Thank you to Jenetta Penner for the review copy in exchange for an honest review. This does not change my opinion in anyway.
After last episode’s big stake claims I was expecting there to be more still ongoing things between the three groups. Let us be real, there is a lot to talk about but apparently nothing is happening on that front. Are these adults really that much of idiots?
This installment starts a week after the last and Josy has been getting targeted by anti-truce people. Through her book they figure out that there are 3 instruments with which they can close in the darkness. While this was foreshadowed in the other books I still felt like it wasn’t quite fitting for this point in the story. There is so much misinformation going around about the morelli and the darkness and I wish there was more focus on getting that dispelled at times. Instead Josi keeps getting all the endless information and it is not going anywhere.
Josi herself is not what makes me keep reading. Instead I have gotten quite fond of Nine, Aspen and even Rosalie. I think there is so much to explore with those characters and only getting Josi’s point of view feels limited sometimes. I loved that Rosalie got the chance to stand up to her parents. And the relationship problems that Josi and Aspen face are very real as they are from different groups. It wouldn’t be realistic if they didn’t have some friction about it. My only complaint is that I wish there had been more build up in previous books about it instead of it now just unfolding.
I do hope that the next installment is going to get us somewhere with more information about the Morelli and the Darkness and perhaps a stronger truce.

Summary: The danger continues to escalate leaving Josy and her friends with only themselves to depend on. The conflict between the opposing groups leaves little hope of coming together to fight the coming darkness. Their one hope may lay in uncovering what lies within Morelli spellbook. Josy and her friends are about to face challenges and dangers that will pit the strength of their friendship against what lies ahead.
Despair and evil is spreading. The fights between Morelli, shifters, and witches and wizards seem to cease only temporarily, but never completely, even leading to a murder of one of the leaders. Rosalee's parents are finally showing their true faces, and so are others. Thankfully the ancient book of spells reveals more information as the time is due, and the existence of the amulet (+its meaning) might prove to be a game changer. Seeing the treatment Rosalee's parents are giving her, it's no wonder she came out being a bitch. But it also seems Josy, Aspen, Emiko, Holly, Merrygold, and even Nine seem to have good influence on her. Her help proves invaluable, and her character morphs into something different. However, the bond between Josy and Aspen is suffering and is constantly challenged, with questionable outcome - if it endures the crisis, only time will tell.. but there is not much time left.
Yes they have gotten the shifters and the other two races into the Academy but the truce is a fragile thing. But then she hears about a magical artifact, an Amulet that can answer questions. Suddenly she and the others are transported to its location. That's when they find out that there are three artifacts of power. Her ring, the item Aspen found in the Junk inventory and the Amulet. But who is the rightful holder? A spy on campus, a falling out with family and friends and a murder. Can they sort things out and restore peace? Yes the story is moving but at the rate of molasses. It gets to an exciting part and fizzles out. Disappointed.
Lots of tension in this episode between the three races as the darkness tries to incite a riot. The same feelings try to take hold of Josy and Aspen’s relationship. Josy’s cat, Nine, is so entertaining providing some comic relief which always brings a smile to my face. The long lost Artifact has been found and Josy leads the way try and figure out how it works. I’m looking forward to reading about what happens in the next episode. I can hardly stand the wait. This is a great series and highly recommended.
The situation continues to escalate between the different races in the magical realm - with Josy caught in the eye of the storm, as usual. The book is fast paced and got over too soon. I wish it was longer, but I understand that these are episodes. This is my impatience to see how the story progresses. A good read!
Note: I received an ARC copy of this book. However, the ratings and review are my own.
I received an ARC at no cost for my honest opinion.
I really enjoyed continuing on in this journey at the new information we learn, but I have to confess Aspen irritated me quite a bit in this episode. On the flip side I was proud of Rosalee standing up for herself even though she was terrified to do so.
I still love Nine the best, he is some good comic relief but important to the story as well. I can hardly wait for the next episode!
I have been part of Josy story since the beginning. After each new adventure leaves my feelings all over the place. This story shows us a more detail of the war they are facing and who the big players are turning out to be. A relationship seems to have strength while another seems to be pulling apart at the seams. I'm worried for Josy and her friends and hope good will prevail. Excitingly awaiting the next story.
The races go at each other again. So Josy has to figure out how to separate everyone before all is lost. I'm starting to like uncle Zayne even more now. He stands up and helps her several times when others were in the grip of Darkness. I'm not sure if it's because the Morelli are immune to it or maybe just Zayne. I was very disappointed in Aspen at the end of the book. He was a bad book boyfriend for making her chose.
This is the sixth book in the series and it picks up right where the last book left off. With the four points missing, Josy now has the shifters, Morelli and Magic Society forced together on the side of magic united together before darkness consumes them all. Poor Josy is being pulled in every direction while trying to keep the peace. I can not wait to listen to the next book, the narrator does such a great job with this series
Tensions are high, tempers are short, as three magical groups are forced to live in the same area. The war is coming, but if the groups can't get along, there might not be anyone left to fight for the side of magic. Josy and her friends are doing their best, but they are still young. A great next installment in Spellcaster Academy!
This book is fantastic, it is great how a chapter is released monthly. Once finished though, you have to wait for the next installment.... that is the hardest part!!!
I love this series, I love the plot, the characters and the narration. Next one please!!!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I have provided this voluntary review
**I reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book**
As tensions rise, the side of Magic is falling into chaos. Josy and her friends are in for the fight of a lifetime, and only peace between the races can fight the darkness!
A great series, although slow going with monthly releases.
This series just keeps on getting better and better. There is so much tension and mistrust in this episode. The plot thickens, and there are lots of surprises too. Nine has to be my new hero - he's hilarious! Can't wait for more.
This episode has poor Josy being pulled into every direction- in the end she is just trying to keep the peace. Lots of tense filled moments in this episode. It was definitely a hard one to put down. Looking forward to the next episode
I highly recommend this thrilling book in this imaginative and intriguing series. It could be ended on a higher note for my taste, but I know it is an intro to the next book.
This is a great series for the young and old alike. I don't usually read short stories like this but this is a exception, I am glad I accidentally got it. Great story telling by the author makes the pages fly by. Great characters help move it right along. Great Reading everyone!
Will Josy be able to figure out how to stop the Darkness? If so, at what cost? Another cliff hanger! I received a free copy of this book, with no obligation.
This story just keeps getting more and more tense. So much is going on and the end is dark and has very little hope. But i hope the next book offers a glimmer
I really want to know that this double vision is that Josie is seeing!! Will her and aspen be okay only one way to find out and in book 7 I hope I will!!
After the way the last episode ended, I was prepared for this one to start off with a bang. But instead, a week had passed without anything noteworthy happening. Which was rather disappointing.
As the story progressed though, it turned out there was still a lot of story left to tell before we see our big boss battle. There were new histories put into place. As well as plenty of new drama. I’m really looking forward to all these pieces of story coming together at the end.
