I love to write all kinds of romance.

Historical Romance, the manners and the speech, the feeling of living in the times past. Whether the Heroes be English lords, Scottish Lairds, or Knights of old, the Heroines they fall in love with are independent, beautiful (in the Hero’s eyes), and smart. To me, there’s nothing better than to curl up with a great Historical Romance and let the modern world pass by.

Oh, but Contemporary Romance is just as compelling to me. Even in modern times, I believe we all want, and hope for, a love so surprising, so amazing, that our toes curl just at the mention of his or her name.

And it’s so much fun linking Contemporary characters with Historical characters in Time Travel Romance. Talk about a fish out of water.

Romance is everywhere so let’s not forget Paranormal, Fantasy, or Science Fiction and I want to meet the people who have stories in those genres too.

And… I get to write the stories. How lucky am I?

Please join me on the journey to finding the greatest love story of all time.

If you love History, Time Travel and Romance . . .

You will love this book!
First, I must admit I love time travel & historical romances and this one brings it all. A family, a mystery, their disbelief, a mysterious artifact, accurate historical references and a hot hero to fall in love with.
Callie Berkham does an excellent job weaving all the pieces together in a perfect story. My only complaint was it ended too soon, I wanted more and more. Now I must leave you as the 2nd book is calling my name.

Time Travel Back to the Days Just After Culloden

I always enjoy time travel romance if it is well written. I'm always intrigued by the way the author will choose to create the vehicle that allows for time travel. Authors can be quite creative with this aspect of time travel books, although some do gloss over it. I quite liked that the author chose a physical object that was actually well integrated into the plot. Usually, it is simply a device to make the rest of the story happen, but in this book, it was actually integral to what followed. The fact that the author had the modern woman transported to the Culloden battle just as the fighting is dwindling down further intrigued me. Having been to Culloden last year, I found some of her facts to be inaccurate while others were correct. In that very first scene, I found the hero’s perspective on the battle to be a fascinating one. The hero and the heroine were relatable characters, and I enjoyed watching their story unfold.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

This was an okay read. I never thought I was very particular about time travel books but this one proved that I am. Since this is a time-travel novel, one must make allowances by having an open mind and using one’s imagination but as much as I tried this just didn’t do it for me. There were too many plot holes, and too many things that didn’t make sense.

While the premise was interesting, everything just seemed too easy. Things just coincidentally fell into place for the H & h. The story was choppy and heavily manipulated by the author so the romance between Iain and Abby didn’t only happen too quickly but it also felt forced and the entire story was rushed. Can’t say I’ll be finishing this series.

Intrigue, romance & more

We begin the story from 4 siblings, and one annoying cousin, a cape, a box of books and a globe.
The Davis siblings have come together on the first anniversary of the passing of their parents. Abigail holds the strange orb and Cape and suddenly is whisked through time to the battlefields of Culloden, Scotland. There she sees a man, injured, but not dead. She rescues him and, managing to lose the orb along the way, is desperate to get it back as she knows its importance in returning home. Meanwhile we now begin to see how the love is growing between herself and the man she saved, none other than Iain, Laird of the Clan McLaren. Now the REAL story is revealed.
Such a wonderful read, thoroughly enjoyed. Very intrigued to learn of the fates of the remaining Davis siblings.

Engaging time travel romance with some different elements

I really enjoyed this time travel romance and I have read a lot of them. This one had some different elements that I haven’t seen in other time travel books. The pacing was great, kept things interesting and moving forward without getting bogged down. There were a lot of loose story threads about the parents and their travels that weren’t tied up by the end. I suspect the author will deal with those in the future books—I hope anyway. If not, that will be a major knock against the number of stars I gave this book as these details seem fundamental to the underpinnings of the whole story. Looking forward to book 2!

It was okay

If you're not too picky about time travel romance you should like this one. I enjoyed it but still haven't found one that hits the mark. The setting and journey were not realistic enough for me. If you're hiding from the enemy you don't light fires. The attraction between the hero and heroine got boring too repetitive. The ending was rushed he wanted to show her the game he had thought about it several times before and then he gets it and it was omitted nothing happens like he didn't have it in his hands. The nanny knew something else and said that's all they needed to know for now and it was never brought up again. To travel through time the story made it seem too simple and that it could be done repeatedly without recourse. The one thing the author could have done was brought more intense romance to the story and that alone could have made me overlook the lacking of the time travel essence. My review is perhaps nitpicking but I've read many of these types of books and there are some out there that are great and this one falls short but many do.

Relaxing Romance

A relaxing, easy romance with time travel by way of a magical orb. Good, believable writing except for a few sentences in the beginning that sounded too modern for the Highlander, but overall a smooth story with an ending that raises expectations that more adventure is to happen concerning Abby’s time traveling parents.

This book was a suggestion on my Kindle Unlimited list. I like to try out stories with only a few reviews to help out new writers. This book is perfect for night time reading...lol..though I kept reading past my normal bedtime to see what would happen next.

I would give this 3.5/4 stars. The beginning of the book (moreso the 1st chapter) was way too rushed and had too much going on. I think part of that was due to there being too many characters in one scene to keep straight because this also happened towards the end of the book. BUT, once the Abby was on her own in Scotland, the book got much better. There was more depth in the novel and the romance had a thrill to it. Aside from my first complaint, one thing I think I would have liked to see was more of a conflict towards the end of the book. It felt like the characters got away easily from the issues at hand. But aside from that, it was overall a very light read.

There was a lot of hokey-pokey in this book. :) There is always some hokey-pokey in a time travel book (have to suspend belief, some amount of strangeness) but this had a lot of "sappiness" and things that were just overdone and dramatic. This was written as fluff and was fluff--mission accomplished, and I even like some fluff but this was extra fluffy. At the end of the book, it mentioned another book about Abby's siblings back home while she was gone. I have absolutely no interest and no interest in more from this author.

Thoroughly enjoyed this adventure.

Iain and Abby's story was filled with action and adventure and even a plausible "time machine" to throw Abby back to 1776 Scotland in the middle of a battlefield. The story flowed from scene to scene and drew me in. I read the entire book in one day because I just could not put it down. Callie Berkham is a new author to me and I can't wait to read her next book.

I wanted to like it, but the writing just felt stilted, and too often the story had to be cajoled to move along from one development to the next.

The Mark and Dianne element is intriguing to me, and I would have welcomed more information about their doings in the timeplace. I suppose that will be revisited in future books in the series, where I will no longer be able to see them.

I gave this book 5 stars based on my enjoyment of reading. I was left thinking there will be more in the series, so look forward to that if that is so. I love time slip romance, the mix of modern characters and historical. I especially love Scottish history, the landscape of the day and the struggles of the Scot’s against the English.

The book is good

It's of course a time travel book. I enjoy reading them. This book seemed to rush through though. I'm not Scottish but I thought babies were bairns? It was good reading just the same.

Good story, short read

I liked this book, it read quickly and kept my interest. It was very clean, which isn’t normally my trope as I like to read some physicality but it was good nonetheless.

Nice read.

A nice, innocent and fast read. Something when you want a change of pace or just quick and simple but not boring. Interesting enough to want to finish it and read the whole series.
