Brian Drake has been a writer of mystery, crime and adventure fiction since his first publication at age 25. As a troublemaker in high school, Drake was once accused of contributing to the delinquency of his classmates; now, as an internationally-selling thriller writer, he can contribute to the delinquency of the whole earth. He is lifelong resident of California, but keeps running out of reasons to stay. In his spare time, Drake can be found racing through Sacramento County in a bright red hot rod. Someday he may get a dog.
The Blood Tide from Brian Drake is a fantastic espionage, action thriller with lots of action, violence and international intrigue. The action transitions from East Coast United States and the jungles of cartel-controlled Colombia. Scott Stiletto is a cool character, who is both compassionate when he needs to be, and a cold, efficient killer, also when he needs to be.
I’d come to the story not haven’t read the others, but that wasn’t a problem as the story was very self-contained and satisfactory, and you can see the author has spent a lot of time developing both Stiletto and the cast of characters around him who support him through his various missions.
So, if you want to be entered by non-stop action and a host of diabolical villains executing their nefarious schemes with a competent hero acting to stop them and risking his life to do so, you could do well to spend a few hours reading this book.
Totally gripping until the end. When government officials turn a blind eye to the Cartel, how can things be better. Impossible to stop reading until you find out the truth. Loved it.

The Blood Tide starts out with a Russian assassin stalking Stiletto in his hotel due to a contract on him initiated by the Kremlin.
Stiletto, an ex-CIA employee, now works for a NGO group called The Trust. This group is called into action whenever the CIA can't find answers to questions they ask. And this also includes performing missions inside the US where the CIA is forbidden to do.
Scott's next mission is to deliver a message to a Russian intelligence agent at the Russian embassy from the Trust that the kill order contract is now over. If not, the Trust will release damaging information about the Russians to the public.
Before you know it, Scott deals with an Irish mob in Boston, a Columbian drug cartel, their US contacts, and two very dangerous women. It is obvious that Stiletto will have his hand full.
Fasten your seatbelts as this is one exciting story.
Kind of OK. Topical, modern eco thriller with investigative quality. Research information interesting. Chracters..modern Ireland with undertones from 80s Derry 'troubles'. Well put together. Why 'kinda' well, it is very low key with some apparent indecision about the main character, the investigator Paula Maquire, as to whether she is a born psychological investigator and profiler or an angst ridden mother. Gets i the way of the feel of the narrative a bit. But perfectly readable and enjoyable. Informative.
The latest installment in the Scott Stiletto series is an average story that follows some of the really great books in the series. Scott is back, returning to the mysterious organisation called the Trust, and taking on the mission of removing the Mexican cartel's connection in the US. However, the stakes were not as high as in previous books, and Stiletto deals with them with ease. The other characters in the story weren't developed much, despite having potential. Overall, the book was a decent read, but it didn't quite live up to the high standards set by earlier books in the series. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to the next installment.
Another highly entertaining novel by Mr Drake. Working for The Trust now, Scott targets the Boston mob, a Colombian drug cartel and traitors in his own organization. And then friends of his are attacked. That proves to be a mistake....
