I was never her white knight, but allowed her to believe it until the day she forgot she was mine. I quickly became the villain who would stop at nothing to keep her.

Pretty Twisted Lies by Emily Bowie a five-star read that Twist you up. This was a great story and has a darker edge to what I have come to love about Emily Bowies writing, but its like growing older, your life gets darker. I was a huge fan of the stories set in Three Rivers both the Bennett Brothers and Steele Family series, so I was excited to see Kiptyn get his own story, and man what a story he has. It has it all, drama, passion, loss and strength. Reading this it will have your heart ponding, breath holding and tears forming, emotions will be wrung out of you and you will feel like you have been hit by a truck, but its what comes after that, the feeling when you get to the end of the story that will be what gives you the greatest feeling it’s like getting your first full breath of fresh air after holding your breath for a really long time. Kip and Kellie feel like fated lovers, but fate is a fickle creature as we all know and it does like to play by its own rules, to follow those rules you will need to pick up this amazing story.

This book has a different feeling from my others. Kiptyn has a darker path than my other characters but is able to find love and his own HEA. I hope you love Kiptyn and Kellie as much as I do!

Such an amazing book full of so many twist and turns I really didn't know which way to go. The very first time Kiptyn and Kellie met I could feel the chemistry between them. They found a peace within themselves when they were around one another. They really go through so much by the end you really don't know if they are going to make it or not. I love a book that can keep me guessing and wondering if the hero really is the hero. I have loved every one of Emily's books and this one just wen to the top of my favorites from her. I can't wait to see what comes next from this author.

Kellie and Kiptyn were fascinating.
Their story started very sweetly, then it got a little steamy. Add in some grief, a dash of angst and some pretty, twisted lies and you have one hell of a book.
There were - of course - a few Bowie twists thrown in, just to break my heart a little more.

We met Kiptyn before in Emily Bowie’s books, as a side character, and I was patiently waiting for him to get his own story. And what a story he has. It’s darker than what I read before from this author but I loved it!
Kellie is the total opposite from Kiptyn, light, girly, innocent. Kiptyn is dark and dangerous and not so innocent. But opposites attract, right?!
Loved this story a lot!

I kindly received an arc and voluntarily left a review

4.5 stars!!

This book appears to be a spin off from “Steele Family” series. I own them all but haven’t had a chance to read. So I will say it isn’t necessary to read them but I feel as though it would fill in some blanks.

This story is about a rich girl trying to live her dream but being weighed down by family secrets. And in the midst of all that finding her one true love from the wrong side of the tracks...

First of all Kiptyn is HOT as sin!! I am head over heels for this dude. Totally get why he needed a book if he spotlighted in another series. What I love the most is you watch these two main characters grow. It’s not a whirlwind romance but a bumpy ass road to each other. Kiptyn is my dude and they ran him through the ringer. Poor baby.

I really didn’t find many faults with Kellie. She was clueless to many things but I don’t know anyone who would be able to spot such things without hints. I love her love for Kiptyn. She found her way. It was beautiful.

These two together, Kellie and Kiptyn, were explosive. Hot!! Sexy!! He was total alpha and she was, herself. She didn’t change for him or let go of herself and that’s what made this book beautiful.

It did drive me nuts the years and months in between had me guessing. I didn’t like that. I felt like I missed some stuff and maybe that was because I didn’t read the previous series. It just felt rushed. But I will say I love the characters in this book so I can’t wait to read the “Steele Family” series. Can I mention the cover is off the chain as well!!! Love it.

The author kills it with story lines and character development. I knew this from previous books of hers. She never disappoints. This is a book you will love to devour.

**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review**

I have to admit I am in two minds about this book as it had interested me in getting a copy, though I went in pretty much blind. The first chapter which was a bit like a prologue had me captivated and intrigued to read more as I was sure I had stumbled into a stalker type story but alas I was proved wrong as the next chapter introduced us to our male lead Kip and then the next our female lead Kellie. The pair met when Kellie was in high school as she was sent by her father to a boarding school for girls - basically a school to keep her out of sight, out of mind - so that she wouldn't interfere with her parents' lives. At the school one day, just out of the gate - she meets a bad boy Kip. Kip has grown up in a life of danger as he now runs the bar his parents once owned and the McGrath Estate empire. Throughout the novel, we will read this forbidden romance filled with danger and angst between Kellie and Kip. Until one day, Kip discovers the identity of the man known as "The Suit" and that is he a whole lot more closer to Kellie than he ever realized. Thus begins Kip's journey to keep Kellie safe without her ever knowing he was a part of it, even if it means losing the one he loves in the hope he will one day get to be with her. What happens though when she moves on with her life and becomes engaged to someone else? Has Kip lost his chance or will Kellie's love for Kip still be strong that she will go to the ends of the earth to find him? Find out in this angsty NA dark romance "Pretty, Twisted Lies' by Emily Bowie.

"I can feel both our hearts beating in tandem, hitting the deepest parts of my soul. With each kiss, another part of my heart chips off and is given to him."

I've been ready for Kellie and Kiptyn since they rode off in Whiskey Moments and left an impression. Kiptyn had me from the second he got off his motorcycle at Kellie's All Girl's school with a smirk and banter to swoon for. Even I didn't expect the wild ride it would take after that!! They both traveled together, apart, parallel, for a ton of years and the story just kept unraveling and dropping secrets everywhere with jaw droppers everywhere and it just had me hooked!!

Kip's eyes swing to mine, and my breath hitches. He has a predator gleam, and I have no doubt I will be his prey."

Kiptyn was darker than most of this Author's characters, yet his vulnerability and softness shone bright and impossible not to fall for him. They each met with countless obstacles, one hurdle after another, but their connection spanned years and was proven time and time again to be stronger than what came their way. I enjoyed the layering of previous stories, and swirling with old favorite characters, it was a fabulous escape that I didn't want to end.

What a twisted web of chaos and confusion all in the name of love. It was on from the moment they met, they became fast friends. They found a way to bring peace to each other in the middle of their storms. Things weren't easy for either one of them but the outside influences just added to the lies. The lies just compounded more and more so destructive. This couple has to go through the fire to get their hea, more like an inferno. This author takes us through the ringer right along with them. It's an awesome read that keeps you going and doesn't let you cool off not with this two. How can you hate a man when his life goal is to see you find success in what ever you do, easy you can't not even when you are surrounded by twisted lies.

Kellie comes from an affluent and powerful family who is trying to reconcile the future that others want for her with the future that she dreams of. Kiptyn’s life has been a struggle as he carries huge responsibilities which forces him into dangerous decisions.

From their first meeting there was no denying the chemistry and connection between them. Their lives may take them in different directions, but neither time nor distance can break the bond between them and when they are brought together once more their journey is filled with secrets, surprises and steam.

Kellie and Kiptyn are total opposites, and where she is all girly and innocent, he is dark and dangerous, yet shows his vulnerability with Kellie. Even though they come from different worlds, they find their inner peace with each other perfectly. They also have so many obstacles to overcome along the way, which had me on tenterhooks throughout. This is a beautifully written story which is filled with angst, grief, lies, twists, and love. I cannot wait to read more from this author and I highly recommend her work for all.

Quotes

I have this weird sensation that Kiptyn was meant to come into my life like our paths are destined to be intertwined together.

I have this stupid grin on my face. She is the one pure innocent thing I have in my life. She’s not tainted with my way of life.

I have Kellie.” Her lips move, I think she wants to smile. “She’s sweet and keeps me grounded. She reminds me of the stories you used to tell yourself and how you made dad a better person. She does that to me.”

My heart beats fast, reminding me of Kiptyn. When I was with him it was always an adventure, even if we did nothing. He allowed me to remember who I was and that life was fun again.

His actions hurt and bruise my heart. I felt so stupid when all I wanted to do was see my friend. Then he pushes me away like we’re nothing like I’m nothing to him.

Our atmosphere shifts to something different, something I have longed for over the last year. My whole body becomes aware of his presence. I watch as his eyes drift to my lips and all I can think about is wanting him to kiss me. Not like the hundreds of times before, but like I mean the world to him.

I lay my heart out on him. Praying he chooses us, needing him to choose me.

“I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen you run home naked before,” he chuckles.

“It’s like the hole in my heart I have been trying to fill all of a sudden closed and I could breathe again. I didn’t have to pretend to be happy, because all of a sudden I truly felt it.”

“I can always feel you, Kellie. You’re permanently in here,” he taps his chest above his heart.

It all makes me wonder, who really is Kiptyn McGrath? And do I know him like I thought I did?

I don’t want her to forget me as her songs says. I’m greedy. I thrive on her love, and I don’t think I can deal with her not loving me back.

Dipping my head I turn to leave. I’ve memorized everything about her right now. Etching it into my soul that I’m not even sure still exists.

His posters are hung everywhere in this small town, like they are waiting for him to walk back into town, just like I half expect him to walk back into my life.

🤩How could I hold a flame for a man who doesn’t want me?

🤩I found my soul mate when I was sixteen riding a motorcycle. I doomed myself for all others,

I’ve only wanted one thing in my life: Kellie. Everything I have ever done is to get closer to her. To free us from the invisible chains that refuse to allow us to be together.

🤩“Don’t fight us. This is our love story.”

This is where Kip and I will finish our love story or where I get to rewrite our ending.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I went into Pretty Twisted Lies completely blind. I hadn’t read the plot and had never read a book by Emily before, so I went in with no expectations and no idea what I was in store for. I LOVED the first half of the book!! The boy from the wrong side of the tracks and the sheltered heiress and their forbidden romance and first love. Their friendship was beautiful, blossoming into a love that consumed them both. They found something in each other that they desperately needed and craved.

It was exhilarating, had me smiling and my heart fluttering and I was so excited to see how the story would progress but unfortunately, it went in a direction I didn’t too much enjoy. There was just so much drama, and struggle after struggle made the storyline drag and feel a little tedious after a while. I felt the characters and the plot were built up so much in the first half, allowing my anticipation to grow and grow only for both to fall flat and to be honest, left me feeling disappointed. I envisioned Kiptyn as this strong, hardworking alpha who dominated the world and everyone fell at his feet, to him just flaking. He seriously had the worst luck known to man. Kellie was sheltered and naïve before meeting Kiptyn, but she was adventurous and sassy and her confidence shined from their friendship and love. But her nativity and obliviousness were frustrating as the book progressed. There were also a few aspects of the storyline that were not explained or in my personal opinion resolved properly either.

Whilst the second half did go downhill for me, I did like the plot idea and the writing was incredible and held my attention. The twists and turns did keep me on the edge of the seat, and I had my fingers crossed that everything would come together.

The happily ever after left me feeling warm and fuzzy inside, especially after the struggles both Kiptyn and Kellie had to face. So, that was a nice little bonus.

Overall, yes, I would recommend this book as this is just my personal opinion and feelings and you may absolutely adore it. I was very impressed by Emily’s writing and super curious about some of the secondary characters’ stories. I know I will definitely be reading not only their stories but also more from Emily in the future.

'One of us was always struggling with letting go It's why we always find our way back to each other'

If you are looking for a hearts and flowers romance read then 'Pretty Twisted Lies' is not for you - but if like me you want something that is raw and powerful with many twists and turns right to the epilogue then this is the book for you!

Kellie and Kiptyn are a modern day Rose and Jack from Titanic if Jack had survived and made it to NY how would he and Rose been able to be together he poor and her rich already sold of to the richest man.

Kellie is that rich girl that is being groomed by her father for a place in his world; and Kiptyn who at 19 has become a man already never really ever being just a boy is now running the run down bar that his sick mom owns. Kiptyn's only hope for a better live is to get into bed so to speak with a notorious MC club and some very shady politicians.

A chance meeting with Kiptyn when Kellie just turns 16 near the boarding school where her parents have sent her in the hopes of her becoming a lady sets us on this twisted love story over a roughly 10 year period. With most of the last 6 years near the end of the book.

There are outside forces that are hell bent on keeping these two apart all for ill gotten gains. Kellie has her sights set on being a famous singer and while she goes about making that dream a reality Kipytyn is like a shadow in her life always there but never seen. Kipyton no's the only way to keep the love of his life safe is not to be with her; but forces beyond their control are bringing them back together for one final show down!

Pretty Twisted Lies by Emily Bowie was a great 5 star read.
I was pulled in right from the beginning, I really liked the dark element in the story.

Kiptyn meets Kellie and he is instantly drawn to her. They start to develop a friendship and eventually it grows into more as she gets older. There is a dark side to Kiptyn that Kellie get’s a glimpse at, it scares her at times but also turns her on. We jump ahead a few years here and there as the story progresses. Kiptyn is in and out of Kellie’s life, he always knows where she is and what she is doing. When things take an unexpected turn Kiptyn is determined to get Kellie back in his life.

Overall I really enjoyed this read. Kellie’s dad is very controlling and it’s shocking what she learns about him. We get several twists and turns. The secondary characters added a great element to the story. There was a heart stopping moment that really threw me off and left me in tears. If you're looking for a great read with darkness and a hot alpha male this is your book. 1-click and get started today.

HOLY TWISTED HELL! Pretty Twisted Lies was one of those books that simply slayed me cover to cover. I don't feel like going into many details is the way to go since there are so many twists & turns. And I mean f-bomb dropping twists which were all turned out until I didn't know which way was up, and those are the best books in my eyes. It's a darker read, and I'm always here for dark reads so this was right up my dark & twisty alley. Kiptyn & Kellie have had all kinds of chemistry & connection the moment they met, but they're complete opposites. She calms him down as she views him as her white knight, while he knows deep down she's the light to his dark. And the journey they took had me ready to throw my kindle, cry, scream colorful metaphors, all the while trying to decide if he's going to be the hero because the insanity in their journey had me all kinds of raw. And that's all from me, so it's time for y'all to hit those one click buttons if you're brave enough! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Pretty, Twisted Lies is a great contemporary romance. Lots of ups and downs, twists and turns, making it an adventurous read. Young love has always been a favorite of mine.

Money, power, and greed seems to be a huge commonality among Kellie’s parents. Mostly her father, but nothing can attest to the fact that secrets line her life when it has to do with her family. Just when you think that it can’t get worse, it does. She’s looking for love, acceptance, and success. All in a day's work, right? Kellie has her work cut out for her and Kiptyn will make sure that she receives everything she wants in life. Love makes you do things you never thought imaginable. For Kip, his life has always been a struggle and he’ll be damned if he’s going to let those he loves, get anything less than they deserve.

I adored this book. The writing is free-flowing and it has a lot of detail into the lives of Kiptyn and Kellie. Lots of background and insight into their souls. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves adventure.

Pretty Twisted Lies by Emily Bowie is the story of Kellie Dare and Kiptyn McGrath.
This was such a page turning story for me. Kellie is the modern day rich innocent young lady who is nothing but caring. Kiptyn is the bad boy who had to struggle for everything but has a big heart and very protective of the ones he care for. They are so totally different but you can feel their emotions toward each other. This was a story that you will not be able to put down..it was for me.

This book was absolutely fantastic. I have to be honest it took a few chapters for me to actually get into the story but once I did that was it, I did not want to stop or for the story to end. There were so many twists I wasn't expecting but they had me hooked. It was just amazing. One of my top reads this year.

My-Post-1
All my reviews can be found on my blog : ABSTRACT BOOKS

PRETTY TWISTED LIES is a steamy ,second-chance , standalone novel that will truly twist you up.

This was my first book by Emily Bowie , and it was absolutely amazing!!This book has a certain dark edge that keeps you hooked up in the book and doesn't let you go. I mean I just could not put down this book once I started.

It is set in the same world as the Bennett brothers story line and I was really excited to finally read Kiptyn's story. He was a character that had me intrigued from the very first time I read about him. His story was this amazing dark-twisted version and just blew my mind. It was full of pain and suffering but there was so much love too.

The story spans over a very wide time line and we meet Kellie in the start of the story. Both her and Kiptyn knew each other for a long time and have been trying to deny the spark between them. The moment they both get close to each, something in life gets in the way and they both again have an incomplete ending. They again cross paths and the same thing happens. The story was basically a push and pull between the main characters and has you longing for the moment when they will finally get their happy ending!! and the wait is so worth it!!! The ending of the story was absolutely perfect and just blew my mind!!

I absolutely loved the way both Kiptyn and Kellie hung onto each other and even after so many years , their spark was just the same. They were a truly motivating pair, that taught me ,no matter how tough things get or how long two people have to wait , they can still somehow get their happy ending in the last!!

Pretty twisted lies is a must read for all the dark-romance lovers because it will take you on a ride full of so much pain, suffering and love , and is the true journey of never giving up!

Kellie Dare is an heiress who is attending school in Three Rivers away from her family. She is a bit of a rebel as she is tired of having her life controlled and it is when she has snuck away from the school that she meets Kiptyn McGrath.
Kiptyn McGrath is 19 years old but has had to grow up fast as he runs the family’s bar, McGrath Mansion, and has to deal with bikers and keeping his head above water while his mom is dying. Kiptyn does the best he can and makes alliances when needed and one is with Axel, who’s dad is the President of the Fallen Saints MC.
Yet nothing is easy for Kiptyn and his mentor/best friend, Russ, must figure out works best for Kiptyn and he tries to juggle his feelings for Kellie while trying to get ahead. When the two worlds begin to intersect, Kiptyn needs to figure what to do before he loses everything.
I enjoyed this book but there was a key part that I didn’t understand which lowered my rating as I felt as though I missed a whole section!
I liked Kellie and found that she was a bit of a trapped bird who was grasping at any chance to find herself. I loved that she had aspirations of going to Nashville but was struggling to have her dad believe in her and let her follow her dreams. I liked her a lot at the beginning of the book but then at a certain point I was so frustrated with her after she received some information from Kiptyn and she continued with what she was doing with her friendship with Noah. Then at the end I liked her again after she finally made a good decision.
Kiptyn was a character that I really enjoyed as he knew he wasn’t a really good guy but he was really trying to make something of himself although he really kept making some bad business decisions and got caught up with the wrong person. I liked his friendship with Russ and how much he trusted him but Russ was also wary of Kiptyn’s relationship with Kiptyn as it distracted him.
I hated “The Suit” and his lacky! I didn’t trust him at all and I was freaking out a little as I was shocked that Russ couldn’t get any information on either of them.
I was so proud of Kellie with how she dealt with Oliver and Leon Grand but I was completely shocked about who was behind it. The made me wonder how far that individual would go.
I was curious about the Judge and whether he was involved with the other person in setting up Kiptyn. It seemed to me like Noah was always in the right place.
The big accident was the part that left me completely confused. I couldn’t uynderstand how it was like nothing happened to Noah and Kellie. But then things happened with Axel and Russ that didn’t make sense at all and I didn’t get how it was Kiptyn’s fault. I felt as though I missed a whole chapter here and then it kind of put me off as I was still trying to fit the pieces together.
I was so relieved when Kellie and Kiptyn talked and everything finally got out in the open. I kind of new things were going to happen like they did and I was happy for how it all went down! The end was awesome and I liked the name dedication!

What a STORY!

Love, love, LOVED Pretty Twisted Lies

This is a full length novel with all the backstory you’ll want to read. For me, what makes a book a 5 star read is a combo of characters, a solid plot, and the writing .... and PTL has all 3

Characters Kiptyn and Kellie are delish ... Each has personal burdens they are dealing with and as they grow older, and face the challenges as they mature. She’s the pretty rich girl with distant parents who are more interested in their image than Kellie. He’s the poor kid from the wrong side of town with all kinds of wrong ... but they are right together.

The plot and the writing are solid ... and a great example of why Ms. Bowie is such a good author. The book pulled me in from the start and kept me engaged throughout .... and the laundry didn’t get done on time because I kept loosing myself in the pages. There is non-stop drama and sizzling scenes throughout ... with an ending that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

If you’re looking for your next read ... and for a terrific author, download Pretty Twisted Lies and start following Emily Bowie!

I received an ARC. This is my honest review

A twisted tale of Kellie whose whole world wasn't what it seemed until she meet Kiptyn. Even though Kellie and Kiptyn are polar opposites they have something that continues to pull them together. An unseen force that drives their love and need for each other. The way they connect is different then most people. Months and even years go by but even when they aren't together their connection continues to grow and sprouts into this weird bond. No matter what obstacles are placed in their way they always seem to come out on the other side even better.
Emily Bowie tells of Kellie and Kiptyn and how a chance meeting one day changed everything about their life. The truth and the pretty twisted lies they were living.
