Heat Lightning

Rate this book
An unidentified man is terrorizing Luz Maria Montoya. Almost strangled to death in a deserted parking lot, she has no idea who is the perpetrator of this very personal hate crime. Is it someone she's antagonized in her role as a community activist? The former lover who hid a violent side she deplores? Or maybe the partner of a cop whose life she inadvertently destroyed. Investigator Grant Holcomb has been assigned to find her attacker, but he makes no secret of his conflicting feelings. As Luz Maria receives threatening phone calls and grisly warnings, part of him wants to protect the sultry Latina, while the other half hopes the escalating tension between them will explode in an electrifying burst of Heat Lightning.

Luz Maria a strong advocate for Voice.of.Poverty especially if money is why they want to build and take away something in the community.
Someone was set on killing her, and again in the hospital. With the grisly phone calls, Detective Holcomb has a grudge against her, it was his partner committed suicide because of her allegation..he still believes them untrue.. Now working together the connection is strong, can a love grow. With her past mistake and what he holds her responsible for. A chilling story of being threaten and your place is invaded. Changes will be made for both of them.

I was a little worried about this book when I first started reading it because the heroine is a character from Fade the Heat, but once again, I got sucked in easily and drawn into another amazing book by Colleen Thompson. My recommendation is to save this book until you think you're having a bad day. Luz Maria knows about bad days:)
