Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth's wedding night interrupted...
The newly married Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy arrive at Pemberley ready to enjoy the benefits of marriage... especially the one benefit they'd yet to savor.
Their hopes are deflated, among other things, when his aunt Lady Catherine de Bourgh makes an unexpected and unwanted visit.
Darcy Interrupted is a 13,000 word steamy, sensual and intimate Pride and Prejudice retelling short story.
A sweet and romantic, steamy variation of Pride and Prejudice.
I doubt Elizabeth would accuse Mr Darcy of not being a gentleman after these events. I thought Darcy's actions were very romantic and considerate, despite the interruptions on their wedding night. Which by the way, were rather hilarious in the end...
Rating MA: mature-reader [->17]: As advertised, this is a Pride and Prejudice Steamy Variation: 90 pages: Quick read: Angst Level: zero, other than sexual frustration by ODC: That rating is not kidding, so don’t ignore it. This is hardcore.
I first read a review and recommendation by Rita on her blog ‘From Pemberley to Milton’ on 3-20-21. I had previously indicated that I wouldn’t read this. However, her review was so cute, I couldn’t resist. Then I began to see other reviews by my Goodreads friends and decided to try it. Well… it isn’t for everyone that is for sure. Our story has several hilarious scenes sandwiched between sensual scenes that were quite graphic. The last scene was the best. Poor Lady Catherine. I think the author missed an opportunity to state that Lady Catherine would never storm the shades of Pemberley again uninvited. It was cute at the end.
Darcy and Elizabeth have agreed to wait to consummate their marriage until they are at Pemberley. They arrive and are finally in the moment when an unexpected and unwanted visitor not only causes further delays but also after two interruptions happens upon them (unbeknownst to ODC) just after they have finally reached their climax. There are many scenes as to foreplay and I was not fond of the word "rump" being used.
This short story was a KU offering so I can't complain.
A received a free audible. The audible lasted 1 hour and 17 minutes. A short novella . Darcy and Elizabeth have married and decided to wait to celebrate their wedding night to when they arrive at Pemberley. They arrive to Pemberley and are looking forward to night. They start to relax and enjoy the evening and are interrupted my Lady Catherine surprise arrival. Will Lady Catherine continue to interrupt their time together or can they sneak off and enjoy themselves.
Fitzwilliam and Elizabeth Darcy have been teasing and kissing their whole way to Pemberley and are more than ready for their "wedding night". However, they have an unexpected guest who seems to interfere over and over again and eventually catches them in the act, much to her dismay.
Mature audiences only. I liked this short sensual variation. Lady Catherine was a nuisance but her ending was perfect, it had me laughing my head off. Darcy had thrown her out before, she should have taken the hint. Another steaming retelling story of the most beloved Pride and Prejudice characters. You feel the excitement, the passion, and the joy the characters are feeling. I couldn’t get enough. Highly recommend!
This was hilarious, I love the humor mixed with the situation, the confusion in Elizabeth was honestly charming and our Poor Darcy made me laugh so much, I enjoyed this one infinitely more than the first book on the series as this showed proper care for the etiquette of the time and it was lovely rather than predatory, as I felt the other one.
This was a sensual book in which the first time is finally done. The hilarious reason why is none other than one person. You will laugh for why, but feel the love between the two. Cute, sweet, and well written.
Lady Catherine was a nuisance but her ending was perfect. I know Darcy said otherwise in the carriage, but Elizabeth came across as a cold fish with the way she held on to that blanket.
Darcy and Lizzy wait until they reach Pemberley before consummating their marriage. Lady Catherine literally interrupts twice before they can do it. They end up doing it in the library and Lady C walks in on them without their knowledge.
“Elizabeth licked her lips at the desire. She saw in his eyes. They had teased each other mercilessly on this trip.”
Throughs/Reviews: Another Pride and Prejudice retelling I LOVED. It takes place after Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy wed. This is a steamy variation. I doubt Elizabeth would accuse Mr. Darcy of not being a gentleman after these events. I thought Darcy’s actions were very romantic and considerate, despite the interruptions on their wedding night. This story has several hilarious scenes sandwich between sensual scenes that were quite detail. The last was the best…Poor Lady Catherine! Darcy and Elizabeth waited to consummate their marriage until they were at Pemberly.
A very funny, super romantic short tale of the most beloved couple finally joining as husband and wife. This intimate look at the newly wedded Darcy's was well written, and while not appropriate for everyone, was not so graphic to be disgusting.
A fun sexy romp. Lady Catherine was on a mission, but she was the one interrupted in the end. The intimate encounter are not garish but demonstrate the coming together of a newly married couple.
Utterly charming, witty and romantic with a twist that had me laughing out loud! A new favorite, if I do say so myself, and a perfect short read.
One note - while I have unfortunately not had the pleasure to read the initial novel of Pride and Prejudice, nor have a watched the generational triumph of a film that shaped the backbone of every regency romance girlie, my experience with the story stems from three live productions: one at Long Wharf Playhouse, one titled Austen's Pride performed for one night only at Carnegie Hall, and my all-time favorite, the Pride and Prejudice musical filmed production from 2020. I won't pretend that I'm overly familiar with the content of the story, and truthfully if the novella had gone into too much more detail, I might have been lost but I was able to follow perfectly with the knowledge that I had from my limited exposure to the classic.
It's Darcy and Lizzy's wedding night, a night they've been anticipating for too long. They arrive at Pemberley eager to become man and wife in more than name, but Lady Catherine arrives in time to put a damper on things.
This Pride and Prejudice continuation was both sweet and steamy, really fun! I loved this depiction of poor Darcy, frustrated by Lady Catherine's interruptions and poor Lizzy's fears. It was steamy but not over the top.
The narration was well done, a performance that pulled me right into the story. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
