read books about cheating. Never. It's just way too upsetting for me so I tend to avoid them like the coronavirus. Cheating is always a selfish, egocentric choice on the part of the cheater. There is never any excuse for it. Is temptation of the flesh strong & wicked? Yes. However, if you can't be stronger than it, then you have no business being in a committed relationship, muchless a marriage.
Anyhow, I decided to read this book because I found out the cheating happened in the past and not in the present day. Still a hard pill to swallow, but I was curious to see how this story would pan out. After all, I do love a good second chance romance so I really wanted to go on this journey with these characters and see how they'd overcome this insurmountable obstacle.
In spite of what is apparently a poor rating on my part, this book had a lot of good things going for it. For eg, I loved that wholesome, heartfelt feeling that ran throughout the whole story. The strong sense of family, love, redemption & forgiveness despite the heavy subject matter.
This book, furthermore, had no sex! I can't remember the last time I read a book with no sex ... haha! In fact, now that I think about it, I don't think I ever have. Surprisingly, I didn't really miss it. Sure, I was looking forward to them coming together in that way, but I was more curious about how the leads would resolve their issues. So that's a definite win!
Secondly, I didn't hate Vincent, the hero. I wasn't a fan of his at the start of the book, certainly (as I'm not a fan of all cheaters), but I didn't continue to dislike him as the story went along.
As for Emerson, the heroine. All I have to say is that she is a much bigger woman than I could and would ever be because I do not forgive and I don't forget.
People often say that forgiveness is for the wronged - a release and an unburdening of yourself from the tentacles of hatred - not the person who wronged you, but I say fuck that. Unforgiveness has never been a burden for me. For some people it might be a heavy load, but I carry that shit like it's nothing. When you do me dirty, you become a gnat in my consciousness and under the weight of my unforgiveness you shall be crushed, not me.
Anyway, unlike some of these self-righteous, moronic readers (talking about certain specific readers here, not readers on a whole who genuinely disliked a book for their own reasons) who read books with themes they don't like just to write thrash reviews (don't y'all bitches have a life??), I wasn't opposed to the thought of a couple getting back together after cheating.
I personally could not see myself taking back a cheater, but like I said I was willing to go on this journey with these characters. Therefore, my low rating is not a reflection of any anger toward the hero for cheating (otherwise I wouldn't have bothered to read the book at all).
The rating is a sum of all parts that didn't work for me and not just one element, aka the cheating hero. What's done is done. The hero's mistake was, therefore, irrelevant to my lower rating. The execution of the story, however, was not.
The cheating happened in the past and I guess at the time it happened Vincent had already confessed all the gory details to Emerson (why it happened, what did the other woman have that she didn't etc). When the story is being told now, in the present day - almost 1.5 yrs after the incident - we, the audience, are not privy to those details. Which was a misstep in my opinion because those details would have gone a long way in helping me experience Vincent's remorse more viscerally.
I wanted to know more in depth, and not least of all see the entire journey of Vincent's redemption, his frame of mind leading up to & after the incident. His reaction when he sobered up and realized the gravity of what he had done (maybe in a flashback) to him beating himself up about it (more than he did) and working to win back Emerson's trust.
A lot of times authors have heroes grovelling for stupid shit, just to stroke the egos of the reading audience (I hate when they fucking do that). But this would be an appropriate situation in which we should have seen the hero grovel.
We were told he had remorse, and to a minor extent we could feel it, but we weren't shown it. As a result, his redemption story was missing that little extra something. I think actively showing him express that remorse on the page through dialogue, introspection & flashbacks would have been more effective. Saying 'I'm so sorry' once or twice and shedding a few tears in the present didn't seem like enough.
I wanted action AND words. I wanted to see him fight for her & take more risks with himself to win her back. I think after such a major fuck up, it's the least he could have done. It's the least we could have seen him do.
They didn't even have a decent conversation about how they will safeguard their new union from a repeat of the past. There were no reassurances.
Which brings me to my next issue with this story: Vincent was a beta male. Now, if done right the beta male hero can be acceptable to me. I've read a couple of books with beta male heroes in my time and they weren't horrible (the most memorable one being For My Lady's Heart by Laura Kinsale. I loved that book!). The alpha man - both in fiction & real life - will always be my preference, but I can tolerate a beta. Vincent, though, was kind of intolerable. He wasn't done right. He's the type of beta male that make even the most overbearing, ridiculous alpha seem like a catch.
Being a sports star athlete, he had the body of a god, but he was effeminate to the point of being off putting. His POV didn't read like a man's (not even a beta man). He pulled on his bottom lip like females often do, talked about having butterflies in his stomach, wore hats & big sunglasses simultaneously to disguise himself (wtf???), more weepy than the heroine and just did not in any way exude any kind of masculinity to me. Instead he came across more like a nervous teenage girl who wanted the high school jock to notice her.
I'm good with those beta males who are quiet and laid back and may tend to defer to his wife/GF (Helena Hunting's heroes come to mind), but when he's effeminate on top of it ... nah, that shit's too much, bruh. I can't take him seriously. So Vincent was a no for me.
Furthermore, despite his excellence in sports & his big bank account, he didn't have much going for him off the field.
Emerson is a lawyer. When he retires from the sport, the only thing I see him doing is being mr. Mom because Emerson will be the only one with a career. I take no issue with a man participating in the raising of his own children, but a man should be just as productive outside the home as his wife, if not more.
I may be a millennial (one of the older ones, but still a millennial), but I'm cut from the cloth of the old-school. I'm not into this whole new age, role reversal spiel. Not too much, anyway. A man should be a man!
Finally the other issue that kind of derailed this story for me was the big surprise toward the end. Just when I was starting to kinda sorta feel okay about them rekindling their relationship, that bombshell was dropped. It was unnecessary. How Emerson could continue to pursue a relationship with him after that, I would never know. That's why I said she's a way bigger woman than me, man, because I couldn't do it. Even if I still loved the man, I couldn't do it. I'd lose my fucking shit!
But she did it ... and not only did she do it, she even took it up a notch .
I guess Judy Corry is not a fan of traditional gender roles even to the slightest degree. She sure did everything in her power to emasculate Vincent. But I guess I should also count my blessings and be thankful that she didn't turn Emerson into some butch dominatrix (at least not that we got to witness) or overbearing shrew. Emerson was kind and sweet and I loved her quiet strength. Thank fuck for that, at least!
The fact that Her Football Star Ex has no on page sex scene (in fact I don't think it was even implied that the characters had sex during the course of this story) doesn't bother me, but if this is how Corry writes all her heroes I don't think I'll be reading any more of her stuff. Nope, I like my men a certain way and Vincent wudn't it!
Also why weren't the parents teaching that baby how to speak correct English? Yes, he's 4 and 4 yr olds may trip over their words, but this child was talking about 'I's going to get it for you, Daddy!' and 'You wasn't going to play with that'. His parents should correct him when he says things like that, how the heck else is he gonna learn?

Vincent, a pro QB, was unfaithful to his spouse, Emerson.
Vin learned 3/4 into the story that he had a baby daughter
as a consequence. Vin and Em had been divorced 1+ yr after
the affair revelation. They had cute 4 yr old son Jaxon. Em
was angry most of the story. Then they gained closeness,
then Vin's surprise dtr. Then 2 near miracles toward the end:
too much sugar, too much perfection.

This book had a different romantic element since the couple was once married and were finding their way back to each other. I enjoyed the pair but for some reason it never gave me tummy butterflies and I found myself just simply enjoying it. Which is not a bad thing, it just lacked that extra zing that I like.

Though they never stopped loving each other, they had a difficult time transitioning into the next phase of their lives. When close friends chose the exes to take part in their nuptials, unresolved feelings, regret and a new betrayal that hits close to home devastates the couple anew. Will they ever be able to move past the wrongs in order to make things right?
My Final Say: The drama that unfolded in this story was pretty darn realistic. The issues that the couple faced were hard hitting. What Emerson did concerning Vincent was very mature. I don't know that many would have done what she did.
Other: I really liked that this story was not neat and clean and tied with a bow. It had some grit and lots of pain. It was a sobering story on love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Readers who like second chance, family deep reads will like this one.

My Final Say: The drama that unfolded in this story was pretty darn realistic. The issues that the couple faced were hard hitting. What Emerson did concerning Vincent was very mature. I don't know that many would have done what she did.
Other: I really liked that this story was not neat and clean and tied with a bow. It had some grit and lots of pain. It was a sobering story on love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Readers who like second chance, family deep reads will like this one.

I really loved this book, even if they had divorced because he cheated. I know it's such a hard topic to read and so unforgivable. I saw a lot of reviews bashing it because they eventually got back together and I just don't understand it. It's crazy how people look down at stories of redemption. I don't agree with the cheating, never will, but he was obviously very remorseful and hated himself for it. He was upfront to his wife about it and did everything he could to atone for his mistakes. People writing reviews here as if they've never had a past, never made mistakes. Yeah there's no excuse for cheating but people changed. It's not like he was a serial cheater. He was drunk, miserable because of the miscarriage and the obvious rift that it brought upon their marriage. Not saying it's okay but it happens and he worked so hard to be a better person after it. People act as if forgiving someone is like taboo, sheesh. Forgiveness affects your soul more than you think. I thought that the book was very well written and I enjoyed it!

I don’t know what kept me reading this dreadful story. It just kept getting worse and worse. First is was an interesting start but boredom set in, then the plot twists completely torpedoed the whole book. I was not a fan of either MCs. Emerson was suppose to be the smart one and it didn’t t show with her decisions. She wasn’t a doormat but I would not have tolerated the ex’s behavior and forgiven his cheating ass so easily. There was no groveling. No begging for forgiveness. No dragging him through his shit. Vincent seemed to have gotten off easy. She practically begging HIM back to the relationship when she was wronged on so many levels. He continued to f up and basically got his happily ever after. I didn’t like any part of how this story went and it completely torpedoes by the middle and pitter pattered to the end. I was pissed invent didn’t even get his ass handed to him. This was not for me. The ending was terrible. The epilogue was useless and I could careless about them.

I loved this story. I was hooked from the start. It flows really well and I liked the originality of the plot. Definitely recommend this one.
