He’s in control, not me. Yet, I’m willing to submit. He’s claiming me. I know it and want it. In fact, I demand it.
Richard’s my best friend’s brother, and totally off limits. He’s under the control of his family’s ambitiously demanding patriarch but longs for independence. His own father thwarts his every move. He needs a woman to help him overtake his father’s inheritance. That’s where I come in… as his fake wife. He asks me to pretend to be married to him, make it appear like we’re a loving couple. Not a difficult ask when I catch a glimpse of his chiseled body or feel the caress of his hand on my back. The way he looks at me is blurring the lines between real and pretend. How far will we go to keep up appearances? And will my heart stay intact through all of this?
This is a stand alone. Hot and spicy. Twist and turns. Happy ending.
STORY What starts out seeming to be a best friend’s brother romance turns into a political/revenge romance. Although it’s not poorly written, I did not connect with the characters or feel any emotions while listening to this audiobook. I am glad Borne did not add unnecessary fluff or filler, yet several aspects of the storyline felt rushed. The characters were also a bit flat and might have been more entertaining if they had been better developed.
PERFORMANCE I listened to the audiobook narrated by Rodney Falcon. Although I would have preferred that a female narrator read for the female characters, Falcon did a great job narrating the entire audiobookaside. Aside from mispronouncing Catsup (it’s pronounced CATCH-UP, same as ketchup), contemplative and petit fours, his performance was flawless. I loved the way he altered his voice to be more feminine while speaking as the female characters. My only complaint is that he didn’t do the same while reading non-dialogue portions for the females. Because this story is written in first person perspective, occasionally it was confusing to listen to a strong, male voice describe how how Richard made love to her or her wedding ring!!
Wow. Really enjoyed Richard & Jasmine's story. Lots of twists & turns... Keeps you on the edge of your seat. And another new author for me. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a free copy of the book via booksprout.
Fake for Him By: Caleb Borne It Started As A Pretense, But SomeWhere, SomeHow... "Fake for Him" Became The Real DEAL! It's the Opportunity of the LifeTime... But First She'll have to get "Fake for Him!" of course that's NOT Sooo Easy... Cuz His touch is Magical & is Turn'n Her into Goo! Plus, there's lots of Drama & Twists, To turn "Fake for Him" into Reality! Sooo, sooner rather than LATER, She's NOT gonna "Fake for Him," but Fall All IN! I was granted, via B00|{$P®0UT, an ARC of Caleb Borne's "Fake for Him." I recommend this book to others based upon its own recommendations. This is my first book by Caleb Borne and my first experience with Rodney Falcon as a narrator.
Richard Westerfield is the son of the former governor of Illinois and Jasmine Skye is his younger sister's best friend. Rich is trying to get out from his overbearing and criminal father's control while Jasmine is fresh out of college trying to find her way in the world. This story is a unique and intriguing mix of best friend's bother (or little sister's best friend), Cinderella, & fake-marriage tropes. Sometimes it's executed really well, other times the inconsistencies kept me from being truly invested. I had a huge issue with the prologue, a major plot inconsistency, the abrupt ending (see spoilers at the end), but overall I'd give it 3 stars.
Rodney Falcon's narration was excellent. At times, it's possible he's the reason I didn't DNF. While not a complaint about him specifically, I think that this would have been better with dual narrators. Since chapters are first person POV and there was no change in Falcon's voice when a chapter was from Jas's POV, sometimes I would get turned around thinking it was Rich's POV. To be clear, Falcon did give all the character *dialogue* unique voices/inflections/genders, but narrating the regular text was all in his normal, albeit sexy, voice. None of this would make me hesitate listening to him in the future. Solid 4 stars.

3.5 Stars The Author definitely got the Illinois political scene 100% correct! That part was almost scary accurate! This was a good read with great characters....even the "bad" guys were written well. I had 2 issues... First was the epilogue. I just didn't like it much (hence the 1/2 off). There was just something about it that felt off compared to the rest of the story. Not sure if it was the setting, the wording, or the fact that Jas was now a ghost of a person. Yes, they lost a child in a horrific way, but they had another daughter whom they shuttled off to the Nanny to go and have sex and play the piano. I don't know, I just know I didn't like it. Second as the wording in the beginning..."in her 12th year". Was that meaning her 12th year as in age or her 12th year as in Girl Scouts (nice job researching Camp Tapawingo and horse camp)? I assumed he meant in GS as that would put her in 11th grade and an Ambassador if she started as a Daisy in Kindergarten. Otherwise, an 18 yr old guy shaking his penis at a 12 yr old girl is just ick!

This novel confused me. Firstly the title was wrong. There was nothing fake in the entire novel. H was always honest with h. He never told her to ”pretend to be married to him”. H actually proposed and said they'll see where it goes and how it'll work, just like we do in any normal marriage, if things don't work out people separate. He never lied or misled her. Never cheated ( great guy here), respected her and even defended her. See nothing fake It started out great but the last chapter really disappointed me. Especially the epilogue. Two strong ,determined people who wanted to make a difference at the end ran away from all the hardships and difficulties to lead a peaceful life. Just like that. It didn't feel like them. After coming to know them from the entire novel, you'd know that they'd stay and fight till the end, no matter the consequences. That's the reason for low rating. Otherwise a great novel.
The story of Jasmine and Richard held med captive. It is a beautifull love story, but with so many twists and turns you do not really see how it is connected untill the end. It is a powerfull crime and mystery story. I fell in love with the caracters, Iaught, got frustrated and a few tears fell down. I will absolutely recommend this book and look for others from this author!

Disappointing for me but may be fantastic for others
Fake for Him is the first book I have ready by Caleb Borne. As this is a new to me author I was not sure what to expect. But I decided to pick it up because the book description looked like it could be an interesting read. It is the story of Jasmine "Jas" Skey and Richard Westerfield Jr., you just got to love the Junior thing as that sets up his father perfectly right from the start. I thought this book had a solid story-line with a number of different things happening at the same time. The characters started out good characters but for me Jas just deviated a hard left into territory that she would never have gone, given how her character was initially written. Then add in a number of detail inconsistencies that drove me crazy and had me flipping back to confirm what I thought I had remembered. But then the ending was just not there for me at all and I was disappointed. But I did like the writing style of the author and based on reviews for previous books I will be trying this author again. This is only my opinion so I recognize that other readers will love this book so you need to make you own mind up if you decide to pick it up.
AMAZING! A fantastic, well written read. An intense storyline that holds your attention as you get caught up in the fierce twists and hot chemistry. Plenty of excitement and emotionally heartfelt. A thrilling must read.

I'm not a huge fan of the fake fiance/girlfriend books. However I really enjoyed this book. Keeps you entertained from the beginning. I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves a good romance.

I finally got to finish the this book. I really liked the plot. But I didn't like the epilogue. It just rushed the ending. It felt like part of their story was missing.
This storyline was thrilling. I loved the twists and turns of this book. The characters were well written and entertaining. A fantastic performance from Rodney.
-Jas grows up not only having no money but also without her family's support. Growing up she befriends Erin without knowing that she is Chicago's Governor (at the time) daughter and their friendship lasts all the way to college.
-At a graduation party Jas hits it off with Erin's big bother Richard (Rich), and he let's her know on the family secret. Rich, trusting his insticts, wants to have Jas close to him and offers her a job as his PA setting her up right away.
-It is after she is alone in her new apartment that Jas meets Noah and is warned about the shady dealings of Rich's father and makes her doubt Rich's intentions while also seeing Noah's thrist for revenge.
-Rich has had it with his father and makes a proposition to Jas in order to help him bring his father down and end his reign of corruption and terror.
**Spoiler**
I think the story plot was good, it just that for me the writting was all over the place, there were too many continuity errors for my taste.
-Jas is accused of being a floozy by Rich's father on her first day at work, and she stands up to him. But then, on that same day, she acts like a complete floozy with Rich. What gives?
-When Noah confronts Jas, he confess that he lives accross the street from her, but somehow ends up getting killed in a motorcycle accident right after seeing her...ok, i guess? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-Not only that, but when Rich looks for Noah, he finds he is living on the poor side of Chicago, and Erin being the loving half-sister that wants all the family together is ok with that?
-It was establish that Jas saw a news headline where Noah dies but she is still afraid of him and how he will react if she tells Rich about their conversation...I don't get it.
-Jas is all of a sudden guarded towards Rich, but is a total bi..ch to Erin believing that she only got the job offer so that she can hook up with Rich and is being all paranoid with her. Bipolar much?
-Don't get the disdain from Rich and Erin's father towards Jas...
-For someone that likes honesty, Jas herself is not so honest regarding the conversation and second thoughts she has because of Noah, even when asked directly. And not only that but still says nothing when Rich is all shocked after knowing his half-brother is dead.
-Jas knows that she does not come from money, but she nevertheless knows her worth and where she stands. But along the story you start seeing shades of her that are not that of the "strong, independent woman" that she portraits and is being all paranoid, insecure and with low self-esteem.
-Rich is smitten by Jas when he reconnects with her at his sister's graduation and tries to keep her close to him. He cares for her and wants to help her out. He gives her her space and does not pushes her, if all he is a proper gentleman despite his father.

This book was really great. It was exciting and action packed. Family drama like you wouldn't believe. Jasmine was bestfriends with Richard's sister and grew to have feelings for him. Richard needed a fake wife and he knew what he was doing when he put Jasmine in the middle of it all, but she welcomed it anyway out of love. She wasn't the type that took direction well. He did what he could to protect her and certain people got what they deserved. This was a new author to me but after reading this book I look forward to exploring more of his work.
This is so much more than what I thought it would be. A suspenseful romance, dirty business, family issues and political aspirations. At first I wasn’t too impressed. Then I just realized they were setting up the story. Because really....the good stuff comes later! Don’t listen to the synopsis. That just gives a brief and I mean brief sample of what the book is about. There is so much more!!
This story impressed me! The author weaves each character and drew me along. I like multiple characters but for different reasons. Some are fun others are smart and devious and some are sexy as well. I would hate to belong to this family since I would always be checking my back.
This is a first time author for me. I enjoyed this immensely and will keep an eye out for others. I did listen to this on audio and as always Rodney Falcon nailed it!

Fake for Him By: Caleb Borne Narrated by: Rodney Falcon
This is my first book by Caleb Borne and consider me wowed, I enjoyed his writing style and the interesting storylines and characters he created. The book is well plotted and grabbed my attention right from the start and held it to the very end. Jasmine meets Erin at girl scout camp, Erin was being picked on because she is the Governor’s daughter, Jasmine stands by her and they became best friends. Then she meets her older brother Richard, he is off limits but she feels an attraction to him. After Jasmine and Erin’s college graduation Richard offers Jasmine a job at his fathers firm, she decides to take him up on his offer. We get to see how much of an evil and controlling bastard his father really is as well as his dirty dealings. Richard had enough of his fathers foul treatment and decides to do something about it. He asks Jasmine to stand by his side and become his girlfriend, then wife. I love how everything plays out in this book, there is never a dull moment, there is plenty of drama, angst, twists, some thrilling suspense brings you to edge of your seat and a build up to a loving romance. Thank you Caleb Borne for this terrific story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Rodney Falcon is a wonderful narrator and voice artist. He brings these characters to life, give them their voices and personality. You can hear how much heart he puts into his performance and is amazing at projecting the emotions of the characters and the drama of the story into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another terrific listen🎧
This book is amazing and the ending left me speechless! Full of scheming, betrayal, revenge and heartache, it is a definite must read! Jasmine meets Erin Westerfield when they are 12 years old and go to Girl Scout camp together. Erin is the daughter of a Governor and is picked on by the other girls. Jasmine takes Erin under her wing and the two are inseperable from that point on! When they have to leave camp early due to the death of the woman in charge, Jasmine, having no place to go, goes home with Erin and runs into her brother Rich in a very embarrasing situation. Fast forward to their college graduation and Rich and Jasmine meet again and he is amazed at the woman she has become. He offers her a job as his assistant and the sparks start flying from there! But there is trouble ahead and as the story unravels, so do the lives of the Westerfield family. Rich is determined to uncover all of his father's bad behaviors over the years. He even gets some help from an unlikely source, a half brother Noah, whom his father looks down on as the black sheep of the family. Rich and Jas are planning to marry and everything is wonderful when they return and he is running for the Senate. Their happiness isn't to last though when Jas is involved in an accident that changes everything.

This book had me at the snake tattoo in the prologue! Oh. My. Word…Plus power and money can corrupt. With enough steam to keep my naughty satisfied and substantial amounts of mystery with intrigue, this book has had me mesmorized. Will the good guys get their HEA and the bad guys get the justice they deserve? Working-class-child Jasmine wins a trip to Girl Scout camp where she meets Erin, the Governor’s daughter. They hit it off immediately and become BFFs for life, even attending the same college and rooming together for four years. Jas has enjoyed going to Erin’s “home” and on one occasion “meets” Erin’s older brother, Richard, while she’s hiding in a bathroom linen closet (remember the snake tattoo?). Wow, what a scene! Richard is arrogant, rich and unbelievably attracted to Jas at his sister’s graduation party. The bastard brother Noah is attracted too, but Rich doesn’t lose out to anybody. The entanglement of these four along with the cruel elder Richard Westerfield, the Governor is at times alarming, scary and infuriating. There are twists and turns with an incredible, poignant, bordering on melancholic ending. This ending will haunt me for a long while. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Booksprout and recommend it to readers who like intrigue and unexpected twisty turns with their romance.
ONE EXPLOSIVE ADVENTURE!!! Jaw dropping! Caleb brought out the big guns with this no holds barred thrilling storyline and gripping plot rocks this from start to finish. A throng of startling circumstances and unforeseen events blast those churning emotions forward in this thrilling storyline and gripping plot. Struggling through all the trials and tribulations trying to stay one step ahead and running out of time. Twists and turns abound with a few glitches that propel this bad boy to life flawlessly. One non-stop action packed, fast paced, page flipping delight that keeps you riveted on a razors edge. Twixt and twined and stretched to unbelievable links until you feel everything the characters feel. The characters chemistry sizzles from the pages and suck you in so deeply until you feel the heat and electricity thrumming through your veins. The characters are genuine, tangible and realistic with such depth and qualities that blend and flow fluidly. The scenes are so vividly detailed and descriptive its paints a fantastic backdrop. Remarkable job Caleb, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
Caleb Borne has written a book that will pull you in from the first page. Jasmine and Erin have been friends for a long time and roommates from the first day of college and it is now graduation time. Erin's mom is having a party for Erin and Jasmine is there and she meets Richard again. She and Richard start talking and the find that they get along well together so Richard offers Jasmine a job working with him as his PA. She has reservtion about the job since she knows nothing about law and Richard tells her, she just needs to keep him straight as far as work goes. She accepts the job and Richard's father find out and has a fit. Richard knows that his father has done wrong in the past and has not paid for those mistakes. Richard is not a fan of his father and wants to bring him down and he ask Jasmine to help him. Will Jasmine and Richard realize that they are meant to be together or will they go their separate ways? Can Richard keep Jasmine safe while he get the information he needs to take his father down? To get the answers you will need to read the book, it is worth the read.

It seems that there a lot of “Faking it” romance stories being released at the moment and I have to say this one of the better ones. In this story we meet Jasmine who is working class and Richard who is from a rich family. When Richard asks Jasmine to be his fake wife she accepts and then they start to realize that they have quite a lot of chemistry between them. There is a lot of social class disdain from Richard’s family, but for the most part Jasmine is a strong character and very likable. There is obviously some deceit in the plot, you can tell that just by the title of the book. The twists and turns and the author’s writing style meant that the story was interesting and engaging, the characters seemed to jump off the page. I’m looking forward to the next installment in this series. This is an enjoyable and an easy to follow read, I’d encourage those readers who enjoy romance stories to pick this one up.

The book started off well. I liked the aspects involving Richard and his family, and the pace was decent. I really didn't like Jas as the book went one -- her character turned into a piece to be maneuvered and manipulated; she really didn't do much to advance the action. I mean, her big thing was learning to spend money like a rich woman! As a secondary character, Erin did not fill me with confidence. Towards the end of the book she is slated to assume a huge amount of responsibility; based on what we learn about her, I have zero confidence in her abilities (I don't care how good an actress another character claims her to be!). Finally, I intensely disliked the epilogue. I get what the author was trying to evoke; however, the colonial overtones -- and Jas' implicit self-absorption-- made it unpalatable.

Fake for Him By: Caleb Borne Narrated by: Rodney Falcon
*Audible Review* This book is incredible!! This is my first book by Caleb Borne and I cannot wait to read more, I am a new fan! From the opening page to the final word this is a book I couldn't put down! Erin and Jasmine have been friends for a very long time and roommates at college. Richard is Erin's brother, that is how Jas knows him, and how she becomes his fake fiance. This story has smooth writing, well written dialogue, a clever storyline, and makes Fake For Him a book you must read by an author you can't help but love! To say I loved and thoroughly enjoyed it is a huge understatement!
The narration by Rodney Falcon was firt-rate!!! His performance and voice kept me fascinated! Any book narrated by Rodney Falcon will be an automatic dowload for me!!!!

Fake for Him by Caleb Borne follows Jasmine who hasn’t had the closest family life. She did hit it off with the Governor’s daughter (Erin) at camp one year and the two became best friends, even rooming together in college.
Erin’s brother, Richard is the family’s lawyer. He’s been in the military and actually seems to have values (unlike his father). He hires Jasmine fresh out of college to be his PA and it doesn’t take long for things to get a bit more physical.
The reader gets to hop into the story while they navigate all the obstacles in their way. There are plot twists you won’t expect. This was a really entertaining read. The characters are well developed and the side characters bring so much extra life as well.
I received an advanced copy of this book and I am leaving a voluntary honest review.
When you’re rich beyond rich you think you can get away with anything. All you have to do is threaten them or pay them off. Rich was born with a silver spoon in his mouth but didn’t have it easy. His dad was a nasty nasty man that got whatever he wanted. Rich trying to break away from it and Jas his sister’s best friend was poor. The two have an attraction and chemistry like no other. As they go through their relationship they encounter nothing but distaste and lash out from Rich’s father. They try not to let it break them apart....will it work? The characters were great, suspense, betrayal and lots of secrets to come out. I enjoyed the book all except the epilogue. In my opinion could have given more to the end of the book.

This is a book that had everything There was family drama suspense and underlying it a wonderful love story. Just be aware that once you start it you won't want to put it down and could be like me reading until the early hours of the morning
Richard Westerfield is not only the son of a former governor he is also a ex military and the sister of Jasmines best friend Erin They first met when they where twelve but now when they meet again after the girls leave college he offers her a job as his PA He is trying to bring his father to hand for all the underhand deals he did as governor but his father is determined to control him So Rich asks Jas to pretend to be his fiance even has they fall in live danger circles them Please be prepared not everything will work out roses for this struggling couple
One of the best books I have read this year. by sewsummore
She was his sister's best friend, a woman that would come to mean his everything. Rich had led an entitled life, the former Governor's son, a war hero and the man who would help bring his father down. This was a book that was jam packed full of mystery, of revenge and lies and a love affair between a man who had everything money could buy and a woman who loved him for himself. This book had me captivated from the beginning, the twists I never saw coming and the final act of revenge that almost lost him everything. One of the best books I have read this year.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed this book
This book has so many facets to it I had to stay on my toes to keep track of what the story line was. I’ll be honest, I found it to be a bit wordy in the beginning. Then it gets very interesting. Jaz and Richard are re-introduced as adults (they had been around each other during childhood) and the hint of a further ‘” something” is in the air. And what a “something” it turns into! WOW. What a roller coaster ride this story is. The story line is full of intrigue, twists and turns, angst, love, heat, good guys/bad guys, and HEA. What more can you ask for from a good read? Not much in my opinion. This book very much hit’s it’s mark! It is worth the time. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
Like I typed in the review title, the book is not something I expect to read. Warning to all who hope it will end with the HEA, it's not what you want to read. Even if the plot is intrigued and interesting, I don't feel any connection and chemistry between Jas and Rich at all. The author seems to write Rich as a hero but for me, he is a pawn in his father and brother's game just as Jas. And the Epilogue is so dull I feel depressed. But if the author want us to feel that way, I think he or she is success though.
