Private Detective Tony Crow is hired to investigate the strange happenings in Grand Rock Lake, a small Northern Minnesota town. Disappearances, deaths, drug deals in broad daylight, arrests but no convictions, and residents’ distrust of their new police officers have turned life in the idyllic lake town into a nightmare. While the nation is focused on the southern border, Tony, his partner, Don Hanson, and receptionist-turned-investigator, Denise Richardson, learn first-hand how Mexican cartel drug trafficking has infiltrated the northern border. Quiet little Grand Rock Lake could become a hub to supply illegal drugs to the surrounding states! If dirty cops and drug dealers are in collusion, it would put his team into an explosive situation. Can they untangle the truth in time, before more victims fall?
I currently live in Austin, Texas with my wife Margaret, and our dog, Bailey. We moved here in 2010 from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I've always loved to read books, even when I was in grade school. I enjoyed the way a good novel could sweep you away from your reality and drop you in someone else's. I never had enough time to spend writing until an unfortunate illness forced me into an early retirement, but you know how the old saying goes, when fate hands you a lemon...
My favorite authors are; James Lee Burke, Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, Craig Johnson, Lawrence Saunders, just to name a few.
Flight of the Crow is the third novel that I've finished, but the first that has been published. It's the story of Tony Crow, a private investigator and his assistant, Don Hanson.
The second Tony Crow mystery; Eye of the Crow has now also been published.
Tony Crow is an ex cop whose injuries in the line of duty sidelined him to desk duty, so he decided to retire nd set himself up as a Private Detective. He gets a call from an old friend and retired FBI agent asking for help in looking to the increased drug traffic and local police "inaction" in the small where he and his wife have built a house and are worried about what is happening. Tony and his staff take on the job and end up tangling with the local police and the presence of a Mexican Cartel. Their investigation gets dangerous and threats and attacks are made before a solution in reached. A decent read and if my TBR pile needs replenishment this will be an author to revisit.
I received a complimentary electronic copy of this excellent PI novel from EReaderNews and the author Howard A. Schwartz. Thank you all for sharing your hard work with me. I have read Night of the Crow, first in the winter of 2020, again as I binged the series, and I highly recommend it to friends and family. For we seniors, a bit of nostalgia for PI tales of the '60s and '70s, and as an introduction to youngsters of the genre. You will live Tony Crow and his cohorts, and the trouble they get into. This tale is a doozie on its own - as a part of the series it's un-put-downable. REVIEWED on March 9, 2024, at Goodreads, AmazonSmile, and BookBub. Not available for review on B&N or Kobo.
While there were some good paragraphs, most of this novel was just a list of things that happened, interspersed with dialogue that no one would ever say.
