Jack never saw this special delivery coming.

Jack Dawson has been madly in love with Tan Nguyen since high school. So when his oldest crush walks into his flower shop to place an order, Jack…runs into the closet to hide.

Valentine’s Day is the worst day for florists, especially lonely ones who just want a boyfriend at least a quarter as hot as Tan. Add in Jack having to hand-deliver a special romance basket for Tan’s secret date while wearing a bright red suit and he’s tempted to flee to Canada.

But, to his shock, this is going to be a February Fourteenth that Jack will never forget.

This book was a cute, dorky read. I loved it, especially when it's a holiday book. This was set on Valentine's Day. I want to say this book was a slow burn, but the thing is, it heated up real fast. LOVED the main gay characters in the book. I cannot wait to read more of Ellen Mint books.

This novella was super sweet and hella funny. Jack’s inner monologues were absolutely hilarious and had me giggling throughout the entire story.

Jack is an artist who opted to work in a florist shop instead of starving. It’s Valentine’s Day, the worst (or best) day of the year for a florist and Jack is not looking forward to it. In walks Tan, his high school crush and he literally hides from him.

Just when Jack thinks his life couldn’t suck any worse, he has to actually deliver the flower basket to a guy he’s been in love with since high school.

The author packed quite a bit of story into this novella. The characters were hilariously lovable. The storyline was something that’s been done before but the author managed to make it fresh with the humor and sweetness.

I love how Jack and Tan finally find their HEA after all this time. This story ended on such a sweet and high note.

“Special Delivery” is a quick read about two people reconnecting on Valentine’s Day. Since this is a very fast read, I wasn’t able to connect with either Jack or Tan; and felt they weren’t fleshed out. If you’re looking for a fast read maybe give this one a try.

I give this book 2 stars.

I received an ARC from the publisher.

A florist is in for a shock this Valentine when their crush walks in to the shop to order flowers. They also want him to deliver them by themselves while wearing a red suit. What is going on? Will they go there? See what will happen

This quick and sweet little Valentine nugget was heartwarmingly charming and funny. I loved Jack’s inner monolgue right from the beginning while he told his back story and pined away for the allegedly unattainlable Tan.

The humor was great without trying too hard, it flowed from Jack easily and organically. Jack is an every man who has been unlucky in love and as a struggling artist he’s been working at a florist for entirely too long, at the expense of his creativity. All that being said, Valentine’s Day is hardly his favorite holiday and he just wants to survive it at this point.

He’s had a crush on the oh-so-dreamy Tan since high school and when Tan makes an unexpected appearance at the florist where Jack works, Jack is all kinds of a funny mess as he reminisces and gets through Valentines delivery hell.

Jack’s final delivery is the meat of the story and I say that unironically, as meat was had all around. Keeping in mind this is a short story, the heat is turned up to 11 pretty quickly. Believable? Not so much, but that wasn’t what I came for and I just let the believability slide because it was a happy and horny ending for both guys and I was there for it.

This is one of those shorts that left me wanting more, not necessarily because anything was lacking, but just because I could really see this as, at minimum, a novella. There were a lot of untouched plot points and Tan’s POV would be awesome to read. Still, I enjoyed this fun and sweet read for what it was meant to be and will definitely looking for more from this author.

This was a heartwarming and cute Valentine’s story that was also had some heat in it. Jack, an artist, is working at a florist to pay off school loans and sees his high school crush and quickly hides. He hates Valentine’s since everyone seems to have a special person except for him or so it seems. Enter the man of his dreams and someone he knew in high school. He is still blown away by Tan’s good looks but is saddened when Tan orders an arrangement for his true love. Stuck with deliveries Jack just wants to go home and rest. He just has one more to go and it’s to Tan. What happens next is something you really need to read. Loved the story and just right for Valentine’s Day.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Oh man, if there was ever a Grinch that stole Valentine's day, Jack would be the top contender. Will Tan turn his frown to a smile this day?
Lead up to one of the busiest days around, Jack needed steps, one hide when hot guy walks into his florist shop.  Lauri after she so outted his hidding spot. Of course that was if his own fumbling brain/mouth would get with the program. Ms Hellberg could make a drill sergeant quiver!  The last delivery for the day was about to change everything, nosey through the box that Tan ordered, parking in a fifteen minute timed slot was a coin toss on bad decisions.

This is a very short and quick Valentine's Day story, but it was still rather cute. Jack had a crush on Tan back in high school, but hasn't seen him in the years since. When Tan comes into the florist shop Jack works at just before Valentine's Day, Jack hides rather than talking to him. There isn't a lot of depth to the story, and the "romance" depends mostly on them knowing each other years before, but if you're looking for something quick and a little steamy it works.

First things first. This is a story of two men. So if you’re not open to that, go read another book. Or get past your prejudices and give this book - and their love - a try.

I’ve read another of Ellen Mint’s books and damn was that hot. So. Was. This.

Jack is so sweet and Tan is just... Mm. No words come to me. Loved it.

Jack has had a crush on Tan since high school. Tan had moved away but is now back and Jack works in a florist shop. Since it’s day’s away from Valentines Day they are really busy. Tan orders a basket to be delivered on Valentines. Jack is the delivery person and he has to wear a red polyester suit with a vest. He is not happy or comfortable. Tan’s is his last delivery before heading home. This is a very funny Valentine’s Day story that keeps you smiling.

A super quick and sweet story with a bit of humor.

I liked getting the inner thoughts of Jack. I found myself chuckling at times especially when Jack said, “And since I hadn’t figured out how to phase through floors yet, he was still seeing me.” He really was a blubbering mess around Tan. I loved it.

A short and humorous Valentine's day story

Jack has been infatuated with Tan since high school. On one of the busiest days for florists, Jack has to deliver a huge arrangement to Tan. But his crush is straight. Or is he?

The descriptions of neurotic Jack had me laughing.

This was a cute, funny story, Jacks reactions and thoughts had me laughing throughout the book. If anything i would like to know more background on both of them and for the story to be a bit longer. To see the reactions of other characters.

I thought Jack and Tan had a cute short Valentine's story. I liked that Jack had a thing for Tan in high school but thought there was no chance. I loved the Valentine's day flower delivery and how it changed everything.

It was a cute and sweet second chance romance. They knew each other before but missed their chance out of fear it seems. They get a new chance at that and it's done in such a cute way. I really enjoyed reading it. It's not very long but it didnt need to be. It was long enough to be heartwarming with a few laughs.

Adorable Valentine's Day Story...

This was a sweet and much too short of a story, it left me wanting more. A mix of great chemistry , humor and romance that had me wanting to read more. Ellen Mint is a fabulous storyteller and this is one particular delivery I want more of.

This is a great short story about two men finding love. One has been open since his school years about his sexuality & one who thought he had to be what everyone expected him to be.

A shy florist and his former high school crush, their unexpected encounter on Valentine’s Day ten years later, and a rather unanticipated turn of events are at the center of this story. It’s funny, bigger than life, and filled with stereotypes we all know and adore (or maybe not?), but I think it offers some comic relief for those who can’t take Valentine’s Day and its excessive commercialism too seriously. Beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder, but after reading this story, I’d say that the same goes for humor. Honestly, it took me a few pages to get used to Jack’s voice and since he tells the story in first person, his point of view was the only one I had. I can see how reading this tale might rub some people the wrong way, but personally, once I got used to Jack’s “version of reality”, I found his klutziness and his almost over-the-top angst rather endearing.

The reviews below are not for this book. This is the sweetest most fun children’s book of a little sending an elephant to her aunt. Cute and fun, I love that all the adult characters are elderly.

There was so much potential in this story. I loved the humor and the pining. Honestly the one delivery to the little old lady in the rain took my rating from 3.5 to 4 stars alone. I wish there had been more. I would have loved to read Tan's POV and what happened once the date was over. This wasn't a bad book I really enjoyed it, but I was left hungry for more.

So darn cute! Loved this kinda second chance surprise romance. Jack is endearing in is perpetual semi-discomfort; it’s clear that Jack doesn’t see himself the way that others see him. Not only his coworker/friend, but Tan, his HS crush who shows up out of nowhere.
The hijinks and difficulties that Jack face on Valentines Day serve to act as the perfect juxtaposition to how he ends his day.
A great little short story for Valentines Day or any day…

It was a cute story. Who doesn’t love an adorable dork? I enjoyed it, and even found myself smiling when Jack realized what was going on. I can’t wait to read more by this author. This was a perfect thing to read to take my mind off the quarantine.
