The first 3 books of the fantasy saga The Lost Prophecy series.
The arrival of the mysterious Magi, along with their near invincible guardians, signals a change. For Jakob, apprentice historian, and son of a priest, it begins an opportunity.
When his home is attacked, Jakob starts a journey that will take him far from home and everything he has ever known. Studying with a new swordmaster, he gains surprising skill, but also strange new abilities that make him fear the madness which has claimed so many has come to him. He must withstand it long enough to finish the dangerous task given to him, one that with his new abilities he may be the only person able to complete.
With a strange darkness rising in the north, and attackers moving in from the south, powers long thought lost begin to return. Some begin to suspect the key to survival is the answer to a lost prophecy, yet only a few remain with the ability to find it.
I enjoyed the read 2/3 in towards what I thought was a complete boxed set. I was wrong and felt let down by how final plot came to an cliff hanger sequel bait. It left me with a feeling of let's milk you for more of your time and money. The main characters came across incapacitated and weak. It made sense at first for good character development and story pacing. After about half way through and they still make the same dumb mistakes....really! The chemistry between the main characters was constantly wishy washy. That got old quick and just seemed like fluff more than anything else. The story was massive and expand around several plot builds but still managed to fall flat. Disappointing because the foundation had the making for a nice boxed set complete with no need for sequel to bleed the life out of a other wise good trilogy. It overall was not entirely bad but it could have been better. SMH
I wanted to know what happened to the characters. But so much repetition of inane filler that did nothing to advance the plot, almost caused me to abandon the second book. The story got somewhat better after the second book (which should never have been written. Anything of real interest in it could fit in a few pages of either the first or third book. I made it through by skipping whole pages. I will not subject myself to a fourth. These three volumes could easily be slashed down into one good book.
This book in the series answers many questions I had about what Jakob was experiencing. I’ve enjoyed all of the books so far and can’t wait to read the next. I have to make myself stop and write a review because I just want to start on the next book but I know others benefit by them. This book has a feel like Lord of the Rings to me. Great evil, but great goodness also. Enjoy!
I was disappointed that the author now seems to dither and fill the story with repetitive passages without moving the plot forward, enriching the character development or frustrating the readers desire fore Some new information. I have noticed this rambling on in several of his other books but have continued to read due to loyalty. I hope he takes this note and cleans up the drafts before publication.
I have enjoyed following the characters in this series so far. I am finding myself skipping entire paragraphs however. This author's writing style is much too wordy for my tastes. The story itself is engaging and I will definitely be finishing the series. Taking a break from it for now though. Again, great story and characters.
A wonderful world-building series. This is a fantasy to lose yourself in.
The Plot is excellent, Anxois there are multiple parts of the plot that will have you awaiting to see how everything ties together. The characters and very well-developed, and fascinating. you get to know them. There are many things that help create this new world. I am ready for more.
A good read for sure. Well written and solid storyline that carried consistency though the books in the boxset. The character development was perfect save one leading character which was stalled to the point of challenging suspension of disbelief. That’s said, it was encapsulating and entertaining throughout with no reason not to visualise the story world created by the author.
This book has so many characters, of so many species it is complicated to get one’s head around, but I soon realised that the author allowed my knowledge of the chapters to grow along with their own knowledge of self and I was hooked. I can’t wait to find out what’s next!
The first three book grabbed me early and never let go. I enjoyed the story and the wonderful characters. I admit that I knew nothing about the author. But Sam now hook. Give it a try and you will be too.
Anyone who enjoys a good story without a lot of needless swearing and pointless sex but exciting battle scene and realistic characters, will certainly like these books! Keep writing.
These three books would have been better without the filler to make them three. The writing however was excellent and the story interesting. I will not read more of the series due to the plodding effect of the filler content.
Kept me reading but too much rehashing of what was already explained. Finally just had to skim parts to get to the meat of the book. This could have been so much better.
In the genre of Tolkien, this Arthur has weaved the strands of time to pull you I in to this world. A world of Magi, if demins, if greed and of Hope. Follow along and be on the side of good
The first 3 books in this series have laid the ground work for what promises to get a really good series. Good characters and a very interesting storyline. Definitely recommend
DK Holmberg Excelles again. Books 1-3 . Absolutly spellbinding. Brilliant in every way. I must, even though I am broke, continue The Lost Prophecy. Try not to miss these books. fulfilling reading.
How do I describe my enjoyment of this series so far ? I do not have the words to do so. Loose yourselves in this world and find out for yourself ,why I want more.
Excellent story telling, loved the ending, although knowing that the story still continues. Only complaint is that the story was a little too drawn out. Love this author.
