Pull up a beach chair and dig your toes in the sand as life continues in Lobster Bay.
Things are changing for Jane Miller. Just as her friend Claire gets on her feet again from a near-catastrophe with her bakery, Jane faces challenges with the beachfront bed-and-breakfast her family has owned for generations. Her mother is no longer able to run things and Jane finds herself in charge.
It’s a big change, especially since Jane expected to be retired by now, but she’s promised her mother she will carry on the family legacy. Too bad she doesn’t know very much about running an Inn.
But luck is on her side when she comes across a new furry friend, Ranger, to help her navigate the challenge. It doesn’t hurt that Ranger’s new owner is easy on the eyes--even though Jane vowed she’d never look again.
Naturally she also has Claire and Maxi to lean on. Claire is happy with her new bakery and new beau, but Maxi is facing some changes of her own. Will Maxi find the strength to finally pursue her passion for art even while her marriage may be in trouble?
Visit Lobster Bay on the coast of Maine today and find out how these three friends navigate the changes in their lives.
This book can be read as a standalone story, but it will be a lot more fun if you read book 1 first as you will get more background details about some of the characters in this story.
A heartwarming story that will melt your heart. A great cast of characters that draw you into the story. I really hated to see it end. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
This is the second in the Lobster Bay series. It is a standalone but I recommend reading them in order to understand the characters backstories and development.
This hit close to home for me as I am dealing with placing both parents in some type of long-term care based on their differing needs.
The story is set in the charming and quaint town of Lobster Bay, Maine. The main focus is on Jane and her struggles of having to put her Mother into an elder care facility. The Bed and Breakfast take a back seat to this story. I found it well-written and moved at a good pace. Although it did not take me away from my family situation, it did provide a break from the Corona Virus hoopla happening throughout the US and portrayed so disturbingly on the news.
I was given an advanced copy of the book and am not required to leave a positive review.
Changing Tides is a story about dealing with change and solving problems with the help of friends and family, and in this case even the whole small town of Lobster Bay. Jane had recently placed her mother into an amazing senior care facility. Now all she had to do is get over the guilt, and figure out how to make the family Inn profitable again. She relies on the help and support of her best friends, Claire and Maxie, and her sister Andie who arrives from New York for a visit. Although this is the second book in the Lobster Bay series, it is easily a stand-alone read, but you'd miss some of the rich backstories of these amazing women. I really loved the story and look forward to the next book in the series.
This is Book Two in the Lobster Bay Series and I really enjoyed it. Jane, Claire and Maxi’s lives have a lot going on. Fortunately they have each other to turn to when things are rough. Jane’s sister, Andie, is in town, helping out at the inn, and trying to figure out when she is going back to her job at Christie’s in New York. Hopefully she will stay in Lobster Bay. The author is doing a fabulous job with this series!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
What a fantastic story. A family's bed and breakfast legacy is starting to look and feel neglected as the youngest daughter struggling to keep things going while caring for her mothers dementia and the oldest daughter is off in new York is also struggling with work and life. The characters are very supportive, loyal and community. This story is so engaging and uplifting I couldn't put it down. Definitely a must read. I can't wait to read the next book.
The second book in the Lobster Bay series set on the coast of Maine. It is a delightful tale about Jane who has to place her mother in a nursing facility And still run the inn which has been in the family for years. She has roots and Friends in this town who are willing to help restore the inn as they take on Wedding clients. There are problems to face as well as new challenges, and Second chances for her friends and sister. I recommend this book.
Like Virgin River but not as overly dramatic? I love Maine and I officially love Lobster Bay. I wish this place and characters were real so I could meet them.
My 4.5-Star Review: Changing Tides - A Refreshing Return to Lobster Bay Pull up a beach chair and dig your toes in the sand, because life continues to unfold beautifully in Lobster Bay with Meredith Summers' second installment, Changing Tides. As someone who's been thoroughly enjoying this series, I can confidently say this audiobook delivers exactly what I've come to love: a laid-back atmosphere filled with genuine friendships and a strong sense of community on the beachfront. What truly resonates with me about the "Lobster Bay" series is its focus on relatable characters navigating life's shifts in their middle 40s and 50s. Each book spotlights a different friend, offering a refreshing and relaxing escape from overly dramatic narratives. It's so easy to connect with these women as they face new challenges and embrace personal growth. In Changing Tides, the spotlight shines brightly on Jane Miller, and her story is a compelling one. Just as her friend Claire finds her footing again after a bakery near-catastrophe, Jane is faced with a significant life change: taking the reins of the beachfront bed-and-breakfast her family has owned for generations. With her mother no longer able to manage the Inn, Jane, who expected to be retired by now, finds herself in charge with a promise to uphold the family legacy – despite her limited experience in hospitality. But fear not, a touch of serendipity, and a new furry friend named Ranger, arrive just in time to help Jane navigate this unexpected journey. And let's not forget Ranger's new owner, who provides a delightful distraction for Jane, even as she'd vowed off romance. Of course, Jane isn't alone. She has the unwavering support of Claire, who is thriving with her revitalized bakery and new beau. We also get to delve deeper into Maxi's story, as she faces her own marital challenges and contemplates finally pursuing her passion for art. The way these three friends lean on each other, offering advice, comfort, and a healthy dose of laughter, is truly heartwarming. Meredith Summers continues to weave a comforting and engaging tale that reminds us that change, while sometimes daunting, can also bring unexpected joys and new beginnings. Changing Tides is a delightful listen, perfect for anyone seeking a gentle, character-driven story that celebrates friendship, community, and the ever-evolving nature of life. I highly recommend visiting Lobster Bay on the coast of Maine today to find out how these three friends navigate the changing tides in their lives.
Meredith Summers has written a great follow-up to Book #1 in Te Lobster Bay series. Jane Miller is overwhelmed with trying to take care of her mother, Addie; trying to figure out a way to pay for her mother's care at Tall Pines Memory Care Facility and keeping Tides Bed and Breakfast that has been in her family for generations. Her sister, Andie, an antiques appraiser for Christie's in New York, is frustrated with her job and her affair with her married boss. She decides to go to Lobster Bay to see her mother in the Tall Pines Memory Care Facility while she still might recognize her. Andie feels that Jane is having problems but doesn't know how to help her. She also discovers that her high school sweetheart, Shane Flannery, is back in town as well after retiring from te Navy. I love how Jane and her close friends, Claire Turner and Maxi Stevens, work so well together. They are finding solutions to help Jane with the B & B. Some of the ideas are an updated website and Jane recruits a new guy in town, Mike Henderson, to help her. With the updated website Jane can advertise beach weddings at the B & B. This series has great characters that we are learning more about in this book. I encourage all who would like a "feel good" story to read this series. I received an advance copy. This is my honest review.
This is a superbly written, heart-warming story. Set in the charming and quaint town of Lobster Bay, Maine. Changing Tides is the 2nd book in the Lobster Bay series. While it is considered a stand alone novel, it's better to read them in order to get the full back-stories on the characters. This book focuses more on Jane, and her struggles of having to put her Mother into an Elder Care facility, and then trying to figure out how to run the family's B&B. When her sister comes home for a rare visit, can the 2 sisters re-connect. With the help of her friends, old and new, and the town residents things seem to be coming together. For a few hours, I completely forgot about my problems and crazy things happening in the world right now. Thanks for the mini-vacation to the coast of Maine!! I truly enjoyed reading this book!!
Once again, we visit the quaint little town of Lobster Bay, Maine in the 2nd book of the series. This time the focus is on Jane Miller and her Bed & Breakfast, Tides, which has been in her family for generations.
Since Jane had to make the tough decision to put her mom in an assisted living home, the burden of running Tides has fallen on Jane. Unfortunately Tides is losing money. Jane promised her mom, she wouldn't sell it so she has to figure out how to save Tides.
When Jane is literally knocked over by a friendly dog, things seem to change. She also gets a little help from her friends and her estranged sister shows up.
If you love books about friends, family and community you will love this story. Read to find out if Jane is able to save Tides or does she have to sell. I am really loving this series and can't wait to read book #3.
Changing Tides is Book 2 in the Lobster Bay Book Series This is a new author that writes women's fiction that is heart warming and poignant.
It was great revisiting characters from the first book and especially more of a focus on Jane in this book. Jane has a lot to deal with . She is going through the deeply emotional process of putting her mom into an assisted living facility while still running the Bed and Breakfast. Jane's sister comes home to help. I really loved how the sisters had the chance to bond .
I love stories about sisters, and Maine! I live in Maine and the author does a fantastic job of describing the quaint town of Lobster Bay.
This is a great story and I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series.
This second book in the Lobster Bay series picks up with the three childhood friends found in Saving Sandcastles. Each of the three woman experience many of the same issues most modern women have with empty nests, husband's affairs, divorce, aging parents and starting over. Life in quiet coastal Maine lend to solutions and better lives ahead. This focuses on Jane Miller who assumes the role of inn keeper of the families inn as her mother's dementia progresses. It's a fast read and a glimpse into small town life and the beauty of the Maine coast.
I am so glad to be finished with this book. If I didn’t have to read it for book club, I would have been done after the first chapter. The author writes like her audience is 7-years old, and everything needs to be spelled out and repeated over and over. The dialogue is hooooorrible and the situations stupid and predictable. The amount of times muffins were mentioned was beyond ridiculous and every time she described one of her middle aged female characters blushing made me want to throw up. I don’t think this review even adequately covers how much I disliked this book. I am floored that there’s an entire series.
I loved the first book so much I decided to read them all! This one I borrowed from the Libby app and read it in one day! The main characters, all women friends, are so much fun. They each are going through midlife changes. Each story follows a specific characters through some of their challenges. This one follows Jane, who is running the town bed and breakfast since her mother has dementia and is now in assisted living. The inn is in trouble financially. The story follows Jane thru the trials and tribulations of attempting to keep the inn open. There is, of course, a new love interest for Jane as well!
For a beach read, book in a series, this was a 5 star. Kept me reading way into the night wanting to know what was going to happen. This series is about life in a small town on the beach in upper Maine. Claire, Jane & Maxie are best friends. In this book, Jane’s sister comes to town from NYC. Jane’s family has owned Tides B&B for generations. But it’s in financial trouble. Jane & Andie’s mother had to be put into a memory care center that’s very expensive. Will things work out for the inn? For their Mother to stay where she is? Of course there’s a possible love interest for a couple of the characters in this book & a dog too! Just made it that much better. ❤️
This book is the second book in the Lobster Bay series. It is focused on Jane and her relationships with friends, her sister, and a possible love interest. As well as Jane's business. This is a romance novel as well as a domestic fiction, according to Google. This book was really good. It was lighthearted and a very fun read. I loved the ending. And in general, I love how you can read all the books in the series as stand alones, but the books all go together really well. I did find a grammatical error though, which was the sentence, "Let's not give up. There's got be a way..." (Correct me if I'm wrong about that.) I rate this book 4/5 stars.
Changing Tides by Meredith Summers is the second in the Lobster Bay Series. This story is focused on Jane, a single widow that thought she would be retired by this time in her life, but she promised to help her mother with the running of their Inn and her mom is desperately needs her assistance. Jane has a sister that shows up for a visit and helps some, 'will she stay?' is what is on Jane's mind. This book has Claire back, which is fun for updates. Looking forward to book three and hoping it focuses on Maxi.
The second story in a series about Lobster Bay Maine. This story focuses on Jane and her family’s Tides Bed and Breakfast. Jane’s mom has dementia which Jane struggles with and realizes the time has come to move her mom to a facility. Tides has fallen into disrepair and Jane needs it to start making money to help pay for the assisted living facility for her Mom. Jane has her friends, Claire and Maxi, but she befriends Mike and her sister comes back home all to help fix up Tides.
I choose this heading often because that what the Lobster Bay series is all about. Friends helping friends and family, such as in the case with Claire, Maxi, and Jane. The town of Lobster Bay is a family town, whereas the citizens consider each other family and are willing to help each other, such as in the case with Claire and Jane. I have enjoyed reading the first two books in this series and am looking very forward to the third book in this series.
I am enjoying reading the Lobster Bay Series. These are very clean reads ( no swearing, vulgarity, or bloody crime scenes), which is perfect for me. I like the characters and the story lines, and Meredith Summers’ writing style. The books are pretty short. Each book in the series only takes a couple of hours to read. I would recommend the Lobster Bay series to anyone who wants to spend a calm afternoon reading a lovely story.
Back in Lobster Bay at the bed and breakfast inn that's been in Jane's family for generations. Her Mother isn't well so Jane is expected to run the inn with emotional support from her two friends, Claire and Maxi. Cooper the dog is a welcome addition to her walks and when his owner says his landlady doesn't want the dog there Jane offers to have him. Her sister Andie who has been in new York for years is coming to visit. Can the sisters get the bond back they used to have?
This is book 2 of 6 and another heartwarming, quick read in the Lobster Bay series. I love the 3 best friends from childhood, and how they are supportive of one another with facing problems and challenges in their lives. These books could be standalone reads, but they build upon the previous so I would suggest reading them in order. A feel good story and I recommend it as well as the series. Looking forward to # 3.
Even better than the first book in the series! I enjoyed hearing more about the characters whom we met in Lobster Bay Book One. Changing Tides mainly focuses on Jane, and we also see more about Claire and Maxi.
It's better to read Saving Sandcastles before reading Changing Tides. You could follow what's happening if you start with the second book in the series, but it's helpful to have the background information.
I loved this book. We saw two sisters united, a Mother with dementia find the perfect place to be, new friend ships developed, and maybe new relationships started. The town sounded beautiful a place you would love to visit. This is a wonderful series and I can not wait to read all the books. Come along for the ride. I think all women forty and above would love it.
Changing Tides is a heartfelt story that really shines in its portrayal of supportive friendships. What kept me engaged was the way the characters showed up for one another. There’s a genuine warmth in how Summers writes those bonds between friends who listen, challenge, comfort, and celebrate each other without judgment. It was a realistic reminder of how steady, loyal friendships can help us weather life’s storms.
It was so nice to read about all the characters from book 1! Now Jane is the protagonist. A beautiful story that moved me. Well written. I cared about Jane so much and it was so good to read her story! Summers has done it again. She has delivered another book that I couldn’t put down. Another book for my favorites list.
Loved the way you wrote about the water, sand and air at the beach .People came to life, friends and strangers cared about others.God loves all and this story has all the right things going for a Great read. Couldn't put the book down .Enjoyed all the Characters and how they are alive
Second in series. Jane has to put her mom in a nursing home where she meets the son of another resident. She is trying to make a go of her family inn, her sister finally returns home to see how her mom is doing and then decides to stay, and she begins a wedding venue at the inn. Good story about a woman remaking her life.
