I wasn't terribly impressed with this one. First of all, I didn't consider many of them particularly healthy, and second of all, many of them are not really "one pan."

As an example, one recipe calls for making BBQ beans in a dish and then putting that dish on a great big pan with corn on the cob on one side and making BBQ ribs and putting them on the other side of your giant pan. Okay, technically it all fit on a big sheet pan, but come on.

I also didn't find all of the recipes very healthy, and I'm disappointed to see that a nutritionist supposedly wrote them. One recipe calls for taking a pan of ready-to-bake white bread rolls, cutting them in half, covering them with cheese slices, and then putting on optional toppings and then the bun tops, to make baked grilled cheese sandwiches. I'll grant that that one is a one-pan recipe, but processed white rolls with cheese and optional toppings do not make for a healthy supper. Some recipes certainly are healthier, but plenty of others are for things like cheeseburger sliders or fried rice. She claims her pasta primavera is a "healthy vegetarian dish" and it's white pasta, heavy cream, low-fat mozarella and some spinach and cherry tomatoes. She and I just have different definitions of healthy. I suppose it doesn't help that I am reading Dr. Mark Hyman's "Food Fix" at the same time and he rails against most of the foods that are the main ingredients in these recipes, like processed grains and unhealthy fats.

The book seems to be trying to please everybody with a scattering of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free recipes and then junk food pleasing ones and lots of meat-heavy ones to make others happy, and the end result is a hodgepodge of recipes that clash with each other. One minute we've got squash and turmeric and then we've got fried white rice.

Nutritional information is provided. Photos are provided for about 1/4 of the recipes.

This will be a nice cookbook for some, but was a miss for me.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.

Healthy One Pan Dinners by Dana Angelo White is a book I look forward to purchasing once its published. Why? I found her healthy recipes simple and appealing and a boon for people who want to cook even if their schedule is super busy.

At the start of her cookbook the author offers a pantry list featuring "10 Must-have ingredients," recommended cookware and a list of "20 Kitchen staples."

Some of the recipes you'll find include:

Sheet Pan Barbecue
Spatchcok Herbed Chicken with Parsnips
Sheet Pan Pancakes
Weeknight Chicken Pot Pie
Egg Roll Bowls
Lightened-Up New England Clam Chowder
Root Veggie Pasta
Grilled Cheese Sandwich Casserole
Mediterranean Hasselback Sweet Potatoes
Beef Stew
Simple Rice + Beans

Her recipes include the use of either a sheet pan, skillet, Dutch oven, baking dish or Multicooker plus slow cooker. You will also find "tags" showing whether a recipe is gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, under 30 minutes or freezer friendly.

All-around Healthy One Pan Dinners is a terrific cookbook.

Recommend.

After 4 plus months cooking dinner at home nearly every night due to the pandemic, I am desperate to change things up. If I can add variety and do less dishes, sign me up! This book does just that.

This book is perfect for a beginner cook or someone wishing to change things up. It's broken up by type of cooking such as sheet pan or slow cooker. This is perfect for planning and deciding if you have time to start cooking in the morning or if it's too hot for that oven.

Overall a well balanced cookbook that I will use again and again!

Thank you DK and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Registered dietician Dana Angelo White has written a cookbook for preparing food in six ways: sheet pan, cast-iron skillet, Dutch oven, baking dish, pressure cooker and slow cooker. With one pot to clean, these recipes make getting a healthy dinner on the table simple. Definitely worth reading! However, I wish the pressure cooker and slow cooker sections hadn’t been so much of an afterthought.

Healthy One Pan Dinners: 100 Easy Recipes for Your Sheet Pan, Skillet, Multicooker and More by Dana Angelo White is a great cookbook for those of us who enjoy cooking delicious meals and spending minimal time cleaning up afterwards.
The recipes are easy to make, and nutrition information is included with every recipe.
A friend once said, "A cookbook is a picture book for adults." Beautiful pictures accompany some of the recipes.
Thanks to DK, Alpha Books and #NetGalley for a temporary digital ARC of Healthy One Pan Dinners: 100 Easy Recipes for Your Sheet Pan, Skillet, Multicooker and More by Dana Angelo White. The thoughts expressed here are my own.

All kinds of one pan dinners, ranging from vegetarian to meat lovers and all kinds of pans, sheet pan, instant pot, etc. Nutrition is provided for each recipe. Enjoyed the roasted chicken thighs with butternut squash. Wish there was a photo for each recipe.

I am a recipe addict. I'm forever flipping through cookbooks and magazines for new recipes and more nights than not am making something new and different for dinner. Or baking some yummy goodness. This is my first cookbook that I've been asked to review. I was given a temporary digital copy and I loved it so much that I've already put in my pre-order for the actual book when it comes out in June.

I loved how clean and crisp the format of the book is. It's not overly chaotic and makes it very easy to see what you need. A beautiful appetizing picture of the completed dish. A list of ingredients that are simple and easy to find. Short and concise directions: with sheet pan/dutch oven/slower cooker recipes they don't get much easier. A little tip or variation to keep it interesting. And the nutrition facts big and bold with nothing to hide. Because when you love cooking like I do, you need to keep it real sometimes.

When I go through a cook book I stick flags on all the pages I want to try (or pull the pages out of magazines) and sometimes it's just a bust that nothing sounds appetizing. But this one had me bookmarking so many pages that was my clue that I just needed to buy it.. I'll never get a chance to try all the recipes I want before my copy expires. I would highly recommend this cookbook and I'm going to be checking out others by this author.

Thank you #NetGalley and #DK for the opportunity to review this amazing cookbook.

I enjoyed the style of this cookbook. It breaks down 10 perfect one pan cooking vessels, a list of kitchen staples to keep on hand, and 10 must have ingredients. There's a section that gives details about each cooking vessel including what sizes to get, the ways to use each of them, how to clean them, how it will benefit your kitchen. Then the cookbook is broken into sections of recipes for each of the cooking vessels. It also labels all the recipes as gluten free, dairy free, vegan, under 30, and freezer friendly.

Unfortunately this is where the book makes me angry. I knew going in this wasn't a vegan cookbook. Out of the 100 recipes, I believe around 30 are labeled as vegan. In actuality, only 6 are and that's if you allow recipes with parmesan topping (which vegans don't, but easy enough to omit). The vast majority of these 'vegan' recipes call for eggs. Feta cheese. Ricotta cheese. Mozzarella cheese. Butter. Cheddar cheese. Buttermilk. Greek yogurt. Provolone cheese. It was ABSURD. If this V title was changed to 'vegetarian' I would have no issue. But the mislabeling really irked me. Most people won't have issue with this though. Personally to me, cheese loaded recipes aren't healthy, but with the keto craze, I'm sure plenty might seek this out.

This cookbook has 100 recipes and about 33 pictures. One picture for every 3 recipes isn't too bad. I do prefer at least 50% because I'm a cookbook snob. Some of the pictures are just okay, and some are really aesthetically pleasing. Overall, a decent cookbook. No crazy ingredients needed. Most things look pretty good. My favorites were the sheet pan pancakes, egg sandwiches, and pizza do look like fun and easy meals to make for my family. I love sheet pan cooking, makes it very simple.

Thanks netgalley for the ARC. All these opinions are my own.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I hate nothing more than prepping food for the week and using a million dishes to do so. Finding a book like this with easy to use recipes and easy to find ingredients is a blessing for sure. I will be purchasing this one.

A great way to survive dinner time rush when you are trying to keep your family happy and the clean up to a minimum. The recipes are easy to follow and use everyday pantry ingredients. There are recipes that fit any diet restrictions along with many that are kid friendly too. We've tried 50% of the recipes so far and I've received no complaints. That alone speaks volumes from my picky eaters.

Originally published on my blog: Nonstop Reader.

Healthy One Pan Dinners: 100 Easy Recipes is a well curated recipe collection and cooking guide to one pan/pot/sheet dinners by Dana Angelo White. Due out 9th June 2020 Penguin/RH on their DK imprint, it's 160 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats As almost always with DK's offerings, I was blown away by the detailed, clear, and solidly expert photography. Every photo is well rendered and easy to follow. The supportive text is also clear and spare.

The book follows a logical layout. The instructions presuppose no previous experience on the reader's part. The book begins with an introduction covering tools and supplies including different coooking vessels (most will already be on hand), pantry ingredients and staplest o keep on hand (ditto - they'll be available in a well stocked kitchen).

The recipes are arranged around the method of cooking and vessel used (sheet pan, etc). Each recipe includes serving yields, special notes (gluten free, freezer friendly, vegan, quick to prepare) and tips, and prep times. Recipe ingredients are listed bullet point style along with optional ingredients. All measurements are given in American standard measures only (there is no measurement conversion table included in the book, but it's a hassle not to have them included). The directions are given step by step, numbered sequentially. The nutritional information is given in a footer under the recipes and includes calories, fat, protein, sodium, and fiber.

The recipes' ingredients are easily sourced and the resultant dishes are family friendly and appealing to kids and adults. For cooks who are living alone or couples, very many of the included recipes are freezer friendly and could be adapted to fewer than the stated number of servings (generally 4). There are a number of these which will become weeknight staples for my family.

Four stars. Timesaving, nutritious, and tasty.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

What an awesome cookbook. As a young adult who is constantly looking for ways to make myself healthier and quick snacking, this book can help do the trick. I loved so many things about this book. Ms. White organizes the book not by meal type (i.e. breakfast, entree, soups, salads, etc.) like most books, but rather by the method of cooking (sheet pan, cast iron, pressure cooker, etc.). Let me tell you -- that was a GAME CHANGER. The luxury of knowing what method of cooking I was going to use actually saved me time preparing and trying the recipes.

In Ms. White's 100+ recipes, she lists whether they are gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free, or can be made in less than 30 minutes. But it doesn't stop there. Each recipe has a nutrition label for each serving size of the meal. It's a perfect way to make something delicious and see how it will impact your body.

Of course I had to try some of these recipes before writing a review. So far I've made the ginger shrimp with carrots and snap peas and the buffalo cauliflower casserole. All I have to say is they are DELICIOUS. I will definitely be making both of these recipes again. They were a breeze to make and the easy-to-follow instructions made them even easier.

My only wish is that this book had a little more pictures. There's approximately one picture every other page. I just love looking at the delicious food, which makes me more eager to make the recipe (and like I could actually accomplish it). Although because of the abundance of delicious recipes, this book would be three times the size if that were the case.

Don't waste your time!! You already know how to make pizzas & cheeseburgers. Putting your baked beans and then the corn on the cob on the sheet as your ribs doesn't make it a one pan dinner. And simply adding kale doesn't automatically make it healthy and it certainly doesn't mean it makes it appealing.

I didn't see an exceptionally new ideas for increasing vegetable intake in these recipes. Nothing too inspired for fabulous new recipes (maybe someone would like a salmon Dutch baby) to add to your skill set. In fact a lot oldies but goodies that you probably already can do well.

The book had excellent information about different types of cooking vessels at the beginning making me think it was for beginners. However, BE AWARE that I felt the prep & cook times were WAY off. Especially, for beginners. So don't depend on those when looking for a meal to fit into your time allotment.

I thought there poor instructions. For example, cutting a chicken breast into 8 pieces. I have purchased some mighty large chicken breasts that 8 pieces is NO WHERE near popcorn sized. Probably should have put a size versus number for cooking time recommended. One recipe called for a head of cabbage but didn't instruct in the ingredients to have it chopped, shredded, julienned??? And no where in the cooking instruction did it tell either. I can't imagine how most beginner cooks would incorporate that cabbage.

I thought the book was well laid out & some what attractive but it doesn't overcome the rest. Keep looking.

I received an electronic ARC.

This book was quite enjoyable to read. As a fulltime housewife extraordinaire, I like finding new recipes to try. Here's the lowdown on this lovely cookbook:

💖 Positives:

- Beautiful pictures and a nice choice of fonts. I'm a graphic artist, so font choice tends to stick out to me. 😅

- One pan cooking is very appealing since it's easy with few normal ingredients

- I liked that it was written by a dietitian. Finally, someone that actually has training in the health field. So many "health food" authors don't have any training (here's looking at you Vani Hari). So this book feels more trustworthy.

- It offers meals that are gluten free, dairy free, vegan,  under 30 minutes and/or freezer friendly

- Nutrition information at the bottom of every recipe is a nice touch.

- The sheet pan pancakes are brilliant. Why haven't I thought of that?

⚡Negatives:

- I really wish that she would have included air fryer reciped in this book. It's a healthier and quicker way to cook food.

- While all of the recipes are healthy, not all of them look tasty. Case in point, buffalo cauliflower "wings".

- Wish that the book included more pictures of the recipes.

All in all, it's a nice cookbook. While not everything would pass the test of my beyond picky husband, I think a majority of it would.

This cookbook is easy to read and thorough. The table of contents breaks down the recipes based on the method of cooking--in other words, the type of pan you will use to create the dish. Each type of pan/method of cooking is discussed as to the different benefits, types of foods best prepared that way, and preferred brands, among other things. A list of essential, commonly used ingredients is also provided at the beginning of the book.

The recipes are easy to follow. They are relatively short and the language is understandable, so anyone can cook using this book. You don't have to be a professional chef to understand the instructions. Prep and cook times are provided, along with nutrition facts for each serving. There are many pictures throughout the book, showing off the delicious food you will be creating.

I look forward to trying many of the recipes in this book! The recipes are simple, healthy, and delicious! Thank you to #NetGalley for providing me a free copy of this cookbook in exchange for my honest review.

This cookbook has both simple and complex recipes. You go from meatball heroes and cheeseburger sliders to shakshuka with kale and Potato leek frittata. As a person who is just starting to feel comfortable with cooking, the author has a variety of different recipes to satisfy just about anyone. The directions are simple and easy to follow and the pictures are STUNNING. Whoever did the graphic design on this book needs to do more books. I also enjoy the suggested toppings or recommended section in certain recipes. Many cookbooks I skim thorough will only have the generic "veggies" or "top with whatever you want." I am always wondering what would go well with certain dishes so this addition was very exciting! Personally, I am very excited to try the Kitchen Sink Fried Rice and Sheet Pan Pizza Night.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me a PDF ARC of Healthy One Pan Dinners. All opinions are my own.

I love how this book is set up! This cook book has a lot going for it. It has all the nutritional information at the bottom of the recipe, no more typing the ingredients into a nutrition calculator. It has symbols for dairy free, gluten free, vegan, under 30 minutes and freezer friendly. No more guessing if something will freeze okay. It also has a slow cooker and instant pot section to add some more low stress meal options. The other thing I loved about this book is that most recipes are under 6 steps! My only complaint is I wish there was a picture with every recipe (this is always my complaint). I am really excited to continue to try recipes from this cookbook!

This book is perfect for busy families while also being healthy. The variety and choices are unlike any I’ve seen in other cookbooks, and I love reading cookbooks! There are plenty of photos of each dish which is a godsend especially when making a new dish. Personally look forward to trying the Taco Salad. Never made it with zucchini, carrots, or radishes. Will be trying my hand at something new: making no-cook chicken tabbouleh. My only criticism is that it is difficult to find a recipe unless you know the exact name, e.g. tabbouleh. Took me awhile to find it.

I'm always looking for ways to save time in the kitchen, and one pan meals are my jam. I've bookmarked a whole bunch of recipes to try but the ones I've already made have been pretty tasty. Healthy nachos, chicken fajitas, shaksuka (no kale for us though). Next up I think is the pesto turkey meatballs with orzo. I especially like that almost all of the recipes contain food I'm likely to already have on hand and not ingredients that I would buy to only use one tablespoon of. I'll be adding recipes from this book to my index card box in the kitchen - pretty much the highest compliment I can pay to a cookbook.

Healthy One Pan Dinners by Dana Angelo White is a book that has it all! This book has easy to follow recipes that you can make in a sheet pan, skillet, dutch oven, baking dish, multi-cooker, and slow cooker. Each recipe is laid out in step by step fashion and tells servings, prep time, cook time and the nutritional facts. This book would be great for anyone who is pressed for time and looking for easy, healthy Dinners that don't make a huge mess. I love that the recipes were not only healthy but delicious as well! I recommend this book.

This is such a neat cookbook! Don't get lost on the name and cover as it is so much more than sheet pan recipes. It also includes baking pan, slow cooker, dutch oven, and skillet recipes. For the most part, the recipes are simple and appealing to the masses. There are a few in each section that seem too exotic for this type of cookbook but that's just my opinion. The layout and colors of the cookbook are really inviting. Great style and probably a cookbook I will buy a hardcopy of for my kitchen.

Definitely NOT Low Calorie

I have a lot of cookbooks. I have a lot of diet cookbooks and low-calorie cookbooks. Since I couldn’t see any of the recipes in total in the preview I purchased this book without actually knowing. Most of the recipes are over 400 cal per serving some over 500 and to me that’s not healthy cooking to spend almost half your days calories on one meal. I only found a few recipes I like but they’re too high calorie for me and too much trouble to tweak to be able to use. Can’t recommend this book for anyone trying to lose weight

Very simple recipe book with a few tasty recipes. I liked that the author stuck to very specific ingredients throughout and used a variety of common pots and baking dishes.
The only thing I felt was missing was more pictures of the finished product to use as reference. Some recipes had ingredients I wasn't familiar with so it would have been nice to use the pictures as a guide.

This cookbook is lovely to behold, but there isn't anything really new in it. How many more recipes do we need for sheet pan fajitas, pulled pork, or eggroll in a bowl.? The saving grace is that it isn't ALL slow cooker or sheet pan, but a compendium of all the things the home cook would probably have, and I appreciate that aspect of it.

I would recommend this book to any family that is busy and has a lot of people to feed! The pictures were nice and I loved the overall layout of each recipe. Each one gave nutrition counts which I especially look for in all cook books. We really enjoyed the sheet pan pizza night, and plan on making that one again next month. Great recipes and food the whole family can enjoy!
