I've had this book since my InterVarsity days and saw how it impacted many of my friends. I picked it off my shelf this time as we contemplated issues of ethnicity in the face of a decision whether to become foster parents. I wanted to make myself more "aware" and this book did the job. I appreciated a concise history of African Americans, and gained more resources to delve more deeply where I needed to.
