Jennifer loves reading and writing clean romance. She believes that happily ever after is not just for stories. Jennifer enjoys interior design, rollerblading, clogging, jogging, and chocolate. In Jennifer’s opinion there are few ills that can’t be solved with a warm brownie and scoop of vanilla-bean ice cream. Jennifer grew up in rural Alabama and loved living in a town where “everybody knows everybody.” Her love for writing began as a young teenager when she wrote stories for her high school English teacher to critique. Jennifer has a BA in English and Social Sciences from Brigham Young University Hawaii where she served as Miss BYU Hawaii. Before becoming an author, she worked as the owner and editor of a monthly newspaper named The Senior Times. She now lives in the Rocky Mountains with her family and spends her time writing and doing all of the wonderful things that make up the life of a busy wife and mother.
Wow! Did Jennifer Youngblood ever start this fantastic story off with a bang! Hardly had she introduced a few key characters when Remi, a cruise ship nurse, is faced with hundreds of people becoming sick on her ship with the ship doctor among the casualties. Even the ship's captain is incapacitated. The CDC immediately tapped our hero, Dr. Jesse Dawson, to head up a team to go out to the vessel to diagnose and treat the outbreak. To keep spoilers to a minimum, let me say that Remi and Jesse had been an item in the past, and their reunion was the first time they had seen each other in several years. The chemistry was still there.
SPOILER ALERT: I may be a softie, but I fought tears of sympathy for Michiko. She and Jesse were engaged, but she broke the engagement and returned to her native Japan. Jesse mourned her departure, though not as much as he had regretted the earlier departure of his first love, Remi. After his reunification with Remi, Michiko returns while Remi is away on a cruise. Michiko brings flowers and, after traveling over 7,000 miles with every expectation of a reunification, she pleads with Jesse to forgive her mistake and accept her back. Michiko came to realize her mistake and now knows that Jesse is the love of her life. But Jesse has moved on, and she begins to understand how much she has lost. Oh, how I wished that Michiko was a woman deserving of being rejected. Instead, she is a person who made a mistake that cost her the love of her life. For me, that was a tear-jerking moment, and I grieved for her as she dejectedly walked away.
Without disclosing any further spoilers, let me say that Jennifer crafted a story filled with emotional twists and turns, and which finishes with a truly magnificent HEA ending.
I’m not one for medical dramas as they tend to get too gross for my weak stomach. This wasn’t like that at all. During the epidemic part of the story there was nothing that made me have to put the book down for a breather. It just drew me into the story and I could put it down until I knew they found a cure. Then that part of the story led to an even more interesting turns of events in Jesse’s career. No spoilers!
I loved Jesse’s character! Oh my goodness! I was rooting for them to get back together. Jesse and Remi were such a good team. Remi had a lot from her past to deal with about how she broke Jesse’s heart and then suffered without him. It took a while for them to work thru things but it was a great story.
On a side note: The brief mention about the flesh-eating Honduran jungle houseflies had me laughing out loud! I could totally picture the scene. I lived in Honduras for a few years and I remember being in a frenzy whenever we saw the “bad fly” (as we called it) in the house and having to kill it immediately or get it out of the house quick before it could plant it’s eggs! Aww such happy memories!
I found the epidemic on the cruise ship fascinating! Not that I would want to be part of it, but I loved the inside look at how they would find a cure. The relationship was cute, but a little volatile for my tastes. I’m not prone to yelling at others.
Content: clean (some kissing, no language, mild violence)
Another enjoyable story involving a doctor. Well written, engaging, and interesting. Jesse and Remi were in love a few years before, but she had some wanderlust and didn't want to tie him down. Two years later, she's a cruise ship nurse and he's a doctor completing a fellowship in infectious disease when the ship she's working on has an outbreak of illness. The medical stuff rang true to this non-stop medical person and the romance and challenges drew me in.
I enjoyed reading this book, but it might not the best story to read 2 weeks before I'm getting on a cruise ship, myself. Yes, I am! ;-p
When an epidemic starts on her cruise ship, Remi is surprised that the doctor is her former boyfriend Jesse. When the epidemic ends, Remi agrees to go to dinner with Jesse. They both have strong feelings for each other, regrets about their breakup and concerns about a future. Complicating matters, there is a threat to Jesse's career. I received a free copy of this eBook from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I like this light, sweet, and clean second chance romance. I liked how persistent Jesse was in pursuing a relationship with Remi. Their romance was believable. I enjoyed reading this book.
This was another great book on love and perseverance . The story of Remy and Jesse and their love for each other was nothing short of spectacular as they fought their way back to each other. An out break on board the ship and the Dr sent to help out was a renewal of two people who had lost two years of loving each other only being apart. Then along came another Doctor who came to relieve the first crew of Doctors and then one tried to kill Jesse only to have a crew of people see it all. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
Such a great book. You have a couple young and in love. However, one goes to live and the other tries to move on and becomes a doc. Years later there is a pandemic on the ship that she is a nurse on. He figures what the pandemic is and how to cure it while another doc tries to steal it out from under him. They get back together, except his ex fiancee comes and upsets the couple a little. She comes and defends hi in court, then the rest is history. With a purposefully placed accident he heals and asks her to marry him. Good stuff.
A not too believable story with such an obvious solution to the medical ethics drama. The main characters were likeable but their answer to relationship problems were more suited to high schoolers than professionals. The Clementine setting seems to be the best setting for the cozy series.
Can true love stand against epidemics, exes, false accusations, miscommunications, long distances, and more? How much are you willing to give for the love of your life? Find out in this incredible story filled with highs and lows, heroes and villains. I highly recommend this book! Happy Reading!
This one didn’t take place in Clementine, but Jesse’s sister lives there! Jesse loved Remi, but she wanted to see the world. Now, two years later when an epidemic happens on the cruise ship where she’s a nurse, Jesse comes to save the day! I’m over someone kissing the good guy and getting him in trouble! I loved the ending, even if Oscar was crazy!
I normally like this author, but this book... gag! Overly dramatic characters, trite outdated phrases, high school level maturity and emotions. I almost quit a couple times, but kept going hoping it would get better. It didn't. The story had potential, but it ended up being super cringey.
This is entertaining story, but no one is that sweet an kindly as the good doctor. As in all these genre of books they end rather abruptly. No explanation no stretching it out a bit ,so things feel more conclusive.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was exciting , with romance, lost love, calamity, suspense, everything you could want in a story. Love this authors books.
It is clean and Frank . It's fun, witty and with lots of spunk. It has characters who demonstrate courage and integrity. It also has suspense and intrigues that make you keep turning the page.
With amazing medical moments and romance mix to give you an intriguing and heartwarming romance that will definitely have you rooting for their happily ever after.
Jessie and Remi are a couple ment to be. However Remi has other plans she wants to fulfill.Unfortunately they don't include Jessie. Like life, things happen and you must read the book to see how it progresses. It is not a waste of your time.
