It takes a special kind of virgin to bind a unicorn. Scott would never have dreamed he was pure of body, heart and soul, but then he had no cause to believe unicorns even existed until he reluctantly drove to Del Fantasma late one night to rescue his stranded brother, Bryan. Jack may be a unicorn, but he's he avoids virgins like the plague. The chances of meeting that special type of virgin is slim-to-none in bars like Del Fantasma and he delights in every opportunity to feed his own lusty appetites while he can. After all, a unicorn may be undeniably attracted to virgins but that doesn't mean he has to be one himself. Unfortunately for Jack's plans, their bond is instantly formed when he meets Scott. Jack is now Scott's to command. He just has to convince him what he is, something that sounds a lot easier than it is. And Bryan? Well, it turns out that their meeting wasn't entirely by chance. Bryan was instructed by a group of vampires to get the two together. Now that he has, can Jack and Scott discover the threat against them and save Bryan in time?

I love Jet Mykles books. Is there a badly written book by her? I really don't think so. She somehow always keeps her books fresh and interesting, and she can write chemistry between her characters that like few authors can.
Jack is a unicorn shapeshifter that avoids virgins like the plague...particularly MALE virgins. He is beautiful, sexy and other immortal beings are naturally drawn to his magical powers and charisma he outwardly projects. (he's awfully easy on the eyes too)
Vampires in particular love unicorns. Unicorn blood is very addictive to all vampires.
When Brian walks into the bar that Jack is socializing at, Jack knows his life will never be the same. Brian is everything he has ever wanted and needed to avoid in his whole life. Not only is Brian attractive and loyal, but he is a virgin and pure at heart.
When he finds out that Brian is trying to help his brother who is involved with a powerful vampire, Jack must help him...even it it means he could lose his life for his one true love.
I enjoyed this book, and really hated for it to end.

Jack is a shapeshifter Unicorn and Scott is a virgin and we all know what happens when a Unicorn meets a Virgin... well, actually I didn't know that all the sex was involved and now images of fairy virgin princess riding white unicorn stallion are playing in my mind...

Jack is a quite young shapeshifter Unicorn; in all his existence he has met only three pure souls (virgin in mind and body) able to caught him, and two of them were women during his student phase. The only real relationship he had was with a man, lasted five years. The trick to get free of the bond with the virgin is if the virgin loses its purity; but sex with Jack is not the way to lose purity, since all the virgin and the Unicorn makes together doesn't break the bond.

Since the last relationship broke pretty bad, now Jack is used to frequent Del Fantasma, a bar where is quite impossible to find a pure soul... that is till Scott enters the bar. Scott is a shy geek boy; 21 years old and virgin, he is unaware of all the paranormal life around. He is there to help his brother and as fast as he can leave is better. But when Jack senses Scott, the bond is tight and Jack is due to obey Scott in every thing.

Scott is too young and naivee to profit of Jack's power, and all he can thing to use is Jack's skill in bed: for how much innocent Scott is, he is very interested in experiment all the sexual freedom he can find with Jack.

The story is not very long, a little more than 100 pages, and it is light and enjoyable. Jack's character, the Unicorn, is more developed than Scott; of Jack we know about his past life and his reason to be as he is; Scott instead is a bit of an enigma, for example we don't know why he is virgin: it's a choice? or a lack of opportunity?

Jack is a unicorn, yes, I said unicorn, now you know why I wanted to read this one. :)
And as the legend goes they are attracted to virgins, but not just that, the virgin has to be pure of heart and all that stuff.
Scott is just such a virgin, and as such is being used as bait, since it seems that unicorn blood is like the IT drug for vamps, so they got Scott's brother to lure the unicorn, cause see, the unicorn is then under the spell of the virgin ( although in this book, he doesn't actually I have to stay a virgin, Go Scott! To still have the power to command Jack.)
So, a little love ensues, a little drama, a little sex, it was a fun short, with a unicorn!! Have I mentioned there was a unicorn? lol

This was a really cute, brief story. It is hard to really get attached to characters in novellas, and although Jet usually does an excellent job with the quick character development, this one didn't quite reach the level of her other shorts that I have read. Most of them are excellent, especially Heaven, A Rose is a Rose, and Tech Support. But this one is my second to least favourite of her stories that I have read, above only Hell which is, oddly enough, the longest one.

But I would like to give this 3.5/5, because it is quite a bit better than Hell. I really enjoyed the story, and Scott and Jack were both quite adorable. I just wish that their relationship had been better developed. I found it hard to believe that their relationship had already reached the depth that it would have had to in order to sacrifice what they did for each other in the end. The fact that they only knew each other for 2 days could have been worked around with more scenes together, but it was just too short.

I am happy for them and I am glad that they loved each other enough to overcome their ordeal, I only wish that I would have been able to feel it more.

The unicorn shifter concept in this story was pretty good. There was some great action and I loved the ending. It appears that this book is part of a series written by many different authors that all take place around this Del Fantasma bar. I may try reading some of the others too.

P.S. - There is a drink recipe at the end of the book for something called a Unicorn. May have to try that out ;P

A little heavier and more intense than usual for Jet Mykles, but a very good story. I needed tissues and loved the ending even if it did seem a little bit like cheating.
