Reason 17 - The year Nana drank too much eggnog and threw up in my Guccis.
Isabel hates Christmas. She’s got a Christmas disaster for each of her 25 years. When her boss sends her from the sun-kissed beaches of Australia to snowy small-town Wyoming, it’s just another thing to add to her ‘do not like’ list. Snow sucks. Christmas sucks. And cowboys suck most of all.
Except maybe for one…
Reason 21 - The year my workplace secret Santa bought me tampons. From the bathroom vending machine.
Johnny loves Christmas. And it only gets better when he lays eyes on a grinchy brunette with the cutest accent around. She might only be in town for a few weeks, but he’s never been one to back down from a challenge. He’s going to right every wrong on her list to make her fall in love with Christmas.
And with him.
Reason 25 - The year I fell for a sexy cowboy. Who lives on the other side of the world. What the hell do I do now?
25 Reasons to Hate Christmas and Cowboys is a standalone romantic comedy sure to give you all the feels of a Hallmark movie, but with the steamy scenes you know you know you’ve been missing.
USA Today Bestselling author Elle Thorpe is the author of over thirty romance titles, including Amazon top ten books, Start a War and Locked Up Liars. She is best known for her dark reverse harems, and sexy small town romances.
When she's not writing, she's probably out on her family's alpaca farm in rural Australia.
Love a great cowboy love story, starting off with grumpy sunshine where the FMC is grumpy and cowboy Johnny falls first and hard! So cute, everything he did for her and after finding out about her past just made everything sparkle. Good amount of spice, not overbearing, and it’s cute and heart warming! Not dark at all, but makings of a dark Hallmark maybe- but only because of the ex.
I’m marking this book as finished I got 63% through it and I’m gonna DNF it. I’m not letting myself struggle through these books this year. I could see how this could be cute, but it just was not for me.
Oh. My. God. You guys, you have to read this. Thorpe brings the heat AND the funnies in this snowy romance. I burst out laughing so many times while reading and, not only is it hilarious, with all the delicious chemistry you could ever want, but Johnny and Isabel are just the cutest.
One of my all-time favourites in romances is where the hero is 100% certain that the heroine is his. Cowboy Johnny is this guy. He sets out to change grumpy Isabel's mind about Christmas, and on the way make her fall in love with him.
I've fallen in love with Johnny for sure. He's SO adorable. And Isabel is a hoot (plus her bestie back in Australia wins the award for comedy side character).
If you love snowy romances, this is for you. And don't wait for Christmas. Order it now!
This was just not for me. I think maybe I'm not an insta love in a novella kinda of girl. I wanted to like it. The premise was great. The spice was nice/ok. The rest was just off, and the epilogue completely sunk it.
This book had likable characters and the potential to be an ok read. As it is now, it was below average for me. It needed a better meet cute for starters. He just shows up at her work and is all smitten. It’s apparently from just seeing her while he was passing by. I’m if the author had worked out something better on a meeting and there had been a bit more time for them, it would have been so much better. The characters weren’t awful so at least there’s that. I read it for Turf Wars and it scored about as good as you can get so at least there’s that.
I’m not totally dismissing the rest of the series. They seem to have more and better reviews so maybe they’re better. I borrowing the audio from Hoopla so there’s also that. The narrators were good too.
This is a cute, Christmas romance. It’s a novella, so the story and romance is fast paced. Isabel is an Australian sent to help out a store in Wyoming over the Christmas shopping season. She meets Johnny one day in the store when she is not in the best mood and proceeds to give him her list of 25 reasons why she hates Christmas.
Johnny is smitten and proceeds to make her fall in love with Christmas (and him.) Johnny is an adorable, sweet, flirty cowboy that Isabel can’t resist and the chemistry is undeniable between them.
Thank you to the author for an arc in exchange for my honest review.
Eh. I really wanted to like this one. There was just,.... something that was off to me. Not sure. Can’t put my finger on it. But there was something while reading that was kinda weird or rushed or,.... I don’t know. Oh well. Can’t love them all.
"𝐇𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐡𝐞'𝐝 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡. 𝐇𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝." Isabel has a whole list of reasons—twenty-five, to be exact—why she hates Christmas. And with the disappointments she’s faced, it’s hard to blame her. But everything changes when Johnny West walks into her life. From the moment they meet, to say Johnny is interested in her is an understatement. He’s determined to give Isabel twenty-five reasons of his own why she should love Christmas. And if, along the way, she falls for him too, that would be the best gift he could ask for. 25 Reasons to Hate Christmas and Cowboys is easily one of the cutest holiday reads I’ve come across in a long time. I devoured it in one sitting and enjoyed every second. I fell hard and fast for Johnny—he’s such a sweetheart, flirty, and absolutely adorable. His gestures for Isabel are so thoughtful, from bringing the beach to her in the middle of winter when she’s missing home to stargazing with hot chocolate. Isabel may have her grumpy side, but she’s kind-hearted and fully present whenever she’s with Johnny. Their connection sparks instantly, but I loved how Johnny is all about taking things slow. From the start, he knew that Isabel was his endgame, no matter how short their time together might be, and he was determined to make her want to stay. This was my first time reading Elle Thorpe, and it definitely won’t be my last! Her writing is so easy to get into—cute, funny, and just so enjoyable. I found myself laughing out loud more than once. Hands down, this is my favorite Christmas read of the year, and I’m already looking forward to whatever she writes next! Isabel has twenty-five reasons why she hates Christmas. And if I were in her shoes, I might just feel the same way. It won't be easy to change her mind after so many years of disappointments. But then again, she hadn't met Johnny West yet. Once Johnny meets Isabel, to say he is interested is an understatement. There is something about her that draws him in close. Johnny is determined to give Isabel twenty-five reasons of his own why she should love Christmas. And if he should get her to love him as well, then that's a true win.
I'm just going to say it, Johnny had me smiling and giddy from his first moments on the page. He was adorable. Johnny was a gorgeous, well-built, hunky cowboy but the aspect of his persona that truly won me over was his generous heart and considerate nature. Like I said, he was adorable.
I don't need to repeat all that's in the synopsis because the author does a great job with that. The premise is pretty sweet and the story well-written. There is a bit of angst, but not much. Overall, this book was a light, endearing read and I enjoyed it very much. I definitely recommend this. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. :)
I really enjoyed this story. Johnny was sweet and charming and I fell in love with him. I love that they had chemistry right from the start and all the things Johnny did to show her how to love christmas again.
A true love story with christmas mixed in and with a hot cowboy. I loved that Isabel was an aussie and how she reacted in the book to the cold and their winter. It made for a real life story with everything mixed in together.
A sweet romance about finding love again and having amazing chemistry right from the start.
This definitely wasn't my favorite book, and considering how short it was, I expected to finish it in a day or so, but it took me days. I just wasn’t excited to read it or listen to the audiobook. I don’t know why, but the story didn’t connect for me. The audiobook narrators did a good job; I just didn’t love the overall story. It was a bit too cutesy, insta-love for me. And there wasn’t much humor, either. The blurb made me think there would be more comedic moments, but there really wasn’t much going on within the story.
cheesy, sweet, insta-love-y little christmas novella. nothing to write home about but if you're like me and just love to drown in holiday novellas, it's a good one to add to the list.
This book kept me hooked from start to finish and gave off the warm, cozy vibes of a Hallmark Christmas movie. While it was undeniably cheesy at times, that charm added to its appeal. The story started off a bit slow, but once it picked up, it raced toward a predictable conclusion. (Just like a hallmark movie) Despite the pacing, it was a great Christmas read. I will read more of these !
