And worst of all, Rob dying with an arrow through his back. They're not just dreams, they're warnings. If she doesn't do something, Rob will be dead within the month.

Saving him means returning to the past, and that has its own challenges. If her dreams are correct, Gisborne's alive and he wants her dead. The second book in the fantastic series retelling of Robin Hood.

We pick up exactly where the first book left off. Maryanne has returned to her time but she finds some things have changed. Last time she was forced to time travel she thought it was only one return trip. New information has surfaced that suggests otherwise though. When faced with the opportunity of being sent back to Robin will she take it or buckle and stay with her family.

The characters continue to grow and they gel together so well. There is definitely a point in the book that you want to slap Robin and shake him silly! That to me shows just how well the author has made her characters. The descriptions are all there to completely transport you back to 12th century England.

I couldn’t put this book down as the twists and turns never stopped! I can’t recommend this series enough! Bring on number 3!

3.5 stars.

There's more excitement and emotion in this part of the story, so it read well, better than the first installment. I still don't especially connect with Maryanne, but she is a rounder, less stereotypical YA heroine in this go-round and her growth arc was satisfying. Technically very well planned, thought out and executed, could just have used a touch more depth and perhaps a bit more artistry to the writing, but a good read. I love Rob and the gang and am quite invested in the story and continuing with the third book in the series. Not a big fan of cliffhanger endings, but this was a good one and I'm downloading the next book as we speak.

“You’ve got to stop being terrified of shadows. You’re not the only one who has a lot to lose should Gisborne ever find us. Every one of us does. You’re just the only one who’s chosen not to fight back against all the horrible things he does.”

I, personally, think this was the slightly better read.

This one, Maryanne realized very early on what it was that she wanted, and cut straight to the chase of getting it, and I think the story is stronger because of that. I feel like that helped cut down on the page count, and it also made the plot move more smoothly.

I liked the addition of Alan. I think how the author chose to incorporate him was really interesting, and way different than most people would choose to take him. I hope that he features more heavily in the next book.

Honestly, this book did make the first one worth it. Am I going to take a bit of a break from the series for a bit, try to get back into it at a later date? Yes. But, I think this second one might remain my favorite from the series.

Now I *need* to buy the last book!

Well. This was a good follow-up to the excellence of the first book!
That was one heck of a cliffhanger to follow and this story started off running from the first page. Only to lead into yet another cliffhanger 😏🙇‍♀️

And maybe it was just shorter than the first book, but it felt almost rushed, and maybe there wasn't as much plot as there could have been. That could easily be the natural lull of a second book in a trilogy; as a writer and reader I know that feeling well.

There were a couple of times when I felt the bad things could have been worse, and that conversations could have had more weight, but overall it was good.
I also liked that despite a few modern issues or subjects being brought up it didn't feel preachy or woke 👍

“I was sick. Sick of being the victim.”

Maryanne returns to the Sherwood Forest and to Rob and the gang. The book moved at lightning speed, but is filled with a lot of action and emotion. I am so frustrated with Eliza! Let Gisborne go already! Geez. Maryanne seemed a little flat in this book. Her emotions weren’t as evident and she was a little too calculated and perfect in her actions. I still really liked her, but her actions felt a little rehearsed and unfeeling. But I’m excited where she is going! Let’s go get Gisborne!

When dreams become reality

What no one bothered to tell MaryAnne was that traveling through time could create horrific dreams. But were the dreams just that or could they come true during the waking hours? This installment made things that go bump in the night look like child’s play. We learn more about what makes our forest dwelling friends tick, and we learn that there really is a boogie man with a red and gold uniform and cloak. Can MaryAnne keeps her dreams at bay during the night or through the day? You will soon find out in this epic tale.

Trickery and Secrets

Maryanne is home and miserable. Not only does she miss her friends but Maud is in her time, with her family. And then Maud tells her a secret. She can go back, take Maud's turn. She can never come home but she can save Rob. Except she cant tell him about her dreams. Will she be able to save him without telling him?

It was good to be back with them again and see Maryanne back in action. Loved it.

Another fantastic part to the story!

Out Played picks up where Out Lawed left off, and Maryanne has gone back to her time. Only, things aren’t as she expected they’d be, and every night she’s plagued with terrible dreams of Robin’s death.

An opportunity arises, and Maryanne gets the chance to go back to Sherwood, and this time, she’s determined to set things right.

Amazing

Fantastic next novel in the Sherwood series. Maryanne and Rob have to overcome so many obstacles in order to be happy; and the conflict in this novel made it almost impossible to put down. I can’t wait to pick up the next book in the series to find out what happens next.

a must read

Really enjoyed this book. I know the author said it was hard to write and finish but I’m glad she got it out. I can’t wait for the next one to continue the story of Maryanne and Robin.

First book was better and even though this book was enjoyable at some points, it's almost a must have book to link the series together. Still going to read book #3.

Enjoyed it but a little too much speech and short on action. One query, how does Millrr get whiskey which was invented by the Japanese and not in GB until 17th century?

This sequel kept my attention from the very beginning. There were moments where I laughed with the characters and felt for them as well. Well written! Can't wait to read the third

After reading this book, I wanted to write and post this review to share my honest experiences toward the story, which in my opinion, is just as great, or potentially even better than the first. I’m so glad I got into this series!

Remember what happened at the end of Outlawed? Maryanne got her wish to go home…or was that really her wish? She gets to see her family and her brother any time she wants, and she can enjoy the conveniences of the modern world, but she is not truly happy. She’s been having these dreams…dreams of Rob dying, his friends suffering terrible injuries, and entire villages destroyed.

It would normally be an easy decision to warn your friend if they are in danger, right? Well, when she is having these dreams, Maryanne is back at home in the 21st century, and her time travel ability only allows one return trip to the modern world. If she goes back to warn Rob, she’ll have to leave her family forever.

Just as the previous, this was very well-written and an engaging read filled with adventure, action, a little romance (but not enough to overtake the plot), violence and epic battles. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll be at the edge of your seat as the story smoothly unfolds.

Unlike the first, where the story focused on Maryanne convincing Rob to become Robin Hood, this story focuses more on the conflict between Rob and Grisborne. Because, surprise, Grisborne is not dead. Which means that there is more action, more strategy, and a more intense storyline.

The book does end on a cliffhanger, and you will definitely want to read the third one immediately after that.

I don’t think I can say this enough, this is an amazing series that I am really enjoying. I’m excited to read the last one because I really want to know what happens but I don’t want the series to have. Great characters in a creative, driven world starring in a twisted retelling of a popular story, this is definitely something you can’t miss!

Oh my goodness I love this book so much! Pre-order it NOW. And that completes this book review…

Ok, no it doesn’t. This sequel was fantastic, it was full of the kind of tension and foreboding that keeps you turning pages well into the wee hours of the morning, when you really should be sleeping. I lost several hours of sleep to this book, and it was totally worth it.

There are several heart stopping moments, usually at the end of a chapter, hence my serious lack of sleep over the last couple days. Through it all, Maryanne becomes more of herself. She continues to discover what she is capable of, and grows into her role, more and more, as the person her friends really need her to be: their backbone and support.

I love the way she challenges the men she is surrounded by, and equally, the way they also challenge her. I love a story that brings men and women together as partners, and this is a book that does that very well. These characters really do grow together, they become better versions of themselves as the story thrusts them together… and apart… and together again. They each find strength they didn’t know they had, while overcoming weaknesses they weren’t totally aware of either.

It was wonderful! Seriously, you need these books in your collection. I can’t wait for the next one. I haven’t been so on edge for a series since I started The Cruel Prince, and that’s been torture too. Don’t miss this perfect sequel, you’ll regret it.

What a great continuation of this series. Still not 100 % on reasons he sent his daughter or forgiven him for sending her back in time to fix his mistakes. The whole family besides josh seems self centered. Rob and his men yummy.

>Book Review – Outplayed
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Sherwood Outlaws and ends in a cliffhanger. Maryanne uses Maude’s return trip to return to the past for good. Maryanne’s family seems to love Maryanne more, but their actions do not really match their words. Once back, Maryanne has to prove she is not Maude, again. She also has to deal with a distant Rob and a lot more violence. Gisborne has really increased the violence. There are a lot more descriptive beatings and maimings, along with very scary dreams.
>The new character of Alan is sweet. I love how Maryanne and Rob interact with him and his naiveté. All of Maryanne’s dreams seem to come true. She is warned that if she tells Rob about the dreams, she will save him, but she will die. She tells Rob the dreams, but doesn’t die. Everything else is coming true, but not this warning about the dreams.
>This book is appropriate for a young adult (18+) audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. All of the prophesy’s should come true or a reason should be given.

I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review.

This starts off right after Outlawed. The way this book starts is because she traveled back to her time. Maryanne is with her family once more but she misses her family with Rob. She had just started having feelings for him. She got to meet Maud. The girl everyone thought she was. Finally was able to understand things a little bit better with Maud's story. Well Maryanne found a lop hole in the magic of traveling with Maud.

For a short review you meet new people and find out a few secrets but not all of them. Maryanne isn't getting what she thought she would when she got back. However is this book are new adventures and trials that everyone must learn to face. Overall I have really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading the next in this series.

I have slightly mixed feelings about this book. It took longer to hook me than the first one, due mostly to the beginning taking place in the present, which was jarring after getting used to the past. Also 90% of the plot revolves around a misunderstanding which begins to get a little irritating. However, that same understanding creates some punch-to-the-gut moments in Maryanne and Rob's relationship which I tend to look for in a romance. The cliffhanger ending is also a bit jarring as it comes after what is otherwise shaping up to be a happy ending. And there are some nice Maryanne and the gang moments and some sweet Maryanne and Rob moments. So, overall 4 stars and I need to know what happens next.

I was given this free review copy at my request and have voluntarily left this review

Hayley Osborn did a fantastic job with this book. It is exactly what I was looking for in a sequel.
Maryanne gives up everything to go back to the past and when she finally gets there, nothing is the same. Rob and the gang have changed tremendously while she's been gone and fear drives their every move. It's up to Maryanne to figure out what's happened and how to help them, while keeping a horrible future from happening.
It's suspenseful, whimsical, and romantic with plenty of action and drama in there to keep you on your toes.
I'm anxiously awaiting the next book in the series because after that ending, I absolutely have to know what's going to happen next.

No! No! No! These friends have been through enough!!! Please stop!! They need a chance to get their swagger back. They need to be whole again. They need to be on top. Why don’t they get a chance to catch their breath? This book is so hard to read. It’s full of sorrow and stress for these characters. Their morality has become a handicap. Why can’t they recover?
I guess this is what happens in a good book-the reader becomes invested.
Enjoy being invested ....while you wait for book 3 to make it right... I hope...

This was a little different from the first one. The beginning was definitely difficult to get through. Maryanne's family is a little under-defined and the modern part seems too long and too short at the same time. I just wanted to get back to Sherwood Forest, but I also think that Maryanne's healing relationship with her family seemed rushed.
After that, though, it picked up. The tension and the character relationships I adored from the last one were back! It was a bit shorter and faster than the first, but I look forward to the release of the third this month!

I loved this book! There was enough suspense to keep me on the edge of my seat. There is enough sorrow to bring tears to my eyes. There are enough comedic moments to make me laugh. There were misunderstandings and, eventually, admitted love between Maryanne and Rob. There was plenty to keep me interested as the story unfolds. I cannot wait to read Outlasted!
