Yeah, I know what you’re thinking… Biker, cage fighter, Russian mafia hitman, maybe. Man of God, not so much. Because of the tat‑sleeves or six-pack? Pierced nipple, perhaps. Is it the sun-streaked blonde hair and granite-hewn features making you doubt? It’s okay, I get it. Priests don’t typically come packaged in six-foot-two frames of shredded muscle. They don’t have panty-melting smiles or bedroom eyes the color of an ocean squall. They don’t make you think fallen angel.
No ma’am, I’m not anyone’s idea of a cleric, lookswise or otherwise. I think about sex a little too much. I’m not always good about following the rules. I drop F-bombs. I have a temper. And yeah, have shamefully broken a few vows. Would it also surprise you then to learn that despite all of the above I truly love God and the Church? That I received my calling when I was just nine? That I’d planned my life for the priesthood yet almost gave it all up for a woman?
Now just so we’re clear… This isn’t going to be some sappy romantic rendering of forbidden love à la The Thorn Birds. Sorry to disappoint. As for those expecting a smutty one-handed read about a hot holy father sporting junk as huge as his ego, apologies again. My name is Tristan, aka Father Cleary, and whatever else you may think this story is about… I respectfully suggest you think again.
FORBIDDEN ROMANCE WITH HEAT, HEART, AND HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
When Lark isn't juggling multiple WIP's, she's tackling home improvement projects and her growing TBR list. She enjoys gardening, running in the rain, eating ice cream out of the carton, and listening to true crime podcasts. She lives in Seattle with her husband and neurotic rescue pooch.
Tristan Cleary is a man of God. Sure, he may not like like one with tatted up sleeves, nipple piercings, muscles, and a mouth like a sailor, but he knew his calling by the age of nine. That is until he fell in love as a teenager with Kadence “Kady” Janacek. She was the love of Tristan’s life. The girl he wanted to marry until she broke his heart in the worst possible way. Kady ran away and left the town of Carkeek, Indiana. Soon after Tristan joined the seminary and is now Carkeek’s resident parish priest. But, when Kady suddenly makes an appearance in his church, Tristan wants nothing to do with her, yet he still can’t help wanting her at the same time. Can they both come to terms with what happened in the past and is their a future for Tristan and kady even though he is a man of God?
I must say after reading the prologue I knew I was going to be in for a wild story. The prologue is super hot! Tristan is unlike any priest I know. Maybe if there was a priest in my church that even remotely looked like Tristan I may be persuaded to attend every week! Oh My! I am probably going to hell now! Okay enough about me. The prologue is intense and very sexy and really sets the tone for the rest of the story. I must say this is probably one of the best prologues I have read in a very long time.
Tristan is very much an alpha male. He may be a priest, but he certainly is no angel. After entering the seminary his days were spent as a theology student, but at night he was a fornicating sinner. Doubt plagued him until he reaffirmed his commitment to God and stayed on a straight and narrow path. He takes his priesthood seriously and has grown his church in numbers. Deep down he is a good man who has made mistakes. When Kady comes back to town, Tristan tries so hard to fight the feelings he once had for her and still has for her even though he wishes he didn’t. He has a hard time staying away from her, but he is not sure how he can trust Kady after what happened in the past.
Kady is a sweet girl deep down who made mistakes in her past and instead of working them out, she ran away. She never really made anything of herself in the decade she has been gone and has just been getting by drifting through life. Kady once had goals and ambitions, but it feels as if that was a lifetime ago. Now that she is back in her hometown, she wants to make right the wrongs of the past and that starts with talking to Tristan. Her story is heartbreaking and when she finally reveals the truth it is very shocking.
I really enjoyed this story and found it to be very intense. The scenes are borderline erotic but yet very sexy at the same time. If you think about it the story really does walk a fine line into the taboo which is not always a bad thing and in this case made for a pretty original story. There is a lot of tension and Tristan isn’t always nice, but he does redeem himself towards the end. All in all, I am definitely looking forward to more from this series.
Father: men of the Cloth - Tristan is book one in the Men of the Cloth series and really sets the series off on a high note. I was thoroughly engrossed and found myself needing to find out what happens next. If you like a taboo story that is quite steamy then you definitely will not go wrong by picking up a copy of this book.
When I first read the prologue I thought, yeah right, there is no way this man can be a priest. He's hot, tatted, pierced, has a 6-pack and a filthy mouth. Did not sound anything like a man of the cloth! There is a back story the explains everything though.
Tristan and Kadence fell in love when they were teenagers and planned to marry. Tristan had two loves in his life, Kady and God. He was a reverent and devoted Catholic, always trusting in God to guide him through life. For most of his young life he planned to join the seminary and devote his life to the church as a priest. However, things changed when his love for Kady outgrew his desire to live a life of celibacy.
Just when Tristan thought he had life figured out, Kady did something that completely destroyed everything they had together. After trying to get make sense of what happened and feeling completely betrayed, Tristan turned to the only other thing that made him feel whole, God. He is now a parish priest of his local church and a very active member in the community.
Kady has been home a few times over the past ten years but this time she is staying awhile, her parents need her help. She knows that she needs to see Tristan, if anything he deserves to know the truth about what happened all those years ago. What he thinks to be true has feed his anger and desire to never see Kady again. He never wanted to lay eyes on her again, therefore he is surprised to see her in his confession box. Seeing Kady again completely assaults Tristan's thoughts and senses. He is still so affected by her and it pisses him off.
'She was his sweet succubus, seducing him to the dark side with her silken skin and searing heat. Both heaven and hell rolled into one, she was Father Cleary's greediest pleasure. And his greatest shame.'
Kady is shocked to see so much hate and anger emanating from a man she once felt only love and admiration for. Kady is determined to make peace with Tristan, after all they used to be best friends and she has missed having the easy friendship they once shared. She is hoping that he will see reason and be able to talk to her without disgust and hate clouding his judgment.
It seems that Tristan is not going to be able to avoid her and when she does open up to him it completely changes everything between them. His faith and self discipline is tested and he feels completely bared to this beautiful woman who he still loves. A slight conundrum huh?
Kady is fully aware that she has disrupted Tristan's life and she also accepts that his life dedication is to his calling now, not to her any more. However, she is hoping that they can move forward and put the past behind them. Tristan is feeling completely overwhelmed and questioning everything in his life that lead to this moment. Will he be able to make peace with his past and embrace the happiness he deserves?
This was a completely different sort of read for me but it's great to read something that I would usually and I'm glad I took a chance on this story.
SWEET BABY JESUS!!!!!!!! HOLY HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF DID I JUST READ....................... That is exactly what I said after reading this book. OMG I was shocked just by reading the prologue so I knew I was in for something else something forbidden and sacrileges and dammit I was not disappointed one bit. This story blew me away I can not stress enough to you that this book is a MUST READ an absolute MUST READ because you will be blown away by Father Tristan Cleary and Kady.
Tristian always knew growing up since the age of nine that he was going to be a priest. He knew he was being called to live his life for the Lord but that changed when he was a teenager and fell head over heals in love with Kady. They had a great relationship until one day she just ups and leaves with no warning or leaving any forwarding information.
So Tristan goes into this tailspin and he decides that he will go to Seminary school and become a priest. Fast for a decade and Kady is back in the small town she left without a word and she is seeking out Tristan to say she is sorry and tell him why she had left in the first place but Tristian is having none of that and he wants nothing to do with her so he treats her like crap so she'll stay away from him but Kady is determined to get through to Tristan. The more she fights for his attention themore he is losing the battle to hate her because no matter what he says he still loves her and his heart wants her. But what about his Priesthood? What is going to happen to them? You have to read to find out and you won't be disappointed because this book is taboo and shocking and a roller coaster ride that you don't want to miss out on.
Tristan is known as Father Cleary. A calling he felt he was lead to at a very young age. He’s not a perfect priest nor a perfect man. He has his demons. He has one big stumbling block, and her name is Kadence. (aka Kady) This is not some woman who shows up at his church and messes with him….no, Kady is his ex-fiance. A woman he was wiling to give up the priesthood for, but something unforeseen tears them apart and Tristan’s ability to forgive just isn’t there. This story is about self realization, forgiveness, redemption and just plain old love.
Could have done with a little less inner dialog, found myself skimming some just to get back to the conversations. Overall I enjoyed the story!
Blurb: No way in hell is he an ordained Catholic priest.

Intriguing and engrossing book. Interesting and engaging story of a priest who loves his church and wholeheartedly believes in his calling, but, at the same time, is embittered with unforgiveness and pain, due to an event in his past. Although I felt for him, I must admit there were times I found it difficult to like him as a character. However, the story kept me turning the pages waiting with baited breath for the moment of revelation...the moment when the truth of that past hurt would come up and bite him in the rear-end; And so, allowing him to redeem himself in the eyes of the reader.
A very solemn story, which brings you full circle from the opening line to the epilogue. Not as debaucherous as one might think from the blurb. (Not as sacreligeous as Sierra Simone's "Priest"), but enough to keep your heart pounding.
Standalone story. Heat level around 3.5. A few slips in the editing but not enough to take you off course.
This book started for me as a 4 star and I was hoping that it would elevate itself to a 5 star…alas that was not the case and it backslid into an almost 2 star review for me.
As the main lead Tristan/Father Cleary states he’s not what you think of when you think of a priest. There is also an F-Bomb warning, take it seriously as he does use it quiet often. So if profanity and really carnal sexual thoughts is not your thing then move on.
In the beginning of the book Tristan had me chuckling with his dry wit and how his bible references would come about when he was really struggling with his carnal desires. So was ready for a little over the top, more titillating then maybe actual physical sex, or at least delayed gratification of a read.
Where things started unraveling for me was actually the introduction of the female lead Kady/Kadence. Kady and Tristan grew up together and they were practically inseparable growing up. Tristan almost walked away from his priesthood calling as a young man to marry her. Something happened and things went up in smoke. Kady ran off and Tristan became an ordained priest.
I guess to show the religious aspect of Tristan biblical versus and quotes were interspersed throughout the book, after a bit I just glossed over them as they weren’t really adding anything to the storyline.
Fast forward 10 years and she’s back in town and wants to set the record straight with Tristan. His reaction was a bit over the top in his anger…but I guess we all respond in different ways to past hurts. As these two dance around each other we get to learn more about them and their history. Tristan’s anger took a good portion of the story along with Kady’s avoidance. These two needed to grow up a bit in my opinion and deal with the past head on instead of dragging it on.
Before I go further I should warn you there is a sexual assault trigger in this book. In some ways it explains some of Kady’s reactions and in some ways when she does so many “Too Stupid To Live” moments you want to shake her and ask, “What were you thinking”? Please understand in no way is this victim blaming. She does some really stupid things…like walking on a dark street alone in the middle of winter in the dark… being hit by an unobservant driver taking a curve to fast is just one of the things that could happen to her. As you read you will find numerous no common-sense being used moments, that you just want to sit her down and have a serious can you pull your head out of your rear talk.
To be honest with the exception of Kady’s mother, sister and Tristan’s grandmother most of the women in this book are not portrayed very well. They either seem to lose their brains once they get a look at the hunk of a man Tristan is or they just make some of the dumbest choices ever.
After a while Kady’s immaturity just started wearing me out along with Tristan blaming everyone else for his issues. Then the author has her make a statement that was like a bucket of cold water during a sexually heated moment. Breaking it down when she and Tristan are finally taking things all the way and she is realizing how endowed he is, she says she is grateful that she was unconscious when she was violated as a young teenager. Insert several expletives here. Any respect I had for her or the author just went up in smoke with that stupidly ludicrous statement.
I finished the book but at that point I was more than over Kady and was finishing it to be able to give a proper review.
Some readers maybe able to overlook the shortcomings of both characters and be totally in love with the book, but for me in may ways she just wasn’t really worthy of Tristan. She needed more of a spine to be able to hold his attention is my feeling. I totally get that she was traumatized when she was younger and in some ways she is still a bit immature. She did show some growth and came to a bit of self-actualization, which was very nice to see. Unfortunately the author did not do her a service by having her act so brain dead at times.

FATHER: MEN OF THE CLOTH -TRISTAN is the first book in the Forbidden Priest Romance series. This is my first read by author Lark McCaffrey and actually, I believe this is her first published work.
Father (Tristan) Cleary is an ordained priest in the Catholic church. He's heard "the call" to God since he was a child. Then he met the beautiful Kadence. They grew up together and Tristan was willing to give up the priesthood for her, he even thought they'd be married. But fate and Tristan's twin brother had other plans. Eleven years later, Kadence is back in town, wanting to make amends. Can Father Cleary practice what he preaches and forgive Kady for tearing them apart years ago?
First of all, a warning: if you find the idea of a priest falling in love and breaking his vows to be upsetting, skip this one! Yes, this might be considered taboo!
Now, here's what I found weird. I had absolutely no problem at all with Tristan rekindling his romance with Kady. No, what freaked me out was that under his robes, Tristan or, er...Father Cleary was tatted, pierced, wore leather, rode a motorcycle and had a mouth to rival a sailor! I often say, "don't judge a book by it's cover" but geez, I had a tough time getting over the whole "holy father" stigma so what the hell does that say about me, LOL!?
Anyway, once I got over that, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. Tristan was in a huge personal crises because how do you decide if you love someone more than you love your God? If he left the church to live a life with Kady, does that make him a sinner in the eyes of God? And if he chooses the church over Kady, is he strong enough to be faithful to God? So many tough questions that really just tore him in different directions! And then there was Kady. There was more to her story than what you first think. She was almost naive at times, tough at others. Their romance was insanely spicy and I ended up really rooting for this unorthodox couple!
Overall, I think this book was a good start to what I hope becomes a great series! Told from multiple POVs with a happy ever after. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Great story from start to near the end, the ending wrapped up to fast. Most of this was long and deeply connected from Tristan to Kady and to the reader but getting towards the end it was going by very fast and glossed over when he chased her to her apartment in Portland from Indiana, him pouring his heart out then next paged their married and a few sentences about what happened but mo the later. That part throw me, I’m 100% invested in this story and to have that, I’m in a tailspin.
Okay some triggers to think about and or be warned before reading... Rape- Kady was raped at 19 by Reese, Tristan’s fraternal twin brother, and 10 weeks later Tristan finds out why’s she in the ER and what she had and lost from something she can’t remember from that night, this event will have him laying all the blame, all the hurtful words at her feet. Wh0ring, Tristan will be hate screwing women for 6 years right after the ER visit and before he vows of chastity, for 5 years as an ordained priest.
His hate lasted 11 years and counting. . Her shame and brokenness to stay in hiding and running will for years in different states will come to ta stop when her father is diagnosed with cancer and comes back to her hometown and try to even hide there in her parents home so she didn’t have to see the only man she loved throw blame. But with her father’s condition she came to a conclusion to finally tell her soulmate what really happened but she wasn’t expecting a tissed off priest with a black heart and hateful words spurring out of his mouth. Tristan isn’t the boy she loved and lost but Father Clearly is a brooding ticking time bomb. Count down to the Explosion.
“I’m an ordained Catholic priest. Check. I’ve broken the vow of celibacy. Double check. I’m not your mama’s cleric, lookswise or otherwise.”
When Father Tristan Cleary, now a resident priest at Saint Benedict’s, encounters his one major paradox of pleasure and shame from his past in the form of Kadence, more than a decade after she had left Carkeek, Indiana, it was for a confession...with the woman who was his ex-fiancée.
It has taken much for Kadence “Kady” Janacek to return to her family home and finally confront Tristan. Kady had looked like an angel back then, the turning point had destroyed him like a devil only could. But now Tristan is full of derision, not wanting anything to do with her, and is most definitely not wanting to hear her claims of innocence or the truth.
Father Tristan Cleary was a man who has not dealt with a very important aspect of his past, keeping it buried deep in his heart. His emotions of sadness, heartache, disappointment, guilt, shame, and regret have all hardened into a solid and implacable emotion, giving a defined cruel edge to his treatment of her, and it may not be an easy thing for some to read, given the reasons Kady had for her actions. He has a one point a crisis of the heart, and it makes for another difficult hurdle for them. Their chemistry was undeniable and electric, with a slow steamy burn throughout the story.
Amount of sex 4 / 5 How explicit is the sex scenes 3.5 / 5 Story 4 / 5 Overall: 4 / 5
Father is the first book in the Men of the Cloth series as well as the debut novel from author Lark McCaffrey. This book tells the story of Tristan (Father Cleary) and Kadence. Before Tristan went to seminary school, the two dated and were engaged to be married. Then something terrible happened which tore them apart. Now, eleven years later Kady returned home and decided it’s time to fill him in on what actually happened. Although, Tristan is now an ordained Catholic priest and he doesn’t want to hear any of her excuses.
This was the first story that I have read that involved a priest, and I wasn’t quite sure how it was going to go. Although, I do love reading taboo love stories, so I took a chance. I am so happy that I did because Father is a great story. There were a couple surprises along the way, and I was definitely on the edge of my seat.
Father is a gritty love story, and Tristan is definitely not the perfect priest. He’s a real bad boy, which made this second chance love story really fun to read.
Priest or not, Tristan is no angel. Just reading the book's prologue as he speaks his mind will alert you to that. What he is, is a good man at heart. That's the heart of this book, in my opinion. There are times when he deals harshly with Kadence, the heroine and his childhood love, that he isn't too likeable. From that, though, is a stream of reality about the nature of passionate men, like Tristan. It's touching to see him, and Kadence, question where his true passions lie - with the church he committed himself to or with the peace he finds in Kadence's arms. The journey is a good one to be on, with unexpected, non-stereotypical plot twists and turns. Ms. McCaffrey did an amazing job of knowing when to let the characters speak for themselves. Solid writing, a great plot, and electricity between the two main characters make this an unforgettable story. I look forward to reading more of this author's work.
I was granted a copy of this book from Reading Alley and, in no way, am obligated to give it a positive review.
I was thrown off with Tristan, the man and Father Cleary, the priest. I suppose I always thought of a priest as holy and while still faulty and human, always striving to be a better man and follow in god’s path. Instead, Tristan behaved, thought, and swore like a biker and treated Kady with very little forgiveness. He said he felt a calling when he was nine, but it was hard to picture him as a devout anything with his actions and thoughts. As a romance, there were intense graphic scenes, but Kady took the brunt of his indecision, and it was heartbreaking for her. I felt a lot of hypocrisy as he thought it was ok to live a double life and expected Kady to go along with it. The redeeming factor was when he finally left the church and realized that it did not make him less of a man in God’s eyes Tristan is finally free to love Kady and God in a way that honors his vows to her as well as to God.

This book gave me pause, as a result, I was leary of the subject matter, but was drawn in from the get-go!!! The depth of emotions and feelings that were evoked by this story around me. I found myself wanting to shake the priest so many times, and wanted to hug the heroine and cry along with her. I have walked a mile in her shoes, and so many times i found myself nodding along to her feelings and thoughts, I almost wishes i could hug her and commiserate over ben&jerry's.
The characters were so realistic, this love story is one for the ages, I will forever remember some well appointed scriptures, and that forgiveness is as much for ones self as it is for the other person!
I highly recommend adding this book to your library, I know it is forever ensconced in mine!
A steamy read with a huge amount of angst. But I had a difficult time reconciling Tristan's anger with his chosen profession. Yes, he is human but his anger to Kadence seemed over the top and completely against what his own Holy Book teaches. Luke 6:37 - Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. James 1: 19-20 - let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. But I could not put this down. I had to read it to the end to find out if they get their HEA!

It took me a while to get into this story. A couple of times - I almost stopped reading completely - mainly because I did not like Tristan at the beginning. I thought he sounded like such a jerk and it just seemed so outlandish that a man like himself would be a F-bomb dropping, cheating priest who lusted after a woman he had discarded earlier. Fortunately, I kept reading and the story did get much better. My reasons for not liking Tristan began to recede after he began showing signs that he could be a good match for Kady and that it might be possible he could make the best decision for their relationship. I was surprised - I went from actually disliking this book to really liking it in the end.
I want to like this book. There are pasa I do like. But it's so repetitive, and kinda dull. Perspective is constantly changing. You know those movies that just stay following someone who crosses a characters path and then follows someone else? It's kinda like that. Not always obvious whose perspective you are reading either. I decided that if I had to read about how special a swearing tattooed priest with a nipple piercing is one more time I would set the book aside. Low and behold I had to read about it for the 69th time... Or was it 666th time? I have a pretty good idea what happened to separate the 2 lovers way back when, just not sure how it affect his priesthood. I can live with that. Who knows maybe I'll finish the story some day.
3.5 Stars This book features Tristan and Kady. I am torn over this book. I loved Tristan and Kady’s love story but at the same time it felt strange because he was a priest. A priest that acted crazy obsessed with her. A priest that was good looking, sexy and cursed like a sailor. Let’s not forget how good he was in the bedroom. He was mean to her often and she seemed a glutton for punishment. Her secret was profound though and was a story changer.
I’m NOT offended by this story. I loved it but didn’t at the same time. It was kind of uncomfortable for me to read. The writing was fabulous but it’s just not my kind of book.
This is a very emotional read. To say that Tristan and Kady's relationship history is complicated is a very big understatement. With betrayal, heartbreak, anger and pain tainting Tristian's heart for years afterwards, he is far from receptive when Kady shows up looking to explain. The angst level is very high as these two struggle to deal with everything that happened before and the now, which offers its own complications. Steamy, dramatic and poignant, this book is both intriguing and engaging. I am posting a completely honest and totally voluntary review.
Great hot story. Tristian called to the ministry at age 9 meets the love of his life at age 11. They were engaged to be married then a horrific thing and tragedy happen. The wedding is off. Tristian goes on to become a priest and for 11 years Kady is a semi nomad. The main part of the book is what happens when Kady comes home. I really like Tristan he is unlike any priest you ever heard of, I was glad Kady stopped being a mouse. And the Scriptures were so on point and accurate. It is a must read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Oh boy! I did like the synopsis it looked like it had a lot of potential but it was WAY over the top which made it too unbelievable. I'm all over a tormented character but Tristan was just too much.
There were elements that were okay but the way Tristan the Priest was written was too hard to swallow. I like pushing things to the edge but this was too much leaving a more negative taste in my mouth instead of thinking he was a tormented person.
This was a very hard read for me, there was so much pain that both of these characters have gone through.
Beautiful written book with so much emotions that it broke my heart at times but I was rooting for them to find some peace, and a way to bridge the gap that had form in the years that they were apart.
His love for God, was is stronger than the love of a woman?

his book was not what I expected. It was tamer than expected. I didn't care for Tristian too much. From the day he saw Kady, he was terribly mean to her. He didn't want to hear her excuse/confession. Then he did. Then he didn't. Despite how poorly Tristian treated Kady, she gave into him everytime. I was hoping for a stronger female character. Still, I enjoyed this read! HEA.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.
Set on Carleen, IN. 304 pp. This was a lot less sex than other books of this nature and more a story about finding a way to forgive and heal. NGL sex scenes were pretty hot.
A very heartfelt, emotional, intriguing, enjoyable story. He has a big decision to make and to forgive himself. A very well written and enjoyable read. A very emotional story that keeps you guessing and wondering what would you do? I recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
From page 1 of this book I knew it was going to be good.
Father McCleary gave his heart once to a girl, the girl of his dreams only to have her leave town and him behind. So he turned to his second love, the church and God. They would never leave him. Through the years he knew about Kady's coming and goings in the town to see her family, but never run into her. Until she sought him out, to tell him her version of the truth. Only he doesn't care anymore, he's done. He's moved on. So should she. his brain says one thing, but his heart says another thing.
The story is full of highs and lows. I felt for both of them. This is a story about love, forgiveness, and acceptance. The characters are relatable and the plot moves at a good pace to keep you interested.
I believe that this is a new author because I could not find any more books by her. She will be continuing the "Men of the Cloth" series and I'm looking forward to reading her next 2 books.. Being of Catholic faith I thought I might be offended by this subject. Just the opposite. I enjoyed the story, the characters and the end. This is the world we live in now!!
I was hooked on this read from beginning to end. Tristan/Father Cleary isn’t your typical Priest and he is the first one to admit it. Kadence and Tristan have great chemistry and the story is filled with lots of drama and emotion. The characters have great depth and the story is emotional and entertaining. I really liked it.
Wow...this is one unexpectedly good read! The language is raunchy; the sex even raunchier. The storyline is quite good; character development is pretty darn amazing; and the HEA is kickass. The use of scripture throughout is a great technique. You need this one on your TBR list for sure. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and was totally blown away by it.)
This was not what I was expecting at all, and in the best way possible. I worried about how it could possibly end well because of Tristan putting aside a typical life for that of the cloth, but it was actually done well and the reasons behind the decisions made sense. Overall, this was a strong read.
