After spending the vast majority of my life lonely, I came to this town to find answers about my mother, and instead, stumbled upon a secret society full of monsters I never knew existed outside of dark tales.

Now I've built a sanctuary, gotten in the middle of an ages-old feud between various monster factions, and somehow ended up with an ancient, queen-like tyrant targeting me, because my life sucks sometimes.

I don't know how these things keep happening to me. They just do.

Tensions keep climbing, and everyone's on edge while waiting and watching to see what Idun Neopry does next.

In the midst of all that, the secrets spill, the lies unravel, and the half-truths finally come to full fruition. It's been one hellish snowball ride to make it this far, and I'm mostly ready for anything that comes next.

That's a lie, actually. But I'd like for it to be the truth. For now, hoping for the best is all I have. Well, I guess that's a lie too. Hope's not all I have.

I also have a Van Helsing, who can slay a small army without wrinkling his shirt. Then there's a Morpheous, who can toy with my mind in ways I never imagined. I've got a wolf, who makes it a goal to keep me human-ish. And there's a vampire, who enjoys killing and stabbing.

Ancient alphas, old vendettas, super-complicated histories, mass-death threats, and a lot of personal baggage. That's become a Tuesday morning coffee break to me by now.

Like I said, my life sucks sometimes.

FINISHED BOOK:
So where do I start??? After waiting.. and waiting. and waiting

First of all. I think Kristy you built up the suspense for me. like no other. props for that.
I almost died.

I love how you tied up every freaking question. Plus made our main girl look like a freaking badass.
Im not going to ruin this book at all. But I have to say that I LOVE when MEN make ASSumptions and or try to be the white knight(no pun intended) and totally get served a humble pie.

Because my girl violet did not only come through as the baddest momma jamma ever. But she was the one to save the day and her men. Im just so proud

This book explains Violets quirks, explains big mysteries that I've been fumbling over, and my favorite... the past of her men. And I love how Violet doesn't think the worse of them. But rather loves them and emphathizes even more.

PLUS it does not hurt at all when the steamy romance is just off the wall. And how they just LOOOOVE HER. My heart can't take it.

Overall. Definitely a great series. However I would highly. And I mean highly recommend to read the previous books as refresh.
Thanks Kristy. It's been a ride. Please write some more reverse harem. Cuz you write poetry and life. That is all.

I don't know where to start with this review, so I'll by saying I'm heavily disappointed that this is the end. I'm not disappointed that this series has ended, I'm disappointed how it ended. Firstly, the complete shitshow on getting this book out. It started with one post on Facebook in July saying this book will be out sometime in August. Fast forward all of August and the LAST day of August is when this is released. I get it. I'll go fuck myself.

Secondly, this book is waaaay too long. So much could've been cut out, because for 90% of this book we're all left in the dark about everything. There's so many questions that haven't been answered and feel like they won't be answered. Violet for fuck's sake stop putting a pin in everything!

Thirdly, the romance is what kept me coming back for more. I kept wishing the guys would all become one well oiled machine, settle all their differences and treat Violet like she's an equal member of the group. But no. None of their differences get settled and they still treat Violet as though she's inferior even AFTER the ending surprise.

Lastly, the most goddamn anti-climatic ending. Throughout the series it's continuously shoved down our throats that Idun is the strongest. Idun is the biggest baddest monster of all and not even the Monstar Squad has the power to defeat her. Then all of a sudden Idun is no more? In just a few non-descriptive pages? Where's the big war? Where's the power that Violet says she has? And the guys just accept that? Let's talk about Demetria. What the fuck? How? That twist doesn't even make sense and I hate the way that it's not even explained further.

If I'd have known this was the way this series ended I wouldn't have recommended it. It's like the author had a vision when she first started this series, but lost her way and somehow ended here.

It's the end of the Monsters as we know it...

I have been waiting impatiently for Gypsy Truths to finally release and when it did, I was a wee bit excited to get started. The story downloaded and I got the shock of my life when I saw how long it was. Each instalment so far has averaged 300 pages and this was more than double that. At first, I was stoked that we'd get more time and story for Violet, Arion, Damien, Emit and my beloved Vance. As the story progressed, I started to get overwhelmed, bogged down and completely confused. Yes, I gave it four stars but I think that has more to do with the series than this particular instalment.

I guess I was used to short bursts of warp-speed action and adventure, mixed with lots of sexy shenanigans. In Gypsy Truths we still get the warp-speed action and adventure, mixed with lots of sexy shenanigans BUT it's on repeat cycle over and over and over again. There's only so much heart-stopping...then heart-accelerating I can do in one story. It was just a little too much.

AND...

...KABOOM!!

HOW DID SHE DO THAT???
HOW DID THEY DO THAT???
WAIT A MINUTE...WHO DID WHAT???
Everything is revealed... nothing is the same...
HOW THE HECK DID THAT HAPPEN SO QUICKLY?!?!?!

I really enjoyed All The Pretty Monsters and loved getting to know Violet and her monsters. The harem action is pretty tame and doesn't go into too much detail, but gives enough to keep me satisfied. Anna again plays a pivotal role and keeps us entertained with her brash and humorous take on what is going on around Violet. Idun...things definitely change in this one and I can't decide if I'm happy with how things played out in the end. It was all kind of weird.

Did I enjoy the series? Yes
Was it sexy? YES
Were my emotions involved? Yes
Was I happy with the ending? Yes...mostly
Would I re-read? I'd consider buying the audio...maybe
Does this book need an editor? YES!!!!!

If you're looking for something a little different, have the patience of a saint, and like reading about four men dedicated to one woman's happiness, I definitely recommend giving All The Pretty Monsters a try.

Wow, that was a long one, but I was left satisfied with the way it all ended.

This series has been quite the roller coaster. It started out amazingly, for me, but then I fell out of love somewhere in the middle due to the general messiness of the plot and lack of coherence. I went into this without massively high expectations as a results, but I'm pleased to say I think the author pretty much pulled it off!

What I loved about the series was in this book, namely the characters. I think the Harem in this is one of my favourites. I love how diverse and individual they all are (a rarity in a lot of RH and not something I found in the author's Four Psychos series) and I love their relationships with one another. They were all pretty fabulous here and there were some helarious moments. I also have (mostly) enjoyed the ay the relationship has developed over the course of the series and I was very happy with where this all ended up.

Anyone that's read the previous books will know that the two major questions we had were: what the hell is Violet and is she going to do anything about Idun? I'm pleased to say that both of these were answered, and while I was initially sort of baffled, upon reflection is was a satisfying resolution to both questions.

I'm reading this back and wondering, why not 5 stars, but really it comes down to one factor: this series is too messy for 5 stars.

I really think the world she's created is excellent, complex and highly original, but it's almost as if it's too much to successfully pull off in this sort of book. Whole a lot is made clearer on this book, and I found it much higher quality than the previous (probably due to the longer time it took to write and be published), I still can't help but feel like there was a whole lot of potential that hasn't been realised. It's like the writer enjoyed making us too confused throughout the series, when actually I feel like we missed out of some seriously awesome world building instead.

Anyway, I'm pleased with the outcome and I will kmss these characters.

Kristy Cunning must have been on something heavy when she wrote this! I guess it would be a lot easier for the readers to follow her train of thought, especially when reading the one-night war sequence, if they were on the same stuff. That was all over the place, and for the most part, happening offscreen! Felt like suddenly dropping inside a Mad hatters head and trying to figure out what is happening.

Though the most important questions got answered by the end, we are still left with so many new questions that have not been nor will be answered. Like what precisely was done to Idun, the biggest baddest monster Cunning was building up throughout all the previous books? Demetria? WTF? And what was that about Shera at the end? I know they are not the main characters, and their story is inconsequential for the overall picture, but why even mention them and put those scenes in the book at all at the end?

In truth, the book was too long. 200 pages could have been cut out easily without us even noticing.
The one thing I have to give to Cunning is her humor; she really knows how to write that. The scene when Violet showed her monster to the quad for the first time literally had me crying tears from laughter.

All in all, I’m glad I finally finished but compared to the Dark side series, this was bad. Not sure if I would recommend it.

I honestly loved this series, and I'm sure I'll read it again and again.

It is a complicated story with a lot of detail, and there are parts of this last book that felt a little choppy ... but my feeling is that that is because there was just SO MUCH detail to reveal that my brain got a little whirly.

I loved finally discovering Violet's truths, and I loved even more that it wasn't what I thought - it seems like it is becoming a rare things for stories to really land a well-earned (by which I mean well set up, instead of totally out of left field) twist like that.

I also think it was a little choppy because the author would abruptly cut from things she wanted to keep secret from us for a little while longer. I feel like that maybe went on a little more than it should have, which is where the narrative started to feel like it was hiccuping.

That all said, again, I loved it. Violet was every bit as awesome as I wanted her to be - after a few nervous moments - and I was really thrilled that the guys didn't pull some dumb crap at the last minute. And I'm glad that, when all is said and done, Violet is still Violet. She gets to live the life that will make her happy, and I'm really satisfied with that.

There are some open-ended bits here - minor threads, honestly - that make me wonder if Kristy Cunning is planning to come back to this world and these characters. The fact that she opened the door a crack there at the end gives me hope, anyway.

Edit to add: Glancing through reviews, I see a whole lot of whining that this book wasn't out sooner, and it surprises me. Book 1 of this series was published Dec 2018. This book - book 6 - was published end of Aug 2019. That's a whole lot of writing - and GOOD storytelling - coming to readers super fast. Oh noes, you had to wait from book 5's mid-April 2019 release until end of August for book 6!!!! How fucking entitled and spoiled are people nowadays, seriously? No wonder so much stuff coming out right now is repetitive tropes glued together and crapped out, if people are so impatient that 4 and a half months between books is too much. FFS, people.

Re-read Sept 2019
You know, the first time through, the bit at the end where the guys "punish" her ... it didn't sit well with me. I have to say it sat even less well on the re-read, to the point where I could barely get through it. It feels like they are whining man-babies salvaging their ego, and I don't like that they are rewarded for manipulating her. I honestly think Violet lets them get away with way too much shit. And I'm not particularly thrilled that the entire monster world still treats her like the Alpha's pretty, brainless pet. This book is a fabulous conclusion to the series ... if you just skip that chapter. Because fuck all of them.

Another quibble: Arion is far and away my favorite, but he never gets equal treatment. His claiming of her was a nothingburger (even Violet thinks so), and then he doesn't even get alone time with her when Emit and Damien both had her for DAYS during their claiming. No, instead he's sharing her for this dumb punishment, and Damien deliberately and directly fucks with him ... after which Arion gets treated - by Vance AND Violet - as if HE is the problem. Fuck that, fuck Damien in particular, and fuck Vance and Violet for treating Arion as if he is so much of a constant problem.

This is the second series of hers that I have LOVED, and then really really really struggled with the ending on - her Four Horseman series is AMAZING, but the ending is total shit. *sigh* At least with this one, the ending to the story lands - who Violet is, how she handles the final conflict - but the resolution with her guys is just not okay. It has a power dynamic that makes me really uncomfortable because it is rooted in lies and manipulation. How do any of these people ever trust each other enough to have a real relationship? From what I can see, they never ever will. That's disappointing.

In the end, it seems a twisted monster reverse harem tale is just my thing. Plot holes? Yes. Mary-Suism? In this book, yes. Gore? Galore. Fun? Total! I got more than I bargained for.

I agree with other readers. I loved the whole tale and the characters. I appreciated the harem action not overshadowing plot&characterization, but given the intriguing scope of the series, good editing would have turned it into a real genre gem.

What a great ending to a great series. Sure there a ton of confusing elements and problematic things, but the confusing things were mostly cleared up as I re-read the first five right before reading this one. Violet is a super strong main character and just awesome.

I will say I'm not a fan of the very last bit and how they treat her-- it felt weird and not right for them, so ignoring that scene, I enjoyed everything else and will probably re-read this series again in the future.

Kristy Cunning is one of my top 5 RH writers.

FINALLY! Ugh we get to know what Violet is and what type of monster she has. ( summary of the book) so this book is about a girl named violet who arrives in a new town after her mom dies, she is a gypsy with a monster inside her and she doesn’t know what the monster is capable of. She meets VANCE who is a van helsing, Emit who is a warewolf, damein who is an illusionist and Arion who is the vampire. Together they try find out about the mysterious town and more about the monsters that are inside in each one of them.

Ughhhh!! I fucking LOVEEE THIS SERIES! Holyyyyy! I dont have words. I love violet and the guys so much! This might be a long book but its so worth it, the guys can do anything to protect Violet and they think that Violet’s monster is kinda weak but dudeee! At the end we get to know that Violet’s monster is the most powerful of all and i was shocked to know what kind of monster she had. I was not expecting that, it was so freaking shocking!!! I LOVE IT! While the guys were a bit dumbfounded after seeing her Monster, Arion was fucking turned on to see Violet powerful. I love his character the MOST!

the writing style is so amazing and the plot captivated me from the first book. This is my second time re reading this series and i want to start again from the beginning because SO MANY THINGS HAPPEN. I cant even...i mean....this series? It’s perfection. Its addictive. There is hot chemistry between violet and all the guys, their bonding is so special and then there is the suspense + the hilarious side characters. This series has everything i love and i didnt want it to end. After i finished reading i re read the last few chapters again cuz i DIDNT WANT IT TO FUCKING END! Ughhh!! Tho the ending was so perfect.

This book would have been a 5 star for me but there is wayyyy too much dialogue. Even tho i really like books with more dialogue and less inner pov, this book had wayyy too much but that didnt lessen my love for this series! ...i am just gonna re read this again

3.5 And so, we've reached the end of this story.

All in all, it's a series worth reading. This last book was a bit lacking, compared to the others.
Yea, I expected Violet to be , but I felt like it was maybe a bit too much.
And the ending dragged a bit, we got the last few chapters all as being the ending, and that's just too long.

Loved the action until that part though. Lots of gory details (and I love me some blood!).

All in all, a series worth reading.

This book was a disappointing end to the series. I’ve stuck with this series till the end, and while I love the RH genre and I generally love CM Owens/Kristy Cunning, this book just didn’t do it for me.

The book was too long, too convoluted and I feel like I only understood the gist of it. Sadly, I don’t care enough anymore to truly try to understand what all happened.

I felt like this book was just a lot less good than it could’ve been. The start with Dorian was kind of irrelevant (except for the Flame thing, but Dorian himself played no further part), the confrontation with Idun was kind of blah (too much of the guys instead of Violet or even Idun herself) and let’s not even talk about the epilogues!

What really annoyed me most of all was that there were 10 or so chapters where the monstar squad is just ‘speechless’ ‘baffled’ ‘don’t know what’s happening’ and the whole world seems to be changed because of Violet and her monsters, yet for me it just felt like ‘oh well, then that happened’. Like, it just wasn’t that big of a deal, I guess, because the whole series is one plottwist after another.
What gets me mad though, is that in the ene, even after their bafflement, THEY TREAT VIOLET EXACTLY THE SAME WAY THEY’VE BEEN TREATING HER ALL ALONG.
WHY? WHAT WAS ALL THE DRAMA FOR???

In the end, this book left me with a lot of questions (hello? Shera?) and just felt like it was rushed and like there was too much happening at once. BUT the sex scenes were, as always, amazing, the banter was still (somewhat) there and I just genuinely love Ms. Owens writing style. Was it a bad read? No. Was it what I’d hoped for after waiting for so long and reading 6 books? No.

Violet the Portocale Gypsy

Honestly she’s really come a long ways compared to when we first met her. As a character, she has legit goals and plans for her life. She working on achieving those goals. And she is surround by dumbasses

description

“So I did what any angry, drunken mess would do when he’s sick of everything staying the same with nothing ever changing.”
“You opened the box,” I say, my eyes narrowing.
“Of course I opened the fucking box.”

Honestly my favorite part of this series is the dynamic reverse harem. They are fucking hilarious.

description

We meet Emit the werewolf, Vance the Van Hasling monster killer, Damien the succubus demon, and Arion the original vampire who are basically from the 4 origin monster families

I love how they each have such a unique personality and different relationship with Violet

“Stop fretting, Van Helsing” he tells me as he follows me down.
I’m not fucking fretting. I’m seething with envy.”

Everyone knows I love me some banter. I love the characters interacting with each other— being playful, struggling together, everything !

And this book really worked on that group dynamic which made the plot all the more entertaining to read

“I’m too out of shape for alpha battles, Van Helsing. I’m going to need some help,” I confess.
“Like the Rubio Isles?” he asks, as we both work to fend off our next Vampyre attackers.
Arion’s going to be one pissed off fucking monster.
I’m really starting to understand why Vance stayed on my ass about feeding and staying fit. Fuck my life.
“We sunk the Rubio Isles,” I remind him, straining with effort I don’t have enough energy to be able to produce.
“That was the volcano. Not us.” he argues, taking down one of the eldest and strongest without breaking much sweat.
“Sure. It’s a coincidence that dormant volcano erupted. Saving everybody was a pain in the fucking ass, Van Helsing,” I dutifully remind him.”

My critques… The sex. Bare min. The chemistry. Not even pg13. But the dynamic is just so hilarious that I literally cant stop.

The worldbuilding is fun, the plot entertaining, and the twists intriguing — what keeps me reading is the group dynamics in how wellll doneeee each of these characters are. The plot was entertaining because of HOW these characters went about solving it.

This series is the fucking embodiment of a monster on a whole fucking new level. From the past two reads, I was sure af that there's no salvaging the trainwreck I thought this was going to end up like.

But, here I am. Eating my fucking previous words and reviews. Here I am, humbled the fucking down because I've been too impatient for things to work the way I thought I wanted.

Kristy Cunning's way is way, way, way, more perfect than any way I have envisioned how the series will pan out.

How those dumb heroes stumble their way throughout the series, how Violet easily dismissed Idun and the deeply-ingrained fear she inspired over all monsters...

How every question and uncertainty and misconception were clarified in this finale.

All the nonsense I thought they are, they aren't. Simple as that. They eventually build up to the biggest and smartest plot twist in history ever. It's always that twist I think I can anticipate. They are the sneakiest. The hopelessness and helplessness lulled me and before I know it, all my dreams came fucking too true. And more.

/shakes head in attempt-albeit in futile-to clear the mind

What I just mean to say is that...the author, Violet and her monster owned it. Owned them. Owned me.

I am thoroughly mindfucked. And I looove it.

Okay, so I'm torn about this because I love this series. Arion is amazing and I really like Violet but something about this one just missed the mark for me. I should have known it would be an issue when I kept putting it off. First because of the massive size of it (631 pages!) and second because I knew it was ending.

Honestly though, maybe 200 pages could be cut straight off. I don't think we needed each guys pov for some events, only maybe the pertinent ones, and that would have prevented the book from feeling haphazard (but not in the cute Violet way - in the "this has run away from me" way).

Usually, I love Cunning's writing so this really threw me. It took me until 67% in to really get to grips with it and like it. The end was worth sticking with it. It just marks at 3* because the series started out so strongly and the last 2 books let it down

ok family, this is a review for the final instalment of Gypsy Truths.

I felt ALOT of emotions, can I just say i L.O.V.E a long book .... .... .... *smirk*

first a for most i really really enjoyed this final book, it had suspense and shock ( smack you in the face, oh dam kind of shock)... all the other books are like the bread crumbs that

and now it like gentle gentle gentle, subtle subtle subtle then BAM!!!!! IM DIVA BITCH!

what summed up the relationship changes, the power dynamic best was marta talking to violet

"they are seasoned monsters, who’ve lived through countless heartbreaks and vicious wars are not the sort of men who are going to care too much about your feelings, dear. Either you’ll have to settle, or they’ll have to change everything about themselves to accompany your demands. You decide what love is for yourself, and then make your decision.”

Violet is the storm of monsters, that one that was made "accidentally" ???? and some how is EXACTLY what was needed to balance the scales...

over all. this series was engaging, mind boggling, funny, frustrating, sexy. i am giving it

read it and don't skip to the end, trust me its worth it.

i'm going back to re read it now that i KNOW the bread crumbs to better understand the bigger picture. so much stuff i overlooked because it wasn't explained yet, it was still the mystery... now that i have finished the series , the minor subtle details are all the more JUICY!

Ah, the final book in the series! Violet was mated to Emit in book 5 and is on the verge of taking back the rest of the guys. Idun's plans to dominate are slowly revealed and some of her preparations come as a shock to the group. It all leads to the showdown between Violet and Idun - it FINALLY happens! Of course, the way it comes about was not what I was expecting, but boy was it entertaining, especially since I wasn't sure anyone was going to get out of bed to make it happen. LOL!

I was pleased with this book. I had a good time reading it. I didn't realize it, but I guess book five was busy setting things up for the end and lacked in the comical moments that the previous books had in spades (mostly due to Anna's crazy character).....but this book had me laughing again. Especially at the end! I won't ruin it for you, but those guys had me cracking up with their antics. My only complaint is that the series is over. I'll miss these characters!

It’s finally over. My god I hated this series so freaking much because of how convoluted it became. I needed to understand what the heck Violet was, and of course it was disappointing and not very clear.

My mind feels like mush after reading so much dialogue that only ever made the teeniest amount of sense. If you’re looking for a fast-paced, action-packed, plot-driven story then look elsewhere. The series is like 80% dialogue that’s mostly talking in circles and a bunch of men talking down to a single woman.

I hate myself for reading 6 of these.

Fair warning, there will be spoilers in this review though they will be hidden. I want to talk about the plot twists, but I’ll do my best to keep that section separate from everything else.

I know people are complaining about the long wait for this book, but I think it was a good thing for me. This series has a confusing plotline that I couldn’t keep track of. By the time I started this book I had forgotten most of the loose plot threads. I don’t think very many of them were resolved, but I’m not complaining. This book focuses almost entirely on the battle with Idun, the mystery of Violet, and the relationship between Violet and the guys which is all I ever really wanted.

The first half of the book is a series of seemingly random events. Damien fights Dorian and claims Violet as his flame. Vance proposes to Violet then gets knocked out by the Portocale curse. Violet winds up taking a trip through his memories when she tries to break the curse. She also gets into an argument with Idun when an omega is attacked by shifters.

This part dragged at times. The plot crept along with no real direction. Other than the relationship stuff it didn’t feel like what was happening had any real relevance. Then suddenly it’s time for Arion’s monster Olympics where everything starts to go off the rails. Vance leaves for a meeting with Pandora, but he gets kidnapped. While Emit and Talbot are rescuing him Violet tries to distract Idun. This goes horribly wrong when she manages to knock Idun back at one point. It’s clear to everyone this is the final straw and the war is about to begin.

Now time for the spoilers.

My biggest complaint about the book is that it went on and on and on. The villains were over the top with evil laughs and monologues that went on for pages about how powerful they were. Everything is over explained (but sometimes still doesn’t make sense), and over analyzed. There was way too much tell and not enough show. Even the huge battle, which should have been exciting, went on for too long.

On the plus side I was reminded how intriguing and creative I found this world at the start of the series. I was genuinely surprised by the plot twists, and very happy that it didn’t end in the predictable way I was expecting. For anyone who is nervous after the end of One Apocalypse, don’t worry. The main characters all get their HEA. There’s no weird twist in the relationship storyline.

The guys were on their best behavior for the most part. They work together more than they have in the past, and they treat Violet better, so I wasn’t as upset with them as I have been. It also helps that Violet finds her own power so she doesn’t get stepped on quite as often.

All in all, while this book is far from perfect, I think it’s maybe the second best book in the series. I was so ready to be done after Gypsy Rising, but now I’m glad I stuck it out. This wasn’t perfect, but it was a satisfying ending.

RIP Kristy Cunning aka CM Owens.

The series overall was quite awesome! It had the best combo:

- Excellent, crazy characters

- Convoluted, keep-on-your-toes plot

- Awesome world-building

- Suspenseful, mysterious secrets

- Great writing

- Amazing, shit-hit-the-fan climax

- And pretty much phenomenal everything!

The only hiccup was the ending part. Violet's character develops into a

So, yeah, the ending was shit!

So worth it

This book. THIS SERIES. Not gonna lie, there was a ton going on in this series, to the point it even got a little confusing sometimes but I got the overall gist. You have to focus to read this series lol I’m obsessed with these characters, damn can she write a good alpha male. And I’d love to read a book about their son. Before starting this series I read several reviews and it almost turned me off from reading the books but I’m SO glad I read them anyways. Mystery, action, sex, its all here. Dang good series.

UPDATE: just finished the series for the second time, it just gets better and better. I have a very bad habit of getting so anxious to finish a series so I can find out what happens that I end up skimming a lot, I can’t seem to stop myself. So it was really neat to go back a second time and see little details that I missed the first time reading the series, which helped me better understand the story. Kristy Cunning aka CM is an excellent story teller and I’ve read several series of hers, I honestly can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

Edward the ghost appears next, and I lunge for him, only to hear his laughter echoing in his wake, as he disappears and reappears next to me.
“The wolves don’t need you. But Damien does. Hurry, Van Helsing. The party’s getting too crowded there. You’re missing all the fun,” the cheeky fucker says in what has to be the happiest tone I’ve heard him use.
He disappears after that, leaving me to sink into the muddied earth beneath me, while my mind stumbles all over itself.
“What the fucking hell is going on?!” I shout toward the sky.
“A lot,” comes a rasp voice that gives an answer I wasn’t expecting.

After spending the vast majority of my life lonely my time being annoyef with this series, I came to this town book to find answers about my mother everything and everyone, and instead, stumbled upon a secret society full of monsters more secrets and maddening situations I never knew existed outside of dark tales.

Now I've built a sanctuary, gotten in the middle of an ages-old feud between various monster factions read all 6 books in the series, and somehow ended up with an ancient, queen-like tyrant targeting me writting full blown reviews that were really fantastical tales for 5 of them when the books annoyed the ever loving fluff out of me as much as they made me enjoy them, because my life sucks sometimes.

I don't know how these things keep happening to me. They just do.

Like I said, my life sucks sometimes.

That ⤴ would be the blurb for this review, if I ever wrote one. Which I kind of did. Huh.

I know, I know, you (might?) have been expecting a fantastical tale like the ones I wrote for the other 5 books, but in all honesty I got no energy for one right now.

With that said let me lay it out for you:

Did I enjoy this book? Yes

Did I enjoy the series as a whole? Yes

Did this book annoy me? Yes

Did this series annoy me? Hell Yes

The writing and structure of this book was the same as the previous ones: Shitty, capital S. The story did make up for it - to an extent. We got all the answers. We also got whiplash. So there's that.

Problems:

1) Pace: This was rushed. The whole fucking series was all over the fucking place. This could have easily been a four book series if there was any pacing at any given time. So this book was running like its ass was on fire while the rest were pretending to be turtles. Nope.

2) The Villain: WHAT VILLAIN?!?! We had 4 books were the villain was build up to unheard of proportions and in the end we saw nothing to even suggest she was worth a damn. Naturally this took away from the whole story. If you're gonna tell us someone is a villain the least you can do is show us something to back that claim up!

In the end, I am glad I read this, no matter the rage and hair pulling it induced.

I am Maraya and I survived this series.

That ending....

The conclusion to the epic and sweeping Gypsy saga finds us with Gypsy Truths, where all those wonderful, pretty monsters come out to play - including a few monsters we didn’t expect. It answers questions, ties lose ends, threads the tale and smacks a pretty bow on a story that has captivated so many of us. Even at a hefty (thank you, thank you!) 600+ pages, this is a book that you will want to read again and again... even if only to catch those subtle clues that are dropped like breadcrumbs along the way. It’s hotter than hot, action packed and exciting in a way only CM Owens can contrive.

Pros:
- Well written.
- Answers!!!! Finally!!!
- The guys, oh my lord... those guys!!
- Shera.... I adore her.
- Anna. Can’t hate her, though I almost want to.
- Sweeping, pulling history and the present in an explanatory filled epic.

Cons:
- It’s the end of our glimpse into this world..... or is it? 😉

An absolutely wonderful ending to this series! Loved every moment of it, and all the surprises it had. There were laughs and plenty of time with the guys. And ohhh I love those monster men.

I AM NOT OKAY.

How am I supposed to cope? I feel like I've waiting so long for this book, and I literally read it in two days!!! I. Am. Upset.

The Pros

1. Violet's Badassery- I was reading the first half of the book like "If this bitch doesn't finally boss up I am going to be pissed." As a reader you develop a connection with characters, and there's like only so many times you want to read about a character you like getting their ass beat. I know the whole point is to show that Violet is sweet and kind, blah blah blah, but I am so happy she finally shows what's she's capable of. I was literally whispering "yaaaas biitch" in my room when she finally made Idun her bitch. I just feel like we've all been waiting for Violet to show she's not someone to be messed with, and when it finally happened I was not disappointed.

2. The Men- Ugh. Where do I even start. They're such assholes, but I love them anyways. I do love some complex, psycho, alpha assholes. Like don't get me wrong they pissed me off even towards the end of the book but how can you not love them? The way they took care of Violet made my heart melt. The way they always ran to her when she was in trouble, and how much they adored her was fucking sweet. The love they had for each other despite the bickering was cute too. Like "aww, look how much they care for one another as they punch each other though random walls." Hahaha.

3. The Creativity- The plot of this book is creative as hell. It's so refreshing to read a book that isn't trying to be like the others. I'm so damn tired of reading reverse harem academy books. The girl gets accepted to a prestigious school where she's an outcast. Multiple guys end up loving her within like a week, and that's after bullying her for a couple days. They fight some "hard" battles and then all is well. The ATP series is not like this. It's unpredictable as hell, and you're always finding out new shit that makes your heart race, right along with the characters. This story had so many twists and turns that half the time I was confused as hell but I didn't mind. As long I got to read something different from the norm.

The Cons
None of these are huge cons. Just things that I would've liked to be different.

1. Epilogue- I wish we've would've seen more interaction between the guys and Jasper. We got like two short measly scenes, and I felt gipped. I wanted my ovaries to explode😅I also wish we could've seen some more idk, "domestic" times between Violet and the guys. Like show us a scene of them grocery shopping or doing movie night. I know we got the one scene during the epilogue, but I'm greedy and wanted more lol because I feel like during the whole book there was always something shitty happening. The only time Violet got to have fun was during Monster Olympics which didn't even last long.

2. Idun & Violet fight- When everything was going down I wanted more detail into how violet felt when she was obliterating Idun. We got the guys pov a lot during that time which was kinda annoying. Like dude don't focus on them! I need to know what's happening between Idun and Violet rn. Also, when Idun was getting her ass handed to her I wanted her to talk more. She was oddly silent during the whole human head soccer ball thing. I wanted to hear her pleading, and offering deals and shit. Very bloodthirsty of me I know.

3. The Men- While I do love them, the guys still come across to me as a little manipulative, untrusting, and competitive. I know they still have a lot of shit to work through, but I think I was expecting a little more personality growth from them.

Sidenote- Wtf was the deal with Shera? Her departure was unexpected, and weird. Almost like the whole scene was necessary...

Anyways, I just know that this book was bomb, and I'm really sad to know that I know have to try and find another book to compete with it. This is just like the TOG series all over again. I hop C.M writes another reverse harem soon.

Kinda repetitive. I liked it don’t get me wrong.
I enjoyed this, just wished it was SEVERAL chapters shorter. In the end, we got the ending we wanted. I do love this series.

This series is finally finished ! I must say that I'm glad to have stick to the end of it. Because this shine and rise moment of Violet was quite funny !

Still, it felt like it could have been a shorter story, because some of it were really dragged too long to my liking. The first book was really amazing, the second nice enough and I started to loose interest by the third. The fourth and five had me hooked again. But I think that the author could have spare a book or two. The rhythm was quite off for me. Even in by the end of the sixth book, I was starting to read really fast because when Idun was dealt with, the rest of it wasn't as interesting. I would have been more entertained if the claiming had took place sooner.

But hey ! It's just me and writing a book is really difficult and challenging, so congratulation to Kristy Cunning for this. I had great moments I can't deny it ! I laughed so hard sometimes and the banter was just magic. Of them all, Arion has to be my favorite, only because of his delusional ways and weird thinking. I hope he will learn to sail a boat soon, because I'll be on that ship !

I made it. It's sad when one finishes a book with the relieved feeling that it was the last in the series, even though it ended with a very unnecessary teaser.
What started out as an interesting world with diverse characters ended in a confusing soft porn in monster land. Pity.

This one got way too weird and creepy for me. But it was still a fascinating finale to a series where I had no idea who’s POV to believe or who was the most powerful or what was actually happening.
