“Truth or dare?”

Four years ago, an innocent game led a group of friends into the woods for a night of debauchery.

Two weeks later, one of them was dead.

Now, Natalie Adams wants nothing more than to forget what happened that night—and everything that happened after.

It’s easier said than done when a very public misstep lands her back at Banner-Hill, a place she swore she’d never step foot in again.

And she’s not the only one that’s back.

Logan and Killian are just down the hall, reminding her of everything she’d rather forget. Taunting her with everything they once had.

At Banner-Hill, the wealthy fight their demons—or indulge them.

Natalie Adams plans to do both.

Readers Beware: This book is a RH bully romance. If there are bad things to be done, these characters will be the ones to do them.

Wow, this book was FABULOUS.

James always comes up with brilliantly unique premises. Her writing is amazing too - but to the last book of hers I read, I gave only 2 stars because I disliked the intensely submissive heroine. This problem is totally fixed now, and I am desperate for the sequel.

Natalie Adams is a reality TV star controlled by her cruel father. Four years ago, she was in Banner-Hill Rehab with her boyfriend Dash and his best friends, rockstar Killian and athlete Logan. But then Dash died under mysterious circumstances, and she fled from the two other boys, guilty about the role their connection might have played in Dash's death. Now she's 21 and her uncle Murphy tells her she has no choice but to return to Banner-Hill and dig up dirt on her dad.

Killian and Logan are still there. They're furious she left them, and furious she's back - leading to some incredibly hot hate sex. The three of them dance around each other as Natalie delves into the rehab's secrets.

Okay, so I LOVE Natalie. She's a tough, bitchy, emotionally closed-off heroine - one of my favourite types. Killian and Logan are damaged by their obsession with her, which just makes them even better. There's a rough, dark edge to all their interactions which I am such a fan of. Both of the guys have clearly defined personalities. I'm really impressed at how far the author went in making them all morally ambiguous, antiheroic characters. Drug use for one in this book is off the charts.

My biggest complaint is that I wish we saw more of the guys with Natalie. Towards the end of the book, they faded away a bit from the main scenes. I also desperately want more flashbacks of them all from the time they were 17, because the snippets we got were brilliant.

I found Natalie's revenge plot against her dad slightly confusing, and I admit I skimmed it a bit towards the end. But I absolutely powered through this book in two hours this morning, and I don't even know how I can wait until November for book 2.

Good people make mistakes. Bad people can’t afford to. It’s the irony of the filthy rich.

Cassie Cassie, damn girl you hit me hard with this one.

I went into this with little faith but with lots of hope and as my previous reads were not so remarkable. I have to add that I was a little skeptic. But I am so happy I took a chance on this one.

This seriously needs more reads.

I am not going to spoil things for anyone but if you are into FC who is strong with right amount of bitchy then hey what you waiting for, just dive in. I promise you, it will be worth the fall.

I pride myself on being able to read men. It’s the only way to survive in a world like mine

The main reason why I loved this book might be because I am still unsure if it comes under reverse harem.
?? I bet it does

But, I love the thrill of not knowing what's coming next. See, If it was classified as reverse harem then you know that no matter what shit the author pulls it will end with either threesome of four, then the drama can only bring so much angst.

I loved Nat. She was so detached and bitchy but I loved her anyways.

Dash was the only one whome she loved freely and he was murdered.
That one light was all she had and she lost it. Her love for Dash really called my soft side, she was broken but she still loved him with all the broken pieces. He could tell her anything and she'd do it, It was pathetic really but I overlooked it.

I cry until I finally manage to “fall asleep in the uncomfortable chair. Even as heartbroken as I feel in this moment, I don’t abandon Dash. I stay to the very end.

It's almost funny that I am not pinning for any of the guys for the first time while reading a book. Surprising but funny
I am here for Nat and Nat alone. It matters less who she ends up with. My total focus is just on her. She could choose Sadie for all I care and I would still be happy for her.

I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into, but the blurb called to my dark heart. The book started out a bit slow (lots ofcharacters and plot needed to be introduced so I understand), but then around the halfway point I was hooked! So much happened. So many twists and lies.

𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒓 𝑫𝒂𝒓𝒆, 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒆?
𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒉.

This was the wildest game of Truth or Dare, ever. It's twisted, it's dirty and isn't for the weak.
Natalie is back at Banner-Hill. An institute for the rich and privileged who have substance abuse/behavioural problems. 3 years ago something went down in the woods and no one is the same after. Four lives are forever changed. One deathly so.

Now she is back and looking for answers, but she isn't sure where to start or who to trust. Her sleazy uncle has is keeping tabs on her and trying to steer her in the right direction.
Two guys from her past are there as well. Killian the broody, quiet one and Logan the agressive, loud one. They haven't forgiven her for past aggressions and they aren't ashamed to show her just how much they hate her and don't want her there. Despite all that, the author has written these two so well that you fall for them, hard.

Not only is she dealing with the guys and their attitudes, she is finding herself even deeper in the mystery and lies she's there to uncover. Things are not what they seem. Lies will be unearthed and it isn't pretty. She has a few people on her side, but some of them may not be her ally after her last hurrah is set in motion.

Diving into book 2 now!

Four years ago something happened. A group of friends played a game and two weeks later one of them ended up dead.
And now Nat's back to this very place. She's here for a clue, she needs anwers and she needs closure. Those friends are still here, and the things they do, the things they say are getting to her. And to wrap it all up, she was sent here by her uncle. They both have one thing in common - they want her father dead.

See? See how I have no idea what's going on, even though I did get some answers?! Every now and then a hint drops, but I don't think I've gotten to the truth yet. All the twist and the turns, mind games, the truths and the lies,... Yeah, I'm hooked!

**I received an ARC of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.**

Truth or Dare, Natalie?
Truth.

description

First, I have to admit I adore everything Cassie James writes. The 25 Men of Christmas by Cassie James is literally one of my favorite books. It was hysterical and super HOT! 🔥 I wish more people knew about it because its awesome.

Now, Truth... Banner-Hill is an institute for rich people that have behavior issues and/or substance abuse problems. A few years ago four friends played a game in the woods but only three lived to go home. Now those three are back together with secrets surrounding each one.

"I didn't want you to forgive me. I wanted you to want me. I can get any woman in the world except the one I wanted.

Whoa! This book was good! I cannot wait for Dare to release! I am dying to find out what happens. There were mysteries surrounding each MC but you know somehow they're intertwined. And you can't forget this is Reverse Harem so it has lots of smokin' naughty bits!! I'm still fanning myself! Ms. James is an amazing writer. Natalie does have some issues but she's a strong woman. The "boys" are written so you can't help but fall for them too. I love this book and HIGHLY recommend it! 💗💗

3.5 ⭐ rounding down because it took me a while to get into the book (like the 60% mark) but then it really grabbed my attention. I have no idea WTF is going on, all the mystery and secrets, both from the past and the present, but I will be reading on to find out.

Mature, dark contemporary RH. First person POV by FMC. See author's note on trigger warning; adding Trigger Warning for dubcon.

Truth or dare?

So much pain and distrust and layers of trauma date back to a game played by teenagers that was far from innocent.

Natalie (now 21) is a reality TV star whose life has been controlled by her parents, judged by the camera, and warped by tabloids and gossip sites. Natalie needs answers and retribution, but most of all, she needs to be free. Free from her family, free from her reality TV contract, and free from the Banner-Hill memories which continue to haunt her. But her quest returns her to Banner-Hill and reopens emotional wounds from four years ago that never quite healed. And face-to-face with two men she walked away from four years ago ... One pushed her away, ever needing to be in control; the other turned lost boy in her absence. Now she's back.

"I could choke on the weight of all the ghosts of my own that I left here."

Logan and Killian haven't forgotten Natalie - or forgiven her. The attraction between the Hs and h is magnetic, but them together is a confusing mess of hate, lust, and hurt. It's hindered further because Natalie doesn't open up and talk about her thoughts/feelings; she didn't as a teen and she's even more walled up now. Her connections to them are also twisted by toxic relationships she had in the past with men she loved and trusted.

"I hate him, I missed him - but mostly I hate him."

I was intrigued by Natalie's past and potential future with Logan and Killian - but everything felt a bit flat to me. I didn't get enough of what is drawing them to each other in the first place or what is keeping the magnetism now. The forbidden love aspect was interesting, but I'm still waiting for that moment that spotlights their broken souls recognizing each other.

There's another H introduced that is older, more mature and grounded, and might be the calm to Natalie's storm. Right now the connection feels shallow ... but maybe it will grow? Honestly, it feels a little awkward adding him to the mix, but who am I to question Natalie's heart/libido.

Overall, I didn't quite connect with the FMC or other main characters. The premise and story is interesting, especially Natalie's past with Logan and Killian and this mysterious "family business". I love mystery and twists, but I didn't feel suspense so much as I have no idea WTF is going on but also don't know how much I care -- that changed for me in the last 30-40% of the book to I still don't know WTF is going on but I want to keep reading to find out.

The Truth hurts right?
The brand new series from James is totally Pretty Little Liars vibes at first but there is much more to this story that meets the eyes.
Truth sets up the story of Natalie and her history with Banner Hill. It's not pretty. However wherever there is a mystery, there is always a good story to be found and this story definitely going to bring a juicy one .
Nat is from a reality Tv dynasty family and always where there is dynasty to be found. There is plenty of secrets, Nat is no exception to the rule. This set up definitely appeals to the readers as everyone loves a bit of scandal whether they admit it or not. It's the way we live in today society.

However behind the scandals and the glitz and glame is a young women seeking answers about the past that has shaped her into the person we see now. Nat is no pushover. She has built her self into a tank, she is not afraid of anything that flies her way.
It's handy skill as Banner- Hill isn't like majority of the other facilities that appear in this genre. This is hardcore and what behind the door is far from reality.

This was my first book from James and definitely lived up to my expectations. I love this combination of highschool with a twist. James definitely had me addicted this first instalment and loved how she slowly wore Nat down and made her realise her reality is from normal. Banner - Hill was a bundle of surprises and I can't wait for more of this series.

I.Am.So.Shocked. I can't believe the way it ended. Wow. This book was everything. It's so so good. I loved Natalie from the first moment. She is so strong to keep going after everything. And still trying to cover for all the people who are just a victim. And so many truths that came out. The rich have a lot to burry. So much. Somethings are really twisted. Cruel things happen behind closed doors, people will to vile things for money. It's kinda sad to see Logan and Killian push Natalie so hard. The things that happen between them left deep scars. And the death of Dash only made i worse. I also think i'm in love with Killian. Jup i'm very sure. While Natalie finds out some hard secrets about the boys and their family she still tries to protect them. Even after they hurt her so much. She has a very very big heart. So if you're looking for a damn good book. This really would do. It's a well written easy read. That shows the truth about the rich and famous people in the world. That show bad is not always that bad. Read this.
I can't wait to so more of this story!

Wow what a great introduction to this author for me. I now wanna go and read her other books as this was brilliant.

Natalie is a brilliant main character. She’s clever, strong and very likeable. My review is gonna be vague as you need to read this yourself. It’s so so good I’ll be re reading it before book two is released. Yep it’s that good.

After that ending I need book two ASAP.

Wow, just wow.

Pretty original. Picture a rehab facility, add a reality TV troublemaker star and a few alphaholes.
The perfect recipe for a disaster... Or a truth or dare game.

Oh, and that cliffhanger was harsh, dammit.
I loved it.

4.5 STARS REVIEW

New Adult, Contemporary, Dark, Bully, Reverse Harem Romance, Dubious-Consent/Non-Consent

First Person, heroine-POV

This is book #1 of the Scandall of Banner-Hill series, and it shouldn't be read as standalone. It ends in a cliffhanger.

Contains issues and situations some may find triggering.

Mind-blowing!!!

This book was wonderful. It was twisted, raw, dark and dangerous.

There was a bit of everything. We got a good suspense, the love/hate game was strong, some great smut, well constructed characters and a very interesting plot.

This was not a love story! This has all the elements of becoming a great one, but remember this was dark, twisted romance, with a lot of psychological game going on.

Can't wait for book #2!!!

Complicated love!!!

31.5/35 STARS –  4.5 STARS (between 31.5 stars and 33 stars)

Addictiveness: 5 Character: 5 Cover: 3.5 Freshness: 4.5 Plot: 4.5 Romance: 4.5 Writing Style: 4.5

Action 3/5 Angst 5/5 Darkness 5/5 Humor 1/5 Romance 4/5 Suspense/Mystery 4/5

Would I recommend? Yes, for all readers of dark, twisted romance!

Would I re-read this book/series? Yes!

Would I read more from the author? Definitely!!!

Addictiveness: 5/5 I couldn't put this book down. I read in one sitting. It was intense with perfect pace. It kept me guessing until the last page. In fact, I'm still trying to guess what's is coming for the next book. As addictive as chocolate!!!

Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 5/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Multidimensional characters with good story behind. Good character growth during the story.

Natalie was a great heroine. She was not someone that I loved from the get go, but I've learned to understand and to root for her. Her evolution during the story was really good and for someone so young she carried a lot of baggage.

Logan was a complex antihero. I really liked him, probably different than most, he was my favorite. He was a jerk, never denied, he was more guarded, didn't carry his feelings in the open, but was always straight forward with them when needed. I'm really looking forward to know him better and learn more of his background.

Tristan was another multifaceted antihero. He was more of the emotional, caring, type of guy, but in reality he was as cruel as he was sweet. He loved strongly, but he also hated immensely. So much more to explore here, can't wait to see him unraveled .

Secondary characters So many interesting characters to explore here. I love the girls friendship and how they helped each other. I also loved Nick's characters and I find all secondary characters here well created with interesting back stories. Nobody felt extra, they all had a purpose into the plot.

Villain/antagonists One clear villain, easily identified from the beginning, a few unexpected antagonists and some characters that are over the fence. Are they villain or good guys?

They were all about tough love, but lovable and somehow connectable!!!

Freshness: 4.5/5 Unique! Yes, another dark, bully romance, but at the same time, original, with an interesting plot that felt fresh. One-of-a-kind! As fresh as mint tea when you are dealing with a bad cold!

Plot: believable 4.5/5, conflict 5/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 4/5, enjoyment 5/5, opening 5/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4.5/5, twists 5/5  Amazing opening with an interesting ending with a cliffhanger. Superb plot, with well written dialogues and intense pace. Great setting, a few really good subplots with unexpected twists. High level of enjoyment!

Different! Very unusual plot, filled with suspense. At the same time there was a love/hate game very strong, that worked really well for me. I ended the book very intrigued for what is next.

Romance: believable 4/5, chemistry 4.5/5, description 5/5, development 4/5, steam 4/5 Even though this was not a romance. Not in the "normal"sense of the word, I could totally feel the love between the characters. They had history, intense history and they were/will getting/get their second chance. Will they do better this second time? I'm hopeful for them! Intense love!!!

Writing Style: 4.5/5 Creative plot, well constructed characters, great smut, interesting romance in a clean, cohesive writing. Looking forward to read more! Great writing!!!!

Because I try to be very analytical and I don't really believe in perfection...

Cover: art 3.5/5, title 5/5, color-font 4/5, subtitle 1/5, background 3/5 buy 4/5  I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. I always try to be true to myself, I buy so many books because of the cover and I have skipped many because of not very appealing art. Covers are part of the experience for me and I do like to understand them. This one was too generic for me. I can maybe see Natalie in the picture, but I miss more personal touches. I like subtitles that enhance the experience and I really missed something that offered more of the book. I would maybe buy this book by its cover, but I would definitely need to read the blurb first.

I love series, I understand the reason for a cliffhanger, but I don't have to love it. :)

You MAY read this because you follow the author; you SHOULD read this because you like bully romance; you MUST read this because of the very unique plot!!!!

Let me start this off by saying: hooooolllllyyyy shit y’all!!!! Truth was not at all what I expected.

Just from reading the blurb I figured Truth would follow along the same kind of plot with every other bully/enemies to lovers book I’ve come across, but I was wrong. So so wrong. I’m not even gonna try to explain it, just READ IT YALL.

READ 👏🏻 THE 👏🏻 EFFIN 👏🏻 BOOK 👏🏻

This is the first book by Cassie James that I’ve read, and I was incredibly lucky to receive an ARC. Cannot wait to read Dare, and delve into her other books as well!

THE REVIEW FOR THE BOOKTRUTH BY CASSIE JAMES.

GENRE: DARK THEMED REVERSE HAREM SUSPENSE.
AUTHOR:CASSIE JAMES.
TYPE:
POVSINGLE POV...FIRST PERSON.
MY RATING:5 huge stars...

*************************
*******
NATALIE is a star in a reality tv show "ADAMS EVER AFTER" which is based solely on her family.
A Game of truth and dare leads to a drastic situation of life and death...
she abhorred her father and blames him for what happened 4 years ago to her boyfriend DASH and comes to live in the prestige Rehab BANNER HILL to find some dirt on her father for her vengeance.
She encounters LOGAN and KILLER again and finds out that they still hate her for heaving them after DASH's death...Now as the pages turn... the story becomes more and more complicated with twists that will just keep you guessing till the end.

I just love the badass personality of Natalie...It was hard to like her at the beginning but as the story progresses ..it was so much easy to root for her and her decisions...this book seriously give me the charlie's angel vibes...with secondary characters Siobhan and Sadie...The friendship these three developed was envy-worthy.
I seriously hated how Logan behaves with Natalie at first but then we get a glimpse at his character and we know that's just a facade to save him from her harsh rejection. I love the chemistry and steamy scenes between them.
Now, who doesn't love a tragic and grief-stricken rockstar who loves you? Killian was swoon-worthy...The scenes where he is singing the songs and the lyrics just resemble all the pain they all have gone through was heartbreaking...He was one of the most vulnerable characters in the book..

OVERALL...I find this book very captivating and enthralling which just kept me at the edge with all the suspense. It was dark gritty and trigger inducing...So HEED THE WARNING.
BOOK CONTAINS TRIGGERS WHICH SOME MAY FIND DISTURBING...

Oh em gee. Cassie James created this book and executed it brilliantly. I have never read Callie James as a solo author. And wow. She is a force to be reckon with. Truth has delivered a fantastic story that will have you on the edge of your seat. This book has a little bit of everything for its readers. My favorite is the mystery the book is based around. You think you’re close to figuring it out and then BAM you’re left shocked and your mouth open trying to figure out where in left field that came from.

Truth is a part of a duet and I am anxiously awaiting Dare’s arrival. Natalie Adams is who this book is about. She is a reality tv star heir and also a recovering addict. She is sent back to rehab on behalf of her uncle. Nat does not have a clean past and this is not the first time she’s been in rehab. Last time she was there unthinkable things happened forever altering Nats life. She’s back to face old skeletons in her closet, conquer her fears and help put a few things in perspective. The turbulence wrapped in these pages will have you shaking your head in disbelief that someone can have so much happen to them.

I highly recommend this book. Cassie, this is absolutely phenomenal, and I am so excited for everyone to read it! I am so happy I stumbled upon this book! I seriously don’t have enough good things to say about this!!!!!!!

Evil genius

There's something about a book that can get you out of a book funk and leave you all hungover after finishing. This book was just that. I've been struggling to focus on any book lately, picking up this book was a gamble and boy, it paid off big time. I was swept away in the mystery that is the life of Natalie and how the author masterfully spins the story in a way where we are left guessing what happened while she feeds us pieces of the puzzle. But it wasn't only the plot that drew me in. The different characters are amazing and complex. We see how Natalie tries to control the narrative of her own life, which is basically scripted by others until now. Looking for answers and clues in Banner-Hill, she has to face the ghosts from her past.

This book creates a world we navigate alongside the main character, discovering nothing is what it seems to be and trying to find out who's in her corner. It sets up the perfect balance between plot action and character background to develop in the next book.

Fair warning, this book is dark and gritty and left me with a racing heart while reading, but no regrets here. This was an amazing introduction!

’This game, like it or not, is our thing.’

For starters, who doesn’t love a good game of Truth or Dare?!

So can I just say WOW! I knew just from reading the blurb that I was going to like this book but damn, I LOVED IT! Cassie James had told me it was her darkest yet, and man, did it deliver. It was the perfect kind of dark for the story being told and throughout I just wanted to learn more of what had happened four years ago!

Natalie is such a great female lead and I found her interesting and funny. The book is told from her POV and I could totally see myself being friends with a girl like her!

Then you’ve got the boys; Killian and Logan. I’m super intrigued by them and just how their relationship with Natalie is going to develop! I mean, they have the chemistry from the get go! I’ve got a soft spot for Killian though. There’s just something about his brooding self that I find super attractive!

The plot reeled me in from the first page and I read this book in one day! I’ve been in such a reading slump recently and this book gripped me and I couldn’t put it down.

That ending too! GAH!
I cannot wait for the next book!!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What a book! This is a different type of dark romance. We are set in a rehab facility that seems to have grown from teens to adults and the individuals who are in here, all have a past. The thing about this book, is that it has so many twists! So much past and then just this one part, BOOM, Mind blown! Natalie is our MC who puts herself into rehab to get revenge on her father. She knows he is linked to Banner-Hills somehow, but she has to find out how. Once there she meets past flames Killian, the sexy rock star, and Logan, the broody sexy alpha. Neither of them want anything to do with Nat. Dash is her past that keeps haunting her. THEN there is Nick, the sexy, older, yoga teacher. Nat finds alliances within the rehab and gets pulled back into the games of “Truth or Dare”. Except if you don’t want to do either, you get a punishment. I want a punishment from Logan, he sounds like my type of dark. Ugh, so good!

Truth—I throughly enjoyed this book and am looking forward to Book 2!

Dare—I dare you to read this book and hate it! Ha!

This book was like a darker, dirtier, and more mysterious version of your favorite reality tv series where the main female star goes off on her own documentary. Natalie Adams is that star and she is one badass, don’t give a f**k, character that makes you wonder what she’s going to do next. There is so much going on in this story and I found myself trying to figure out the next twist and turn, but at each instance I was pleasantly surprised! I can’t wait for book 2 and to learn more about Natalie, Uncle Murphy, Logan, Killian, Nate, and all the dark secrets of Banner-Hill. Never thought I would love the game “Truth or Dare” again, but this has given me a new found excitement for what the consequences could be.

This book was unbelievably surprising! The first two chapters, I was like okay another rich girl with a drug problem and also daddy issues. Which is not my jam usually, then I hit chapters 3 & 4 and I’m hooked! Like I can’t put this book down to save my life.

Natalie is such a contradiction of character traits but by the end I absolutely love her. She is so much more than a rich girl with daddy issues. Granted the daddy issues are way more than the typical why doesn’t my dad love me and her dad is horrible but it’s everything else we learn. From her childhood sweethearts death, her crazy uncle, the boys you know she loves or the new friends she makes this plot has everything. It’s crazy how much I already love these characters, especially Natalie, Sadie, and Siobhan. I also am in awe of Natalie’s ability of moving the chest pieces to make the narrative and situations fit to her plans.

I honestly can’t wait for Dare and am so excited to see what that ending means!

Oh my heck this book! Holy crow is it amazing! There are some things that will trigger some readers, so make sure that you read the warnings at the beginning, and I admit, I was hesitant to read it at first. But I am so glad I did because I couldn't put it down once I picked it up! The characters draw you into their world of truth or dare and craziness and do not let you go until the last word. There are so many twists and turns that you do not see coming and I love how this author does that. Even the last words leave you wondering what will happen next. I cannot wait to see what the next book brings us.

I really liked this book! From the first chapter, I was pretty much hooked. The plot and characters gave me all the dark, edgy goodness I went into this story for and made me not want to leave. There’s a dark past, secrets, a mystery, and so much morally greyness, you can’t go wrong! I’m so looking forward to the next book!

I can’t remember the last time I read a book that sucked me in the way this one did. I couldn’t put it down. I had to know more. So why only three stars? Because I was almost more confused at the end than I was at the beginning. This book was entertaining, fast paced, dark and twisty. It was also incredibly vague with way too many hints and teases that were rarely resolved. I found myself so frustrated at the end that I knocked off a star.

This book centers on Natalie Adams, the rebel daughter in a famous reality TV family. Natalie has been on TV since she was 13 (she’s 21 now) and she hates it. She also despises her controlling and cruel father and is desperate to bring him down. Her ally in this endeavor is her maternal uncle who gives her a tip that the key to destroying her father can be found at Banner-Hill, a rehab facility for the rich and famous. Natalie has a long and troubled history at Banner-Hill. She went there often as a teenager, and it’s where her high school sweetheart Dash died.

After checking in to rehab, Natalie is dismayed to discover Dash’s best friends Killian and Logan are also in residence. These three have a complicated and twisted relationship. Apparently Dash was a voyeur who liked to share his girlfriend. When he died Natalie ran away, and the guys have never forgiven her for leaving them. Natalie needs to focus on finding the evidence that can destroy her father, but the guys seem determined to make her life miserable. That’s actually just the tip of the iceberg though. It turns out there are lots of secrets hidden at Banner-Hill.

One of my favorite things about this book was Natalie. She’s strong, independent, jaded, and she gives as good as she gets. This isn’t a sweet girl who redeems the bad boys with her love. She has bigger problems to deal with. Get in her way and she will take you down. Even when the guys were being abusive I always felt like Natalie had some power in the situation.

I’m not sure how I feel about the guys yet. The book was much more focused on the plot than the romance. The guys seemed to serve more as a distraction than anything else. They weren’t all that involved in the mystery. I feel like I barely know them as a result.

What I did like about the guys was the history they shared with Natalie. That’s also why one of my biggest complaints is that I wanted more flashbacks. We don’t know when they met, when they got together, how long they were together. We don’t even know how Natalie felt about their relationship. I also wanted to know more about Dash. Natalie saying he groomed her to be shared puts a dark twist on everything. I want to know how the guys feel about Dash and the road he led them all down.

While Natalie and her history with the guys were my favorite parts of the book, I thought the plot was the weakest part. There were so many little things that seemed odd or didn’t quite make sense, and there were so many things that were glossed over. What happened that made Natalie decide it was time to get revenge? How did Natalie’s mom manage to disappear if the family is famous? How and why did they get a reality show in the first place? I have so many more questions, but many of them involve spoilers.

As frustrated as I was at the end I can’t wait to read the next book. I feel like I’ve been burned by one too many RH series that started off strong and fizzled by the end. If this one sticks the landing I’ll consider coming back and changing my rating. I’m just worried that most of my questions will never be answered, that I’ll finish the series and still have no clue what was going on with Natalie’s dad. That doesn’t mean I won’t enjoy the ride though. Natalie is a fantastic character and I can’t wait to see what she does next.

My New Favourite Series!

This book was amazing! I kept seeing this book being recommended so I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did. It was such a nice surprise to have a book with an entirely new plot and well rounded characters but with a bit of mystery. Really looking forward to getting my hands on the next book.

A MUST READ NEW SERIES - I'M HOOKED!

Truth, the first book in the Scandals of Banner-Hill, introduced us to Natalie Adams, the scandalous, drug-addicted heir to a reality television dynasty. But Natalie is more than just a pretty face to be splashed on every tabloid cover in the world; she is more than anyone gives her credit for. Nat is brilliant. She has a sharp wit and incredible mind honed from years of fighting manipulation, surviving the twisted underbelly of the rich and famous, and constantly being underestimated. She takes every barb, jab and knife shoved into her back, and turns them into ARMOUR before anyone's the wiser.

While her father may have the world believing he is the loving patriarch he portrays on TV, he's proved to Nat once and for all he's quite possibly the scum of the earth, and she forms an unlikely alliance and agrees to enter the cursed doors of Banner-Hill rehabilitation facility once again. These halls and the secrets they hold plague Nat's nightmares, home to the worst moments of her life; the kind where you lose everything with people you aren't sure you should have let mean anything.

Once the doors have locked behind us, we meet Logan, Killian, Nick, Siobhan and Sadie. We quickly learn that much like her scripted life, nothing at Banner-Hill is what it seemed, and the games still being played inside these walls have stakes higher than Natalie could have ever imagined. My heart ached, raged and broke for Nat, Logan and Killian. By the time we ended this book, I wasn't sure if I wanted to slap everyone or hold them all close. The wounds between them are so deep, but there is something raw and real between them too, and I'm DESPERATE to see what happens next for our reality queen, the broken rock star and the brutal heir. All of whom are so much more than they let the world see.

The plot is so unique -unexpected, captivating and interesting -but I have to mention that Siobhan is a hidden gem in this story, and her friendship with Natalie and relationship with Sadie made this book infinitely better. Cassie James wrote a FMC who grew up surrounded by fake, catty, conniving women who use as much as they abuse. She has never had a genuine female friendship and the grudging respect Siobhan and Nat allow to bloom into friendship is amazing and written so well. Nat and Siobhan understand each other in ways few others could, so alike and yet so different. The book is worth reading to follow this budding friendship alone.

A Reality TV Star, Dodgy Rehab, a Scandalous, Secret.

I absolutely found this book ticked all the boxes for me.

A reality tv star with a bunch of nefarious relatives all trying to gain a piece of power from the family business... Which is based around their family reality show. (and some decidedly underhand dirty dealings on the side)

Natalie Adams finds herself returning to the same rehab centre she was last in as a seventeen year old.
Banner-Hill was the place were she was involved with Killian,Logan and the place were Dash, her drug addicted, disturbed boyfriend died from an overdose.

So, why would Natalie deliberately set in motion a set of circumstances that would force her fathers hand to send her back?

Because her Uncle Murphy has told her that within the walls of Banner-Hill she will find the evidence to bring her father’s business empire down. A business empire built around Natalie. A business that Natalie desperately wants out of. She has had enough!

What she doesn’t prepare herself for, once she has arrived, is having to deal with the bad history she left behind her between herself, Killian and Logan. Can she survive the playing their twisted game of True or Dare this time?

The more Natalie digs for evidence against her father, the more heinous secrets she uncovers about the staff between the walls of Banner-Hill

Amazing read. It had the balance just right.
Natalie was smart. She had a healthy attitude towards sex and how to use it while still having morals and respect for herself.

However, when other book of this genre always get bogged down with the sexual exploits, Cassie James never loses sight of the main plot, putting in front and centre and not as a side story to the men Natalie becomes involved with.

Also, i really liked all the Nancy Drew-ing she was doing sneaking around the corridors of Banner-Hill
You really get the feeling that you are there with her.
I really enjoyed this story and I am about to start the next
Four stars.

I’m the sort of reader who finds most dark romance/this style of genre quite hard to get through most of the time. Still, it’s a guilty pleasure every now and again.

That said, this was surprisingly easy to stomach. Let’s start with what I liked:

- More balanced power dynamic. Natalie’s romantic interests are still domineering alphaholes, but she doesn’t let that stop her from doing what she wants to, anyway.

- Natalie is not a weak, sniveling heroine. I wouldn’t go as far as accusing her of never making a stupid decision, but at least she acknowledges it’s stupid before she does it. So that’s something.

- Intrigue, conspiracy, stakes. Quite fun.

- Steamy. About what you’d expect here with some dubcon etc.

What I didn’t like:

- Plot holes. This story sort of makes sense if you squint your eyes and try to ignore blatantly obvious plot holes. Also, whilst Natalie is shown as this manipulative and capable heroine, a lot of her plans only work because everyone drops everything to help her with no expectation of anything in return, or things otherwise align perfectly for no good reason. I can accept a bit of deus ex machina but this reached slightly absurd levels.

- Reverse harem. This is a me problem because I just didn’t read the tags carefully enough. Not usually my thing, but still, Cassie James handled it better than most other RH’s I’ve read. The male leads managed to retain distinct personalities, and 2/3 managed to retain chemistry with the heroine.

Overall? Easier to stomach than expected. I did cringe every once in a while, at one point briefly debated a DNF but powered through and I don’t regret it.

4/5 exceeded my expectations.

Reality TV

Reality TV is spun in a light that can be entertaining and keep people coming back to watch. People do out outlandish things and air their lives for the world to see.

Reality TV wasn't so pretty for Nat. She had quite literally been through her own special versions of Hades.

She had cameras following her 24/7 & she loved to bend the rules until they broke. Some times until they snapped beyond repair.

She had been through things that would make you end up in a padded cell with no hopes of ever seeing the light of day ever again. But she was stronger than she gave her self credit for.

She lost someone that she cared very deeply for when she was only 17. Her first love and found at her latest stint in rehab that what they shared might not have been all sunshine and rainbows. Not only was he an addict. But he kept some feel dark secrets from her. He was a cheater. And he was willing to trade her in a game to his friends. Jealousy really is an ugly monster.

He may have pushed Nat to be with their friends so he could watch but when push came to shove the resort was he couldn't really take what developed.

And after his death she was pulled away and neither of them really forgave get for leaving them. And they were sure to show her their anger on their most recent stint in rehab together.

This book was filled with mystery, blood shed, secrets, drama, sarcasm, steamy rough love, and done confused feelings.

It will make you laugh, it will keep you on the edge of you seat, and most of all you will not want to put it down!!!!

If you have not read it yet you should definitely CHECK IT OUT!!! You will not be sorry!!
