And some omegaverse ones at that...

I really liked this one. It was a solid omegaverse where I really liked both the H and the h and where the h doesn't spend half the book getting like in the last couple I've read. I mean I get it...but I can can only read so much of it, you know?

My only complaint is that I would have liked a little more relationship building between the main couple...a little more time spent together or something. The author did a great job setting up Sasha's past and background, so I know she had it in her to flesh the relationship out more...but maybe that's just me being greedy.

Other than that, a really solid omegaverse book and I really look forward to the next one in the series.

I really enjoyed Choosing her Alpha like massively: I read this on wattpad initially and was instantly transfixed this was just so imaginative with a story that pulled me into the unfolding narrative almost instantly.
So this was a reread after the author decided to publish and I am so ecstatic other's will now get the chance to experience this fabulous story on a much wider basis.
Let me tell you it was no actual hardship reading this again I adored it just as much this time around, definitely the sign of an excellent read that.
I am all for the feels and how I ultimately connect with a story, So when rating this I ultimately went with my gut and not only could I not put this down I was actually mesmerised and so emotionally invested in what was actually unfolding.
So fantastic and imaginative world-building that didn't information dump on me (big plus point) a lot of authors can actually lose a reader here.
This was set against a backdrop of Alphas, Beta and Omegas and then drones which are basically at the bottom.
Drones are really just basically what's left of the humans gene-pool.
Drone science has produced the original Alpha and with evolution, the breeds are now the ruling class.
So our Omega here is young Sasha a breed approaching her first estrous.
Current events with her troubled home life lead to her approaching the warlord Constantine Kane to make a bargain.
Well, Kane might just be my favourite Alpha ever: not only did he take care of Sasha in such a protective and kind way treating her like the precious cargo she was he worked with her waiting patiently until such time she was ready to be a breedmate.
So discount Sasha’s young age here this was not in any way creepy at all mainly I think because this is Omegaverse so it's all about biological urges and such and also the way this handled things.
When it came to the heat here this was bloody scorching this author can sure write a combustible sex scene that makes you tingle in all the right ways I was seriously impressed at how hot this was.
I also adored the slow-burn dynamic between Sasha and Kane it was really well done.
So yeh safe to say I loved this and I think this new writer is a definite emerging talent and certainly one to watch out for.
This was just magic and I was completely captivated throughout hard to believe this is actually a debut author, seriously impressed, I will be keeping an eye on this author as she just ticks all my boxes.
Everyone just needs to go out and read this book especially if you love omegaverse this is one of the good ones and gets massive hell yeh from my camp.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Choosing Her Alpha.

4.5 The Final Act of Conquest Stars ⭐

Set in a dystopian Omegaverse, I was completely fascinated from the beginning and read this in one day. A world divided into Sectors and hierarchy with Alphas at the pinnacle, whilst for the rest it's a struggle for survival. Regardless of who you think you are or aren’t.

Omega Breeder Sasha has only ever known abuse. Ultimately, it's her stepfather's nefarious ways that makes the decision for her. With the intent to save her people and herself, Sasha leaves to find Constantine Kane. The plan is to offer herself in exchange for marriage and protection.

It's no easy feat crossing sectors as it's dangerous and forbidden. And when Sasha finally reaches Sector 12, she's totally unprepared for what she finds. Alpha Kane and his harem. Now stick with me, because I was going to drop this book like a hot potato. Yet with the urging of my GR bestie I was persuaded to push through. I’ve been rewarded for listening…

Kane is a warlord, a god amongst his people. When he allows Sasha to stay in his sector, he wants nothing to do with her. He has no use for a child. Except when Sasha’s first heat cycle is triggered it sets off a chain of events that makes everything clear. She’s meant to be there all along.

Seriously I loved this book and I was enamored with the barbaric world building and the characters. There's nothing better than initially disliking a hero who then becomes the focus of your obsession and fantasies. Wow he was something else. This was no second-rate Alpha; he was all man with a knot to match! Plus, I adored the whole ugly duckling phase for our girl Sasha.

Choosing Her Alpha was gritty and raw. The fact that the author didn't refrain, makes this different to what I'm used to reading in the OV genre. I was pleasantly surprised with the slow burn and gentleness displayed by Kane which was the perfect fit for the storyline. So, when the action does happen, it makes the build-up that much sweeter! 🔥🔥

So very bad.

This book was CRINGEWORTHY! For the first 60% Sasha was an 18 year old “child” who had not yet reached puberty. Everyone repeatedly refers to her a child, she is described as chubby, having baby fat, and being pudgy. She is extremely weepy and is constantly crying. She also makes terrible, rash decisions without any forethought. So I guess that fits in with her being a “child”. Then the book gets weirdly gynaecological. Sasha goes into heat and has to go the doctor with Kane. The doc proceeds to basically give her pap exam, which is described in great detail. Meanwhile she is “gushing” a fluid from her nether regions, which at first she thinks is urine, but is actually her “slick” because of her heat. EWWWWW.

The book is 18 chapters long. Kane and Sasha don’t spend any significant amount of time with each other and nothing happens between them until chapter 17 (mainly because she’s been a “child” this whole time). The sex scene that takes up the entirety of chapter 17 and some of chapter 18 is beyond gross! I almost threw up when Sasha started lactating (despite not being pregnant) and Kane nursed from her all the while saying “feed me”. Then HE “feeds” HER by using his fingers to scoop out their mixed jizz from between her thighs and putting in her mouth. BARF!

Then the pinnacle comes in chapter 18, when the mating frenzy is done. Sasha wants to shower because her hair feels “crusty”. He won’t let her. He takes her naked crusty ass, wraps her in a sheet that is saturated in their cum, blood, and drool, marches her through the palace and presents her to his parents. WTF?! Honestly if this had happened mid way through the book I would have stopped reading. As it was, there were only a few pages left so I finished.

The first epilogue was stupid. It was basically the same story but told from Kane’s perspective. Not really a true epilogue. The second epilogue wasn’t even about Kane and Sasha, but about Merrick. I will not be reading anymore books from this series, so epilogue 2 was a complete waste of time. Actually this whole book was a complete waste of time.

Sasha leaves behind her cruel life and escapes from from the clutches of her evil step-father in search of a stronger mate who can protect her. She meets warlord Kane and strikes a deal with him.

I like the premise of the story and it was interesting. The scarcity of food, military background and breeds divided between stages: Alphas, Betas, Omegas and Drones. Sasha is independent and has little experience of the outside world but she thrives impressingly. Kane is an Alpha who everyone fears. He is dangerous and feared. He is likeable and protective though not my usual Omegaverse Alpha who tends to be a major a-hole.

3.5 stars: Well, here goes my first foray into the Omegaverse. And I am not quite sure how to feel about it. It was fun, it was smutty (yay) and then it was also kind of disturbing (there were just way too many fluids coming out of a female for my liking).

I’ve read that this book is as good as it gets in the Omegaverse and if that’s the case I’ll have to be really careful picking my next read. (I’mma give this genre another try.) Anyone have any suggestions (that are not too rapey)?

Update: Choosing Her Alpha will be available in KU January 31st! I received an ARC and I'm pleased to see a more polished, well-edited story. I reread this twice on Wattpad and I'm happy to now own it. I know I'll definitely be rereading it again. To me, Choosing Her Alpha is an Omega Cinderella tale. While there are dark themes, I wouldn't classify this as a dark romance. Definitely an Omega coming of age story with a fairy taleesque romance.

This is a standalone ending with a hea :)

Original review (with slight plot spoilers)

4.25 stars

"Sometimes one had to stand up in defiance and refuse to stand still, to raise her eyes and find a solution...So she'd do something. She'd choose a stronger alpha. She'd choose someone Merrick couldn't win against."

In this world Omegas are rare and valued. Laws protect them. This doesn't keep all Alphas from abusing them though. Sasha has the right to inherit her father's business and choose an Alpha for herself. Her mother, Maura, and her husband-mate, Merrick, have other plans for Sasha.

Sasha's mother is a nasty piece of work, and after she dies her husband, Merrick, plans on mating with Sasha and taking over her late father's business. To avoid this outcome, Sasha is driven to action. In this Alpha-dominated, misogynistic society, her best solution is to find a stronger, better Alpha to mate with than Merrick.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend"

Who does Sasha choose? Merrick's rival, Constantine Kane. Sasha doesn't know much about him, besides he might be persuaded to mate with her to get revenge against Merrick and receive the benefits from a marriage to a rare Omega Breeder.

Sasha's willingness to be Kane's bride-mate is her strongest bargaining chip. When Kane tells her he doesn't want a bride-mate, Sasha has to reevaluate. She tries to escape his compound, but unfortunately she's already firmly in Kane's grasp.

Currently on Wattpad until September 30th, this story completely captured my attention.

What makes this story stand out is that it's character-driven. Both Sasha and Kane go through character arcs by the end. The world-building is unique, complex, and well-thought out. There's plenty of smut & kink, but it fits within the story. There's a plot. I say this all the time in my reviews, so I'm starting to feel like a broken record...but there was no info-dumping, which I always appreciate. I slowly learned about the world as the story progressed. The world-building intertwined with the plot in a cool way.

When I first started this story it was hard for me to get past chapter 1. Why? The story starts out with Sasha taking care of her infirm mother. The care taking duties were not pleasant to read, and Maura is hateful and abusive. By the end of chapter 2 Sasha was making plans for herself and I was hooked! I stayed up until 3 am reading this story. I appreciate that it's a complete story versus a short Omegaverse serial. Finishing this book was a satisfying reading experience.

Choosing Her Alpha is coming down from Wattpad September 30th for editing before it's published. The author mentioned certain details would be changed (minor details like the ages of the characters, etc). If you don't mind a few imperfections this book is definitely worth checking out on Wattpad. If you wait till it's available on Amazon the story will be more polished.

This is a standalone and ends with a hea.

The next book, Her Broken Alpha, can be read before or after this book. It’s also a standalone, just in the same world. *Her Broken Alpha is no longer on Wattpad, but will be published on Amazon eventually.

Isoellen is an author I have never heard of until recently through a new GR friend and all I have to say is OMG she is awesome. I loved Choosing Her Alpha from beginning to end, my only complaint is that I wanted more. Sasha is fantastic and I loved all her hissing and declaring that Kane was hers and Kane is perfect too, cutting off hands lets anyone know not to touch what is mine. Even with all the leaking fluid and lactating I was hooked lol. I'm am totally in stalker mode and will definitely be following this author.

This book is probably the best omegaverse book I’ve read. And the second one this week.

It’s a dystopian set in what was once a thriving city. A city now divided into 12 sectors. Sasha lives in sector 10 and life there is hard. Her mother is a bitter nasty broken woman. Married for the third time to a poor excuse of an alpha. But more on Merrick later.
Her mother is dying and she’s not dying quietly. Venom and hate spews out of her mouth. Most of it is directed at Sasha. Who at 17 is close to her first estrous. When she’ll become a woman. And she’ll be safe at last.

"Merrick can't do anything to me, Mother. You took him as your third husband, not me. He can't touch me. You know the law says I can choose my mate. I'll pick from the Selection. There has to be one decent alpha in Sector 10 who wants an omega breeder."

But her mother has been scheming. Planning to take Sasha’s future away.

Sasha has never experienced life outside her sector. Everything is scarce including water. But she aims to revive her precious father’s bar. Get rid of the prostitution and drugs. Make it once again into a respectable establishment.

But now she has Merrick to worry about. Handsome on the outside but rotten within. He abandoned his mandatory military service. Losing the respect of his peers. He hides out in sector 10 abusing his staff and planning to make Sasha his.

Realising she has to do something. Sasha travels to sector 7. She is amazed at the difference. Not only in her surroundings but the treatment of drones.

Constantine Kane is the ultimate alpha and Sasha’s target. She’s a valuable omega and plans to offer herself to him.

But that’s enough from me if you want more you need to read it. I will say it’s definitely a book I’ll re-read.

It’s a fabulous book. The world building is good and I completely lost myself in it. Kane is hard yet fair. Sasha is for the most part a great female character. However there is one TSTL moment which had me sighing and rolling my eyes. But beyond that she’s strong. Plus considering everything that’s thrown at her she’s amazing.
At one point it’s like a rug has been pulled out from under her.

I want to thank Meredith for the recommendation.

I did not like this.
Luckily I accidentally started with the second book and I enjoyed that more (probably why I had such high expectations)
It's not safe, and I thought it wouldn't bother me because from what I gleaned he was with OW while she was technically a child. Well, it did. Mostly because I didn't see much of a difference in their interactions before and after her maturation and because there was no clear delimitation (and it was so sudden too). The scene was in too much detail and too close to their own pheromonal attraction for my liking. But even after that, there was just no connection between the leads.
While this wasn't my cup of tea, I do enjoy the world and I will continue reading the author.

Best omegaverse ever! This is the book I compare all other omega verses too. In my opinion, this is the perfect omegaverse novel in every way. All the details that I believe should be included are here: nesting, heat, rut, levels, registration, immediate mating, etc. I hate it when an omega hides from her fate in a book, I find it super annoying and unrealistic, so I love that this book was unique and different. I also love the idea that the omega always chooses her mate.

Sasha (18) is strong and compassionate. She is extremely territorial when provoked, but also can be quite meek. She was a great omega and super realistic for being brought up in a place like the 12 sectors.

Kane (188) is an alpha prince and warlord. He is one of the most powerful alphas in the 12 sectors and has waited many years for a bride-mate. I really liked that alpha’s had the supernatural ability to live for a really long time, very interesting.

Overall, if you like romance, especially omegaverse or want to try it, read this book! It is so good!

The story has been polished until it shines.
It is more than ready to be published.
And it more than ready to be enjoyed by fans of omegaverse.

After hearing this story was on Wattpad until the end of the month,i knew i had to hurry if i wanted to read it. And i’m glad i did! The typos i found, were mostly found by others already. And knowing the author is going to improve it,before releasing it on Amazon,i wasn’t too bothered with them....
The story is well written, and i really enjoyed it.

It’s about a young omega breeder, with a witch of a mother that hated her from birth. The alpha her mother is with,Merrick, has evil plans for Sasha and she’s desperate to find a way out. Overhearing him cursing warlord Kane, she knows he might be the one to help her. But when she meets him,she knows she’s in trouble....He is a real ALPHA,a strong and commanding one. And he’s decided to keep her.....

❗Some spoilers❗
Note: I'm writing this review more for those who have already read it. Those who have yet to read this book will probably find better, detailed reviews from other reviewers?

4 ⭐ for the writing, dystopian world building and Sasha (h)
2.5 ⭐ for the MCs dynamics

This was a dark read. I'm very new to Omegaverse and this book was on the messed up side of the OV spectrum. I have no complaints with the writing, the depth of depravity in this dystopian set up despite it being difficult to read about - I can appreciate the world for what it is even if I wouldn't like to spend time in it. I think Sasha (h) is absolutely kick-ass, she is beyond tough to survive what she has been through, is BRAVE, she has her head screwed on right, has heart and has a spine.

What I didn't like is Kane (H) during rut. And in the epilogue where we get a mini Kane POV - I'll get to that in just a minute.
So what's right with him is the basic fucking minimum - that he doesn't damage Sasha before she matures (what a big fucking favour, thanks big guy, I'm a big fan🖕) + doesn't want slavery (trying to keep some details vague to avoid spoilers where I can help it) and is actively fighting against it. That's it. That's all that's good about him.
What I hated was when Sasha realised, mid rut, that HE WASNT GOING TO TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. Plus in the epilogue where, -and I don't give a flying fuck about alpha instincts being an excuse for this because the whole sub genre is fucking make-believe so make-believe better is what I'd say, SO, in the epilogue where he has a thought that runs through his head after she defies him a certain way, to WHIP her "only to leave red marks" - why thank you, Mr asshole man, just red marks? Well why didn't you say so, should we just bend over right here then, no biggie? No. Fuck you Kane. This is abuse. And this is AFTER he has seen her scars once before - clear proof of how much abuse she has endured all her life. Fighting his crazy need for her, he has this abusive mini-thought/plan to whip her and THEN sees her scars a second time and is like.. mmm I'd rather pleasure her. Again, fuck you Kane. She came from abuse, depth-lacking Kane is not right for anyone let alone for her.
Also, no one needs to be marked black and blue, least of all a female. If an author is going to go that direction of a rough, intense rut/heat then next time make the fucking male bear black and blue marks too.

Oh and I did not think that the doctor's office scene, the SA that happened there to Sasha, had to go on for as long as it did WITH his presence right fucking there. What the fuck was that about?! I know this can be taken out of context, but if you have read the book you'll probably be on a similar page?

Kane just doesn't have much to him other than being an alpha warlord and having one or two basic pieces of ethics. He's a bully, non communicative, "doesn't take no for an answer", is abusive (I count thoughts as red flags too), is 99% lust personified - where the fuck does he have ANY semblance of love towards Sasha, I ask this universe? I thought his epilogue would show me his heart, but HAHA joke's on me - all I saw was his dick instead and I'm not celebrating.

Not an ideal book to enter the Omegaverse - just a note to any newbie. BUT this is not a bad book. This hero is just not loveable. If you go in knowing he's not going to sweep you off your feet then you'll be a-okay.

I might be reading the 2nd book because it features new characters - but I wonder if I should do more due diligence before I jump into that one.

❗TW:
I'm sure there's a better more exhaustive list somewhere on the internet, I'm writing whatever I remember -
A shit ton of abuse of all kinds including parental abuse, SA, slavery, mentions of graphic forced births, sex slavery and r*ape, a fucking harem of women being bedded by the alpha - and while I totally understand the context of that scene, it's not really easy to sit back and relax through it - this scene is before Sasha reaches her omega-dynamic maturity and the group sex happens without the alpha's (Kane's) knowledge of her presence in the same room.

Well that was different! Loved it (in a weird twisted way).
3.5 stars rounded up. Not for the faint of heart. It's dark and yet it's fluffy too.
It kinda reminded me of Milana Jacks books but with more romance and less cannibalism ; )
Romantic in a me Tarzan, you Jane kinda way... but Jane has a spine.

The world building is a bit like Hunger Games, but with genetically enhanced/altered people creating caste system. Sasha is a rare breeder that can give birth to alphas. These aren't shifters but they do have claw like nails and bite during sex.
The first 20% was Sasha and the house of horrors she lives in with her disgusting step-dad, and her sewer of a mother.

For me the story really got going after she escapes.
I don't want to give too many spoilers but there's hardcore sex (all at the end) that would make Jordan Silver blush. There's also a fair bit of violence, kinda off stage, but visceral. The H is over 7 feet and the h is closer to 5 so the size difference was pretty ridiculous.

Then there's a couple epilogues. One from the H's POV where he's thinking about Sasha, and the second from the POV of one of the villains who escaped, but from a few years later. Probably a lead into the next book.

Safety isn't bad but not great either, but honestly it didn't bother me much. Big spoilers here, just so you know...

After several recommendations to read omegaverse, I tried another series - forcing myself to read the first three books and then just gave up. It wasn’t for me. However, when this one was introduced in a reader group I decided to give it one more try. I still have mixed emotions about this troupe.

’Breeders choose, and whether he wanted a bride-mate or not, Sasha had chosen him.’

I’m uncertain if this has more books to come, but most of this was world building, written completely in the heroine’s point of view with an epilogue in the hero’s. There was very little actual interaction between Kane and Sasha and that disappointed me. I never had a chance to really get to see this couple as a couple or to work out any issues they might have. This is all about Sasha and her journey into maturity.

While the epilogue certainly shines the light on Kane’s jealous actions, there were not many scenes that highlighted this behavior. He was protective, of that there is never a doubt. I wish I could have experienced more of him. I think I would have been completely in love with this if I had. Once this couple comes together, it’s raw, dirty and intense!

Overall, this was an interesting read and I might try another book if this is a series, but I don’t feel driven to do so.

Original thoughts
Hmmmm not quite sure what to say, this was my very first read of this sort

Review soon

Originally read August 2020, reread February 2021

With a mother who hates her, Sasha has suffered years of abuse since the death of her father. With her mother dying Sasha learns she's plotted with her Alpha husband to deny Sasha her right to choose her own husband. Fearing for her life and those of her loyal workers Sasha sets off to find the one person guaranteed to keep Merrick away from her...... The most feared Alpha warlord Constantine Kane. Being around Kane isn't what she expected however, he's brutal and very bossy yet when her accidental exposure to his Alpha pheromones sends her into her first heat, Kane is the only Alpha Sasha wants.

********
Even on my first reading I wasn't sure what to say about this book, there're a few things in here that I don't like
Sex with OW after meeting the h(yes she was a "child" ha see if I care)
Dub con
HUGE age gap 😂(188/18)
Slight punishment
Not much relationship development

But
I enjoyed this Nevertheless, which leads to my conflicting feelings. Sasha was a strong h who I really liked, even with her nature working against her she held her head up and made the best of her situation.
I didn't quite get the same feel for Kane as we only briefly get his POV but sex scene with OW and age gap aside he's actually my type of Alpha hero, brutal to everyone else but gone for his girl.
In the end this worked for me at this particular time but there's a definite possibility that my feelings will change on a reread. Time will tell, I do look forward to more from this author however.

***the h arrived at the H's home not yet having gone through her first heat making her appear as an adolescent to Kane. He ordered a room for her but a spiteful woman set her up to be with the women of his harem. She then spent hours listening and seeing him having sex with 5 OW. He didn't know she was there.

Omegaverse
No cheating
After the above scene the H wasn't with anyone else and as he was out searching for Merrick it took a couple months before they actually get together which I really needed
Virgin h
Mega manwhore considering he switched out his harem every year I think it was and he's 188 years old. 😯😳

Why did I even bother...

So, I decided to start reading some books that were getting 'dusty' in my Kindle.

I saw the blurb of this one, not bad but not great, so I thought why not give it a try, right?

Well, I reminded myself why it's ever a good idea to just read stuff you find without a bit of research.

I wasted my time waiting for the action to start, waiting for the good part of this plot to happen, waiting for something, anything really. I mean yes, you're weak and blah blah, you're Omega, whatever.

But we have a whole UNIVERSE in this book that isn't actually there. We have a dystopian world, we get some glimpses of a story of some scientists trying to create something to save the world, but that's it. A glimpse. Actually, it's worse than a glimpse, it's a sentence. One. Sentence.

So, no world builder, check.
No chemistry between characters, check.
Lack of a real plot, check.

On the other hand, why not 1 star?
Well, as I said, I got a small, small glimpse of something, and it made me want to finish the book. True, I skimmed 50% of it, but I still finished.
So, 1 star for making me curious (and then leaving me hanging, but eh).

All in all, there are some decent Omegaverse books out there, but this, unfortunately, isn't one of them.
Yeah, it's incredibly hard to write this type of story, but don't give up, reader, you can find better! You can find worse as well (this book was still better than others), but eh.

Good luck searching!

I enjoyed this omegaverse book. This series promises to be different than others (minus gang rape, cheating, things like that). I enjoyed the world building. There are 12 sectors and there seems to be a movement toward empowering the omegas in most sectors. Our h flees her abusive stepfather and evil mother and infiltrates the H’s household, not knowing how powerful he is or his true identity. H realizes what a prize she is and he waits for her to go through her first estrous and reach maturity before claiming her.

This book has explicit sex and violence and the plot is fast-paced. This promises to be an interesting series. I’ll look for more!

Right from the beginning I knew a few pages in I was going to like this book. It was an interesting story which held off the typical ‘alpha-omega’ highly combustible mating scene for near the end of the book.

As Meredith put it: a Cinderella omegaverse story.

Heads up:
It was a bit icky that while everyone thought/treated the h like a child in the beginning (she’s 18 but hasn’t had her first estrous) she was put in dangerous sexual situations (not by the H) and there is molestation (by a doctor).
The h sees the H get it on with his harem (without his knowledge and when she’s still treated as a ‘child’).

5 STARS!!
Breeders choose, and whether he wanted a bride-mate or not, Sasha had chosen him.
Fabulous! Not quite as dark as some Omegaverse books I've read, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one, especially the feistiness of the heroine. 😍

This is a great omegaverse read, especially for a debut novel.

Towards the lighter grey end of the "dark spectrum", Choosing Her Alpha is a great addition to the omegaverse genre. The sex is all consensual, though there are a few scenes of violence and a near miss scene. Isoellen has created a dystopian future that reminded me a little of that in the O'Kane series of books by Kit Rocha. I'm not suggesting any copying, this is definitely it's own book and a really great one too. Several friends had recommended this book as one to read, and since it was in KU I decided to give it a try. I'm so happy I did because this proved to be a very captivating read, I really didn't want to put this one down.

It's pretty difficult to do anything other than adore Sasha, a strong and determined girl who cared about those around her. In a world where fertile Omega's are already quite rare, she displays gifts that truly set her apart. This is one area that I would have liked to have seen more detail on, or to have it play a more significant role in the story. In fact there were a couple of different plot strands that allowed a more detailed picture to be painted of Sasha's background and life, but that didn't really add to the story going forward.

Whilst the members of Kane's harem weren't the nicest of females, I liked that the author didn't go down the route of all other females being nasty and bitchy to the heroine. In fact there is a good blend of supporting characters to give the story extra depth.

The story is quite slow burn, we have to wait a fairly long time for the first sex scene between Kane and Sasha. There was just so much great story within the pages that I didn't miss them. In fact I felt it made the relationship between Kane and Sasha feel more believable. There was also some necessary world building that took place in this time.

The epilogue is written from Kane's point of view with him reminiscing over certain events, allowing us to understand his actions and reasoning. Whilst it was really good to understand some of his motivations and feelings, in future I would love the author to have both point of views scattered throughout the book. It doesn't have to be a 50/50 split, but including it more frequently does allow us the reader to form a deeper bond with both characters.

This is an author I will most definitely be keeping track of and reading in the future.

Solid 4.5 🌟

I had to take off half a star due to many misspelled and misplaced words here..

This was a slightly different take on the Omega-verse I'm used to, with my fave author, Lizzy Bequin.. but this author, Isoellen, gives a very fresh and intriguing take on this world and our Alphas and Omegas natures'..

VERY INTENSE. And grotesque. Scary..🤯😱😱

I just have two words for you, Constantine Kane. Remember his name🥵🥵🥵 Dude is 🔥 and the last 18% of this book will have you fanning so many flames.. I PROMISE! MY GAWD!!

So, I was so enthralled with this world. 2nd book I believe is going to be about Merrick. And I truly hated this Alpha.. but when it's revealed in Epilogue 1 who he really is, my mouth was on the floor!😲😲... And then with what was revealed in Epilogue 2,.. I guess that means I'm definitely reading book 2🤣

Triggers.

Not a lot of storyline to be found. What does exist is boarder line pedophilia issues. It became uncomfortable to finish for me.

Happy reading,

Are you looking for a safe Omegaverse with NO rape, NO cheating, NO sharing, NO abusive Hero and a satisfying HEA? Read this book.

description

Take my rating with a grain of salt because this was my first Omegaverse and I'm not an expert .
This book randomly popped up on my feed and I knew I had to read it because all the reviews I read stated that it was a “safe”read.
I'm so happy I gave it a chance because I loved it. Yessss, I loved it because it contains everything I crave in a book

✅ Swoon Worty Hero
✅ Strong heroine
✅ Chemistry
✅ world building
✅ great writing
✅ Smut
✅ romance

I would have liked a little more relationship building between the main couple...my only complaint.
Isoellen did an amazing job with her debut novel and I'll definitely read other books by this author in the future (meaning I'll start reading Her Broken Alpha the moment I finish writing this).

PS: Since I'm an Omegaverse Newbie I was confused af after reading the first chapter

Alpha, Beta, Omega, Drone, Rut, knotting, nest, (...)

And thank Jesus I found this

This book was very uncomfortable to read. For most of the book the h is described as a child, who still has baby fat, pudgy, chubby, an all other descriptions that scream way underage. Though it says she is coming of age, the picture presented is something else. And the H is almost a hundred or something. Just No. It didn't help that he had to waited a few weeks/months for her body to develop, cringe! And then there's a scene with a creepy pedo gyno, in detail. Nope

I just... I know this wasn't for me. But I also think it was fucking awful either way.

I don't even have the energy to complain, but note to all authors.

Don't have a hero refer to himself as a pedophile for being attracted to a woman and then 2 chapters later they are cuddling.

I shit you not, that happened.

And nothing that came after could repair that damage for me.

Before, I wasn't sure that an omegaverse can be written without an abusive hero, cheating, rape scenes or unnecessary gore but now I am. This is how you do it.

3.5 Omega Stars

Choosing Her Alpha is a gritty-ish dystopian, omegaverse romance… with a hint of shifter (teeth and claws) This is free on KU, (formerly on wattpad) and put together really well for a new author. The plot is different; I wouldn’t call it “tamer” than the typical omegaverse. The author certainly does not shy away from violence, but there isn’t a ton of sex. Four scenes I believe, all are consensual… two including the h… two she observes. I’m not saying there isn’t a sexual element, just that it isn’t the spanking, raping, repeat we usually see. * One scene has been flagged by others as cheating. Sasha has just met Kane, and that night overhears him having sex in the next room.-you decide* Kane, doesn’t mistreat, or abuse the h in anyway. He’s kind of a gentleman, murdering, savage alpha-lol

Sasha is young (18) and still considered a child (hasn’t gone through her first estrous) Her abusive mother hates her and is dying, so she encourages her abusive prick step dad (Merrick) to force her to marry/mate him so he can have her family business. Desperate, she seeks out Constantine Kane to offer herself as his bride mate, which he appears initially to be hesitant…cuz she’s still a kid. The book has a lot going on to keep you engaged. My only complaint was the couple spent chunks apart, that made me want to skim some. Part of the epilogue is several years in the future with Merrick reflected on his choices, so I look for the next book to be his. My rating is based on the genre, so if paranormal, violence, knotting, slick, and growling isn’t your thing….Skip it

re-read 8/31/2020 It looks like this may be an ongoing series, so I want to leave a few notes for me, so I don’t have to re-read each time. Some of these are SPOILERS.

This was one of the best omegaverse stories I have ever read. I did have my reservations because the h is 17 years old (I avoid YA books, can't stand them), but one of my friends had recommended it and it was on Wattpad. Once I started I couldn't stop reading, even though it wasn't fully edited and needing it badly (the author does warn about this).

The h, Sasha, is indeed 17, but you forget it, she's a mature and thoughtful person because of her harsh background; she's compassionate and wholesome in spite of her horrible life experience. The H, Kane, is everything an Alpha should be and then some...When he first encounters Sasha she looks childish (I was afraid it was going to be creepy), but he treats her with so much care that he became quickly one of my favorite Alphas ever.

There were some repetitions to the narrative, but it didn't bother me because the story and the characters were so riveting. The world described is classically dystopian (post-apocalyptic, closed enclaves, a martial regime) with a society divided in drones and breeds (Alphas, betas and omegas).

Also, if you enjoy the Alpha/omega dynamics, it is very well described and developed, with insanely hot erotic scenes with lots of body fluids ;-D.

I have to mention that, at last, here there's an omega that looks fertile, voluptuous...in most books, the omegas are rail thin and emaciated, which in my book is the opposite of how a fertile woman born to breed should look like according to evolution (with all the due respect to all body types) and that's the cultural legacy of the times we are living.

So, if you like that and are not squeamish about said fluids, do not miss this! If this is her debut, Isoellen is going to bring many readers a lot of joy. I wish her all the luck! I will certainly be following her work.
