Five celibate years in Hollywood didn’t ease his guilt over his father’s death, and now Ryder Barlow is coming home to Spencer with a new purpose—to create a camp specializing in equine therapy. When he discovers a beautiful woman in his bed, his plans aren’t exactly derailed, but definitely knocked off kilter.
Escaping her past hasn’t been easy for Vianna Harrison, but she thinks she’s found a welcoming home in Spencer—as long as she can keep her ability as a psychic medium hidden. Not an easy task when spirits need to speak of forgiveness and joy to so many loved ones. Or when the owner of the exquisite cabin she’s been allowed to live in comes home unexpectedly.
Neither can start a new chapter in their lives until they stop rereading the old ones. Will acceptance overcome their secrets and show them their Rocky Mountain path to love?
Ryder and Vianna’s story is such a compelling read, I quite literally couldn’t put it down. Gianna comes to Spencer, CO looking for a new start in life. She needs to escape her past, and come to terms with who she is and how to live her life on her own terms. Ryder returns to Spencer after 5 years away in Hollywood. After his father‘s death, he ran off to California to make a name for himself. In doing so, he hoped to put distance between himself and his family, his guilt, and his remorse. He has been unable to forgive himself for his part in his father‘s death. He’s not sure he will ever be able to heal. He hopes moving home will help him put the past in the past. Arriving home to find Vianna living in his house, an unlikely friendship begins. We can only hope it will lead to more sanity battle their pasts in an attempt to find a future *Lizzie Star really delivers a fantastic story that continues to add layers and depth to the Aspen Gold series. I have never been disappointed when I have read one of her books, and this was no exception. You won’t want to miss a single page of this compelling story.
I love continuity series! There is such a sense of home when you get updates on characters you’ve met before. This book was wonderful! I understood Ryder’s guilt. I emphasized with Vianna’s shame. Oh wow, loved the first meet! Didn’t want this book to end.
Vianna is trying to escape from her past - especially her parents and what the represent. She ends up in Spencer, Colorado, where she stays in the 'cabin' of son of the people who rescued her from her broken-down car. To 'earn her keep', she bakes breakfast treats for Zoe's BnB.
Ryder left after his father died, and has spent the last few years working in Hollywood as an animal wrangler for production companies. Now, he's back in Spencer.
Vianna is woken up in the middle of the night when Ryder returns home unexpectedly. Ryder and his sweet tooth quickly decide Vianna is the one for him
The closer they get, the harder it is for Vianna to find a good time to tell Ryder about her psychic abilities...and how they shaped her past. Since she wants to escape her past, will there ever be a good time?
I thought there was more that could be done with Vianna's psychic abilities, but I can see where some readers would wrinkle their nose at it. I understand, so I didn't dwell on it as I was reading. Overall, I enjoyed the book. It moved pretty fast - especially relationship-wise. But at the same time, the healing of other relationships in the book were very heartwarming and tender.
Great story of Vienna and Ryder. Love the town and the families. A nice twist with ghosts and secrets past and present. Thanks for a wonderful story. Kiddie a start is a new,to me author but I am sure I will be reading more of her books.
An interesting concept. Various authors write in the same world with some characters popping up in other authors' books. There is a suggestion that these books are best read in sequence, but they are all complete stories with a "Happy Ever After" ending. I enjoyed reading this book.
Lizzie Starr with Ryder’s Heart gives us a delightful story of two people who meet by accident and must work together to live in the same household, especially when one has a special gift. Starting over can mean different things to different people but by working together you can achieve anything. Vianna car breaks down on her way to move to Spencer, Colorado after being invited by Willa an artist friend. But when her car breaks down and she stays at an unused cabin, things start steaming up. Ryder left Spencer after his father died and swore, he wouldn’t be back. Coming back to his cabin and finding a beautiful woman in his bed was not what he expected when he came back.
I’ve read several of Lizzie Starr’s books and this is by far my favorite. My love of paranormal got me totally into the story. Vianna as a medium worked very well amid the other classic contemporary stories in this series. Ryder finds Vianna in his bed and the tale takes off. I enjoyed a couple surprises I won’t spoil here. Be prepared to stay up late if you start it. That’s what happened to me!
