Sometimes the hardest thing to protect those you love from is yourself.
Walker and Dane are a team. Best friends doesn’t even begin to cover what they are to each other. Nothing can break the bond they forged during their tumultuous teenaged years or strengthened during their time in the military.
Except Joy. Dane’s first crush and Walker’s step sister, Joy has always had the power to throw a wrench in their lives even if she never realized her own allure.
So when she shows up at Hot Rods motorcycle shop, a newborn in her arms, nine months after they slipped and slept with her before leaving town to prevent another mistake… They know life is about to change for whichever of them is the father of her baby as well as the man who’s not as lucky.
Especially when they realize her father isn’t about to let her live the life she wants without a fight. Because no matter their own misgivings, they’d never let anything happen to the woman they’ve both loved for more than a decade. After all, they left her to protect her…even if it was from themselves.
This is a standalone book in the Hot Rides series and includes an HEA with no cheating. The series is part of the greater universe where both the Powertools and Hot Rods books are also set, so you can visit with many of your previous favorite characters and see what they’re up to now!

If you know me, you know I especially love three romance book tropes: second-chance romance, ménage and falling for the best-friend’s little sister. And when the three combine in one book, I am in heaven.
And that’s where I stayed while devouring Joy Ride. I absolutely loved the romance between Joy, Walker, and Dane. Their dynamic is powerful, loyal, loving, intense and sexy AF. I wanted to know each of them as individuals and as they embarked on their polyamorous relationship.
Dane and Walker have been best friend’s since they were kids. Joy’s mother married Walker’s MC outlaw father when they were in their early teens. And while Dane and Walker managed to escape the clutches of the MC, Joy wasn’t so lucky.
Until she finally found out where Walker and Dane lived and worked. And showed up on their doorstep one day, tired, hungry, scared and holding a perfect, gorgeous newborn baby girl in her arms.
The relationship between these three has never been simple or easy. And it wasn’t going to start now. However, I loved how Dane and Joy somehow got Walker to see that they were all better off together—safer, loved and deserving of happiness.
Add in the wonderful Hot Rods, Hot Rides and Powertools, and Joy, Walker, Dane and the baby now know unconditional love and protection. And finally get their HEA.
I can’t wait for the next one—Seven, Levi, and Ransom’s story in Rough Ride. Is it January yet? ~ Missy, 5 stars
Okay. So I thought Wren, Jordan and Kason’s story was intense ~ Well, the history between Wren and Jordan was, but you get what I mean, but Walker, Dean and Joy’s history far surpasses theirs in the intensity and heart breaking department. I shouldn’t, and normally don’t, compare, but even I wasn’t prepared for all that these three have been through. The emotional landmines in this one were many, but so were the sweet, smexy, swoon worthy and ovary exploding moments so at least things balanced out in the end.
Walker, Dane and Joy. I loved these three. They are, at their very core’s good, honorable and loving people who have been trying to survive. They’ve definitely endured, but living isn’t something they’ve been doing and after finding out about all they’ve been through, let’s just say my heart hurt for them all. And as for their journey. The frustration level rose to dangerous levels with these three, and I have to make a general thing because I don’t want to go all verbal vomity ranty and ruin it for all, but they had a lot of baggage to work through. For the most part, I saw and understood all sides, but there came that moment where I wanted to pull out a 2x4 and take it one particular person’s head. But, I loved how ~ with the help of the Hot Rides crew ~ they figured things out and got the HEA they were always meant to have.
None of these books are without intense moments, but this one started out with a bang and didn’t let up until the end. There are triggers, so reader beware. But with all the chaos, I loved watching the Hot Ride family come together and simply be there for Walker, Dane and Joy in whatever capacity was needed at the time. And as for what’s coming up next...I cannot wait to get my hands on Sevan’s book because that one will definitely be explosive!

Holy smokes! Joy Ride was one steamy, intense and emotionally charged story that i did not want to end. Jayne Rylon sure knows how to turn up the heat and the heart pumping action. I loved Dane, Walker and Joy together and their shared past only cemented the bond between all three of them as they try to work on having a future together with their baby. I loved that we got to see more of the Hot Rods throughout this book and the friendship that developed between Joy and the Hot Rod women. Another fantastic story in this series and i cannot wait to read more.
What an emotional roller coaster this book turned out to be. I was quickly drawn into the story and kept turning the pages to see what would happen next. The author had me captivated by these characters and all they had been through. This book is easily read as a standalone so if the previous books haven't been read there is no worry of being lost. This is a great book and a great series.
Another masterful story filled with heartwrenching love and hard choices and bad decisions. In the end love truly did win out though thankfully. Can't wait for the next one!
I loved the 3somes in this book! m so glad things wored out, for Joy, and her 2 guys. Am waiting for the next one, after book 2 with Sevan and her 2 guys. So hot, when they were being intimate, made me wet. Lol I wanted to feel Joy's and Sevan's guys lips on mine...MMMM Cant wait for the 3rd book.
More frustrating than anything. Not as much spice as you’d think. Or hope for. Joy is daughter of MC group. Walker is her step brother. So he thinks he shouldn’t think of her that way. Even though their parents didn’t marry until he was 17! And Dain. Walkers bf. Who crushes on Joy. These people needed to get out of their own way. Annoying with minimal spice
I didn't really think I would like this one as I didn't feel all that connected too the characters as they are new. Nope I was pulled into this story just like the rest.
Very well written and love the characters, if you haven't read the powertools series I would recommended those first, then hot rods as they all join together like one big book and give you an insight to all the characters.
A bit too angsty for me...sex scenes were hot but some of the things the characters say during those scenes where corny and felt forced. Like whole conversations don't need to occur during these scenes.
Enjoyed the story lines.Rylon always seems to be able to make the story so believable. I so enjoy the building of one series from the previous one and the flow from one story to the next.
Our series about a motorcycle shop now includes an MC! I dig it. Our latest matchup has some unresolved business with the Wildfire OMG and to honest that wasn’t even the most dangerous part of the book. Their feelings for each other and what has been brewing all along is what makes this story sensational. And the baby. More babies for the Hot Ride crew!
They’re building up to the next book which will be more of a thriller I’m sure and we will get to revisit a few of the other characters in the storyline. I’m sure it will be way exciting and nerve-racking.
* Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 * Audiobook Narrators: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ * Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 * No "3rd act breakup" that I hate so much! * I would recommend this book.
This is an enjoyable story about a motorcycle club formed when people were together from different circumstances and they became family. The MMCs left the original MC they grew up around due to troublesome activities, but that also meant that they left the MFC behind. This destroyed all of them and they all tried to move past it, but the feelings never went away. She shows up at their new club with a big surprise, and they all have to work through their feeings for each other that never went away! There is a little angst as they struggle coming to terms with their MMF relationship at times, but it all works out in the end!
* The couples in the book are all MMF which is a fun twist. I didn't read the earlier books and I wasn't lost, but it might be more fun if you want to know more about the side characters in the story.
Jayne has absolutely done it again with 'Joy Ride'! My heart was not in any shape or form ready for the emotional rollercoaster that I thoroughly enjoyed as I got to fall in love with Joy, Walker, and Dane. The heck of a journey that they've all gone on, singularly and collectively is awe inspiring. Dane and Walker have just started finding their feet, seeing how they fit into their new home when their past strolls into the room, baby in arms, and everything changes. Memories flood them all as silence stretches for what seems an age, time stopping as they each look at each other, the pain, the hunger, and no matter how much they hide it, the love, shining through. Joy just needs her freedom, and more than anything she needs the best possible future for her daughter Arden, which means staying as far away from her step family and the OMC their a part of, and reuniting her daughter with her fathers, even though tenuous links with the OMC exist there. Walker wants what is best for Dane and Joy, and is terrified to allow himself to connect with Arden. Dane is all dried up, all out of love to give, solely able to focus on Walker, Joy, and Arden, though he likely won't be able to stand up if he gets kicked down again. Jayne, you wrecked me! The sexual tension, the plot, the history, the memory, all of it overwhelmed me in the best possible way! The weight of responsibility on Walker's shoulders, Dane's desire to simply want to be there for the people he loves the most, and Joy, who is so strong and yet still building confidence since life keeps on trying to knock her down. I adored this story, and I cannot wait for the next one! The little snippet has me so intrigued, and I cannot wait to see what comes next! Everyone, read this book; it's a beautiful story of love, acceptance, and how being with the right people, that simply makes it possible to bear anything! Enjoy!
Dane, Joy and Walker’s lives have been interconnected for quite some time. Walker is the son of the head of an MC. Dane is Walker‘s best friend and the two of them have been through thick and thin together. Joy was brought into the MC life via her mother’s marriage to Walker’s father. Being in the world of an MC you can only imagine what what they have seen and experienced.
Joy, Walker and Dane started the motions of things bigger than them all years ago. Love is something that if you try to understand it just confuses yourself more. Walker is all alpha, dominant and hard, yet questions if they way he loves is right. Joy has the strength of ten men and the scars to prove it. Joy wants to be free and she’s determined to take her freedom. Dane is almost broke, emotionally. The things he wants are within arm reach and can’t quite have them. Walker and Dane walk away from a life and Joy thinking its the best move. However starting over is not starting over without her.
Joy Ride is deep, touching on the darker side, highly emotional and possibly a bit taboo. Joy, Dane and Walker each hit me emotionally in a different way. Have to admit I was not ready for that. There’s some pretty got wrenching moments done in the form of flashback that truly make the reader feel what the character is going through. Joy Ride is a darker and complex story that has quite a few jaw-dropping moments. The intimacy between Joy, Walker and Dane is builds throughout the story creating an ironclad bond that takes their relationship to a completely different level. They have their ups and downs but in the end they find their way.
We met best friends, Walker and Dane in book 3, Hard Ride, but Joy Ride stands alone pretty well. You'll miss a lot of hot stories though, if you don't read the first 3 books.
I think I've seen someone else call Jayne Rylon the "queen of ménage" romance and I can't disagree with that. I enjoy all types of ménage stories but MMF ones are among my favorites and she writes great ones.
The blurb tells you all you need to know about the story. The emotions run high in all three of the MCs (main characters). Walker and Dane are much more than just best friends. When the woman they both love, Joy, shows up carrying a baby they are speechless.
Joy doesn't understand why Walker and Dane walked out and left her after the explosive night the three of them had together. She had to get away from her evil stepfather and when she had the chance to slip away, she came looking for them.
This book is packed with lots of emotion. Walker and Dane both feel they've let Joy down in the past and aren't good enough for her. They enjoy the relationship they have with each other but know that Joy is the missing link between them.
Joy Ride is really hot, just like the others in this series and it's a complete story with Walker, Dane and Joy getting their HEA. The last couple of chapters help set up the next book in the series, Rough Ride, and I can't wait to read it.
An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
Hard Ride is the fourth book in the series Powertools: Hot Rides. This story features Joy, Walker, and Dane. We met Walker and Dane is the previous book, so I couldn’t wait for their story!
Joy needed to get away from a dangerous situation, so she showed up at Hot Rides with her baby, Arden, in her arms. Joy is in love with Walker and Dane, but they previously walked away from her, due to a related dangerous situation. They all have a shared history, but Joy is unsure of her welcome - neither man knew she was pregnant.
Walker and Dane have just started a new life and job with Hot Rides, but their old life resurfaces when Joy and Arden show up. Walker and Dane are in love with Joy, and each other, but they first have to take care of the threat to their future happiness. They also need to find a way for the three of them and their daughter to move forward as a family.
I have not read the previously published Powertools and Hot Rods series, but as some of those characters were introduced in this story, I didn’t feel lost. We also get to visit with the characters from the previous books in this series.
I enjoyed every moment I spent reading this story! The scenes between Joy, Walker, and Dane were hot, emotional, and sometimes painful. This book has everything: love, romance, angst, laughter, pain, tears, and even a villain on the way to a HEA. I cannot wait for the next book in the series!!
Joy Ride is the fourth book in the Hot Rides series. This can be read as a stand-alone book, but the men are introduced in book three when they join the Hot Rides team.
Walker and Dean have been best friends forever. Even as adults, they share everything, including a woman in their bed. They grew up in a motorcycle club but as adults, wanted a different life, even though Walker's Dad was the MC president and join the military. Walker's Dad is married to Joy's Mom. Both Walker and Dean have long term feelings for Joy. They have avoided acting on those feelings because of the trouble it would cause in the MC club, especially for Joy. They give into temptation with her enthusiastic consent and have one wild night together. Then the men leave the next day thinking they are protecting Joy. She is crushed, doesn't understand and soon finds out she is pregnant. Now she is really in trouble with no support in sight.
Nine months later, Joy manages to escape the MC club with her baby. She shows up at the Hot Rides garage looking for Walker and Dane. The men don't know who her baby daddy is but they both want to have that reason to be with Joy and the baby. They have a lot of past to work through on the road to their happily ever after. Fortunately, the Hot Rides (and Hot Rods) crew is available, with advice learned the hard way, to help all three of them out.
Walker and Dane can see that a menage relationship works. The proof is all around them but do they have the courage to go after who they want? Joy wants Walker and Dane but she doesn't trust them. So when their past rears its ugly head will Walker and Dane protect Joy plus one?
I really enjoyed getting to know Walker and Dane better in Joy Ride by Jayne Rylon. That is not to say I didn't want to knock them both upside the head. They were stuck in the past and unable to see the present and the possibilities of a future. Walker was so sure Dane and Joy would be better without him. Dane wanted Walker to see to all his needs. And Joy just wanted Walker and Dane to be there. I love that their friends were determined to show them the possibilities. They would and could help them survive the evil that is Walker's father. But first they must trust themselves so that they could trust their friends. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Walker, Dane and Joy navigate a future together. I love that Ms. Rylon did not make it in any way easy. Walker, Dane and Joy need to learn trust and communication. Failure would not be an option if they wanted it all. And I loved seeing them fight to have it.

Joy Ride is the fourth book in the Hot Rides series written by author Jayne Rylon. This story is set within the Powertools and Hot Rods world but can be read as a standalone romance. Some of the characters from her other books appear, but not in a way that’s confusing to those that haven’t read them. Each book in this series focuses on a different couple, and this one tells Joy, Walker, and Dane’s story.
Walker’s father, Angus, is the president of the Wildfire, an outlaw motorcycle club. He married Joy’s mom when Walker and Joy were roughly 17 years old. Even though Joy is technically Walker’s stepsister, he’s really attracted to her. Walker’s best friend, Dane, also has feelings for Joy. The three of them have one night together before Walker and Dane leave the MC. So, when Joy needs help, she finds them working with the Hot Rides. Walker and Dane haven’t forgotten Joy, and they’re shocked when she walks in with a baby. But who is the father?
Another fabulous story! I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!
Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Once Joy learned of her pregnancy, she fled the only place she knew of as home or to her a place of mistakes. Hiding from her step father and his right hand man Clive. As she grow a little relaxed she was found only to have to run all over again to the two men who hurt and abondaned her. Walker would do anything to keep Dane and Joy safe even if that meant only being in the shadows of their love. Feeling the weight of the world pushing down on him. Turning to the mix match family he and Dane have around them for help. Dane loved both his best friend and the woman they once shared, but he couldn't see them working unless they all come to the same page. can the three forgive the sins of past mistake because there was many to go around, not just on one person to the future that could be glorious if given a chance. This was a great read, I really oved this one. It's filled to the brim with drama, mistrust and steamy goodness.
One of the things I love about these series is how people in the established relationships mentor the newbies in their relationships. That kind of caring is key for them, especially since (like in this story) many of them have poor parent examples. In "Joy Ride", Joy is a fairly clueless mom with good intentions who get the positive support she needs in that role from the women who are members of the Hot Rides/Rods family. Walker and Dane get guidance from the men. That works really well in these series, and keeps some of our favorite characters from the previous books around so we can see how their lives continue to develop.
Joy, Walker and Dane have had a hard road. Growing up in a MC environment and not learning how to communicate well had made life even more difficult for them. I love that Walker and Dane's relationship keeps them together, and how Joy completes them. Sexy times are sometimes pretty emotional, and I love how bossy Walker is! Arden is a cute baby bonus. We'll see how the series continues to develop!
Secret baby alert!!! This is not a drill, this is a secret baby alarm!!! One of my most favourite tropes in the whole world, with a ménage, slay me now *faints*
Joy, Dane, and Walker aren’t really big on expressing themselves clearly. Dane is who I liked the most, and even as the most submissive of the trio, he at least had his head on straight and was emotionally aware. Walker is an idiot, a bonafide, back and forth, can’t make up my mind, boo hoo, idiot. His redeeming quality is you get it, why he is the way he is, but you still want to slap, which, Dane actually does at one point, Go Dane! Joy is doing the best she can, given her history with them both, and her present. She is really trying, but the uncertainty from Walker, affects both her and Dane, and can’t allow them to move forward
I love this world, I liked these characters, and this story had a lot of emotion and sparks in it, along with some smoking shower, bath, and bedroom scenes
Joy Ride is yet another great romance from the incredibly talented Jayne Rylon. If you are looking for a ménage love story with intense characters, incredibly HOT sex, and a decent bit of angst, this book, hell the entire Hot Rides series is for you! Ms. Rylon gives us a solid heart stopping romance every single time.
The connection Joy, Dane and Walker had was intense, passionate, and full of fireworks. This was a perfect combination that made this a truly beautiful love story, with a dash of multiple alpha males and filthy talk on the side. I loved revisiting the characters from the previous Powertools stories and Joy, Dane, Walker and baby Arden are a fabulous addition to the Powertools family.
Jayne Rylon gives us a wonderful strong heroine who can more than hold her own against the two headstrong alpha males and the introduction of a new character towards the end of the story leaves you eagerly anticipating the next Hot Rides installment – Rough Ride.
From the first few lines, this story just grabs you, you want to continue reading until you’ve turned the last page. The Hot Rides characters and their storylines just keep getting better and better and boy do they also pull at your heartstrings.
Walker, Dane and Joy have known each other for some time and began to have feelings for each other, one night they give in to passion. For reasons, they take off the next day. Fast forward nine months and she walks back into their lives with a surprise that will rock their world.
I felt so much for these characters, each was wanting the best for the other even if it meant leaving them behind. There was so much love but they didn’t know how to express it. The one way they could was with their bodies, Jayne Rylon, writes some wickedly hot sexy scenes. And one of my favorite parts is getting to catch up with the other characters from the Hot Rods and Powertools.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
LOVE this group of characters! Powertools, Hot Rods and Hot Rides all together forming their own unique, large close knit family is amazing! Always meeting new additions to the group, with new challenges, but keeping up with the old ones at the same time is the best. Oh, and don't forget meeting new friends, and possible family members, as well as keeping the reader hooked for the next story. Jayne Rylon does such a great job of this!
Even though most of the plot lines are similar in some ways, I am always waiting to get my hands on the newest book in the series. Each character has a different background, and a different story to get through before settling into the Hot Rides family permanently. Walker, Dane and Joy were no different.
Great book. Finished in 2 days, couldn't put it down.
Just when I thought this series couldn’t get any better, we get Walker & Dane’s story. You can tell they have a deep bond from the moment you met them you just didn’t realize how deep until now. Once Joy shows up with her daughter in tow their lives are forever changed. Dane & Walker both have to struggle with what happened with Joy in the past that led to her showing up unannounced on their doorstep with trouble right behind her. The question is can they overcome the mistakes they made both real and imagined and have the one person they both want more than anyone or will they let old hurts and opinions get in the way. Can their new Hot Rides/Hot Rods family help them see what is right in front of them before it is too late? I can't wait for the next book and to see where this wonderful extended family goes from here.
