"I've never told anyone but, that moment - that one, every-changing moment - has made a profound impact on me.
"Olivia. I've lost her three times. The first was to impatience. The second was to a lie so dense we couldn't work our way through it, and the third time - this time - I've lost her to Noah."
"Let me carry you out. I'll never let you touch the ground. I was made to carry you, Olivia. You're fucking heavy with all of your guilt and self-loathing. But I can do it. Because I love you."
"I want your babies, and your anger, and your cold blue eyes. I want to go on anniversary dinners with you, I want to wrap Christmas presents with you. I want to fight with you about stupid things and then hold you down in my bed and make it up to you. I want to have more cake batter fights and camping trips. I want your future, Olivia. Please come back to me."
"How is it that you always let me go easily then? Why don't you know that I want you to fight for me?"
"It took me a long time to figure out that's what you were saying...But ten years later, here I am. Fighting. I'd like to think I've learned from my mistakes. I'd also like to think we've finally made it to the point where we are ready for each other...Maybe this is finally our time. Maybe."
"So, I fight. That's it. That's my only option. And if I don't get her, If she doesn't choose me. I'm going to be that guy - who spends his life alone and pining. Because I sure as hell am not going to replace her with any more Leahs or Jessicas or any-goddamn-body-else...It's Olivia or nothing."
"Eventually. That word is so us, isn't it?...Eventually, we'll come back together, fall apart, come back together."
"We are gonna be okay. That's what happens when two people are meant. You just work it out until you are okay.

"She’s mine. She always has been, she always will be. We’ve been running in opposite directions for the last ten years, and we collide at every turn. Sometimes it’s because we’re looking for each other, other times it’s fate.
She has the kind of love that can stain your soul, make you beg not to have one, just to escape the spell she’s put you under. I’ve tried to break myself of her over and over, but it’s pointless. I’ve got more of her in my veins than blood…
We're not over. We'll never be over."
"I can't stay away from you. I've been trying for ten years."
"I tried to break her before. Now, I just wanted her as she was. I wanted every last beautiful flaw. I wanted the witty one-liners and the coldness that only I knew how to warm. I wanted the fight and the friction and the make-up sex. I wanted her to wake up in my bed every morning. I wanted her shitty cooking and her beautiful, complex mind."
"Do you remember the orange grove, Olivia?"
"I want your babies, and your anger, and your cold blue eyes…" I choke on my words and I am the one to look away. I bring my gaze back to her face and realize that if I can't convince her now, I'm never going to be able to. "I want to go on anniversary dinners with you, I want to wrap Christmas presents with you. I want to fight with you about stupid things and then hold you down in my bed and make it up to you. I want to have more cake batter fights and camping trips. I want your future, Olivia. Please come back to me."
"How many times can a heart be broken before it is beyond mend?"
"I don’t love anything more than I love you."
"We are gonna be okay. That's what happens when two people are meant to be. You just work it out until you are okay."

“I’ve come to the conclusion that there are no set rules in life. You do what you have to do to survive. If that means running away from the love of your life to preserve your sanity, you do it. If it means breaking someone’s heart so yours doesn’t break; do it. Life is complicated — too much so for there to be absolutes.”
“She’s mine. She always has been, she always will be.”
“Lies, it sounds demented to want a woman’s lies. But, Olivia loves you with her lies. She lies about how she’s feeling, how she’s hurting, how she wants you when she tells you she doesn’t. She lies to protect you and herself.”
“I'll do whatever I have to do to protect you. I'll lie, cheat, and steal to make you okay. I'll share your suffering, and I'll carry you when you're weighed down. I'll never leave you, not even when you ask me to. Do you believe me?”
‘I don’t love anything more than I love you.’
“Maybe our souls touched underneath that tree. Maybe I decided to love her. Maybe love wasn't our choice. But when I looked at that woman, I saw myself differently.”
“She will be your destruction. She's not healthy."
"Then let her destroy me.”
“That was the exact moment my heart threaded with hers. It was as if someone reached down with a sewing needle and stitched my soul to hers. How could one woman be so sharp and so vulnerable at the same time? Whatever would happen to her would happen to me. Whatever pain she would feel, I would feel it too. I wanted it — that was the surprising part. Selfish, self centered Caleb Drake loved a girl so much he could already feel himself changing to accommodate her needs.
I fell.
Hard.
For the rest of this life and probably the next.
I wanted her — every last inch of her stubborn, combative, catty heart.”
‘You’re strong. Strong enough to protect your heart and mine, and your heart from mine. I’ll give you everything I have because from the day I met you, it’s belonged to you.’
“Life does not accommodate you, it shatters you. Love is mean, but it’s good. It keeps us alive.”
‘We’re not over. We’ll never be over.’
We are gonna be okay. That’s what happens when two people are meant. You just work it out until you are okay.
“Broken people give broken love. And we are all a little broken. You just have to forgive and sew up the wounds love delivers, and move on.”

"Olivia is a piece of art. You have to know how to interpret her, how to see the beauty under the harsh lines of her personality...She has the kind of love that can stain your soul, make you beg not to have one, just to escape the spell she's put you under. I"ve tried to break myself of her over and over, but it's pointless. I've got more of her in my veins than blood."

The day I met her under that tree, it was as if I breathed a spore of her into my lungs. We kept coming back to each other. The distance between our bodies grew wider over the years as we tried to live separately. But that spore took root and grew. And no matter the distance or circumstance, Olivia is something that grows inside of me.
Chit-chattery. She just made up a word and used it in a sentence to insult me. God. Who the hell was this woman? And if I could get her to stop being hostile, what would she taste like?
…
This is how we’ve always hugged. She called it the Upper Cut. In college she would always say, ’ Upper cut me, Caleb.’ People would look at us like I was getting ready to hit her.
“I love him.”
I cross the kitchen in two seconds. I grab her upper arm so she can’t get away and lean down until I’m right in her face. She has to see truth. My voice sounds more animal than human; a growl.
“More than me?” The light drains from her eyes and she tries to look away.
I shake her. “More than me?”
“I don’t love anything more than I love you.” My fingers tighten on her arm.
“Then why are we playing these stupid games?”
