The entire cast of characters from Bram Stoker’s famous tale is back, but with a greedy twist of human nature.
Johnathan Harker is madly in love with Mina Murray and will do anything to have her hand in marriage, even at the expense of his soul.
The Baron Murray is obsessed with the blood of Dracula and will stop at nothing to increase his wealth. Even at the expense of his daughter Mina’s life.
When these two fates entwine, a maddening race to salvation is at hand.
Jack Wallen is what happens when a Gen Xer mind-melds with present day snark. Jack is a seeker of truth and a writer of words with a quantum mechanical pencil and a disjointed beat of sound and soul. Although he resides in the unlikely city of Louisville, Kentucky, Jack likes to think of himself more as an interplanetary traveler, on the lookout for the Satellite of Love and a perpetual movie sign...or so he tells the reflection in the mirror (some times in 3rd person). Jack is the author of numerous tales of dark, twisty fiction including the I Zombie series, the Klockwerk Movement, the Fringe Killer series, Shero, The Nameless Saga, and much more.
This a character driven , thrilling, fun romp retelling of Dracula lore. Jack Wallen takes you on a wild ride of his idea of Dracula and it is flawless. I highly recommend this book and any of his other many books, you will not be disappointed.
I flew through this in 3 days - it helped that I knew the characters well so a lot of pages weren't just devoted to introducing the characters and developing them. The final confrontation with "The Baron" could have been fleshed out a little IMO but all in all a good read and will definitely read The Frankenstein Theory in the coming weeks.
An expert retelling of the classic Dracula. Part of the series of retellings from the monster theory series including Frankenstein and the to be released Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde
If I had to describe this book in one word it would be ... Masterful. I've read Jack Wallen's zombie series and enjoyed it, but this book was amazing. Reading it, I kept thinking "This was written by someone recently?" You wouldn't know that if you just randomly picked it up and didn't look at the copyright date. The language was spot on for the time period, and transported you back in time. The plot was rich, and the characters were captivating. Reading this felt like reading one of the classics and I enjoyed every bit of it.
The common depiction of Count Dracula is that of a bloodthirsty villain matched in spirit with his real-world inspiration. I’ve never viewed him in that light. Rather, I’ve always thought of him as a misunderstood and tortured soul—betrayed by God himself—worthy or admiration. “Dracula Theory” expands on this alternative perspective. Jack’s tale is well paced, fun, thrilling, and even heartwarming.
Here’s a fun romp through the mists of time to show a different take on the legend of Dracula. Take a chance and check this author out, I highly recommend him!
