Forgotten by nearly everyone she's loved after the curse struck Kingdom, Fiera does what any proper fire goddess should do, she gets back to work. But in her heart an emptiness has begun to grow, pulling her deeper and deeper in reclusion. But there is one who still remembers, one who will do anything to bring the fire goddess some measure of joy again, even if that means sending her to a literal world of icy hell to do it...
Warring twins, imps, a feisty goddess, and a passionate romance... nobody’s does twisted fairy tales better than Jovee Winters! I was surprised by how vested I became with Fiera and Xolotl’s relationship! The hot and cold, the small surprises, and I can’t forget Pea and his impish sister Mugwart! These two were adorably crazy menaces!
Once upon a time I took a chance and read The Sea Queen on a whim. I fell in love with a world and several characters that day. After that I devoured every Jovee Winters and Marie Hall book that were out there. I fell in love with a new writer that day and I will ALWAYS one click her books. Most authors lose my interest around book 5, but Ms. Winters has created such a marvelous world and characters that I never want her to stop.
Just as all the books before, The Fire Queen was amazing. I laughed; I cried (oh Peabrain!!!); I couldn’t put it down! I only wish the epilogue had been about Fiera & Loty, but I’m not heartbroken that it wasn’t.
Great book and can’t wait to see what happens next! This book is not a stand-alone, you need to read the series to understand exactly what has happened and get a full grasp of the characters.
If you're reading this, you've probably read the previous books, where Fiera and Xolotl were in the Games. I always wondered what happened to them, and was anxious for everyone's happily ever after. I could go on and on about this series, including Kingdom and the Dark Kings. I just can't get enough of these. If you like twisted fairy tales, etc., you'll find many new favorites within this series. That said, Fiera and Xolotl have a lot to work through, and being trapped together....it is interesting! The added bonus scene at the end had me genuinely laughing out loud!
This book brings me back to what I absolutely loved about these Dark Queen and Dark King books. Caly and Aphrodite together again, plotting happily ever afters for everyone is a perfect combination of hilarious and just a tiny bit scary. I also laughed at the addition of Peabrain and the imps and their hijinks. There were some serious aspects, of course, as Fiera is afraid to love while Loty can’t remember her from their time in the games. As such, this was a well rounded story that made me laugh sometimes and swoon others. It was fantastic to see Fiera rise above her fears as well and I internally cheered during the last part of the book. On to the next book in the series!
Two Gods, both have lower self-esteem, one completely remembers the other while one can't. Peabrain has a plan, but will it work?!? His sister doesn't think so. This is a top-notch book, filled with laughter, love and suspense. Multiple Gods & Goddesses are involved and just when you think everything is good... well... is it?? 🤪😳 I couldn't put this book down. Stayed up all night just to finish it!! Love!!!
Fiera wasn't able to get her happily ever after in the games. Xolotl never told her of his true feelings. When there thrown together can they finally tell what's truly in their heart or will they die in battle? For Fiera, she doesn't believe she is worthy of love. For Xolotl, believes he can't because his brother has killed anything he's ever loved. Will love survive? Read on and find out for yourself! I'm on to the next!
I have loved this series from the very beginning, I now found myself up all night just to be able to read this beautiful story of 2 ppl finding out just how to trust, love and their own strength in their selves. This a must read for any lover of a good twisted fairy tale.
When you buy the set it’s only the queen set but they have accompanying books not in the set, it would’ve been nice to know which ones to buy so I could read them in the order in which they were intended to be read. I read them in series order and am half lost on every book. Kind of disappointing. The books themselves were a decent read tho.
I love this series. It's only until I got to this book, wondering the entire time..."surely she'll go back and in the kings series and fill in the gaps." Only to discover that they need to be interspersed with the queens series. *this is my scowly face* So heads up anyone recommending this series, do so but with a strong disclaimer about reading order!
I honestly don't know how Jovee does it, but she does such an excellent job of plotting this series and it blows me away with each book! Especially taking into consideration the intricacies before and after the curse.
Fiera has accepted that everyone has forgotten about her after the curse and is just planning to get on with her life. But Peabrain, her little imp son, has quite another idea in mind. He goes off to retrieve her match from the love games, Loty, to make her happy because he believes he loves her. Only, Loty does not remember Fiera, causing Peabrain to have to develop a more elaborate scheme to ensure his mama has her own happy ending. Does Fiera get her own happily ever after, the love that Caly promised her in the very first book of this series?
Fiera. She's had a special place in my heart so when her time came around I read most of her story holding my breath. And boy did Jovee deliver. It. Was. Epic. Just dreamy sigh epic. I loved it so much. Little Pea is so sweet!!
Jovee... you are truly amazing. We're - how many books? - in to your kingdom series, and you're still providing us with amazing character development, unique storylines, and beautiful (and hilarious) happily ever afters! I can't wait until the next one!
What a wonderful story. I grabbed it bc I love the author but just didnt get around to picking it up for weeks. I am so glad I got this book! Loved it and couldnt put it down once I started. The ending makes you want to shout for joy.
This story was really amazing I loved everything about it I don’t want to give any spoilers it we get to see Aphrodite and Hephy and calyssa and hades a big in this story. The Imps! I love peabrain and his sister mugwart.
I've always liked fairytales mashups and the Dark Queen series are great. The Fire Queen was just as good as the others and now I have finished these I will be reading The Dark Kings series 😁
Loty and Fiera. Another good book in the Dark Queens series. It's always nice to read about characters getting their happily ever after. The end was very satisfying. Can't wait to read The Pirate King next.
I loved how this book delved into more than just the Greek pantheon, but reintroduced some of the Aztec gods and goddesses in a complimentary storyline. Absolutely wonderful book and a great escape on a stormy afternoon!
Haven't read the kingdom series in a while and yet it was like talking to an old friend. Loved loved loved the fire queen. I can't wait til the next books are out.
great book I loved it as much as I loved the others hopefully I'll see more of my favorite stories soon I love you You're one of my favorite authors thank you so much
This is the love story between Fiera and Xoloti. How it began. How they lost it and their attempt to get it back. Loved this twisted fairytale between them. Highly recommend!
One thing: I really wish the characters in this whole series had a threat other than ‘if you don’t do this, I’ll eat you.’ It just sounds childish and overused.
