***Update: I reread this in July, 2020 in preparation for book three! I love it just as much the second time around. ***

Review:

This book was a page-turner! The main character, Róisín, has grown a bit older and wiser while still maintaining a heavy dose of impulsiveness and daring. I loved watching her blossom into her power. There were lots of familiar characters and some new ones too. My favorite was the Druid.

This was a fantastic, fast paced book with great character development. It definitely moved my fantasy loving, Celtic mythology obsessed heart. If you like YA fantasy, faeries, and Celtic folklore please read this book.

I’m obsessed with faeries, magic, and Ireland, so I feel like I have pretty high standards for books covering these topics. Logan has a beautiful way of writing and maintains the mystique of these subjects while weaving a beautiful story of her own. Such a fun read.

I have to say. The first book was better, but hot damn what an ending. Nahh that blew me away. The twists and turns. Also no Darren! Yay. Look I don’t dislike him, but he doesn’t need to be the center of attention. So that’s cool. I just missed some funk from the first book, but I’m expecting that in book 3!

I finished this book in 48hrs, it’s that good (IMO)! If you weren’t entirely hooked or convinced by book 1 in this series, I HIGHLY recommend you continue book 2. The storyline has more action and becomes more engaging. The character development is very good and detailed, not to mention the main character Roisín grows and turns into a strong female lead - becoming more fun to read and relatable. There are some twists that I didn’t see coming, and I absolutely cannot wait for book #3!

This is a wonderful book that draws you in! I finished it all in one day! Absolutely loved it! I love how descriptive it is and how it shows so much emotion. You feel like you are in the scene with them. Definitely a must read! But if you haven’t read the first book “the festival of trial and ember” I recommend reading that first

Another home run read for me! I really liked how this story built off of the first book and helped the reader to better understand some missing pieces from the first book. Not everything is answered yet though and it left me giddy with excitement for book three to come out!

I loved how the main character grew in this book! The story pulled at my heart, and made me cry at times. It was wonderful to have a character that I really relate to, and in whom I see so much of myself. I cannot wait to read more!!

Really enjoyed this book! I felt more of a connection with the story in this one over the first book, and found myself wanting to continue reading on to know what happens next. There are a lot of open-ended parts of the story, so I'm hopeful for a continuation in the series!

I enjoyed this one a little better than the first in the series. I'm still not connecting with the main character. She seems very flighty to me - changing her mind, feelings, and commitments every other chapter. Not too many of the other characters are very deeply developed, but it was fun to "see" some of the characters from book one. I'm hoping the main character develops a little more stability/consistency in the next book and looking forward to reading it.

I am left inspired. With the Fae, with Ireland, with magic, Celtic myths, and Gaelic… I love when an author has a pronunciation guide! I will read this trilogy again and save the books for my daughter to read when she’s older.

Second in the series. Well written and entertaining. I am really liking how the main character has developed through the first book into the second. I was somewhat disappointed in the handling of the "big reveal" toward the end of the book. It was pretty obvious to me what was going to happen, so maybe that's part of the problem. Good beach book.
