The tire-styled cover is really fun for children. I didn't have much interest in this book personally but I can definitely see how boys (who have a tendency to like big and powerful machines) and even girls would like this book that defines the different aspects of the machines they are interested in. It's great to have basic books that just define different aspects of a subject that children tend to be interested in because when young children really get into something they want to know ALL of the facts about it and while children are getting more and more tech savvy, I think wikipedia articles about different subjects is just beyond a lot of kids reach. These types of 'mini-dictionary' books are much more ideal and give children something to refer back to instead of always asking their parents. As, I usually note about cardboard based books, I would have added a few more pages of content because it always seems that the thick books sacrifice important content by skimping out on the number of pages. If my young child really got into big machinery I would definitely consider this book to help guide him or her in understanding the basics and then give them more technical or conceptual books.
This was a very fun book. I love how it explained in detail what all of these many trucks do. I know for a fact that the little 4 year old boy I nanny would absolutely love this book because he loves anything to do with trucks. The cover of this book would be intriguing to any young boy as it looks like real tires. I don't know that a young girl would be interested in this book, but the cover may be enough to get a young girl interested in the book.
I think that this is a very fun book for children interested in tractor and cars. The book shows a lot of different types of tire tracks left by different vehicles and the cover has a fun texture to it.
